JAN 31: Xerox Cuts: Now copier giant 'Xerox' is having financial trouble, and plans to cut some 4000 jobs in the first quarter - about 4% of their workforce. Xerox shares have fell 51% in the last three months.

JAN 31: Shatner USA: Star Trek alumn William Shatner will take his beauty pageant duties from the big screen to the small screen as he hosts the Miss USA Beauty Pageant in March. Look for the 69 year old actor March 2, on CBS.

JAN 31: No Galactica?: Sci-Fi.com is reporting that their Sci-Fi Wire jumped the gun in reporting that the Sci-Fi Channel was developing a new series based on Battlestar Galactica from Universal Studios.   A spokesman for the channel would not confirm rumors that such a series was in development.   But! He obviously did NOT deny the rumor either. Just covering their asses ya'll. Maybe we'll get Galactica and Babylon 5 telemovies. That would be awesome.

JAN 31Rush Hour 3: Rush Hour 2 is currently filming in Las Vegas at the 'Desert Inn', and already there is talk of a 'Rush Hour 3'. Rush Hour 2 producer Arthur Sarkissian is already talking about a third film possibly filming in Africa. The current film was budgeted at $80M

JAN 31: Amazon Cut Jobs: Amazon.com began layoffs immediately without notice yesterday. It will cut 1300 worker amounting to about 15% of its employees in an effort to start making some profit.

JAN 31: Ocean's 11: Principle photography begins filming in February in Las Vegas. Most of the filming will be done at the 'Ballagio' hotel & casino which is now owned by MGM properties. They also own New York New York, Treasure Island, and the Mirage.

JAN 31: Adobe Trouble: Software developer Adobe Systems Inc. issued a warning Tuesday its revenues could be hurt in this quarter due to economic weakness.    Hey, stop selling Adobe products for outrageous prices and you would sell a hell of a lot more copies of your software, idiots.

JAN 31: Babylon 5: Boxleitner told Eon Magazine that syndication is almost dead, and the audience for a new Babylon 5 series isn't there anymore. If the Sci-Fi Channel could pull it off, he believes they should continue with the Tele-movies rather than a new series. It is something that would be easier to sell.          Sure would be easier to get to video if nothing else, huh? I would prefer the TV Movies over a new series. This is something that would work for Star Trek, new Beauty and the Beast stuff, and even the X-Files rather than new series.

JAN 31: Scooby Casting: The Raja Gosnell helmed project  will star Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar as Fred and Daphne, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy and Linda Cardellini as Velma. It is scheduled to start shooting on February 13th in Australia. Rowan Atkinson ( BEAN ) is in negotiations to star as the lead villain in the film.

JAN 30: E2 on UPN?: Did you know that a promo reel was done after Earth 2 cancellation on NBC for UPN? It's true. The series was retooled, and the cast was to get to Pacifica. All the promos, about 15mb, have been uploaded to the internet at 'The Journey Continues Network'. The website even contains blooper clips from the series. This is a site you have got to check out if you were a fan of the series. Would have been a great UPN series...

JAN 30: Logan's Run: The re-make of William F. Nolan's novel will be getting a budget in the $100M range. Nolan is excited that the film will be closer to the novel than the original film, and that 'Box' will be much more realistic than the terrible job done in the original. Logan's Run will be directed by Skip Woods. Time to get this project rolling.

JAN 30: New B5?: JMS is indeed talking new projects with the Sci-Fi Channel. One possibility is a new series based in the Babylon Universe. There may be a resolution to the talks by the end of February.

JAN 30: No Lord Blade: Traci Elizabeth Lords (First Wave) told Sci-Fi Wire that she will not be appearing in the Blade 2: Bloodhunt as previously reported. She says scheduling just was right among other things.

JAN 30: Matrix Superbowl: The Matrix style instant replays used during the NFL's Superbowl were incredible. While likely to expand in that capacity, the system is likely to be incorporated during live play in the near future. Image shots facing the quarter back with the rush on, then panning around behind the quarterback as he throws the ball down the field. This technique could really change the way we are watching football today.

JAN 30: 26,000 Axes: This isn't a movie, but the total amount of jobs that Chrysler will cut over the next three years due to sagging sales. Image that when your over charging for your cars. Don't cut car prices, cut jobs and raise prices. Very smart. What a stupid country we can be... (that's 20% of their work force)

JAN 30: Disney Axes Go.com: Disney has become the latest company to close it's internet portal Go.com. They will kill 400 jobs with the closing of the site that has failed to turn a profit. Go.com is a perfect example of a miss handled internet business.

JAN 29: Exit Wounds: The Silver Productions feature that may re-ignite Segal's career will begin airing the trailer for the film during the Superbowl today. Exit Wound will star Steven Segal and DMX. For this role Segal has lost over 40lbs and shed the pony tail he has worn through most of his films. Producer Joel Silver has ignited the careers of 'Keannu Reeves' and 'Jet Li'. Hopefully he can do the same for Segal. This film so far, hasn't gotten the hype of Silver's previous films. The Superbowl preview was great!

JAN 29: D'Angelo Twins: Beverly D'Angelo '46' (vacation films) has given birth to twins belonging to long time boyfriend actor Al Pacino '60' (Any Given Sunday). The two healthy babies weighed just over 10lbs total.

JAN 29: Video Game Kills: Brian Pesti sent along an email that a video game has finally taken a life. "Mr. Peter Bukowski was the first person to die playing a video game, when he died of a heart attack playing Berzerk at the "Friar Tuck Game Room" in Calumet City, Illinois. " Oh man, now we'll be getting video games with a weak of heart warning on them like a pack of cigarettes.

JAN 29: Indy over Bond: In a recent poll taken by a British Magazine, Indiana Jones left James Bond shaken and stirred as the all time favorite top movie hero. Bond came in second. Harrison Ford managed to come in at number 6 in the poll, as Han Solo from the Star Wars trilogy. Also rating in the poll was Bruce Willis for Die Hard, and Russell Crowe for Gladiator.

