FEB 27: Costly Ford: The New York Post is reporting that Harrison Ford's paycheck for K-19: the Widowmaker will be in the $25M range for a mere 20 days worth of work. Just over $1M per day isn't bad money. I might be interested in a job like that. Wonder if anyone is hiring...

FEB 27: Walking With Zombies: Dimension Films will distribute the film, 'I Walked With a Zombie' from director Avi Nesher. It is rumored that Dimension will package the film as a Tales From the Crypt film. Zombies, once titled as 'Ritual' stars Jennifer Gray, Tim Curry and Craig Sheffer.

FEB 27: Eon Closes Site: Eon Magazine Online is now merging with scifi.com as one online news website. Eon has not been updated since January 31. But I don't think to many were visiting the site that much anymore. Lots of their affiliate sites were dead links.

Sure those 150 yearly salaries will turn the company profit around. Yeah... right.

(hollywood reporter)

FEB 25: $10 Please: That's right folks, movie prices are going up again. New York is the first to screw the populace raising the prices to $10 per person beginning March 2 in Manhattan. Financially troubled Loews will be the first mega-theaters to raise price between $8 to $10. Cold day in HELL before I pay $10 for a movie I can buy in six months for $20. With the crap dumped on us today, $10 is a lot of money my friend. Time for us to take a stand, and stay away from theatres until prices drop. Wow!!!

FEB 25: Hatch's Galactica: With the news of a fresh Battlestar Galactica Series coming some of you might wish to see some images from Richard Hatches attempt to get permission for his feature/series idea. The futuristic story follows a reformed criminal who is forced by a weapons-design company to come out of retirement and compete in their Deadliest Man Alive gun-fighting contest.  (sfx online)

FEB 25: UPN Turns Un-cool: I have been a huge UPN fan since the channel premiered airing 'No Where Man' and 'Star Trek Voyager'. I am getting so tired though of UPN constantly giving us new genre series, and yanking their chain before they get to find an audience. They have killed 'the Strip' after 6 episodes, Secret Agent Man after 8 weeks, Level 9 after 6 weeks, and Freedom after a mere 3 episodes, along with Mercy Point also after just three episodes. Some of these we will never know of their potential because UPN pulled the plug so quick. Even quality shows such as No Where Man, and the Sentinel were cancelled despite decent ratings.

FEB 25: Elvis is Back: 3,000 Miles to Graceland started Friday at theatres everywhere. This looks to be a quality movie starring, Kevin Costner, Kurt Russel, Courtney Cox, and Christian Slater. A must see movie.

FEB 25: Harry Potter $$$: Warner Brothers is already making money on a feature that isn't due in theatres until late 2002. Warner has made Coca Cola Co. the sole promotional partner for their new film 'Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone' for a mere $40M to $50M.

FEB 25: Web Names: Celine Dion & Julie Brown have won back their name from a cybersquatter recently. Both of their names were purchased by Canadian Jeff Burgar, who admitted to officials that he has registered sites in 75 famous names. This loser has lost in court other famous name including one to Bruce Springsteen.

FEB 24: Driven: Renny Harlin's new feature 'Driven' has scored well with test audiences rating hirer with women than men. I believe the picture also stars Sylvester Stallone among others. Harlin is currently editing the picture. (variety)

FEB 24: Special Unit 2: The UPN mid-season replacement is expected to begin airing in the next four to six weeks. Six episodes of Special Unit 2 have been filmed so far, around the L.A. area that is always used to be Chicago. The series stars Michail Landes as Detective Nick O'Malley and Alexondra Lee as his partner. Kate Benson costars. Creature effects are done by godzilla's Patrick Tatopoulos while blade runner's Syd Mead creates the space-age weapons.

FEB 24: ElfQuest: The forever in work animated feature 'Elfquest' based on the comic books of the same name. Canal Plus Entertainment has joined the project, but don't expect the new feature until late 2002 to early 2003. Elfquest creators Wendi and Richard Pini are extremely happy with the project so far. Wendi is helping write the script with Marv Wolfman.

FEB 24: New Trek: Trek.com is reporting that designer John Eaves, who designed many a starships, has apparently finished designing the new starship for Paramounts new Star Trek Series. Paramount has yet to announce if the ship will be the Enterprise. The series is still rumored to be set at the birth of the Federation, just prior to the original Trek series.

FEB 24: Tomb Raider: Paramount has signed the following advertisers for their new feature of Tomb Raider film. Pepsi, Taco Bell, Ericsson, and Land Rover have all partnered for the feature.

