Rabbit too Expensive:
The sequel to Who
Framed Roger Rabbit by Producer-director-writer by Frank Marshall
appears just to expensive to remake. Marshall told columnist Liz Smith

expensive-- way, way too expensive." It would have 80 minutes of
animation mixed in. Twice that of the first film which cost $50M to
make. What a crock...

APR 25:
Wastin' FX: The FX Channel has gone dismal with it current line-up that revolves
mainly around three series. X-Files (2 per day) M.A.S.H. (8 per day)
and Beverly Hills 90210. What a waste of cable. This is a channel that
use to have 'The Fall Guy' and 'Miami Vice'. Just... terrible.
APR 25:
U-571 Opening:

Looks like John Travolta will continue his evil ways in Warner
Brothers 'Swordfish'. Production is due to begin shooting in July.
Skip Woods wrote the script for the film. Dominic Sena is directing
while Joel Silver (who else) and Jonathan Crane produce. Travolta will
play the worlds most dangerous spy after $6B, who forces a computer
hacker to help. (hollywood reporter). Don't ya think Travolta would be
a great bad guy for a Tom Cruise Mission Impossible story.
APR 25:

on Haunted Hill) to remake another 'B' movie '13 GHOSTS'. It will be a

Eyes'. Carolina Thompson will script.
APR 24:
Transformer DVD: This is one DVD
to stay the hell away from. It is due out October 10. Please
don't buy this one. Save your money. It is the same cut piece of crap
version that has been out of VHS for awhile. Use the money for the
Independence Day Special Edition DVD. That will be a great DVD when it
comes out.
APR 24:
Lords Petition:
11000 fans have
signed up for an online petition concerning the depiction of Arwen,
the young elf warrior princess. They want the character true to
Tolkien's version. Petitions for this type of stuff are a waste of
time. New Line Cinema paid for the movie rights to the books and have
the creative ability to make changes to any of the characters they see
fit. Petitioning to save a show is a noble deed and not taken
seriously enough. To have a character from a book depicted a certain
way is a waste of time and effort. The studios just won't care.
APR 24:
NBC Pilots: NBC is hot and heavy in new series with 24 pilots in development for
the fall. I don't how many or if any of them are in the genre.
APR 24:
Limpet Remake:

make-over. King of the Hill creator Mike Judge is negotiating to
direct and possibly script the picture. Jim Carrey earlier left the
project and the actors Mike Myers, Chris Rock and Adam Sandler are
being considered for the role. Why not just throw this one to Eddie
Murphy too. This one might be perfect for him. Not at $20M though.
APR 24:
Logan's Run Remake:
The 1976 Logan's Run also seems to be getting a remake from Joel
Silver and Warner Brothers. Skip Woods (swordfish) is in negotiations
to write and direct. (hollywood reporter) It is unknown if the film
will be a remake or continuation from the original.

Arnold's next project? Perhaps. Currently in development since last
summer. Arnold still awaits a completed script. Helming the project is
Frank Darabont (green mile) and Chuck Russell (eraser). With Arnolds
last flop 'End of Days' they might want to think about making this
one. Been awhile for an Arnold hit. $20M is a ton of salary for box
office duds.
APR 23:
Godzilla 2?:
Not to be confused with Japan's 'Godzilla 2000'. Sony is planning to
visit a sequel. Centropolis pictures (Devlin and Emmerich) has told

Horror master Clive Barker. The novels are titled 'The Arabat
Quartet'.
APR 22:
Pretender In Trouble:
Despite ratings in the six's, NBC is considering giving the hook to
'the Pretender' in order to air its new football league 'the XFL' in
its Saturday time slot. Profiler is already cancelled in the slot
after Pretender. I gather changing days is out of the question for
this great series? Pretender would be great FOX show. There are two
sites for SAVE the PRETENDER... http://www.mydailyplanet.com/frntpage.htm
& http://op-stp.homepage.com/
New episodes return April 23 on NBC. That's tomorrow ya'll.

