some awesome space art. Great pieces of artwork for printing or use as
computer background images. Check them out and pick one. Feel free to

JULY 31: Crusade
Dead: Paul
Verhoeven told the crowd at the San Diego Comic Con that Arnold
Swartzenegger still held the crusade property rights and the project was
dead as far as he was concerned. (chud) If Arnold doesn't start selecting
some better roles his career could be the same.
JULY 31: Klumps
of Dough: Eddie Murphy's latest feature, 'The Klumps' has reap the
rewards of a great weekend eating up $42.7M. What Lies Beneath fell

this one).

name.
JULY 31: Misc
News: Cable Rates: The Government accounting office released July
20, that "Cable rates have been rising faster than the rate of
inflation in recent years." says Fetngold. "This baseline study
will decrease now that congress has allowed competition that provide
direct broadcast satellite service to include local network broadcast
stations as part of their package." Something needs to happen now, to
get prices down.
JULY 31: Swordfish: The John Travolta
feature is scheduled to begin production in Sept. 2000. Also starring will
be Ben Affleck and Vinnie Jones (british actor) who will play the computer
hacker. Travolta will play the worlds most dangerous spy. Travolta would
be an awesome nemesis for Tom Cruise in a 'Mission Impossible 3' feature.
JULY 31: Starship:
Marvel's Stan Lee is working on the animated version of Gene Roddenberry's
'Starship'. It was last reported dead, since they had no one to do the

site or are considering it. Click Here
to check out the links page.
JULY 30: Forbidden
Planet:
Looks like New Line has put this remake on the back burner for now due to
available funds. New Line has already committed a ton of cash for scifi
genre films like 'the Cell', 'Lord of the Rings trilogy', and 'Jason X'
and doesn't have the funds for another extravagant big budget Sci-Fi
remake.
JULY 30: Napster
Huts Industry: Michael Kahn reports, a failure to negotiate with
Napster may come back to haunt the Industry because working with the
Silicon Valley firm may be the best way to grab a piece of the online
music pie. The lawsuit has only helped Napster swell it user base to 20+
million in the past year.
JULY 30: Bond
DVD 3: The next boxed set is due out Oct. 17, 2000 with only 6 features with a
SRP of $134.96. Amazon.com is pre-selling them for $94.48. The six Bond

cybersquatting case over the website 'www.sting.com because it is not his
real name. Michael Vruan can continue to use the web address he has owned
for the last 8 years. The artist known as Sting failed to prove that he
Mr. Vruan tried to sell the domain name.
JULY 30: TV
Online: You do realize that someone could open a Napster like site
for sharing TV shows and movies, based on the currently video copyright
laws stating that you can record videos for non-commercial use. Sure you
would be under the same gun as Napster quickly, but that outcome would be
essentially the same for a video sharing website. Hhhhmmmmmmm...
JULY 30: Misc
News: John Stamos, Full House, has signed a one year talent and development deal
with Warner Brothers Television. He will be available to the WB for its

Nation, Bewitched, Baseball Tonight, Dr. Who (variation 2 not the most
famous), Dick Van Dyke, Remington Steele, Robocop the series, Rockford
Files, and I have repaired the screwed up 'Walker, Texas Rangers'.
JULY 29: Spiderman:
According to Dark Horizon we may hear the words officially that Tobey
McGuire will star as the webslinger in Sam Raimi's live action
feature 'Spiderman'. I still think 'Chris O'donnell' should have been
Spiderman. Much better actor and built for the role.
JULY 29: Anderson
Extends: Despite all the whining about not wanting to do this season and how
tired she was, wanting to move on to something else, Gillian Anderson has
extended her contract for one more year beyond this season. Chris Carter
is even confident of the shows long-term prospects with Robert Patrick now
in the fold.
JULY 29: Apes
News: Tom Roth and 'the Green Miles' Michael Duncan have signed on
to Tim Burton's next nightmare 'Planet of the Apes'. Roth will play the
head Ape warrior with Duncan playing his 2nd in command. Yunno the apes
will look incredible with creature master 'Rick Baker' designing the
Apes.
JULY 28:
Crow-less?: There still is no release date for the 'The Crow: Salvation'. Whether it
gets released or not, we will see it in early 2k1 in 'The Crow Boxed Set'.
Pressman is hoping for at least a partial release before the boxed
set comes out.
JULY 28: Dark
Angel: Fox's new series will be set at a running time of 41 minutes. That's only

Jones 4: Harrison Ford says if they make the movie soon, is in
shape and can still do his own stunts.