FEB 24: First Wave Moving: The Sci-Fi Channel for some reason can't leave anything alone, for fans to get use to. First Wave is moves March 24 to Saturdays at 9pm along with 'Secret Adventures of Jules Verne' at 10pm and 'Black Scorpion' at 11pm.  Lexx will replace Jules Verne on July 28 with new episodes as Verne wraps up its first season.
Sat: 9pm   - First Wave
Sat: 10pm - Jules Verne
Sat: 11pm - Black Scorpion

FEB 24: Friday Change: The Friday night line-up for the Sci-Fi Channel beginning March 23 is as follows... The Invisible Man comes to Friday's at 8pm, as Farscape opens season 3 at 9pm. The Season seven premiere of  'Outer Limits' airs in the 10pm time slot.
Fri: 8pm   - Invisible Man (season two)
Fri: 9pm   - Farscape  (season 3)
Fri: 10pm - Outer Limits  (season 7)

FEB 23: Battlestar Galactica: X-Men's Bryan Singer and producer Tom DeSanto are actually working on a new 'Battlestar Galactica' television series that mixing up some of the old characters with some new ones.  DeSanto told Smilin' Jack Ruby of Fandom.com that they would like to shoot a pilot as soon as possible, but likely until after the writers strike. He hasn't seen Richard Hatches version but expects him to be involved in the new series. He has no idea which station it would be on yet either. Only that he thinks the fans will love it. And hopes the hardcore fans will give them a chance and not come up with negative things before the pilot airs.  And YES the Galactica will be in the new television series.   I personally hope we get to see Starbuck and Apollo return to the new series along with Boomer. Both Singer and DeSanto are expecting to direct and write some of the episodes.

FEB 23: Mathew Blackheart: The new Sci-Fi Channel series is apparently dead at this time after a one of the financial partners backed out. 'Mathew Blackheart: Monster Smasher is dead'.

FEB 22: First Wave: The Future of the sci-fi series 'First Wave' is hanging in the balance based on the decision from the Sci-Fi Channel and Pearson Entertainment who distributes the series world wide. It comes down to points and ratings. Unfortunately we continue to see quality series like First Wave end while series like 'Black Scorpion' and 'VIP' continue to be renewed.

FEB 22: Voyager: Well, looks like Paramount and the Berman are screwing the fans of the show. There will not be a six episode arc getting Voyager home as there was with DS9. The series will continue near the final episode with the same basic crappy storylines we have had for years. Paramount has taken the wrong road with Voyager for most of the series. They continue to do so now. Trekweb.com has revealed the storylines for several of the final episodes. Nothing special and nothing getting them home.

FEB 22: The Allien Legacy: 20th Century Fox continues to sit on a great franchise with the Aliens, and Predators. It is time to dump Ripley and continue to base the franchise around the aliens or predators. What a waste.

FEB 22: Tick Delayed: Fox has delayed its premiere of the new series 'The Tick' to the summer or fall of this year. This will be  a short lived series based on the comic character of the same name.

FEB 22: Old Shows Do Well: In syndicated reruns 'the Pretender', 'Early Edition', and 'Profiler' are doing well. They continue to have ratings near or equal to news shows such as 'the Invisible Man', 'Sheena', Earth Final Conflict' and first repeats of 'Stargate SG-1' in syndication. Those three shows along with Now and Again, should never have been cancelled.

FEB 22: Trek Sets Built: DS9's Quark, Armin Shimerman' told convention goers in Ill. that the new Star Trek series has already built their sets on the Paramount lot. This only adds to the fire rumors that production on the new trek series could begin near the end of March, early April time frame. Viacom has confirmed officially that the new series will air in the fall.

FEB 22: Pentium 4: Stay away from the Pentium 4 processor folks. There are bugs in the processor and the cost of ram for it is OUTRAGEOUS!!! One of the bugs in the processor prevents you from running two monitors at the same time.  The AMD K7 Athlon processor is the best buy based on speed and overall cost. And hey... NO BUGS.

FEB 22: NBC Scales Back: NBC will be scale down its min-series and original TV Movies this year from around 50 projects to about 10. And next year it could drop to just four or five. NBC is now expected to eliminate its 20 yr old Sunday night movies franchise.

FEB 21: New THEMES: There are 68 new themes added to the site yesterday. Most were in wav format, and a few in mp3. I would recommend  listening the 'First Wave: Ending Credit' music. Outstanding! The Sci-Fi Channel constantly dubs over the music with ads. Over 235 themes so far on the site. Some of the new themes added include... The Cape, Cop Rock, New versions of Babylon 5, Salvage 1, Shaft, Sheriff Lobo, and others for your pleasure. CLICK HERE  to check them out.