movie.
APR 22:
Casper Busy: Casper
Van Dien is keeping busy. He's starring in the TV primetime soap opera
pilot 'TITANS' and is currently starring in the feature film 'Going
Back'. The way his career is going though, he could be the next Bruce Campbell
'B' Movie Star. He isn't the actor Campbell is though.
APR 22:
The Patriot Cut:
Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool has seen both the long and cut versions
of the 'The Patriot'. He has said that both movies are awesome though
the cut makes it a slightly different film. Harry says we gotta see
this movie. Check out Ain't It
Cool for his review of the cut version... John Williams still has
to score the cut version. (it was cut for time)
APR 22:
DVD News:
Paramount continues to jump around with the DVD release order of the
Star Trek films. The Search for Spock should be out soon at $29.98 SRP.
The DVD is a no frills letterbox cut of the film. Should be a $9.99
SRP. It's old and has no extras. I'm sure the fans will drop the bucks
to have it in their collections. Can't blame'm either.
APR 22:
Flash DVD:
The old Flash Gordon Serial is coming to DVD pretty soon. (might be
out already) All 12 episodes are included in the set. An uncut 234
minutes @ $29.99 SRP. This would be a great collectors set for the
mogul.
APR 22:

Reportedly this one is to be directed by Simon Hunter. John Carpenter
was once tied to this film before Ghosts of Mars. Stuart Hazeldine and
event horizon's Philip Eisner have scripted the film. Unknown when the
film will begin shooting.
APR 21:
Wonder Woman:
It appears
that Sandra Bullock will be the Wonder Woman, at least according to
Julie Strain who tried out for the part. Strain, Penthouse and
'B' movie star, auditioned for the part and was a little upset she
didn't get the part claiming, "It's... 2000, loosen up and hire
someone that'll show their tits.? Ms. Strain obviously forgot about
the acting part. Something she just isn't very good at. Thus the 'B'
star status. And Wonder Woman is about a superhero and not a cheap tit
flick.
APR 21:
Voyager Episode:
This weeks episode 'Live Fast and Prosper' was directed by Next
Generation's LeVar Burton. Burton also has said that is ready to
reprise his role in Star Trek 10 should his character be in the

likely play a dual role in the film. The film will earn him $5M
against 5% of the gross.

APR 20:
MI2 in the Can:
Literally it could be in the toilet with Paramount wanting the 3 hour
picture, 'Mission Impossible 2' cut down by 40 minutes. John Woo is
raging around trying to cut 40 minutes by May and still have some kind
of story to tell. (Jeffrey Welks Reel.com)
APR 20:
$6B Man:
Once to be a serious picture will now be a comedy remake of the 70's

Star
Trek Voyager's Roxann Dawson (B'Elanna Torres) was nominated for an
ALMA for outstanding actress in a TV series. The awards will air on
ABC June 17.
APR 19:
Stargate SG1:
This showtime series in sydication has to have one of the
largest fan bases, yet is the least talked about on the internet. With
the third season in production, season four has already been
greenlighted on Showtime. The cast is signed through five season. Many
on the show believe there will be at least six seasons of the series.
APR 19:
Pretender Ending?:
While this
show sits on the bubble with Early Edition and talks are that this is
the Pretenders final season the ratings show otherwise with Now and
Again, Pretender, and Early Edition scoring in the 6+ ratings beating
out Fox's X-Files that they are so hot to have back for season 8.
APR 19:
Roswell change:
Changing to Mondays at 9pm improved ratings slightly going from 3.5M
viewers to 3.8M viewers according to the Hollywood Trade Papers. Not
really much of an increase to save the show.
APR 18:
MIB 2:
This one is suddenly getting some serious press with Will Smith
recently saying he was signed up and ready to go. Fiorentino is also
ready to do the sequel and believes that she is the only actor from
the first film affordable for the remake. The original film made
$589.7M world wide. After total costs to actors, producers, director,
dreamworks and advertising there wouldn't be much left for Columbia
Pictures should the sequel make the same $$$$. Tommy Lee Jones has yet
to be signed or even contacted regarding the sequel. Can you imagine a
sequel to expensive to make. Amazing.
APR 18:
Screaming for 10:
After promising this would be the final Scream in the franchise,
Miramax may have other plans. They have aquired the domain names
Scream4.com thru Scream10.com. As of right now none of the cast or
crew are interested in returning to the franchise.
APR 18:
Legend DVD:
Ridley Scott is busy with new DVD cuts of Legend and Blade Runner. The
Legend Directors Cut will have 30 minutes of never before seen footage
and the European score from John Williams rather than the US versions
Tangerine Dream Score (thank goodness). It will also be packed with
supplemental material. No exact release date has been set for the DVD.
This is said to be one of Tom Cruise's worst films. I thought it was a
well done film.