JAN 29: Ripley top Ten: In the same British Magazine Poll, Sigourney Weaver was the only female to make the top ten. Weaver came in for her four time role as 'Ellen Ripley' in the Aliens Quadigy. Weaver worked for directors Ridley Scott and James Cameron on two of the four films. Not to many actors get to do that in their career. Go Ripley!!!

JAN 29: Go AMD!: Advanced Micro Devices will turn up the competitive heat on Intel in March, when major computer makers release notebooks containing a mobile version of AMD's Athlon processor. Jumping onboard are HP and Compaq.  The chip launch will be at multiple speeds which will at least include a 900mhz chip.

JAN 29: Internet Superbowl: Last year there were 22 Dot-Coms advertising in the NFL's Superbowl. This year there will only be four. Monster.com being the most famous of them. Hey, it's the site I used to get my new job. Looks like now, internet companies actually have to learn how do business rather than just pretend as they did early in the internet push.

JAN 29: Worldcom Cuts: The second largest long distance provider is planning to cut 11,000 jobs in an effort to refocus the company. What a Bitch!!! Remember folks, all these job cuts started under ex-president Bill Clinton and NOT George W. Bush. Lets make sure we don't blame the wrong man later on. Black and Decker will also cut 400 jobs, Applenet will kill 150 jobs, Attachment will lay-off about 100 employees, and Penney's will close 44 un-profitable stores, which will leave 5,565 employees looking for work.

JAN 28: VHS Cover:  Just added to the site for your Roger Corman fans is a new VHS Cover Sheet and a VHS Side Label for the new series... 'Black Scorpion'. Label matches the cover sheet. Enjoy... Looks like there will be at least 66 episodes of this less than decent series.

JAN 28Genre Gaming Las Vegas:  Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror are taking a big leap in the gaming industry of Las Vegas. IGT (International Game Technology) especially has gotten into it with new machines, a slew of them. IGT either has or is trying to get through gaming the following types... Little Green Men, The Mummy, Addams Family, the Munsters, Bewitched, Pink Panther, Jekyl & Hyde, Austin Powers, and hopefully coming, the Terminator. Though the prototype was done South Park was done also. It has become big stakes in the Las Vegas Gaming industry.

JAN 28: You Go Dice Man: The Dice Man, Andrew Dice Clay will be joining a new Time-Travel series titled 'Colosseum'. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Pearson Television production has signed Outer Limits writer-producer Sam Egan to run the show, and Stargate SG-1's Mario Azzopardi to direct. It was scheduled for exhibition in January 2001 at the National Association of Television Programming Executives in Las Vegas. I don't have any status on this or whether or not the series was promoted or shown at the NATP. Time will tell. This was reported by sciencefiction.com back in November 2000.

JAN 28: More Borg: As Voyager nears the end of its run we will likely be getting more visits from the Borg, Barkley, and even the return of LeVar Burton. Oh... and Q too. (god I dislike this character). Burton will be doing the directing rather than playing Geordi LaForge from his Next Generation days. Do whatever you want guys, but get these people home will ya.

JAN 28: Time Machine: John Logan's script for the remake is 102 pages, and very different from the original. The project will be doing some filming at Vassar college in New York for two days. Feb. 4 thru Feb. 6. Three of the principal actors will be on hand for filming these scenes: time-traveling Columbia professor Guy Pearce, Jeremy Irons, as the stern Dean of Columbia, and now Mark Addy (The Full Monty, The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas) as the time traveler's best friend, Dr. Philby.

JAN 28: IMAX is FUBAR: IMAX Corp., being worried about an image they don't have, is worried that the 3D animated feature 'Haunted Castle' is too graphically violent. They are strongly urging theater exhibitors not to show it without warning... if at all. IMAX is worried it could tarnish their image. Ha ha aha ahahahah... What a riot. IMAX has 110 theatres in the United States and another 111 abroad. IMAX only owns 20 theatres themselves. Those 20 are not showing the film.

JAN 28: Shang Chi: According to Ain't It Cool News, Marvel has also slated their 'Shang Chi' for the big screen. Being considered for the helm is David Norrington. It would be his third Marvel project. Norrington already 'Blade' under his belt and has 'Ghost Rider' in pre-production. Shang-Chi is the son of the internationally powerful criminal mastermind named Fu Manchu. Trained as a master of the mental and martial arts, Shang-Chi eventually learned his father's true nature and declared himself his enemy.

JAN 28: Foster is Back: Movie adaptation king and Sci-Fi writer 'Alan Dean Foster' is back. The Star Wars author has been contracted to write a novel bridging episodes 1 and 2. It's been a quarter of a century since Foster did the novelization for Episode 4. He thinks it will be fun doing the Star Wars thing again.

JAN 28: Beastmaster & Farscape:   Farscape stars 'Claudia Black' and 'Anthony Simcoe' will appear the Feb. 5weekend on 'the Beastmaster' syndicated series. The episode is titled 'Wild Child'.

JAN 28: Shatner Out: Priceline.com has dropped the ex-Star Trek Captain to move into a new advertising direction. I doubt the old Captain has much care either way after making over $125M the first year the company opened.

JAN 28: Just Visiting: I received an email from Jon Evans, of Disney's Western Media Relations Manager asking me to post links to previews for their new Sci-Fi feature 'JUST VISITING'. Here they are. Real Media Format 56K, 100K.  Window Media format 56K, 100K. If they don't work it is not in my control. These are the links they sent me.

