MAY 31: Fugitive
Completed:
525 Studios has completed effects for the one-hour television pilot. The
company worked on more than 50 shots to create the three main sequences of
the pilot.
MAY 31:
Magic For Sale:
Terry Brooks says that 20th Century Fox has optioned the movie rights to
his novel 'Magic Kingdom for Sale: Sold' and all its sequels. A
screenwriter has already been contacted and the scripting is in work. This
doesn't mean that we will ever see it on film. Only 5% of scripts in
Hollywood make it to the big screen. But Terry Brooks did get a
paycheck though. And that is all that matters, eh...
MAY 31: Site
Update:
Just added two new VHS Cover Sheets. 'The Incredible Hulk' and 'Stargate
SG-1'. CLICK HERE to view them all.
MAY 31: Scully's
New Partner: X-Files Gillian Anderson, Scully, is due to get a new
partner who is likely to be a male and skeptical like Scully use to be.
With Moulder in less episodes there will be more screen time for the
supporting players.
MAY 31: Indiana
Jones 4: Dark
Horizon is reporting that Steven Spielberg has confirmed that Indiana
Jones 4 is currently in pre-production. Bout Friggin' time don't ya think.
MAY 31: Mission
$$$$: There are estimates that Mission Impossible 2 will gross between $85M and
$94M by the end of Monday. Wednesday thru Friday the film grossed $37.7M.
Go Cruisin' why don't ya. :)
MAY 30: XFL
on UPN: All UPN affiliates have signed on for UPN's airing of the XFL on
Sunday nights. After the 11 weeks of the regular season Sunday nights
revert back to the control of the local stations. UPN is not planning
to add a sixth night... yet.
MAY 30: Software
News: Hewlett Packard and Side Effects Software have partnered
to provide a high-performance Linux workstation that will run Houdini
4.0 3D animation software.
MAY 30: Marvel
Features: Captain America, Deadpool, Iron Fist, Longshot, Power Pack, Morbius,
Antman, and Mort are scheduled for feature films. It is still unknown
which ones of these will get the Direct To Video treatment. Even
Direct to video features can be extremely lucrative as a cash cow if
done well.
MAY 30: Vitamin
C 2000: Award winning musician 'Vitamin C' has signed to star in Wes Craven's
'Dracula 2000', which begins production this summer.
MAY 30: Impossible
Theme: I have added the opening and closing theme from the
original series 'Mission Impossible'. Click
Here to view all the themes.
MAY 30: Battlefield-less:
With
Battlefield Earth flopping around like a dead fish it would seem
unlikely that there will be a sequel or prequel that was originally
planned.
MAY 29: Cameron
Lies 2: It appears that James Cameron has backed out of another scheduled project. He will not script or direct 'True Lies 2'. They have already
found a scribe for the project that is in active development. Without
Cameron to direct or scribe will Arnold be interested? Cameron is
likely to be producing the picture. Will that be enough to keep Arnold
Swartzenegger on board the project? Does it really matter if he is or
isn't attached?
MAY 29: Black
Scorpion: Foreign buyers are very interested in 'Roger Corman's' first TV
Project... 'Black Scorpion'. A one hour action series based on the 'B'
action flick of the same name. The series premieres this fall in
syndication. The first season is already in the can... (variety)
MAY 29:
the Mexican in Vegas: The in work Brad Pitt/Julia Roberts
flick, 'The Mexican', currently filming in Mexico will be heading to
Las Vegas next. Auditions were held for an extras screening here in
Las Vegas Yesterday from 10am to 2pm at a local park for ages 5 to 80.
Couldn't make it.
MAY 29: Thank
You FX: A special thanks to the FX Channel for the Mission Impossible Marathon
Sunday. It was great to see the series again. A great series. "This tape will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck
Jim." What a line!
MAY 29: The
Strip: The short lived Vegas action series 'The Strip' Returns to UPN for its
final showing of nine episodes beginning Friday June 2nd at 8pm. If you
missed the first showing catch its last run on prime time. I thought the show, with
some tweaking, had potential.
MAY 29: Invisible
Man: The
Sci-Fi Channels original series, which premieres June 9 Fridays at 5pm
(pst), has been sold to France's top broadcaster. Hopefully a sign
that the series will be a hit.
MAY 29: Dark
Angel:
Cameron's new series project, that he backed out of directing, is a
mid-season replacement. An un-named TV Writer viewed Fox's press
screening of part of episode one. He says it was visually stunning
like a feature film, but questioned how you keep this up for a 22
episode season. He was also quoted as saying it was hip like
'Terminator' rather than 'Blade Runner' as promised. (cinescape)
MAY 29: Action
Cube'd: An
action script, 'Straw Dawgz' has been picked up by New Line Cinema for
rapper/actor Ice Cube. He will be a werewolf hunter who has to battle
a new breed of werewolf in San Francisco. (variety)
MAY 28: The
Thing... Again?: It appears that George Clooney will produce a
remake of 'Who Goes There' (aka The Thing) for an unknown television
network. Carpenters 82' remake was true to the original 1950's
original, and it was awesome. Why would you even consider touching
this one? Especially for Television. Heaven forbid should Clooney
produce a new script title that might be unique for a change. Lets
just remake everything.