supplemental material. It is due in the fall of 2k.

mini-series about battling monsters in China. Another Hallmark
Produced show. David Henry Hwang wrote the script.
APR 17:
JOT note:
If the series had been an hour versus the current half-hour format
Bruce Campbell would have passed on the role. The shooting schedule of
22 eps in six months instead of the nine months for a one hour show
made it feasible for Campbell to accept the part. (expose)
APR 17:
Shatner Voiced:
He will do a voice for the animated feature 'Osmosis Jones'.
APR 17:

APR 17:
Xena ends @ 6:
Next season will
be Xena's sixth and final season. Producer Tapert, Lawless and
O'Connor are ready to call it quits. The show is doing well
enough to probably continue beyond next year, but everyone is pretty
much expended on the show.
APR 17:
Dark Chrystal 2:
Just kidding! Lucas wouldn't dare do this one... well, he might. He
did do the terribly horrific... 'Dark Star'. And I think it is
actually coming to DVD soon.YIKES!
APR 16:
Redemption:
Trimark Pictures has bought a pyscho-thriller script 'Redemption' by

HERE.
APR 16:
Forbidden Planet Remake:

CANCELLED SHOWS:
view what shows have been cancelled so far this season.
APR 15:
Buffy News:
Alyson Hannigan's character Willow on 'Buffy, the Vampire Slayer' will

season four's episode 'Hush', played by Amber Benson.
APR 15:
Lord of First Wave:
Ex-porn queen Traci Lords has signed to co-star with Sabastian Spence
to help fight the Gua. She will play Jordan Radcliffe. I sure like
this addition to the show. Traci Lords is one sexy lady. She should
fit the show extremely well.
APR 14:
Killer Klowns:
On the Sci-Fi Channel
Sunday at 10am you can catch the cult movie 'Killer
Klowns From Outerspace'. You'll have to
suffer through commercials and some editing for TV but it is a great
'B' Movie. Don't miss it.

market by Western International Syndication, of the 22 episode first
season.
APR 14:
Lying on Wars:
Many are reporting
that Star Wars episode one sales are great and may break many sales
records. However, they are comparing world sales to US sales. The
shelves are full of the videos and they are NOT selling as expected,
even at $10 belowe SRP. Generally, US movies are released in the US
first and the other countries follow months later. Star Wars in the
first film to ever be released world wide on the same date. So, the
Star Wars Episode One sales are far, far, far away from the expected
sales.
APR 14:
DoLittle 2 $$$$:
Eddie Murphy has signed to do the sequel as most of you already knew.
However... did you also know that Mr. Murphy will be getting $20M and
a percentage of the profits as well. Let's just hope that it isn't
true that Eddie Murphy has signed on to do the classic remake, 'The
Incredible Shrinking Man'. That would be horrible.
APR 13: Blake
7 Movie: In the new movie in development based on the BBC
series. Series regular Paul Darrow, as the evil Avon, will
reprise his role in the new movie. The new film will get a high tech
look, but retain the charms of the old series.
APR 13:
Alien 5 rumor:
According to a note to the Ain't It Cool website, Channel 5 in
Scotland during their exclusive show reported that FOX has Alien 5,
The Gates of Hell in production and Sigourney Weaver will not be
involved. It ain't true folks. However it could always be in
development at FOX. But it isn't in production.
APR 12:
Gillian in line now:
Gillian Anderson seems to be changing some attitude now after saying
she would not be back for an 8th season. In a recent report she says
she now believes that the X-Files will be around for one more season.
With only two eps to go Chris Carter isn't sure what to write.
Anderson thinks a final 8th season could be extremely lucrative for
fox who could advertise the shit out of it.