FEB 21: X-Men 2 News: Bryan Singer has confirmed to Empire Online that that he is doing the sequel to his X-Men feature. He is already working on the new script. With the financing of his next project falling through Fox is hoping to begin production in early 2002 with a summer 2002 release. ( cinescape online ) Once again Singer will be under the gun to get the project done for the summer.

FEB 21: the Punisher: Marvel's Kevin Feige says the in development remake of the Punisher will be more true to the comic book, and he will have a skull on his chest. Fantastic Fours scribe Mike France might also get a shot at writing the Punisher script.  France is not officially signed to the project, yet.  The first Punisher film was direct to video starring Dolph Lungren. I thought is was a great action flick. If you haven't seen it yet, it is out on VHS and DVD.

FEB 21: Next Season: Have you seen all the shows in development for next season. Check out 'CHANNEL NEWS' for all the new series being talked about.

FEB 21: Another Elvis: Army of Darkness star Bruce Campbell will be playing an elderly Elvis Presley in the feature film, 'Bubba Ho-Tep'. Campbell will play the real Elvis living in an old folks home where no one believes he's the King. Earlier in his career he changed places with an imitator and he was the one found dead in the bathroom years ago. Now the elderly Elvis must rally his elderly residents and to battle an ancient force of evil.

FEB 21: Chimera: Dark Castle Entertainment has snagged the horror spec script 'Chimera' from writer Mark Hanlon. The story of a group of seas salvagers who come upon a derelict passenger ship missing since 1953. The take the ship and while being towed is also subject to a number of unusual and mysterious things happen on board. This project will be produced by Joel Silver and directed by Robert Zemekis

FEB 21: The Spider: In HBO's third creature feature 'The Spider' will star Dan Akroyd and Teresa Russell. Scott Ziehl will direct the project that will shoot in Los Angeles. It will based on the 'B' movie from the 1950's Samuel Z. Arkoff film. Also joining the cast will be Amelia Heinle and Roswell's Devon Gummersal.

FEB 21: OZ Returns: The intense HBO drama series 'OZ' will be returning for a fifth season.

FEB 21: Final Fantasy: Despite earlier comments about sequels to the as yet unreleased animated feature 'Final Fantasy' don't look for it to happen to soon. The company doing the film originally budgeted the project at $70M and the cost has also doubled and caused the company to scale back on future projects.

FEB 21: Madonna: She will be singing at the Grammy's. Man she looks horrible since she had the face lift or something. Whew. Get the woman a bag ... or two.

FEB 20Buffy: Looks like Jenny Calender, as Robia La Morte, will be returning to Buffy the Vampire Slayer next season as a villain.

FEB 20: Tomb Raider: Dark Horizons is reporting that fans of Tomb Raider might not want to expect a sequel anytime soon after the this years release of the first film. According to Angelina Jolie she misses her husband terribly. Says Jolie, "After this [the movie] I'm not doing anything away from home, the only thing is I won't be able to get pregnant and then do Lara Croft straight away again. So I have a lot to think about". She also dropped this great line about her fitness: "Playing Lara has made me so much more athletic. My body has changed - I am so much fitter now, I've been working out so hard that I have finally got a backside and breast".

FEB 20: Body Dollars: How much is your body worth? Jennifer Lopez with the killer hinny is denying rumors that she has insured her assets for $1B. During an interview she said laughing that the rumors were not true.

FEB 20: New Series: NBC-TV has announced a pilot movie based on an Anne Rice script. The project will star Timothy Hutton as Angels battle on Earth as good goes against evil.

FEB 20: Episode III: Is the production thinking at all in design terms about the third and last production in the saga. Lucasfilm Jedi Council, Doug Chiang commented, "We are always conscious of how the new designs will be integrated into the entire Star Wars universe. Because we are only working on one part of a six-part series, the designs need to evolve with the characters and the story in a convincing matter. There needs to be some logic in the designing process to make the series visually cohesive." (cinescape online)

FEB 20: New Labels: Some new VHS side labels (splines) have been added to the site today. Joining the over 200 labels already on the site are... Earth Final Conflict, Empty Nest, Wild Wild West, T.J. Hooker, the Waltons, Lost In Space, Third Watch, ThunderCats, the Pretender, Two Guys & a Girl, and PSI Factor. CLICK HERE for the Labels Main Page.