MAY 28: The
Fugitive: The
new TV Series scheduled for the fall seems to be a hot commodity
at the Global Market Screenings in Los Angele. One buyer called the
series "A most have on the market." But can the series match
a pilot that cost $6M. (variety)
MAY 28: Site
Update: Just added a RELIC HUNTER
Side Label that goes with the Cover Sheet already on the site.
Download it from the Labels area.
MAY 28: Level
9: Also
of considerable interest at the Los Angeles Screenings is Paramount
'Level 9', which is slated in the US for UPN. It will be the
Untouchables of the Internet.
MAY 28:
Fearsome: 20th
Century Fox and Regency series 'Fearsome' scheduled for FOX this fall
has also struck some interest at the screenings also. An internet
maven finds himself in the midst of unusual Sci-Fi Adventures.7
MAY 28: the
Berman 500: Star Trek Voyager's season finale was producer Rick Berman's
500th Star Trek Episode. Berman will be leaving Voyager's producing
duties for their 7th and final season to begin working on the new Star
Trek series. UPN would like to have the new series for the fall 2k1
season to take Voyager's place.
MAY 28: Richter
Departing: This is not genre based news, but bare with me on
this... Conan O'Brien's side kick Andy Richter has taken his final
bow. His is walking away from his $500K a year job because he is bored
and wants to try something different. He has nothing lined up...
What... An... Idiot! I'd do his job for $250K for twenty years. I can
be the fat little bastard making Conan be funny. MY GOD!!! Conan! Call
Me!!! I am available...
MAY 27: Black
Panther: The Artisan/Marvel deal includes 'Black Panther'. This Feature Film
project has Wesley Snipes attached to Produce and Star. Snipes has
been attached to this title for at least two-years. There was mention
of 'Black Panther' with Snipes when he did 'Demolition Man'.
MAY 27: UPN's
Fate: Sometime next week the FCC is to decide the fate of Viacom owning CBS
and UPN. It is expected the FCC will give Viacom a waiver, they
requested, and keep UPN
in the fold.
MAY 27: MI
2 $$$$: Mission Impossible 2 opened Wednesday to an impressive $12.5M. The
fourth highest Wednesday opening of all-time. Should clean-up at the
box office this weekend...
MAY 27: Now
& Again Agian?: Help Save the show! The show may not be as dead as earlier thought.
There is a chance (small chance) that Now and Again could be a mid-season replacement
this fall. There is a campaign to send CBS plastic eggs ala Roswell.
Visit http://slidersweb.net/nowandagain/
for more information on that.
MAY 27: Chicken
Run: I
recently saw a theatre preview for Chicken Run and it left me
wondering... Why the Hell they even did this one. I found nothing
interesting for adult or child. Looks like a flop. I'll stick with
Dinosaur and Titan A.E. This one looks to be a Dreamworks Dud. Ain't
no milk dud either.
MAY 26: Spawn
2: The live action sequel is still in development at New Line
Cinema. New Line is requiring that McFarlane cut another $6M from the
budget in order to get the project green lighted. However, Todd
McFarlane is planning to wait and trigger a clause in his contract
that will give him the rights back. He already has several other
studios that have told him to look them up when he gets the rights
under his control.
MAY 26: The
Punisher Series: This marvel product was not included in the
latest deal with Artisan. Dana Windsor, the producer working on the
Sci-Fi TV Series anthology 'This Way Comes', has been lobbying with
Marvel to do a 'Punisher Series'. He would keep the project true to
the comics with the Punisher after organized crime. But there would
always be opportunities for the other Superheroes and Villains to
cross into the Punishers world. Marvel has yet to comment on Windsor's
desire. If your a Punisher fan, the 'B' movie was excellent. Now
available on DVD @ $19.99 srp.
MAY 26: Special
Unit 2: This one is being considered as a mid-season replacement for UPN this
fall. It will be a 'Men in Black' sci-fi drama about a special
unit with the NYPD that fights what else? Aliens!!! UPN goes genre.
MAY 26: Secret
Agent Man: With May sweeps over with Dilbert and Secret Agent
Man returned to UPN to complete their run of episodes already
completed. Secret Agent Man began tonight. There are only 12
episodes that were done. Five originally aired before cancellation. Click
Here to listen to the Secret Agent Man theme in MP3.
MAY 25: Outer
Limits Limited: The Showtime series 'The Outer Limits' is ending its six year run with
a star filled finale titled 'Final Appeal'. The episode will
star Charlton Heston, Amanda Plummer, Robert Loggia, Kelly McGillis,
Hal Holbrook, Cicely Tyson and others. For syndication there will be 136
episodes. It is currently airing in syndication on the Sci-Fi Channel.
MAY 25: Animated
Spider: A CGI animated series of Spiderman will spin off from
Sam Raimi's feature film. Of course Sony will produce the series.
Still look for 'Spiderman Unlimited' at some point closer to the new
feature or after from FOX. Fox cancelled it originally after just a
few episodes had aired.
MAY 25: Animated
Spawn: Todd McFarlane will begin working on a 90 minute
animated movie in July when he starts on Jody Fosters animated film.
He hopes to sell the film to HBO or another pay cable station. He will
maintain video rights and later to release it.