The latest potential candidate that has been thrown into the mix is
now Roswell's Colin Hanks
APR 11:
Genre Undecided:
CBS renewed 8
shows which did include JAG, Walker, Texas Ranger and Touched By An
Angel. However Now & Again, Early Edition and Martial Law are
floating on the bubble and won't be decided until May. The ratings for
Now & Again along with Early Edition have been just off those of
the X-Files which FOX is hot to have back for an 8th season. Weird.
Hope all three of them are renewed.
APR 11:
Sheena Production:
Gina Lee Nolan's new series, Sheena: Queen of the Jungle, is due to
begin production in June on location in Orlando Florida. Not much
jungle there. Mostly swamp. Most likely they'll be filming at Busch
Gardens. That is in Tampa though, I think.
APR 11:
Save Roswell?:
Fans of the
struggling show are taking out two ads in the Variety magazine. The
first one will appear April 10. The WB will not decide the shows fate
until May when the new schedules for next year are due.

APR 10:
Episode 1 @ 5M:
The shelves are stocked. Five million copies have been sold world wide
and FOX has shipped 15 million copies around the world. Everyone is
claiming its huge success at this point. But is five million world
wide really that good compared to other films? Nahhhhh....
APR 10:

The action/thriller written by Eric Kmetz was purchased by Paramount
Pictures for a low six figures. The story centers on an innocent man who discovers that he is the target in a deadly, underground game of tag and
must run from a band of assassins. This death-tag is run by a group of wealthy businessmen who gamble on it.
This was scripted from a pitch by producers Faigenblum and Weinberger

Hamilton Out of T3:
Terminator killer Linda
Hamilton, aka Sarah Connor, has been contacted about reprising her
role in Terminator 3 & 4. While she said she would have to
see the script first, she is NOT interested in doing the pictures
unless her ex-husband James Cameron is going to direct them. She is
loyal to her ex. Gimmee a break. Do you really care if she is in it or
not?
APR 10:
BloodQuest CGI: Games Workshop's Warhammer 40K BloodQuest is coming to the big screen
as a CGI film. A tale of the legendary Blood Angel Space Marines.
Exile Films will produce and market the film, while Games Workshop
handle the merchandising end of it. With CGI this should be better
than the animated Starship Trooper series.
APR 10:
U571 scores:
Though not yet finished with post-production, the film was shown to a
couple of research screening and the audience response was overwhelming.
Could be a surprise hit of the summer
APR 9:
Unlikely Recall:
Don't expect 'Total Recall 2' anytime soon, or at all, says Jonathan Frakes
(Star Trek) who was to direct the film. Say Frakes, "They blew
smoke up my ass four years ago and nothings happened since. It's
either because Miramax doesn't want to spend $100M on the film or the
state of Arnold's career at the box office."

The X-Files David Duchovny, Moulder, is interested now in returning

Profiler 2.4, Beastmaster 2.4, Earth: Final Conflict 2.4, the Lost

APR 9:
Episode 2 delay:
With an already extreme 2k2 release date producer Rick McCallum has
said, that filming has been pushed back from this month to at least
june. Lucas has yet to finish the script for episode 2. After nearly
twenty years before starting the prequels wouldn't you pretty much
have them done? Putting two to three years between the sequels is just
ridiculous. and unfair to the fans who have stuck around all these
years and even gotten their children involved in this. We'll have a
Matrix trilogy and Lord of the Rings trilogy done before we finish up
this Star Wars thing.

APR 8:
EP1 Sales Suck:
Perhaps the fans of the world are showing Lucas what they think. VHS
sales of the $430M Star Wars Episode One have been extremely less than
expected. And the VHS is being offered at up to $10 off the suggested
retail price of $24.99. The stores you will find are stocked and there
aren't buyers hanging around them. It is not to say it isn't selling
though. But sales are not reaching the expected revue of a Toy Story
or Titanic when they came out. You can only hope it stays that way.
APR 8:
X-Men Animated: The Kids WB have
ordered 13 episodes of the new animated series. It will be produced at
Film Roman.
APR 8:
EFC: Now
previously rumored cast changes may not happen for season 4.
Richard Chevolleau & Lisa Howard are still negotiating. Hemblen
(as Doors) is leaving while the characters of Zo'or & Da'an will
be seen less next season. This a show that has no set direction. No
storylines for the long haul. They never know what direction they are
planning to go.
APR 8:
Indy 4 rumor: Here is another
rumor for the long anticipated, but unlikely fourth film. Indy will be
in search of Atlantis. Lucasfilms and Dreamworks will joint venture on
it. And SWEP1 Rick McCallum will produce.
APR 8:
Arach Attack:
Devlin and Emmerich (Centropolis) will produce the Sci-Fi Comedy
about, what else, giant spiders. Ellory Elkayem will direct the film
which he also co-wrote with Jesse Alexander. The films budget