Premiere: Star Trek Voyager 'Unimatrix Part 2' will air Oct. 4 @ 9pm on UPN. The
first part (season cliff-hanger) will air @8pm to kick off the start of

this show for them NOT to get home. If we are lucky it will be before the
end of the season so we can see all the story arcs come to an end.
JULY 28: X-Mars:
Looks like X-Men's
Femke Janssen (deep rising) may be taking on Courtney Love's recently
departed role in John Carpenters 'Ghosts of Mars'.
JULY 28: Godzilla
2000: Saw
some previews for this. Yow! Talk about a true low-budget 'B' Movie, this
is it. Even the short scenes in the previews couldn't hide the cheap
budget on this flick. Save your money and wait for the video.
JULY 28: Scooby
Doo: Well,
sites around the web are reporting a rumor that Raja Gosnell (Big Momma's
House) may be directing the live action (box office flop) Scooby Doo.
Couldn't we just have a new Scooby Doo cartoon feature? Live action? Rocky
and Bullwinkle all over again...
JULY 28:
Sabrina: Punky Brewster, Soleil Moon Frye, will be joining the cast of 'Sabrina,
the Teenage Witch' on the WB this fall. Frye will play Sabrina's
streetwise roommate.
JULY 28: Sub-Mariner:

the more famous DC comics hero, 'Aquaman'.

'Cold Shoulder' on CBS.

the Talisman'. UPN is the only channel giving the genre fans constant
movies to enjoy, even though they are low budget movies.
JULY 27: Spam
Busters: House Bill 3113, the unsolicited commercial electronic
email act of 1999 passed by a 427 -1 vote. This is a national law that
BANS unsolicited junk email.

Worlds' Grayson McCouch. The series revolves around a haunted hospital.

commercials to DVD, video archiving and transfer of home movies and videos
to DVD. Of course the price is not yet known. Expect in the $1000+ range
to start out. Image transferring all those VHS collections to DVD. Hooo
Hooo!!
JULY 26:
BBC Cuts: The BBC will be cutting an additional 900 jobs, bringing
the total to 1100 over the next three years in order to free up money for
programming. Most cuts will be middle management, finance, and marketing.
Every company is top heavy. Most forget that your 'HOURLY' personnel do
the bulk of the work, and are the backbone of a company. And yet! They are
the most unappreciated of the company.
JULY 26: Black
Knight: Martin Lawrence, coming off 'Momma's House' has signed to star in 'Black
Knight'. He will receive at whopping $16.5M for the role. Darryl Quarles,
who wrote Momma's House, will provide the script for the feature. This
will be a fantasy/comedy. (cinescape) Use to take a run of big hits to get
that kind of money. Not anymore.
JULY 26: What
Lies Beneath: Even though the feature had some slightly less than stellar reviews, the
film was number one at the box office with $30.1M. The X-Men was number 2
with $23.7M but, that was a huge drop off from its opening week.
JULY 26: Misc

McGinley.
JULY 24: Gladiator
Still #1: World Wide Gladiator is still the number one picture of the summer raking
in over $360M while Mission Impossible 2 'Cruises' at its heels with over
$316M. That amount puts both films onto the top 50 most grossing films of
all time.
JULY 24: Misc.
News: With sagging sales Taco Bell has changed their advertising
agency, and dumped the talking Chihuahua. I am sure it is the dogs fault
sales are sagging, and not the quality and quantity of food. I am wonder
if anyone really bought the food, because some... dog, told you too? Well,
maybe?
JULY 24: Low
Budget Flicks: Doing low budget films has turned Dimension Films into a feature film
powerhouse. Some low budget films they have coming include, 'Spy Kids',
'Dracula 2000', and 'Imposter' (a futuristic thriller). These types of
films don't have to be blockbusters at the box office to be blockbusters.
And they often become franchise films, like... 'From Dust Til Dawn', and
'the Faculty'. (variety)
JULY 24: Spy
Kids: Dimension Films enjoys the low budget flicks like 'Scary Movie' that make
huge dollars. Robert Rodriguez is doing the low budget flick 'Spy Kids'
with quite a few familiar faces, for Dimension. Spy Kids has 350 special
effects. These will be done by Rodriquez's own FX Shop. The kicker is,
that his effects shop is in his garage. That is impressive, and a HUGE
budget saver. (variety)