JAN 27: Akira: Pioneer Entertainment  has spent $1M to restore and improve the film, and will re-release the film in U.S. Theatres in the spring. Afterwards the film will be released on DVD and VHS during the 2001 fourth quarter. (variety)

JAN 27Panic on Panic:   Nicole Kidman's knee injury she received during the filming of Moulin Rouge may force her to drop out of David Fincher's 'The Panic Room'. Her doctors have advised her too. Panic Room has been in production since January 8 and could really hurt the project forcing them to locate some star power elsewhere. The knee injury could effect Kidman's other projects also in the works trying to be completed before the strike. (cinescape online)

JAN 27: No Who: The BBC is debunking previous reports that they were considering a new Dr. Who feature film.

JAN 27: Matrix Update:   Now it appears that ex 'Freedom' series star 'Francoise Yip' may be up for the martial arts role recently vacated by Michelle Yeoh. (coming attractions)

JAN 27: So Long Rock:   With its future still unknown and looking dim, Carsey-Warner has filmed the series finale with the aliens leaving the planet the same way they came to earth... in a convertible. NBC is mum about the series at this time. An indicator might be star John Lithgow's signing of a one year contract to do the Broadway musical ' Sweet Smell of Success '.  (test pattern)

JAN 27: AMC Shutdown: AMC Entertainment has announced it will shutting down as many as 548 screens or 80 or its 186 theatres. (43% of its theatres) Also shutting down 25% of its theatres will be Loews Cineplex Entertainment. That's 675 screens.

JAN 27: X-Men: 20th Century Fox has sold television broadcast rights to Fox, FX network and Fox Family Channel for the 'X-Men', 'Big Momma's House', and 'Me Myself and Irene'. How much did these three box office money makers cost... oh, about $80M total. Not bad when these films have been worn out on video sales, rentals, and pay per view.

JAN 27: Arach Attach: The new feature film 'Arach Attack' has began filming in Superior Arizona.

JAN 27: Batman Beyond Done: Garth at Dark Horizons is reporting that a source at the WB told him that 'Batman Beyond' the animated TV Series will likely not be picked up for next season. It will likely air in reruns next year on KidsWB and then move over to the Cartoon Network. If the ratings are good enough the Cartoon Network could greenlight new episodes.

JAN 26: Ghost Rider: Marvel Entertainment's Kevin Feige told Comics2Film that David Goyer and Stephen Norrington are close to finishing up the script for 'Ghostrider' and should be done by the end of this month.

JAN 26: Kronenberg: The FX Network and John Landis are moving forward on a paranormal half-hour comedy titled... 'The Kronenberg Chronicles'. The program will tell the ongoing adventures of a bumbling scientist who investigates paranormal phenomenon and related mysteries. (variety)

JAN 26: Mutant X: Comics2Film has obtained information which sheds light on the upcoming syndicated Mutant X TV show from Marvel. According to a casting breakdown (given to agencies by casting directors when casting is underway), the show is slated to begin filming in Toronto on June 4 of this year. 22 one hour episodes will be filmed. Jay Firestone, AdamHaight, Avi Arad & Rick Unger are Executive Producers. Jamie Paul Rock is the producer.

JAN 26: Genre Renewals:   Getting renewed in the last couple of days was... Andromeda in 90% of the market. the Beastmaster in 70% and Earth: Final Conflict in 71% of the markets.

JAN 26: JLA Animated:   Cartoon Network will enlist the world's greatest superheroes, bringing them together once more in an all-new half-hour animated series, Justice League, it was announced by Betty Cohen, president, Cartoon Network Worldwide. The new series is being produced by Warner Bros. Animation under the direction of Emmy Award-winner Bruce Timm. (comics2film)

JAN 26: Ultraman: The New Ultraman Tiga TV series in Japan has been extremely successful and appears headed to the U.S. for the 2001-02 program line-up, which includes the live action 52 episodes.

JAN 24: Futuresport: Remember the disappointing TV Movie 'Futuresport' starring Dean Cain and Vanessa Williams? Well, the low rated movie and DVD is turning into a new television series from Wesley Snipes production studio 'Amen-ra'. Producer Bruce Zabel (dark skies), reported, "Wesley has agreed to guest star not only in the pilot, but also in three of the first thirteen episodes. He will actually be a major player, not only in an ownership position, but also in helping make the series as good as it can be." (sfx network) There is no word as to whether the new series will be syndicated or not.

JAN 24: Vancouver Mania: Vancouver is not only a hot commodity for Television series like 'Stargate SG-1' & 'Seven Days' they are also getting movie productions in their back yard left and right. In the first half of 1999, 113 productions committed to filming in the province north of Washington state. The average production spends more than $7 million (Canadian) and creates 113 jobs. Ian Waddell, small business, tourism and culture minister for the province, said there are 32 feature films; 34 television movies, pilots and specials; 17 television series and 25 documentaries and broadcast singles in the works for British Columbia this year. A $20M feature film can be made in Canada for $14.8M. California is worried and taking steps to get the productions back. Might want to get electricity back first eh?... (Las Vegas Sun)

JAN 24: Babylon 5 Movie: Sci-Fi Channel Manager Bonnie Hammer told the Pittsburgh Gazette that they are looking into doing a Babylon 5 exclusive TV Movie. That is something they are focusing on the most.  SFC is extremely happy with the ratings for B5. Says Hammer... "We love that creative team. Take a look at how Babylon 5 is doing on Sci Fi in its gazillionth repeats -- it's doing amazingly well."

JAN 24: Crusade Return:   Babylon 5's spin-off series 'Crusade' didn't fair well on TNT, as if it had a chance there, but might be getting repeat status on the Sci-Fi Channel as they are considering purchasing the rerun rights to the show.

JAN 24: Buffy, "WB or Bust":   Sarah Michelle Gellar wants her show on the WB. She told E-online that she will stay with Buffy if... and only if Buffy remains on the WB TV Network. Says Gellar... "The WB has been so supportive, such a great network over the past four years. It feels like home. I don't want the show to move, because I feel that we belong on the WB. It's where our fans are. If Buffy leaves the WB, I'm out."