least one third of his personal library is dedicated to Vampire
Literature.
APR 7:

in 'From Hell'. Depp plays Jack the Ripper in 1880 London.
APR 7:
Sabrina to WB:
Viacom has inked
a 2 year commitment of 44 eps to move 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch' from
ABC to the WB next season. Warner offered less money per episode than
ABC but offered a two year deal that plays well for money going into
syndication rerun rights. The series was ABC's highest rated TGIF
show. A great deal for Warner Brothers. ABC had offered $1.5M per ep.
for one season while Warner offered $685K per ep on the two-year deal.
APR 7:

Terminated: UPN is pulling
the plug on its disappointing series 'Secret Agent Man', by Barry Sonnenfield, after just
5 episodes. The show has a 12 episode commitment. It could re-appear sometime this summer.
It wasn't very good. Even 'The Strip' was a better show.

In 2k1 George Lucas will be reaching into fans pockets
again, if you let him, with a newly announced Lucasarts Entertainment Star Wars
play station game. Hope the Star Wars fans have thick skins, and deep pockets.

It isn't up the
ratings charts. But they will be moving to a Monday at 9pm time slot opposite Ally
McBeal beginning April 10. In order for them to change to more Sci-Fi stories next seasons

happy with the time slot and day move. As yet, Roswell has not been renewed.
APR 6: Star Patrol: Fox has ordered a pilot
movie for a series titled 'Star Patrol'. A Sci-Fi parity to Star Charles Rocket of

been added to the list of upcoming SF series in the Channel
News area.
APR 6: Spawn 2: Todd McFarlane is still negotiating
with New Line Cinema as he continues to work on the script for the sequel that will again
star Michael Jai White. The animated series Spawn on HBO is doing extremely well.
APR 5: Babylon 5 is Sci-Fi:
The Sci-Fi Channel has aquired the exclusive rights
to four telefilms and 112 episodes of Babylon 5 from Warner Brothers. B5 will begin airing
Sept. 25, Monday thru Friday at 4pm PST. This is one of the most popular Sci-Fi
series.

Martin over the BMW he had been abusing for the next two films. Ford will be increasing
the production of the Aston Martin.
APR 5: Level Nine Series: A new series about a top-secret government agency
that guards the computer-dependant world will be coming to UPN in the near future. The
series will star Saturday Night Live alum Tim Guinee. An actual air date has yet to be
announced.
APR 5: Indy 4 rumor: Indy 4 will be searching for
Atlantis. Lucasfilm and Dreamworks will joint venture and Rick McCallum (EP1) will
produce. Of course Harrison Ford could be in his seventies by the time they do the film.
Or the trilogy makes it to DVD.
APR 5: Prey for it: The
series Prey which is airing on the Sci-Fi Channel has two episodes left airs Sunday nights
at 5 & 8pm. This was an extremely well done series. It is to bad the show was
cancelled after just 13 episodes. Another series the networks never promoted or bothered
to change broadcast days or times to find an audience. This show was really good.
APR 4: Robocop PD:
Julian Grant reports he is
closing in on a deal with US distributors that should be done within the next 60 days.
Editing should begin on the third film should begin in the next few days. On the website
the trailer should be downloading much faster now. You can check out the website at http://www.robocop-pd.ca . Read all the Robocop PD