The voices joining the
Simpsons during this season include... Stephen King, Edward Norton,
Michael Keaton, and Drew Barrymore.
JULY 24: Disney
Gets Some Bruck: Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, (Pearl Harbor) has signed on with Disney for

of the Hill: The
series enters it fifth season this fall with the voices of Brendan Frasier,
Kathy Bates, Carl Reiner, Snoop Dogg and Lisa Crow.
JULY 24: No
Emmy?: There is an Emmy for ever category, except our genre. Piss
on the effects and bullshit awards like that. Why not, 'Best Sci-Fi
Series'. Best actor and actor in a genre based series. Best
performance as an Alien. Why not? the WB, Fox and UPN are making a living
off of genre series.
JULY 24:
No Love on Mars: Variety is reports that 'Ghost of Mars' co-star Courtney Love has injured
her ankle and forced to drop out of the John Carpenter feature 'Ghosts of
Mars' starring Ice Cube. The schedule is tight and must start filming on
August 8. No word on her replacement yet. The bitch of it is, she injured
the ankle training for the role in the film.
JULY 24: Opie
Does Thriller: Ron Howard, Opie Taylor, and 'How the Grinch Stole
Christmas' director will be directing a thriller titled 'The Chechnya'.

the film once he finishes directing Universal's 'A Beautiful Mind'.
JULY 24: Show
Me The Money: By starring and producing Mission Impossible 2, Tom Cruise has so far made
$70M from the film. Domestically the film has grossed over $207M. ($319M+
World Wide) That is a nice payday.
JULY 23: Campbell
Movie: Bruce Campbell has a new genre
movie coming out titled 'Nobody Knows'. A time traveller comes back to the
past and prevents J.F.K.'s assassination. Campbell, (jack of all trades,
Brisco County Jr.) plays William Roberts, a famous filmaker. Other cast
members include... Victor Slezak, Vince Strant, Capreice Benedtetti, Larry
Drake, Barry Corbin, and Ralph White as the time traveler.
JULY 23: Images
Needed: Come On People!!! I am looking for 5X7 or 8X10 high quality images of older
and newer Television Shows. Frasier, Home Improvement, the Invaders 60's,
Time Tunnel, The Flash, Any old scifi/horror/fantasy series, and popular
new shows. Scanned at 150 dpi would be best at least at 100% of image size.
Contact me and I'll give you an email address that can handle that size
email. Any help is appreciated.
JULY 23: Black
Scorpion: The new series from Roger Corman, premieres on the SFC the first quarter
of next year. The series will star Michelle Lintel (a former miss Kansas).
She plays a cop by day, and a 'Superman/Spiderman/Batman like creature by
night. Scott Valentine will costar with Adam West in the series, which
will feature 17 Playboy Playmates and Penthouse Pets. (TCA Press) (this a
follow-up to previously reported material)
JULY 23: Pretending
on TNT: According to the TV Guide Insider, plans for a two hour movie as a
conclusion for The Pretender have been scrapped in favor of a series of Pretender TV movies on TNT.
JULY 23: Time
Traveler: The rarely shown Television
Series Pilot, from Irwin Allen, shown on ABC in 1976, is airing on
Encore's Action Channel July 25 (twice) and once on July 26. Check your
listing fro exact times. Time Travelers stars Richard Basehart, Tom
Hallick, Same Groom and Trish Stewart.
JULY 23: Fox
Marvels: With the success of X-Men FOX is looking forward to a sequel, they
continue to move forward with their other big name Marvel projects that
they have in the... Fantastic Four, Daredevil, and Silver Surfer.
JULY 23: Black
Panther: Looks like Wesley Snipes is still attached to the 'Black Panther' project
through Amen Ra Films. Amen Ra's Prez. Kimiko Fox told Cinescape's Gina
McIntyre, "This is something Snipes has been trying to put together
for a long, long time. We've actually been talking to Blade scribe David
Goyer.
JULY 23: Planet
of the Apes: The
short lived Television Series lasted a mere 14 episodes on CBS in 1974,
and ten episodes were turned into five television movies to make money off
the series. Download the series cover sheet from the
VHS Cover Sheet area.
JULY 23: Scary
Money: In just 14 days the feature film, 'Scary Movie', from Keenan
Ivory Wayans, has scared up over $100M. Awesome return for a Dimension