action adventure series about survivors 60 years after an asteroid has
hit and devastated the World.
MAY 24: George is a Marvel:
Mr. Tan, George Hamilton, has joined Marvel's Stan Lee Media as their
President of Global Branded Entertainment. He will sign new talent and
do voice work for animated programs.
MAY 24: DEN Done In:
Digital Entertainment Network (DEN) has closed up show, after
reopening a week before, stating that low money flow could no longer
support the company. The company has so many problems with excessive
executive salaries, sex scandals, and management problems.
MAY 24: Jason X:
Principal Photography has been completed in Toronto and has moved into
post-production work.
MAY 24: Dreamcast Changes:

CBS own/operated stations to Direct TV customers.

Rosario Dawson,
Rachael Leigh Cook, & Tara Reid along with Parker Posey and Alan
Cummings round out the cast of the live action movie, 'Jose and the
Pussycats' based on the comic book and cartoon series. Cook will play
Jose, Dawson Vale, and Reid will be Melody. Production begins this
Summer. Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan will direct their own script.
(hollywood reporter) This sounds like Charlies Angels. (dud)
MAY 23: Early
Reminder: Don't forget the 4 seasons of Early Edition (which wraps it final CBS
episode Saturday) will be airing on the Fox Family Channel beginning
May 28 as part of their prime time line-up.
MAY 23: USA
Network Purchase: The USA Cable Network has purchased 2
Canadian based networks. The Trio network and Newsworld Intl. for just
over $100M. And is expected to spend hundreds of millions of $$$$ over
the next few years promoting and creating shows with them. The money
would have been better spent improving the program quality of both the
Sci-Fi Channel and the USA Network.
MAY 23: Movie
Advertising: Movies of 1999 that made over $100M in the US
spent on average $20M on advertising. Episode One made the most at
$430M while spending the least advertising dollars at $14.7M. But
Lucas did use the internet quite heavily to create a craze over his
film. That advertising was virtually free.
MAY 23: UPN
to air XFL: UPN and NBC will share XFL games, which kicks
off in February 2k1. The network will carry 10 regular season games.