APR 4: Bond for 007: It appears that after some negotiations Pierce Brosnan
will be James Bond for another 4 films, bringing his total to 7. His 7th film as Bond,
would be released in 2007 for Brosnan's #7 as 007. Hmmmm, interesting.
APR 4: 451 over: After 3 years and 10 rewrites for
Icon Productions, Ray Bradbury is very disappointed that Mel Gibson is no longer
interested in doing Fahrenheit 451. It was rumored that Tom Cruise would have starred in
the remake.
APR 4: Xena Ending?: Well, producers have promised
one more season at least. But producer Robert Tapert is suggesting that this sixth season
will be the last. The series has really gone downhill since Xena got pregnant and had the
child. Big mistake, time to end the show. Alot of the episode storylines have been
extremely silly.
APR 4: Posse: SFX wizard, Stan Winston will produce
the new Disney SF action/ western/ comedy 'Posse'. Adam Rafkin will write and direct the
picture. Disney will approve the film once they have a completed screenplay. (variety)
APR 3: ID4 DVD: The 2-disc set Special Edition will hit stores June
27, 2k. The Special Edition includes 5.5 hours of special goodies, 550 stills from the
movie production, 9 minutes of deleted footage restored including a surprise alternate
ending. (Don't know if the alternate ending is restored or not) SRP will be $34.98.
(Costco will likely to have at $27.99 or less)
APR 3: SWEP 1 on VHS: If there are any fans
still out there after all the shit Lucas has pulled, I don't see how, the new VHS is out
there to purchase @ $16.99. The collectors edition is due out April 4, but you will find
it on some shelves already, is the widescreen version with some not so great material @
$34.99. The quality is being considered... terrible. And the widescreen version is NOT
worth the extra $$$$. Can you say "George! You are ripping us off,
again!".
APR 3: Sleepy Hollow: The Tim Burton, John
Depp thriller has creeped its way past the $100M mark. This picture is just as good as
Sixth Sense that made $290M. Odd how peoples tastes are.
APR 3: Cameron Out Again: James Cameron has again
backed out of another project. It appears that genre director David Nutter will now cover
the directing duties of the TV pilot/movie 'Dark Angel'. So far he has backed out of
Terminator 3, Spiderman, and Planet of the Apes. He is reportedly now working on the True
Lies sequel.
APR 3: Heavy Metal 2000: The Eastman animated
feature that was suppose to be some big anticipated picture sequel to ,Heavy Metal' has
been rename from Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2. This once blockbuster picture will now air on a
cable network. July 10th Heavy Metal 2000 will air on ENCORE exclusively. DVD shortly
after that. This picture will be a mix of cutting edge CGI and 2D animation.
APR 3: Moore for Hannibal: Julian Moore has been
signatured in to replace Jodie Foster in Ridley Scott's Hannibal. Gillian Anderson would
have been awesome in this role.
APR 2: Braga To Stay: Brannon Braga will be leaving
his executive producer role on Voyager, but not as soon as previous predicted. He will
remain as Voyagers executive Producer next season until the new series requires most of
his time.

Anderson, Skully, stated that even though she is signed for an 8th season season, she
says she will
NOT be back next season. (changes her tune around April 8)
APR 2: Fantastic Four: Fox's FF feature film is
being pushed back again now that Chris Columbus is tied up with Harry Potter. And he will
be the executive producer for the Fantastic Four film. Due to current special effects they
are tinkering with the script. Columbus says that the way the script is written right now
it would cost over $260M to make the picture.
APR 2: Jurassic Park 3: Filming will be in Hawaii
for the third installment. The script however is being tweaked by William Goldman because
of plot problems.
APR 2: Segal Wounded: Steven Segal, as previously
mention here, has signed to star in a Joel Silver film titled 'Exit Wound'. It is in the
genre of Segal's first film. It is hoped it will re-animate his career. Steven Segal has
already lost 30lbs as required, and there is still three months before production starts
on the film. I hope it works. I enjoyed most of his movies, even though the names changed
but the character was always the same.
APR 2: Sixth Sense @10: Bruce Willis' movie
has passed 'The Empire Strikes Back' at the number ten spot on the highest grossing film
domestic list with $290M.
APR 2: TNT: Witchblade has moved into post

Sorry, but I don't need another mommy and daddy. I already a set one.
APR 2: Net King: Steven King has made $450K off his
recent internet only short story at $2.50 each. Amazon.com was giving the short story
away.