Film low budget project of just $19M. This is great.
JULY 23: X-Men
100: The new Brian Singer feature 'X-Men' will mutate onto the $100M list by
the end of this weekend.
JULY 22: Fantasy
Sci-Fi: With the Sci-Fi Channel airing the short lived series,
remake, Fantasy Island it makes you wonder why the SFC hasn't bought the
rights to ABC's original 'Fantasy Island' starring Richardo Montelbaun
(sp). There was 7 seasons at 157 episodes. Hell of a lot better than a run
of just 13 episodes of an... average series.
JULY 22: Super
Force: The Ken Olandt series lasted two seasons, 48
episodes and aired from Oct. 1990 to May 1992. The series is hardly ever
talked about, and I don't think it has even aired on the Sci-Fi Channel.
If you do have the series, here is a cover sheet for the series.
JULY 22: NBC
New Season: With NBC out of the genre business this season I guess it really doesn't
matter that much that they will NOT begin the 2000 fall season until mid
to late October, after they finish airing the summer Olympics.
JULY 22: Scooby
Snacking: By airing a four hour double feature of 'Scooby Doo'
movies on July 2, the Cartoon Network found itself tied at #2 in the
weekly ratings with TBS at 2.0, for the week of June 26 to July 2. USA
Network was number 1 with a 2.1 rating. Scooby itself brought in a rating
of 2.3, proving the 20+ year old cartoon still has some serious fans,
young and old.
JULY 22: Misc
News: Starksy & Hutch (I need some quality images of this one)
will make its twice a day summer run on TNN later this summer. Starsky and
Hutch was an ABC series from 75 - 79, airing 94 episode in that span.
(pilot counting as 2 episodes.)
JULY 22:
Braga $$$$: Brannon Braga's new 3 year deal with Paramount is in
the high seven figures. The deal includes developing the new Star Trek
series for UPN. He'll also produce & develop other series for the
studio.
JULY 22: Terminator
3: Ridley Scott may take a crack at Terminator 3 after he finishes up
'Hannibal', according to Reel.com's Jeffrey Wells. For two seperate places
Wells hears the same thing. Nothing is official or firm yet. But it does
seem likely.
JULY 21:
Robocop USA: There
are rumors afloat that Julian Grant's and Fireworks 'Robocop: Prime
Directives' will air in the United States on the Sci-Fi Channel or
HBO. If the SFC gets their hands on it, they'll commercial the hell
out of it, but will show it a few times. If HBO gets it, many will miss
it. But it will be shown commercial free and in digital for those with
that option. I would think TNT or USA networks would be more likely. More
money to spend in that direction. And we know USA Net. doesn't spend a lot
on SFC first run movies. I'm hoping for HBO.
JULY 21: LEXX
Webbing It: On July 24, the Sci-Fi
Channel will stream an episode of LEXX titled, 'the Web' directly to their
site, SciFi.com, in a one time only
broadcast. Be patient, the new site from mothership is now 'flash'
designed and loads slowly on a 56k modem.
JULY 21: Misc.
News: CBS wants Rosie O'Donnell out as the Tony Awards host. The
ratings were dismal in her last effort as the shows host in 1998. She
bowed out in 1999, but was asked back again in 2000. CBS is just looking
out for their ratings. (but remember, ratings don't matter. If it makes
money for the network, it is OK.)
JULY 21: Dune,
MS: If the Dune, Mini-Series is successful, as predicted, then you
can plan on seeing a sequel.
JULY 20: More
Voyager
7: On a continuing note of Voyagers 7th and final season. Ken Biller, reports
we will see Reginald Barclay at least twice, and Counselor Troi at least
once this season. Barclay will appear early in the season and possibly in
the final episode. The two-hour Nov. TV Movie will be titled 'Flesh
and Blood'. When asked AGAIN, if the crew would get home, Biller replied,
"And if we don't take the ship home, we have to ask ourselves exactly
this question-- have we disappointed people that have invested emotionally
for years in seeing the crew succeed with that objective." (norris
& vleet of cinescape magazine) But knowing Paramount, do THEY care.
JULY 20: Disney
Whining Again: Disney continues to lobby against the merger of AOL and Time Warner,