MAY 23: Not
In the Deal: Not part of the Artisan/Marvel deal were projects
already in development or production. These properties were... Silver
Surfer, Spiderman, Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Dr.
Strange, Blade or The X-Men.
MAY 23: DVD
HACKER Info: Playstation 2 hackers have discovered another way
to use the console beyond it original design. Besides using it to
overcome the Regionalisation software they are now using it to
circumvent the DVDs copy protection mechanism. (use the rgb output
port to VHS unit.
MAY 22: Seawolf:
Imagine Entertainment might be looking at John Travolta as the corrupt
evil Captain Wolf Larsen. He is to old for the lead role, and seems to
do better as the bad guy this late in his career. This project seems
to have been in development hell forever.
MAY 22: Site
Update: Just
added 2 new VHS cover sheets for Cleopatra 2525 and Relic Hunter to
the Cover Sheet Library.
MAY 22: Spy
Game: Director Mike Van Diem has left 'Spy Game' after a
difference of vision and tone with Universal-based Beacon
Communications. Van Diem has spent 18 months working on the Brad Pitt/Rober
Redford project. Why get a director if you plan to control the vision
and tone of a movie. Direct the sucker yourself.

Hornet: Universal's project looks to have Jet Li attached to play Kato. Chris
McQuarrie (the Usual Suspects) will script the picture.

the new Ghost Rider. Possibly using his old script as a base from
which to start.
MAY 21: Big
Money: There are at least 10 males in Hollywood making $15M to
$20M per picture. And at least 50% of these movies are are flops.
Scripts and stories are suffering as scribes work to cut down on
things that will boost production costs. Studios are now unable to
make some pictures due to excessive salaries.
MAY 21: Campbell
Picture: Bruce Campbell began work on a new Science Fiction Movie back in March
for Destination Earth titled... 'Nobody Knows'. Larry Drake (darkman)
is also in the picture.
MAY 21: 5%
success: Do you realize that only 5% of all the scripts sent to
Hollywood make it to the big screen. (cnn) Why? All Hollywood wants to
do is play it safe and continue with movie remakes and bring TV shows
to the big screen. This is screwed up.
MAY 21:Toy
Story 2 $$$$: After 178 days at the box office the picture has grossed $245M.
Matrix, which was much better, only make $171M US. It made almost as
much as Sixth Sense. ($276M)

pen the new script.
MAY 21: Ali-luya:
Will Smith has officially signed to play Muhammad Ali in a docu-drama

not be a blockbuster film. Can you say 'Wild Wild West' revisited.

