Something Is Out There was released on as a two tape set in Australia Only. 
     The Series, that followed, went away from the mini-series only to return to the formula to late to be saved.
      8 episodes were filmed and only six were shown in the US. All eight were aired in Australia & on the Sci-Fi Channel.

The Special Effects were done by master effects wizards Rick Baker & John Dykstra... inventor of the Dykstra flex camera used in Star Wars & Battlestar Galactica. 

Out There aired opposite of Beauty And the Beast, the series. Which Rick Baker did the FX for too. 

     Faced with a time slot against 'Dallas' and 'Beauty and the Beast' was deadly. But the only fall slot open at the time was  Friday's at 9pm. The only other option was not to go on at all.
  Producer, John Ashley the same year had his other series, 'Werewolf' on FOX go under too.

     Out There premiered May 1988 as a four part mini series running 165 Minutes edited. 

     The Budget over the four hour show was 7.5 million dollars. A monstrous amount of money for a television mini-series in 1988. 
     The entire mini-series was shot in just 41 days on location in Los Angeles & Australia. The mini-series is outstanding.