trying to set merging policies for the FCC. Disney whines and sues over
everything they are involved in. What a pain in the ass.
JULY 20: Misc
News: Toilets are no longer safe from ads. ABC has announced plans
for a radical marketing campaign for 'NORM', by putting talking billboads
over urinals in more than 1000 restrooms throughout LA and N.Y. Hey, if
you don't like it... piss on it. ;-)
JULY 20: Prey
Ad: Despite the
fact that two of the lead characters in the series 'Prey' from ABC have
moved on to other successful series, Prey fans took out an ad in the JUNE
22 Variety. This,in an effort to save the short-lived television series.
Another good series cut down before being given a chance to find an
audience.
JULY 19: Voyager
7: Say new executive producer of ST: Voyager, Ben Stiller, "We are
working hard to wrap up some series long arcs" There will be a season
long arc wrapping up the Paris/Torres romance. Even the maguis/federation
tensions will arise again as they get closer to home. Seven will deal with
her humanity still, and Kim will deal with being an ensign on Voyager
forever. Still nothing about when or if the crew will Voyage home. Perhaps
during the two-hour special in November the crew will finally make the
final leap... home. I'm sure most of the stories will base around 'Janeway'
or 'Seven' as they have the last two years.
JULY 18: Queen
of Swords:
Mercury Entertainment Prez, who's distributing Paramount's 'Queen of
Swords' says, "This year, we have something really extraordinary to
show you." This new series is not a female Zorro. Something
different. Look out Xena.
JULY 18: LEXX
on Web: July 24 on 'SciFi.com' they will be streaming the LEXX episode 'the Web'
to the internet, in a one-time online broadcast. The web episode will be
different than the episode broadcast on the Sci-Fi Channel.
JULY 18: Indiana
Jones 4:
Harrison Ford told the 'Calgary Sun' that M. Night Shyalaman doing the
script for Indy 4 was nothing more than industry rumor. But he is looking
forward to doing another Indy film. And hopes that Sean Connery will be in
the film as well.
JULY 18:
Freddy & Jason a go, go: Dark
Horizon is reporting that New Line Cinema has finally given the green
light on the long anticipated 'Freddy vs Jason' project. Production is set
to begin lensing Dec. 16, 2000, with a release date of October 2k1. I
wonder still if they are planning to film the two different endings and
rotating them at the theatres.
JULY 18: Misc
News: Echostar has launched its sixth satellite successfully on a
Lockheed Martin 'Atlas' rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida. This will
expand coverage to Alaska and Hawaii.
JULY 18: Sci-Fi
FONTS: I would like to welcome a link
exchange with Jaap Verhorst's 'Sci-Fi Fonts' site. Looking for some great
fonts, this is the place. Great design, and there are samples of each
fonts so you know what it looks like. take a visit by CLICKING
HERE.
JULY 18: More
Covers: Just
added three more VHS Cover Sheets to the site. Added... 'Spiderman the
series', 'Spiderman, the animated series' and 'Time Trax'.
JULY 18: Galactica
Sciography: I was disappointed that they left out the characters
Boomer, and Athena (maren jensen) Hey, where are they now? What is up with
the Sci-Fi Channel negotiating with Universal on a new Battlestar
Galactica series? For a 40 minute special, a lot was left out. Enjoyed the
show, but needed more. Was nice to let everyone know the show was number
20 when it was cancelled. Ratings mean nothing, even today. ie... Now and
Again, Pretender, Early Edition, the Others, and Profiler can contest to
that.
JULY 18: X-Men
$$$$: The new
X-Men film collected $21.3M on its opening night, Friday. A Three day
total of $57.2M. The highest grossing movie ever for JULY. Excellent
quality picture, and the best Comic character adaption yet. Blade wasn't
bad either, though.
JULY 18: The
Kid: I haven't seen it, but this past Sunday, the theatre it was
playing in here in Vegas, one of many, was sold out. Despite crappy
reviews people are flocking to the picture.
JULY 18: Time
Machine Remake: Simon Wells, grandson of H.G. Wells, is in final negotiations to direct
Dreamworks remake of H. G. Wells, 'The Time Machine'.
JULY 18: Mummy