2:SE DVD: The new DVD is slated for August 29, 2k,
pricing still to be decided. The DVD will come in a metal slipcase and
contain over 6 hours of goodies. Three versions of the film. The
theatrical release, the Special Edition 154 minute version, and a
never before version with five minutes of new footage. (likely the
extra ending that was filmed.) 700 storyboards, a documentary, the
entire screenplay, and one hour of Supplemental Material. This is
going to be a great DVD. It will be done in the DVD18 mode first used
with 'the Stand'.
MAY 20: UPN'
All Souls: Aaron Spellings new series 'All Souls' will be about a Haunted
Hospital. Likely to air mid-season 2k/2k1 season.
MAY 20: X-Files
Go: Fox has
green lighted the X-Files for an 8th season. This one will be the last
season since Gillian Anderson's is only signed for 8 and she doesn't
want to do anymore. Filming of the 8th season is likely to be moved
back to Vancouver Canada.
MAY 20:
Duchovny Signed: David Duchovny, Moulder, has been signed for
next season and will appear in only 9 to 12 episodes of the 22 for
next season. He will receive approx. $350K per episode. The actors of
'Friends' will be getting $750K each per episode next year. Imagine
that.
MAY 20: UPN's
Freedom: A new genre series for UPN will air Friday nights this fall. A
martial-arts action series in the style of Matrix.
MAY 20: UPN's
Level 9: Another genre series by UPN will also join their Friday night line-up.
A high-tech internet police drama.
MAY 20: A
Marvelous Deal: Marvel Comics and Artisan have signed a monster
of a deal. Both companies will co-produce as Artisan has acquired the
rights to most of marvels properties which include... Captain America,
Thor, Black Panther, Power Pack, Deadpool, Morbius, Longshot, Antman,
and others. The agreement includes deals for TV Series, Movies, Direct
to Video, and internet content. Current projects already in work and
development are not affected with this deal.
MAY 19: The
Axe Man Cometh: From recent
news reports CBS has laid the blade to 'Now and Again' and 'Early
Edition'. Now and Again managed just one season of 22 episodes. Early
Edition has struggled with CBS since its debut four seasons ago. Hate
to see them both take an exit. The only near genre series coming to
CBS this fall will be Tim Daly in 'The Fugitive'. And of course
episode 22 of Now and Again left us with a cliffhanger.
MAY 19: Dungeons
& Dragons news: After a few requests for information, I
have been told that Dungeons and Dragons will not be premiering this
summer as expected, but in the summer of 2k1. I have some more news
but can't release it yet. More later.
MAY 19: UPN
update: Viacom with its CBS merger has one year to off
load UPN. However Viacom has asked for a waver to keep the young
network, that they believe will go under without them. It is believed
that they will get the waver from the FCC. More in Channel
News.
MAY 19: Benchley's
Amazon: Despite
my hearing in February that Peter Benchley's new series, Amazon, had
been renewed , I am now hearing that the show has indeed been
cancelled. I never really cared for the series but the three episodes
I watched weren't bad.
MAY 19: Chameleon
3: A quick note to you all that Blockbuster Cinema on UPN will
be showing Chameleon 3 tonight at 8pm, that hopes to clone itself into
a new series for UPN in the fall. Might be worth watching.
MAY 19: Art
of War: Once a Jet Li project turned Wesley Snipe feature film, will come to
theatres in October of this year. Co-starring will be Anne Archer,
Michael Biehn (Terminator & Aliens), and Donald Sutherland. Should
be a great action film.
MAY 19: The
Dukes are Back: While the special effects might have been
nothing more than the 'General Lee' leaping the dried up river beds
and running from Sheriff Roscoe. 'Dukes of Hazzard: Hazzard in
Hollywod' will star the originals, Bo & Luke Duke, Daisy Duke,
Cooter, Roscoe, Cletus, and Enos. While stupid, it is a big part of
television history. It will return for a one last movie on Friday May
19, at 8pm on CBS. ( this Friday)
MAY 19: Rose
Red: Stephen King's next television mini-series, 'Rose Red',
goes before the camera in August 2000. There is a tentative labor day
2k1. (hollywood reporter) His last movie 'Storm of the Century' had a
rather... soft endings. Most of his television mini-series do.
Langoliers, Tommyknockers, ect. The Stand was good though. My favorite
anyways.
MAY 19: Mummy
2: Stephen Sommer's sequel to the blockbuster film 'The Mummy'
will appear at a theatre near you MAY 11, 2k1.
MAY 19: Pitch Black: The surprise hit 'Pitch Black' has grossed $40M and will likely see a
sequel feature that will star Riddick, Vin Diesel, returning. (as
reported on May 16)
MAY 18: New
Farscape Characters: Expect some additional characters to the crew of Moya says writer
& creature consultant Justin Monjo. He will not specify when or
who it will be. "Keep watching," he says. I would if we
didn't have to suffer through 8 weeks of reruns.
MAY 18: Dead
Marines: NBC has passed on Steven Spielberg's TV series 'Semper Fi'. If reworked
the network may pick it up for a fall 2k1 season.
MAY 18: X-Men
update: The
post production is on schedule and nearly completed. Soon they'll
begin pre-dubs, scoring, and mixing the sound track, special effects
and final visuals.
MAY 18: Seawolf
project: Imagine Entertainment might be looking at John
Travolta as the corrupt evil captain, Wolf Larsen. This project seems
to have been in development forever. Perhaps Imagine is moving forward
with the project in the near future.
MAY 18: Nimoy
says No: Cinescape is reporting that Leonard Nimoy has no
interest in directing another Star Trek film. But they haven't asked
either. But if the phone should ring, and the story was good it could
happen.
MAY 17: Robocop
PD done:
Julian Grant says all four TV movies (mini-series), the US will see in
October, are completed and approved by the powers that be. He is now
working on the four promos and getting ready for the one hour special
that will be airing in Canada on 'the Space Channel' in the new few
months. That should be part of the DVD Boxed set, if there is one.
Read all the news and information about the mini-series in the Channel
News Area. It is still as yet unknown which syndicated network
will air the mini-series.
MAY 17: the
Others joins the Others. NBC new series 'the Others' has been cancelled joining its Saturday
Night partners 'the Pretender' and 'Profiler'. It never had a chance
since NBC wanted the 3 hour Saturday night block for the new XFL
games. NBC will air 12 weeks of football in the time block.
MAY 17: Charmed
Renewed: Not that much of a surprise was the WB's Charmed getting renewed for
its third season.
MAY 17: PJ's
on WB: Fox's series 'the PJs' is moving to the WB as reported
last month. The show is scheduled for a Saturday at 7pm slot with
Jamie Foxx following it.
MAY 17: Roswell
Renewed:
the WB has signed with 20th Century Fox TV for at least 13 episodes
next season. Funny how this show with ratings in the 3's while
Profiler, Pretender and the Others were in the 6's.
MAY 17: DS9's
Garak pens Novel: Andrew Robinson, who played Garek on
Deepspace Nine has penned a new Star Trek novel based on his
character. Elim Garak will star in the novel 'A Stitch In Time' by
Pocket Books.
MAY 16: Fantastic
Four 1994:
The unreleased Roger Corman flick 'Fantastic Four' is coming to light
with Chris Columbus producing the new Fantastic Four feature film. The
unreleased film is floating around the internet as a bootleg. The
quality is good at best. The no budget picture used mostly no names
and is quite the cheesey flick. A must have for the video-phile. Chris
Columbus says the current FF movie would cost about $250M so he
working on getting the script tweaked with more story and less SFX.
MAY 16: Gemini:
Touchstone Pictures has put this picture on the fast track. Harrison
Ford and Mel Gibson have been put on the want to star list.
MAY 16: Pitch