FEB 20: Xena: Raimi is taking Xena out with another musical episode. Lucy Lawless told the Ananova wire service that one of the show's final episodes would be a "crazy" musical. "It will be a kind of disco version of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream," she said. Lawless also says that there will be no feature films or television movies to continue Xena.  "There was always talk of a film but I was too exhausted," she adds. "Now that I have the time and energy, they're not into producing films."

FEB 20: X-Files: Chris Carter has said that the eighth season cliffhanger may lead straight into the second feature film rather than a ninth season.  May's two-hour season ending cliffhanger could lead into a ninth season or feature film. If the new Lone Gunmen series is successful it may lead to the X-Files being brought to an end. Duchovny is not interested in a new series, or returning for a ninth season. He is however interested in returning for a feature film. This may also lend to the decision on what will be done. What about Robert Patrick? Will he also be in a feature if it happens? (tv guide)

FEB 19: Invisible Man: The new series just completed airing its 21st episode this past Friday and will some for reason go into repeats for three weeks and one pre-empting before returning on Friday March 23 at 8pm with its part 1 first season finale 'Money For Nothing' pt1 & part two 'Money For Nothing' on March 30. Invisible Man will end its first season with 23 episodes.  It appears as if the Sci-Fi Channel is once again abandoning 'First Wave' during its third season.

FEB 19: K-19: The new Harrison Ford/Liam Neeson  submarine disaster film K-19: The Widowmaker is getting some serious heat from the former Soviet Submariners who survived the incident in real life. They are claiming the filmmakers erroneously portray the men's involvement in the 1961 nuclear sub disaster as a bunch of stupid, disrespectful, eternally drunk Soviet sailors who played cards as the alarms were sounding. K-19 starts filming this month on an authentic Soviet submarine on location in Russia, Iceland and Canada. This isn't the first time a history-based Hollywood sub movie has come under attack over its purported authenticity. Last year, Universal's U-571 was blasted by British officials who said the film--about the capture of a German U-boat containing a secret-code machine--wrongly credited U.S. sailors for the feat, when it was U.K. submariners who actually did the dirty work. The producers tried to appease the Brits by adding text at the end to the closing credits explaining the true story behind the film. Other than 'The Hunt For Red October', submarine films generally do not do that well at the box office to continue making them.

FEB 19: Writers Respect: We have the strike coming this summer, based on the writers wanting some changes and who can blame them. Did Ridley Scott write Alien? Nope, O'Bannon wrote it. Who gets credit for it... Scott does. Is it fair? Josh Hadley has some thoughts on the subject along with the MPAA latest of wanting to decided what you get to see at the theaters and on television. Do you need a babysitter? Shouldn't parents be monitoring what the babes watch? Read the latest opinions in the Fan Opinion Area. You got an opinion. This is the place... At 40 this month, I think I can decide what I want to watch. Can you?

FEB 19: Hannibal $$$: In just two weeks Ridley Scott's latest feature, 'Hannibal', has grossed over $100M. A pleasant surprise for Scott after his mega-hit 'Gladiator'.

FEB 19: Soprano's Ending: The show's creator, David Chase, has dropped some major hints that the Emmy-winning HBO mobster saga might get whacked after its fourth season next year. Chase said the mob show's fourth season in 2002 will probably be its last. The New Jersey-born don said he'd like to concentrate on feature films. Quentin Schaffer, an HBO spokesman, told the Times that network executives were not completely surprised to hear Chase's announcement. He said that Chase had originally intended to do The Sopranos as a movie before he saw how great it could be as a television series. Even if the fourth season is The Sopranos swan song don't fear for Tony's fate. Chase vows his antihero won't go the way of Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bompensiero, who met with an unfortunate end in a watery grave. "I don't think he should die," said Chase. (Sure, how could you do more movies or later continue the series without your star character.) Season 3 begins on HBO in March.

FEB 19: Jules Verne: The new series premiering on the Sci-Fi Channel (already having aired on satellite television) 'The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne' doesn't appear to be doing that well in the channels ratings. The series cost upwards of $1M per episode and is the only series done digitally and currently in filmed in letterbox format. Jules Verne is film in Montreal Canada in an enormous 100,000 square foot warehouse with five sound stages. All CGI effects are done in house as well. It is still unknown if the Sci-Fi Channel will renew the series for a second season.