working with George Lucas on the Episode 2 script.

syndicated hit series, 'the Beastmaster' starring Daniel Goddard. All free
downloads for your personal collections.
CLICK HERE for the Cover Sheet area.
JULY 17: Diesel
Motors On: Pitch Black star Vin Diesel has a new action project to work on titled,
'Diablo'. New Line Cinema has paid $750K against $1M for the Diesel
project.
JULY 17: Fugitive
only OK: The Broadcast Research for OMD USA has rated the CBS Series 'Fugitive'
only OK, and not a hit. That means the show be a good performer, but not a
hit series this year. Actually none of the new shows for the fall were
rated to be hits by the research firm. Only problem is the 'Fugitive'
pilot cost $6M to make. Can a good series maintain that quality on a TV
series budget.
JULY 17: Other
Ratings: All the other genre shows rated from the Broadcast
Research Firm came in as 'borderline' shows. That includes Fox's 'Fearsum'
getting a 2.5 and UPN's 'Freedom' and 'Level 9' along with Fox's
'Dark Angel' coming in with 2's. This is where most of the shows for the
fall came in.
JULY 17: Apes
Casting: Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model, 'Estrella Warren' is in final
negotiations to play Mark Wahlbergs love interest in Tim Burton's 'Planet
of the Apes' remake. Wonder if she'll get a speaking role in this
version being scripted by 'William Broyles'. Filming is due to begin
lensing this fall.
JULY 17: Episode
2 news: Looks like Christopher Walken may be joining the cast of
Episode 2. Possibly playing the role of a Sith Lord. And remember, there
can only be '2' sith lords at the same time.
JULY 17: XFL
in VEGAS: It's official. Along with Los Angeles, Las Vegas will get
a charter team of the new XFL Football League, beginning play in February
2k1. Already announced are Chicago, Memphis Tenn, Orlando, and San Jose
Calif. The new Vegas franchise will play at 'Sam Boyd' Stadium.
JULY 17: They
Nest: Just
another reminder that the USA Network will air they're original movie,
'They Nest' on USA July 25 at 5pm pst. Wonder why the 'SCIFI' Channel
didn't get this picture? It is their kind of movie, right? Oh, I know, the
budget for the picture was to high to air on the that channel. Got it.
JULY 16: New
Cover Sheets: Have
added Robocop: 'Prime Directives' Cover Sheet along with 'Logan's Run' and
'the Beverly Hillbillies'. CLICK HERE
for the complete listing.
JULY 16: Captain
Cruise: Marvel Comics Avi Arad wants Tom Cruise as Marvel Superhero 'Captain
America'. Say Arad, "First, we have to do a script, and then send it
to him. We don't want to go with an unknown. Captain America is too
visible a character. It's definitely going to be someone high
profile." (cinescape)
JULY 16: Plissken
Series: Snake
Plissken will return in 2k1. Except this time, it will be in a weekly
syndicated series titled, 'Escape From New York'. Tribune entertainment is
doing the series. Kurt Russell is involved in the series, but will not be
in the role of 'Snake'. Howard Chaykin (viper) will be the head
writer of the series. (hollywood reporter)
JULY 16: Radical
Trek: Trek producer 'Brannon Braga' has announced that the new Star
Trek series debuting in the fall of 2k1 will be Star Trek at its core, but
the concept will change to a radical degree.
JULY 16: Secret
Agent Man: Broadcasts of the remaining, previously un-aired, UPN Series 'Secret Agent
Man' are hitting about 1.3 in the ratings. Better than Roswell when it was
moved to a different day. Roswell was renewed with a rating of 1.5 &
1.8.
JULY 16: The
Immortal: The
new Lorenzo Lamas series 'The Immortal' has begun production in Vancouver
(where else). The series has already been sold to stations
representing more than 80% of the US television market. The show should be
a dark humorous show.
JULY 16: Invisible
Man: The Sci-Fi Channel has ordered another 9 episodes of the new series that
is doing better than Farscape, Lexx or First Wave (which the SFC is
dogging in my opinion.) (aint it cool)
JULY 15: Daredevil:

and Mark Steven Johnson (grumpy old men) will script the project. The deal
with New Regency and Marvel includes the use of the characters, Kingpin

JULY 15: B5
Widescreen: The Sci-Fi Channel, in its best decision yet, will be
showing 'Babylon 5' in its original format of 'WIDESCREEN' beginning Sept.
25th at 4pm (pst). First Time the series has EVER been broadcast in
widescreen. Nice job SFC!!! Get those VCRs hot. B5 was a syndicated
series, so it should be broadcast in its entirety. No editing. Yes! Why
wasn't this format released on video instead of the pan and scan version?
Maybe DVD?
JULY 15: T3
update: Producers being considered for the film include Ridley
Scott, Roland Emmerich, and David Fincher. Being directors as well, are

of the same name) has been picked up by the Sci-Fi Channel. It will
premiere in the first quarter of 2k1. Batman's Adam West is a series
regular, while the villains will include... Scott Valentine, Frank Gorshin
(riddler), Lou Ferrigno (the hulk), Soupy Sales, and David Landers. Corman
self produced the show, paying for the entire first season filming, hoping
the series would be picked up. The first season is already in the can and
ready to go. Probably would find a larger audience in syndication.
JULY 14: Sum
of all Fears: Paramount wants Ben Affleck to take on the role of Jack Ryan in 'The Sum

of Ryan, Paramount feels it could spawn more movies and bring in a younger
audience to the character.