According to Variety's Michael Fleming is reporting a potential
treatment has been written and likely to be greenlighted for the
sequel to moderately successful Pitch Black. If it happens Vin Diesel
will be back as Riddick.
MAY 16: Proteus:
Pitch Black director David Twohy has inked a deal with Dimension and
Miramax to write and direct 'Proteus'. The deal also includes Twohy
writing and directing one project for Miramax and another for
Dimension.
MAY 16: Top
DVD Sales: Genre titles rocked for six of the top
ten spots. 1. End of Days (movie sucked), 2. Stuart Little, 3. the
Sixth Sense, 5. House on Haunted Hill, 6. Matrix (awesome movie) and
at 7. Bone Collector (angelina jolie).
MAY 16: Jolie
now a Thorton: Angelina Jolie who will be starring as Laura
Croft has married Billy Bob Thorton here in Las Vegas in a small
ceremony at "the Little Church of the West" on the Las Vegas
Strip near the Tropicana hotel and casino.
MAY 16: Chameleon
3: Just a reminder to potential fans that the third Chameleon
Movie, which may spawn a series, will premiere on UPN Friday night at
8pm. Might want to watch and see if it would be a series that works
for you. She's 97% human and 3% animal dna.
MAY 15: Kingdom
DVD: Did
you enjoy the mini-series on ABC? I didn't see it. The DVD is due out
soon from Artisan at a whopping SRP of $29.99 with NO EXTRA material.
No making of, interviews, nothing. Not a great price for TV Movie that
is about 168 minutes without Commercials. Ehhh...
MAY 15: All
Souls: Another genre series in development for the UPN Network. The series is
a cross between ER and the X-Files. Kind of a return to Dark Skies.
Cast members are to include Daniel Cosgrove (90210), and Grayson
McCough (armageddon). UPN seems to be turning into the mini Sci-Fi
Channel. Review all of UPN's genre series in development in the Channel
News Section of the site.
MAY 15: The
Beast: ABC
has ordered a pilot movie 'The Beast' that revolves around a 24 hour
news network. Terminator 2's Robert Patrick and Frank Legella (skeletor)
are to co-star. Not really sure if this one is genre or not. But
does star two actors who have been in the genre. Particularly Robert
Patrick.
MAY 15: Spiderman:
This has already been reported just about everywhere but Sam Raimi has
picked SFX wizard John Dykstra (Star Wars) as his Visual Effects
Supervisor for the Sony production of Spiderman. Sony is hoping to
begin production of the film by the end of the year. (Hollywood
Reporter)
MAY 15: Monte