JAN 24: AOL Layoffs: With the merger comes layoffs of course. 400 people are getting the axe thanks to the mega-merger with AOL & Time Warner. Fuckers!!! AOL Sucks, as always!!! Dump them as your ISP.

JAN 24: DVD News:   Enemy Mine, Deepstar Six and Alien Nation are finally coming to DVD in or around the March time frame along with Val Kilmer's 'Red Planet' which also stars Carrie Ann Moss. Red Planet will be approx... $19.99. Less at Costco and Sam's Club. (digitalbits.com)

JAN 23: Lost World: New Horizon is reporting that Columbo's Peter Falk has signed a deal with the BBC on to Rev. Theo  in a big budget feature of... 'The Lost World' by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. He deal is worth about $2M.

JAN 23: Dr. Who: David Thompson, head of BBC Films, has confirmed that something is up with the franchise. The paper quotes Thompson as saying, "We are talking to a famous American director and hope to announce his name in the next few months. A British actor will definitely play the Doctor but we have not decided who yet." (cinescape online)

JAN 23: Time Machine: The remake  will be shot in and around New York during a 76 day shooting schedule. Filming begins shooting Feb. 5, ending May 21, and finishes up in L.A. 'The Time Machine' is budgeted for about $85M and has a December 21 scheduled release date. One quarter of the budget will be used towards special effects.

JAN 23: Wonder Woman: The Joel Silvers production of Marvel's 'Wonder Woman' appears to still be mired in development hell with little information coming out about the script or actress to star. Since Xena is ending, wouldn't 'Lucy Lawless' be wonderful in the role? I think the Warrior Princess would fit the bill nicely as well as fill out the costume. Todd Alcott (antz) has been hired to write the screenplay. Hopefully it will be dark and use WW like Ripley in Aliens. Yunno, kickass.

JAN 23: Young Superman: 15 year old newcomer Tom Welling will star as the young Clark Kent/Superman in the new WB series 'Smallville'. Based on the DC Comic the series has been perked for a 13 episode commitment.

JAN 23: Star Wars Reshoot: George Lucas is planning three re-shoots, at least, for the upcoming Episode III.  (star wars website)

JAN 23: Trek V Series: Another part of the delay in the series, besides UPN's unknown long term status, is over the initial number of episodes requested. Paramount wants its Trek Series to run its seven seasons. SFX is also reporting that ABC and not UPN or CBS wants the series, but only for an order of 13 episodes. I don't know what the big deal is with this. If it doesn't make it seven seasons on ABC (not likely) Paramount could move the series to another network or take the production into syndication where the Next Generation and Deepspace Nine flourished for their 14 total years on the air. Voyager would likely have done better in syndication rather than on UPN.

JAN 23: Reeves Ready: The injury to Keannu Reeves has turned out to be totally false. Reeves is continuing to work out getting ready for the filming of both films.

JAN 23: More Vamps: The Anne Rice novel 'Queen of the Damned'  feature film is moving along toward production. The production is using a relatively unknown cast in the film, other than FARSCAPE's Claudia Black. 'Queen of the Damned' is the third novel in the series of books 'The Vampire Chronicles'. Man are we beating this with a dead horse or what?

JAN 23: Go Godzilla: Despite horrible money on two recent films, some stupid director has stepped up to direct a sequel. Who could that possibly be you ask... It's Shusuke Kaneko, who worked on the Gamera series and revitalized the genre overseas. No, Devlin & Emmerich will NOT be doing this one.

JAN 23: Freakylinks Axed Again: The return of 'Freakylinks' changed very little upon its return to the Fox line-up. It isn't surprising with all the background chaos that went on. Freaky was doomed from the moment it changed its name. Look for it on FX or the Sci-Fi Channel in... reruns.

JAN 23: Voyager: Wednesday broadcast of Scattered was horrible. How many times can a Federation vessel hit a time anomaly? What are the odds, a hundred million to one. Star Trek does it like at least twice per season I think. Talk about beating a storyline over the fans heads. Hey guys, we get it ok. It was like the Dallas dream sequence that killed the series. We watch for a whole hour (40 minutes of the show) only to have it never happen as the timeline is repaired.  These guys could have great stories back in the alpha quadrant and we are still lost... in a time warp. Crap!!!

JAN 23: Trek 10: Jonathan Frakes is talking about the new Star Trek 10 feature. He told several columnists (Marilyn Beck, Stacy Jenel Smith and Stephanie DuBois) That "we've allegedly got a script on the way that everyone's thrilled with." He also revealed, "We're delivering final effects shots while we're filming, which is unheard of -- instead of during post-production."

JAN 22: Now & Again: The Sci-Fi Channel will be airing reruns of the CBS series 'Now and Again' this year. HOWEVER, the 22 episodes will be cut by 2 to 4 minutes getting them down to the syndicated '40' minute standard for maximum commercial messages. But, it's better than nothing. Now & Again supported decent 6.2 ratings and got cancelled. Same ratings 'Dark Angel' is looking at now. Likely to be airing this summer.

JAN 22Playstation 3: Sony is beginning work on their next console unit... Playstation 3. Sony is planning the next console to be 1000 times faster than the PS2. They already have plans for the next units graphics chips, and Sony's plans for the PS3 include online shopping functions, online banking, and other interactive Internet services. Naturally, some of these functions could be introduced to the mass market with the PlayStation 2, but Sony's digital convergence plans for the PS3 seem to be on a larger scale. (techtv.com)

JAN 22: Pretender 2001: This TV Movie airs tonight on TNT. Don't mess it. Airs at 8pm and 10pm est.

JAN 22: First Wave: The Sci-Fi Channel original series 'First Wave' and 'The Invisible Man' air new episodes tonight... First Wave airs new episodes of season 3 while Invisible airs a new first season episode. :::NOTE::: The Sci-Fi Channel for some unknown reason will be airing at least next six episodes out of order.. Next up should be 47, but we will get the following episodes in this order... 49, 50, 48, 51, 47, & 53.