Mid-Season 2000: While UPN is already adding two genre series for the fall, they have two
more ready to go and a third being considered. The two mid-season shows

how to ruin a great concept.

been making phone calls and working on getting a new version of Babylon 5
back on the small screen. Warner Bros and other studios are interested in
the project. And should it come to pass, J. Michael Straczynski will be

stories to do.

cancelled by the USA network, it may not be completely dead. Says Peta

haven't destroyed the sets yet, so I don't really know." (calgary
sun)
JULY 12: Sorbo Bulks
Down: For his new series Kevin
Sorbo has lost 20lbs and is now much leaner than his Hercules bulk. Sorbo
is now 6'5" 265'lbs with an extremely low 2% body fat. He is still
huge and can do one arm pull ups. He is glad to be closer to home as the
show is filming, where else, in Vancouver Canada. Sure beats the six hears
he spent filming Hercules in New Zealand. (reuters limited)
JULY 12: TV
Themes: There are over 135 television themes in mp3 format in the TV
Themes area. Genre and non-genre shows. MASH, Miami Vice, Roswell,

for the fall with the NBA moving from Fridays to Wed & Thur. Tues
nights will be TNT's original series, with Friday's being devoted to
weekend status of just Movies, movies, movies. Saturday nights will
continue with 'the New Classics'. They want to develop TNT into the
commercial brand on television. Don't have to worry about that. Syndicated
stations smother shows with commercials by even editing 44 minutes one
hour series down to 42 minutes for an extra 2 minutes of commercial space.
JULY 12: VHS
Labels: There is a ton of VHS side and top labels for download.
Check them out for your personal collection.
JULY 12: Chekotay
Talks: Robert Beltran is finally
speaking out over changes in the shows format since 7 of 9 joined
the show, and most of the cast moved into standby roles. At a recent UK
Convention, says Beltran, "The writers don't care about the actors,
particularly since 7 of 9 came to the show. They seem to writer better for
non-humans. But I think if reflects on the them, they're missing the boat
on a very talented cast." Beltran would just like a few scenes per
episode where he could speak like a human being and just making a report
to advance the story along. Read the whole interview on Robert
Beltran's Fan page. This is exactly what I have been saying since Jeri
Ryan, Braga's girlfriend, joined the cast. Great character, but it has
turned most of the cast into fill in characters.
JULY 12: Queen
of Swords: The new syndicated TV Series will be previewed at the
Television Press Tour, as the networks introduce critics to cast and
producers. Reviews of the show should be coming soon.

JULY 11: Scary
$$$$: Over the weekend 'Scary Movie' from Keenan Ivory Wayans set a
box office record for an 'R' rated picture scaring up $42.5M. A weekend
total that is already more than twice the films budget. Scary Movie is a
parady about horror films like scream and I know what you do last
whenever.
JULY 10: Misc.
News: This weeks TV Guide rated the top 25 greatest detectives. Of
my favorites, Jim Rockford was #1. #2 was Columbo, Magnum PI came in
at #5. Baretta at #11, and my all time fav 'Miami Vice' was #15. Starsky and
Hutch cruised in at #20 with Robert Urich's Spencer For Hire at #21.
Hey, where the hell is Dan Tana? Las Vegas' number one detective. That was
a great show!

to star 'Vanessa Williams' (true lies). Lucky guy.
JULY 10: They
Nest: USA
Network will air an original picture about nesting cockroaches, 'They
Nest', on July 25. How come they spend more money for horror/scifi
movies on USA than the low budget scifi/horror pictures for the scifi
channel? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense does it?
JULY 10:
Misc News: Gene Simmons (rock group Kiss, runaway, wanted dead or

Television fan page area where you can select the show of your choice.
JULY 9: SFC
no repeats:
The Sci-Fi Channel has been promising a summer of no repeats. And so far
it has been true. The don't air reruns they just don't show the series.
July 4 weekend, Farscape, First Wave, Lexx, and the Invisible Man were not
shown. The excuse being that they don't want to air their first run shows
during a holiday, or sweeps, etc. Just show the damn television shows. We
have been subjected to over two months of friggin' re-runs and after one
week of new shows we get pre-empted movies. Give me a break. The fans
deserve better.
JULY 9: Deathrace
3000: Things
are proceeding so slow on this film being produced by Tom Cruise, Paul
Anderson, and Jeremy Bolt. Anderson is to direct the film from Paramount.

JULY 8: Chameleon: While watching a commercial
for the UPN's fall line-up, they did not mention Chameleon, but there was

mid-season replacement. Fingers crossed for Bobbie Phillips.

the comic, 'GEN 13'. Disney will distribute and is due to green light the

killed off in ST9: Resurrection. This time in ST10 he is rumored to be
getting his wish in the new storyline. This also appears to be the final
Star Trek picture with the Next Generation crew. So, kill one, kill them
all. It isn't like Spiner's career has taken off since Trek.
JULY 8: Exorcist
Re-release:
A blockbuster in 1973 and nominated for 10 Oscars will again hit the big
screen in a limited re-release. The new release has been cleaned up and
had an additional 12 minutes of footage added to the movie.