Cristo' has signed Guy Pierce (la confidential) to play fernan. The
feature is still to star Jim Cavaziel. The feature is still set to
film in Ireland come July.
MAY 15: Phantom
of the Opera: Warner Brothers has budget this remake of a remake 'Phantom of the
Opera' with $40M. Antonio Banderas still appears set to star. Warner
has hired British comedian and scribe Ben Elton to pen the script.
MAY 14: Pretender
Killed: NBC has officially cancelled 'the Pretender'. Of course ending the
show on a season ending cliffhanger. All is not lost though, as TNT
has expressed interest in acquiring first run rights. They are
interested in finishing the story arcs and having a satisfactory end
to the show. With ratings in the 6.0 range consistently it would be a
great show for TNT, FOX, the WB, or someone else. A decision has to
made as soon as next week due to the sets having to be removed at that
time. Wouldn't 'the Pretender' be a great addition to UPN's fall line
up?
MAY 14: Dying
of Re-runs:
Fans of the Sci-Fi Channel's 'First Wave' and 'Farscape' are a bit... irate,
pissed off, mad, and upset that both of these shows have just started
their second seasons and we are already getting two months worth of
reruns before the summer. The SFC is promising that the summer will be
rerun free. Likely they are also waiting for the Invisible Man to
premiere June 9 as part of Fridays 'SciFi Prime'. They never should
have taken First Wave from the Friday line-up.

novels by Wendy Pini has a budget of $15M. With a 2k2 release the

how much she gripes about doing another season she'll be there if FOX
says do it.
MAY 14: Mimic
2: A definite 'B' movie with a mere $10M budget. It will be

MAY 13:SNUBBED
at the Oscars!!!: Did anyone else notice at the Oscars at least
two snubs on their tribute to actors who have passed away? They left
out the most famous sci-fi doctor of all time 'DeForest Kelly', Doctor
Leonard McCoy. Also snubbed was supporting actor 'Brion James' who did
big movies, and television along with a mess of 'B' flicks. James
played in movies like 48 Hours, and
Striking distance. And did movies like Steel Dawn. Brion James was everywhere.
At least by this person he will be missed. Just can't believe
both these actors were left off the list.
MAY 13: Buck
Rogers: Someone out there might be wondering what 'Buck Rogers in the 25th
Century's' Gil Gerard might be up to. I was curious since I did enjoy
his cheesey show. Well, the ex-nuclear physicist turned actors will be
in the movie 'Stepdaughter' due out this year. Go Gil, go Gil... And I
reported last month that 'Wilma', Erin Gray, has a feature film in
production at this time too.
MAY 13: Occam's
Razor: This new thriller, likely to be a 'B' film, began
production on May 1st in the Bahamas and Bucharest.
MAY 12: Farscape
Webring #1:
With only 138 sites it is still the #1 webring on the internet beating
out the #2 webring, Spacebabes, by a 2 to 1 margin. In the last 8
weeks the F.W. has had 133617 hits. The webring has been in the number
one spot for since before the first of the year. This site has a small
area dedicated to Farscape and is number 18 of the top 25 sites. My
area to the show is small and needs some work done on it. My bad.

In this past Wednesday episode (I Zimmerman) the Doctor, Robert
Picardo, not only plays two roles, but also co-wrote the script as
well.

MAY 12: H.
R. Pufnstuff: Whatcha do when things get rough? Buy the new DVD of the 1970's H.R.
Pufnstuff from Sid and Croft (even made an appearance on CHIPs). It
will magically appear on DVD come May 23 from Rhino Home Video. It
will have the first four episodes for a SRP of $19.95. Gotta love that
Witchipoo!

Voyagers fate in an interview for the official Star Trek website. He
revealed... spoiler here... that the series will return home or
be forever lost in the Delta Quadrant. Whew. That sure cleared it up
for me. Yet... he did talk about storylines should Voyager get home. I
don't like the way paramount treats the fan based websites dedicated
to their shows. So, if you want to get to their site use a search
engine. No link here.

dollars. (aint it cool). In an attempt to make TMC look the bad guy
ABC offered them a 24 day extension. Says an ABC spokesman, "So,
if we go off the air it will be their choice." What a crock! The
24 extension was done to make TMC appear the bad guy in this deal.
Either way these guys need each other. Get out the rabbit ears ya'll.

idea.

Mile @ $234M and Stuart Little with $191M. (variety)