JAN 22: New Atari Games?: Do you still miss or have the old Atari 7800 or 2600 and want some NEW games for the system that was long abandoned? Well, look no further my friends... Bill Houlehan of O'Shea Limited, has thousands of boxes of Atari 2600 and 7800 game cartridges he keeps in his limestone cavern warehouse in Kansas City, Missouri. In fact, these are the same games Atari had in its warehouse when the company shut down operations in 1991. Initially, Houlehan purchased 2.3 million cartridges with the plan to market them to retailers in Holland and other Scandinavian and European countries. In ten years he has only managed to trim the stock down to 1.1 million. The inventory of 32 different games includes such classics as Asteroids, Pole Position, Space Invaders, and Ms. Pac-Man. The games are stored in a subterranean limestone lair. Boxes stack almost to the 17-foot ceiling of the 22,000-square-foot mine turned warehouse. He sells them for $2 each. Check out his site for more details.

JAN 21: Lost World: Despite what most would consider a horrible season 2, Sir Author Conan Doyle's 'The Lost World' has been green lighted for a third season in syndication.

JAN 21: Roswell 3: There has been no word yet on a third season of the WB series. However, some of the cast believe it will get another season.

JAN 21: CSI: In the genre ratings war going on NBC's new series CSI takes the cake this season in the number one rating. It was 17 in the network ratings. Dark Angel was number 4 in the genre series ratings and pulled in at 55 ( mid 6 ratings) in the network ratings.

JAN 21: Freddy vs Jason: This project has been talked about for years now and seems to be stuck in development hell, but Robert England (Freddy Kruegger) told Horror online that the project is a definite green light. But it won't happen until after the strike and the feature release of Jason X  in August.

JAN 21: Mummy Returns: Interested in seeing what this film will look like? Then you might want to watch or record the Superbowl a week from Sunday. Universal will premiere the 'Mummy Returns' trailer at that time. Universal may also air the trailer for 'Jurassic Park 3' during that time frame. The airings include ABC & ESPN.

JAN 21: Blair 3: I hate to even talk about this horrible set of pictures but it appears as if Artisan will shoot their planned 'Prequel' feature. The third installment will appears to be headed to theatres in 2002. Artisan is planning to take their time with this one. What a bunch of idiots. Talk about throwing away money.

JAN 21: Dragoncon: Erin Gray (buck rogers), Anthoney Daniels (star wars), Harlan Ellison (author), Herb Jefferson Jr. (galactica), Dirk Benedict (galactica), and Claudia Christian (babylon 5) are among the list of guest scheduled this year for the convention in Atlanta. Tickets for the event are around $45.

JAN 20: Spawn 2: Todd McFarlane got his wish as Columbia Pictures not only snagged the rights to 'Spawn 2', they have also fast-tracked the project. The Hollywood Reporter has released that the studio purchased the rights for producer Don Murphy and his AngryFilms Productions. McFarlane is working on a horror script for the film.

JAN 20: The One: Jet Li will star in Revolution Studios 'The One' with Delroy Lindo and Jason Statham. Production is set to begin Jan. 29 in Los Angeles. James Wong is directing. The film will tell the story of a man (Jet Li) who encounters a murderous other-dimensional version of himself crossing planes of reality to kill all his own copies. This is another hit from 'Space Above and Beyond's Morgan & Wong.

JAN 20: McFarlane News: While working on his sequel script for 'Spawn 2' he is also working on some designs for Jodie Fosters new production company logo. Very Cool.  McFarlane also owns a homerun baseball from Mark McGwire worth about $4.5M and also owns part of the Edmonton Oilers. And he says he enjoyed the experience but would never do another comic book series for Marvel or DC.

JAN 20: Pretender 2001: Don't forget that the new Pretender TV Movie which continues the series premieres January 22 on TNT @ 8pm est. Tidbits you ask... Jarod and Ms. Parker may kiss, but not likely until the next movie a few months from now. Many storylines will be resolved in this one however. A must watch for Pretender fans around the globe...

JAN 20: Battlestar Galactica: The Sci-Fi Channel continues with the rumor that they are trying to bring back 'Battlestar Galactica'. The original cast and crew, with some new ones to boot. And... a new starship and not a Battlestar. Apparently Richard Hatch and Glenn Larson are not going to be involved. Time will tell. Head on over to the Sci-Fi Channel and vote whether 'Battlestar Galactica' could make it today. (aintitcool.com)

JAN 20: Level 9: UPN has indicated that they will NOT order anymore episodes of 'Level 9', but will continue to air the rest of the episodes they have. This one is cancelled...

JAN 20: Coffin: Another comic book is making its way to the big screen. This one from Mike Huddleston and Phil Hester titled 'The Coffin'. Lightstorm is in talks with Blade 2's Guillermo Del Toro to helm the project which will be produced by James Cameron, John Landau and Rae Sanchi. Cameron would like the project to begin production when Del Toro finishes up the Blade sequel. 'The Coffin' It tells the story of a scientist who invents a polymer suit that is able to hold on to the human soul after death. Eventually, just prior to his own death, he dons the outfit, keeping in a semi-living state even as he attempts to reconcile things with his estranged daughter. (cinescape online)

JAN 20: Ryan Stalker: The man, 22 year old Marlon Pahtakhan, who was arrested for stalking Voyager's Jeri Ryan was sentenced to stand trial. He will be arraigned on January 31. He is being held in Jail in lieu of $405,000.

JAN 19: Basic Instinct 2: This one seems to be a dead project at this time as Kurt Russell has turned down the lead role. Which means now MGM must now work to release Sharon Stone from the contract until the do need here, if ever.