Dollar Man. CLICK HERE to view them all.
JULY 5: Shatner
Directing: The Star Trek V director, William Shatner, is taking
another swing at the directors chair in a dark comedy titled, 'Shiva

drowning. I don't think he'll be searching for God this time.
JULY 5: Battlefield
2: Roger Corman told Dragoncon goers that plans for the sequel to the box
office flop, 'Battlefield Earth' is still being considered. The sequel

Picard, will be is in the new 'Star Trek 10' story being considered by
Paramount. Stewart says he doesn't know who the director will be. Buffy's

JULY 5: Invisible
Tops: Yeah,
don't we wish. But the Sci-Fi Channel's new series 'The Invisible Man' has
squeaked by 'Farscape' in the ratings with a 1.6 to 1.5. Invisible is a
lead in to Farscape on Friday beginning at 5pm PST.
JULY 5: Cube

Movie 'Cube', which aired on the Sci-Fi Channel.
JULY 4:
Fletch Returns: Miramax Films has purchased the rights to the Fletch franchise and will
put Kevin Smith in the role of 'Fletch' to re-introduce the character to
fans. Seems a done deal.
JULY 4: Li
Team: Luc Besson will write, produce and finance a film to star Jet
Li. As yet thereis no title, but begins in the fall. This could change
with Li signing on to Matrix 2 and Matrix 3.
JULY 4: Pretending
TNT: Turner Network Television is still considering an interest to acquiring
first run rights to complete the show. I sure hope they get off their
asses and do something. Sure hope they are Pretending. :)
JULY 4: Ultraviolet
Complete: Fox has completed the sexy vampire pilot, 'Ultraviolet'. A new Forever
Knight type series. But they say it will not be as heavy as FK. Kindred
the Embraced was also a short lived FOX series that was awesome. Why not
just try bring that one back.
JULY 4: On
Hostile Ground: From Alliance Atlantis on TBS was the highest rated movie of the week, it
aired, on basic cable. I was a terrible movie. No major highlights in
action, story, or acting. What a dud!
JULY 3: Galactica
Marathon: The Sci-Fi Channel will be airing its annual 'Battlestar
Galactica Marathon' Monday July 3 from 9am to 3am EST. (18 hrs) Can't we
get something other than 'Twilight Zone' and 'Battlestar Galactica'? Same
ones every year.

co-star with Buffy's Michelle Gellar in the non-genre movie, 'Harvard'.
JULY 3: The
Others on SFC: The SciFi Channel (SFC) is negotiating with Dreamworks on an affordable
way to continue 'the Others' on the SFC. It is a very expensive show. Why
not go for the less expensive in 'the Pretender' or 'Now and Again'. Both
had better ratings too.
JULY 3:
Locke & Bull: 'Sliders' Tembi Locke & 'Outerlimits' Andrea Roth have scored recurring
role on the new TNT hour-long series 'BULL'.
JULY 3: Fearsum:
Fox's new series 'FEARSUM' has changed its name to 'Freakylinks'. From
good name to shit name. This title change will hurt the show for sure.
God, that sounds stupid.
JULY 3: New
Trek Series: The new series is set to focus on seven major characters. According to
Berman, look for the new series in the fall of 2k1. But nothing is in
stone.

Pre-production begins in August. There is still a small chance they will
start by the end of the year.
JULY 3: Trek
10: The complete story has been submitted to Paramount for approval prior to
scripting. They have a writer who has never done Trek to bring in a fresh
approach. And it does involve the Next Generation cast. There will be a
great Villain and an extreme space action designed story. Expect a
possible 2k1 release along with the new series.
JULY 2: USA-Viacom: USA lost its case
against Viacom over the WWF. 'Raw is War' was USA Networks #1 rated show.
Says Viacom Chairman, Summer Redstone, to Variety "TNN will now
become the most important network in all of cable." USA couldn't
match Viacom's bigger and broader offer for the rights. TNN will now get
'Raw is War', 'Livewire', and 'Superstars'. Raw will begin airing on TNN
later this year. Under the five year deal UPN will get an extension of its
'WWF Smackdown' and the new XFL extreme football, on Sunday nights
beginning in February.
JULY 1: Robocop
Continues?:
According to Julian Grant, if the Robocop: Prime Directives mini-series is

shoot. I'd need more money and time."
JULY 1: New
Galactica Series?: The Sci-Fi Channel General Manager, Bonnie
Hammer, has confirmed that something is up with Universal over Battlestar
Galactica. They have had some preliminary conversations. Nothing is firm
but they are talking. Hopefully it's Richard Hatch's version turned TV
Series. (cinescape)