FEB 19: Icebox is Empty: The animation website Icebox.com is closing. The company, which became notorious both for hiring major TV writing talent and also for producing edgy programming like the stereotypical Mr. Wong and Queer Duck, will ceased operations on Friday. CEO Steve Stanford said he is ''in the process of trying to sell the company as a whole,'' and is providing due diligence to prospective buyers. Icebox's demise is one of the final coffin nails in a space that has been decimated worse than any other since the Internet downturn began last April. Just in the last nine months, AntEye, Stan Lee Media, Pop, Dotcomix, DEN, Thirsty, Scour, Pseudo and iCast have gone under, and sites like Z, StreamSearch, Hollywood.com and the Hollywood Stock Exchange have struggled with layoffs and financing troubles.

FEB 19: Top Link Thanks: Want to to take a moment and thank  the Save Prey folks for the recent slew of visitors to the site over the last few weeks. I also wanted to thank neoxer.com for the number of visitors from her 'ER' fan site, and my recent link with scifimatrix.com as well.

FEB 19: Exit Wounds: Co-star with Steven Seagal, DMX has a unique way of getting publicity for his latest film. The actor/rapper has been ordered to spend 15 days in jail for a prior infringement. The hip-hopster's lawyer says his client will comply with the ruling as soon as he completes a prior commitment doing promotional work in Los Angeles for the movie Exit Wounds. (The film is due in theaters March 14.) DMX will be in jail and unavailable to appear at the Grammy's where he is nominated for 'Best Rap Album'. DMX was sentenced last May after pleading guilty to a minor traffic violation and pot possession. However, his attorneys called the judge's 15-day jail sentence and $400 fine overly "severe" and filed an appeal arguing that the court unfairly punished him because he was a celebrity.

FEB 19: Justice League: Warner Bros will be making 26 episodes of a Justice League animated series for the Cartoon Network. Bruce Timm will be overseeing it as he has done with the animated Batman and Superman series. The series will feature Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Hawkgirl and Martian Manhunter. Kevin Conroy will continue to vocie Batman, but another actor will voice Superman, since Tim Daly is busy with The Fugitive. (sftv news)

FEB 19: Level 9: UPN pulled the cancelled series for the first three weeks of February. Level 9 was due to return to the airwaves February 23, but looks to have been pulled until further notice. Expect the series in the summer along with Freedom as the station should run through the entire 13 episode run of each before pulling them permanently. Expect them on the Sci-Fi Channel at some point in 2k2. With only 13 episodes of each, it is the only place likely for their return.

FEB 19: Black Hawk Down: Ridley Scott's latest project is scheduled to begin filming Feb. 23. Simon West is executive producing the film with Jerry Bruckenheimer producing. Mark Bowden & Ken Nolan scripted the film.

FEB 19: The One: The successful team of Glen Morgan and James Wong (Millennium & final destination) are currently lensing a new action film starring Jet Li titles 'The One'. Production began January 29. Morgan & Wong are producing while James Wong steps behind the camera. Wong & Morgan are also the creators of the television series 'Space Above & Beyond'.

FEB 19: New Films: From January to April are a slew of new films going into production. Some will be mega-hits while others no more than direct to video material.  Julia Roberts is doing a thriller titled 'Project 3' which begins filming April 1, Mathew McConaughey & Christian Bale are starring the Sci-Fi film 'Reign of Fire' which starts lensing this month. Stephen Baldwin & Tom Skerritt are starring in the action/thriller 'Greenmail'. In January singer Bon Jovi began filming the thriller 'Vampires: Los Muertos'. FEB 3: Angel Without Buffy?: TV Guide online was asked David Boreanaz, if Angel could survive without Buffy on the WB? He response was that he thought the show would be fine even if Buffy jumped to FOX. Over the negotiations over Buffy though Boreanaz said, "As far as the Buffy talks are concerned, that's not my job. That's like pissing in the wind, man. It's not for me to talk about."    Is this ironic that when 'Angel' began to air there was a discussion whether this would lead to 'Buffy' moving over to Fox when their contract ran out. Now Whedon has signed on with Fox. The writing is in the wind folks.

FEB 3: Save Freakylinks?: You have got to be kidding me, right? This show was horrible. BUT, if your a fan of the show and want to do your part to save the show then check out this web address. CLICK HERE at your own risk.

FEB 3: Bad Bras: New style underwire bras are sending washing-machine repair workers crazy. Bra wires have become the biggest cause of blockages or damage to washing machines in Britain, electrical repairs group Curry's Coverplan said. "With underwire bras now accounting for over half the bra sales in Britain, it's a growing hazard for washing machines, "said Sue Loder, of bra experts Triumph International.  Amazing story.