That was at a time when there was a triopoly of three networks. JAN 15: Battlefield DVD: The box-office flop of the year drops in on DVD January 16. Might be a renter but definitely not a buy me DVD. Give it a watch and judge for yourself. Yunno, some movies get better the more you watch it. After about 100 times you might find something to like about this one. I plan to give it at least one watch... or two.

Donner directed and produced "Ladyhawke" and "Goonies" in 1985, and he directed "Maverick" and "Conspiracy Theory," both of which starred Mel Gibson. JAN 14: Sega does Gameboy?: Sega will be doing some games for the Nintendo Gameboy. Something for the company to do since they are dumping the 'Dreamcast' system. The system is better and has more potential than even the PS2, but just isn't selling. Gameboy? Have ya lost ya mind SEGA. Sega denies it is abandoning the unit. But who would admit it, when the shelves are still full of the units?

JAN 14: MSG: Do you know what MSG is? It stands for Monosodium Glutamate. What is it? It is a food additive for taste. The Japanese restaurants use it, a lot. Do you know the side effects that many people suffer and don't know it? Well, MSG can cause headaches. So if your suffering from headaches often for no apparent reason, this could cause it. It is in most soups, flavored potato chips, stovetop stuffing, and other products. Read the backs of the cans and goods for it. Beware of it.

JAN 14: Matrix Trouble: Michelle Yeoh has announced that she will not participate in the Matrix dual feature project. She is wanting to work on her own production company which conflicts with her Matrix role. The search is on for her replacement. And still no word as whether or not Keannu Reeves actually broke is ankle or not.

JAN 13: Rings Trailer: Believe it or not, fans of the coming 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy stood in line for twelve hours to see 'Thirteen Days' starring Kevin Costner, just to see the Trailer for 'Lord of the Rings'. Barely enjoyable as a television series.

JAN 13: NBC Fucks 600 Employees: Claiming poverty (loss of advertising $$$) NBC told their employees that they would be laying off 10% of them, or about 600 employees. CNN will be killing of another 500 to 1000 people/jobs this year also. Fuckers. At least kiss them before you fuck them.

JAN 13: Black Scorpion: Have you watched this series yet? Man, this series from Roger Corman isn't cheesey. Hell, it isn't even campy. It is just plain horrible. All you get whacked out car, wonderful cleavage and some of the worst acting this side of an old Japanese kung fu flick. I gave the series two episodes and nearly retched up a lung for the effort. There is nothing of value in the series. I find it amazing that Corman will sink money into this black hole for another 44 episodes. I rate it a 'Y' for YUK!!!

JAN 13: T4 Status: Terminator 4 is still working forward, and they are waiting for a commitment from Arnold, though the film could be shot without him, though no one wants that. If Arnold is in he may get a to be a real character, as it is rumored that Skynet used a rebel soldier as the mold for 'the Terminator'.

JAN 13: Poor Angel: A recent episode of 'Dark Angel' gained a poor 4.9 rating. This is not good on a series that costs more than most one hour dramas.

JAN 12: More Scorpion: Variety's Amy Archer is reporting that due to excellent first week ratings for 'Black Scorpion', creator Roger Corman is going ahead with another 44 episodes of the series beyond the 22 episodes already in the can. This order for more episodes is from Roger Corman and not the Sci-Fi Channel.

JAN 12: It's In the Game!: Electronic Arts has announced that it will support Microsoft's new Xbox game console. It will open with Madden NFL Football, Nascar 2000, FIFA, and FI 2000. Berman hinted towards it (see yesterdays news below), and actor Richard Heard, who plays Admiral Owen Paris (Tom Paris' father), told Trek Today when asked was quoted as saying, He would return "for one, maybe two more." Looks like Voyager will get home. Maybe NOT all the crew or even the ship, but some characters will be.

(These five films were mentioned two months ago in the daily news.)

JAN 11: Carter Still Pissed: Chris Carter is still smarting from the way Fox handled and cancelled his short lived series 'Harsh Realm'. He is waiting to see Fox's dedication to promoting and standing behind 'the Lone Gunman' series due this spring. If the show isn't treated well by Fox, Carter will likely NOT return for a 9th 'X-Files' season. Who can blame Carter for wanting some support from the company he works for. Don't we all.

JAN 11: Reeves Down?: Might be. British tabloid newspaper The Sun and the Swedish online paper Aftonbladet, the Coming Attractions Web site reported that Keannu Reeves has broken his ankle while training for Matrix 2 & 3. JAN 11: Fox Trouble: Once again FOX studios is getting the greedy face, this time with ABC over Dharma & Greg. (the other is FOX and WB over Buffy) Contract talks are way apart over money per episode. FOX is shitting in their own face. I sure as hell hope it comes back to bite them in the ass.

JAN 11: Bond, ABC Bond: MGM's James Bond is returning to ABC after a decade for a mere $30M. A promo is scheduled to run all 13 episodes over a two-week span. ABC's deal is only through 2002, and MGM will get them back to sell off again.

JAN 10: Lord Have Mercy: The first episode of season three for 'First Wave' was very good. The one minute scene of Traci Lords was even better as she saves Cade Foster.  She is beautiful, looks mean and is in shape for the role she will take on in season three. What a Babe! This is a great addition to the show. The first episode added a nice twist to the season two finale. First Wave is extreme. Episode Two is ALL Traci.  More of you need to get off your asses and check this show out. The Gua are everywhere.

JAN 10: Chan 46: While talking to USA Today martial arts star Jackie Chan says he is 46 and only has about 4 or 5 years left on his career doing action features. He is currently filming 'Rush Hour 2'.

JAN 10: Walker Rides into Sunset: After about 8 years of it, Chuck Norris is ready to call it quits as Walker: Texas Ranger walks into the Texas sunset with a two-hour series finale.

JAN 10: Aliens vs Predators: Well this on again, off again project might actually be taking place this time as Dark Horse Comics and producer Mike Richardson thinks the time is right for the feature film. Little is being done with either project so the time might be right to create a new franchise. (cinescape onlne)

JAN 10: Trek 11: While at the television critics association UPN winter meetings, Berman was asked if any of the Voyager cast members might appear in the Star Trek Films. Replied Berman... "We may, we may." While that is interesting in itself, Voyager would have to get home in order for them to appear in future Trek films.

JAN 10: Russell's Got Instincts: Action star Kurt Russell has been offered $5M to take on the lead role in Basic Instinct 2 with Sharon Stone. Stone may get paid her $15M whether the film get made or not if her contract is pay or play.

JAN 10: DS9 Movie?:   Berman also said at the TTCA there was the possibility of a two-hour television film based on the Trek series 'Deepspace Nine'. BUT, there isn't anything being seriously discussed about it at this time.

JAN 9: Apes Toys: 20th Century Fox is planning to rack up some serious $$$ with it new 'Planet of the Apes' line. Hasbro will unveil a line of action figures and collectible toys at the Toy Fair, and will ship them to retailers just before the film's July release. Dark Horse Comics will publish ``Planet'' comic books and graphic novels, while Buster Brown will produce footwear. In addition to traditional products such as lunch boxes, posters, knit caps, trading cards, T-shirts and backpacks, the ``Planet'' line will also include dioramas, inflatable furniture, scooters and scooter heads, underwear, clocks and shower caps. The picture is due to wrap filming in April 2000.

JAN 9: X for Nine?: Chris Carter still doesn't know if there will be a ninth season, despite excellent ratings. He isn't under contract for next year, and unless he can re-invent the series and keep it good he won't be back. There is still another X-Files feature being talked about too, but Carter wants to wind down the series first. He also wants Duchovny back for the feature. JAN 9: Buffy Battle Royal: The Hollywood trades are reporting that a war is brewing between the WB and Fox over Buffy as predicted a year ago. Fox wants it all... profits that is. WB pay about $1M per ep and makes about $1.6M per ep with repeats added in from ad revenues. Fox will shop the series around to other networks if they don't get what they want. This could be disastrous for Fox if they aren't careful. Few will do business with them if they screw the WB just to get Buffy on the Fox network.

JAN 9: Xbox Gaming Console: Microsoft chairman Bill Gates wowed a crowd that overflowed the 5,000 -seat auditorium at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel & Convention Center Theater with a demonstration of the graphic and audio capabilities of the device. Xbox is said to have the fastest processing and greatest memory storage capacity of any game console ever. The device's technology is so far advanced that game producers are clamoring to get aboard the Xbox bandwagon, said Lorne Lanning, president of San Luis Obispo, Calif.-based Oddworld. Games are expected to cost in the same $40 price range as the Playstation 2 or even less.

JAN 9: Name Change Game: UPN will delay the 'Paramount Network' name change for the time being. At least until the multi-year deal with Chris Craft is finalized. in light of News Corp.'s pending acquisition of Chris-Craft and News Corp. chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch's recent comments that his company would consider taking an equity stake in UPN -- the network will apparently keep the "U" in UPN, at least for now.

JAN 9: Casting $$$: The Tom Hanks feature 'Cast Away' was number one at the box office for the third straight week, beating out 'What Women Want' and 'Traffic' in its first week of full release. Cast Away has grossed $146.3M in just 24 days. 'What Women Want' has done extremely well too grossing $137.8M in its first 24 days of release.

JAN 9: Dracula 2000: The Wes Craven picture has stayed in the top ten for the last three weeks but has only generated a mere $28M at the box office in its three weeks of release. I think people are tired are the same run of the mill type Vampire. Unless taken in the direction of 'Blade' it gets pretty tiresome.

JAN 9: Trek 5?: Biller told Eon Magazine that the Star Trek 5 series may be delayed due to the strike. They have a concept, and they have a pilot script. He still thinks there is a possibility that it will be made in 2001. Along with NBC, Fox is now interested in the new series.

JAN 8: I Have a Pulse Doctor: Well, hopefully by January 15 UPN will have signed on with Chris-Craft to a three-year deal with their affiliates. The major sticking point in the negotiations appears to be over the length of the contract. UPN had originally been trying to sign the affiliates to a 5 yr deal, but Chris-Craft wants something shorter. Hey What the HELL happened with 'the Paramount Network'? Wasn't the name change suppose to have taken place January 1? UPN is owned by Viacom, who also owns CBS.

SU2 is set in Chicago. the series revolves around a secret team of detectives whose mission is to track and kill ``missing links'' that look like mummies, gargoyles, werewolves and the like. There's no shortage of shootingamid a concurrent hail of humor designed to keep the show on the lighter side. UPN is saying the series will premiere sometime in the spring.

JAN 7: Art Bell Returns: The Paranormally wierd talk show radio host 'Art Bell' returns to his show after walking out in 1998. He has taken care of the family emergency and is ready to return. Paramount/ Viacom is interested in saving the series for its 'BET' network. But they want backend money on the old episodes. What it comes down to is, is that the studio simply didn't think the show could fetch much money in syndication. Now we kill a series for what it won't make after its gone. Piss on what it can make us right now. Hmmmm, that is pretty fucked up yunno.

JAN 7: All Souls: The Aaron Glenn  series 'All Souls' is set in a haunted Boston hospital where ghosts roam

JAN 7: K.I.T.T.: Got an early 80's firebird you want to look like K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider inside and out? Well, I saw this site Knight Rider registry site with a guy who makes the parts. What is incredible is the price to do the conversion. Here is the total... relax and take a deep breath... $8225. Shit the new car back then cost almost that much. The Complete dash which looks awesome is $3100 alone. To pricey for my blood. Well, if your interested in checking it out, got to Yahoo.com and look up Knight Rider in the TV Shows area.

JAN 7: Ponderosa: Due to the original series from the 60's still raking in the audiences PAX Television is developing a prequel series based on the series 'Bonanza'. PAX's marathon of the old series brought in huge audiences.

JAN 6: No Instincts: Rumors abound that the other Vanja/Kassar picture, Basic Instinct 2, has had the plug pulled on it. Likely til after the strike or not at all. They are having trouble getting a male lead for the picture. Robert Downy Jr. and Michael Douglas have passed on the role. Sharon Stone is ready, willing, able and in shape for the role. I would be too if I was due to get $15M for the film. No End Stinks Like Your Own.

JAN 6: Future Futurama: The animated series 'Futurama' has been greenlighted for 2k1 season already. 18 episodes have been ordered for it fourth season.

JAN 6: Timeline: The feature film based on the ever so boring novel from Michael Crichton, Timeline, is having production delayed until after the strike. Richard Donner is directing.

JAN 6: Bye Centropolis: The Emmerich/ Devlin company 'Centropolis (mothership.com and scifi.com) have ended their first look deal with Columbia/Sony. A decision agreed to by both parties. Centropolis is likely to check things on independent terms or will seek a first look deal with another studio.

JAN 6: King of T.V.: King of the Hill also got renewed for next season, as if there was any doubt. This funny show was pretty much a sure thing. It was just a matter of when. This is  a great animated series.

JAN 6:Oh No! It Speaks!: Once again superstar Kate Mulgrew is jabbering about Voyager. She wants to let fans know about the upcoming two-parter in which she says fans will get to see another side of the famous Captain Janeway. Unless it is her bare backside who cares. Wouldn't you think after seven years of watching the lost starship Voyager trek it way across the galaxy, that we would have seen all sides of her character by now? Are they suddenly adding stuff that is now... out of character to spark interest? Likely. Yunno, just get the fuckers home by the end of the season for crying out loud. Think of all the stories they could tell after they get home! Hello?  We'll likely get one of two episodes. Damn!

JAN 6: Bond, Perry Bond: Give me a break concerning the rumor about ex-heart throb 'Luke Perry' taking over as James Bond from Pierce Brosnan. That would be like... Tobey Maguire being Spiderman. Ahhhhhh! He is going to be Spiderman! Oh my God! Brosnan has just one bond left under his current deal, which he wants to extend for three more.

JAN 6: No Clause: Disney has put the sequel to 'The Santa Clause' on the back burner until they get a better script worthy of the original film starring Tim Allen in 1994. The sequel was scheduled to begin filming in the Spring for a Christmas 2001 release.

JAN 6: Freedom: Despite being axed by 'UPN', Freedom still beat its follow-up show 'Level 9' by a .1 percentage point in the ratings. UPN really needs to learn how to use alternate advertising. Like maybe the internet, newspapers, and magazine ads. Maybe letting fans submit scripts or ideas for shows or whatever. They just aren't getting the word out there. Freedom is as good a show as 'The Fugitive' or 'Dark Angel'. I enjoyed the show.

JAN 6: Spiderman: Sam Raimi is again talking about the movie and his fear of letting down the fans of Spiderman. Yunno, the costume change, which is now more like that of the original, and the organic web shooter versus mechanical ones and so on. Hey, Just film the fucking movie and stop tweaking on the script. Your just going to fuck it up if you keep doing it. Hurry up Sam. The fan are ready for the webslinger. With Raimi on the picture it will be good. 'For the Love of the Game' was a great movie that most of you never saw with Kevin Costner.

JAN 5: Napster TV?: Not if Hollywood has a say. Aimed at heading off the digital theft of TV shows and movies, the obliteration computer code would sit in the guts of your digital TV or set-top box and would essentially eat up any bit of programming deemed off limits. Spooked by what has happened to the music industry, movie and TV executives have vowed an aggressive campaign to prevent a repeat on their turf. And they appear to have won the latest round, despite a pitched battle from consumer electronics companies and retailers, who fear that curbs on what people can watch will hurt sales of digital TVs. The results aren't pretty: Now, when people switch over to digital TVs, if they ever do, it's not just that they won't be able to create infinite perfect copies of movies and television shows to bootleg or trade for free on the Internet. Under the new rules, they will not be able to make a copy on the den TV and then play it in the bedroom or take the tape over to a friend's house. Watch out when you buy that new TV.

JAN 5: T3 Delayed: Kassar & Vajna haven't been able to get a completion bond for T3 because they don't know if they can be done filming before the writers and actors strike. Financiers are also worried about a picture with Arnold starring after the performance of the last two films, 'End of Days' and 'the Sixth Day'. This film, if actually made, will likely not be done until after the strike.

JAN 5: Batman Sequels. Neither feature has been given the green light yet from Warner Brothers though both are currently in development status. Neither will begin production until after the strike. However, it is unlikely too that Warner will green light both projects for a Batman franchise that has struggled at the box office. (Entertainment Weekly)

JAN 5: Stan Lee Media: Stan Lee Media Inc., a creator of animated programs for the Internet and other venues, Tuesday said the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating trading in the company's stock. The company, which in mid-December laid off most of its staff and suspended production after failing to obtain a new round of financing, also said its own inquiries have uncovered ''evidence of possible misuse of company funds by some former members of the company's management team.''

JAN 5: Grinch $$$: Grinch just sucked up another $60M as ABC and Disney have paid for the broadcast rights to the Jim Carrey live action feature 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'. In 2004 ABC will get 10 airings while Disney will get multiple runs of the film. (hollywood reporter)

JAN 5: Blade is Gross: David Gross, the singer turned actor, who landed a role in 'Blade' back in December will be playing 'Blade's' adversary and leader of the Vampire gang... 'The Reapers'.

JAN 5: Survivor 2: Well, stupid people watching stupid shows have Survivor 2 coming soon. Can't believe ankone would think this is real. Jeez....

JAN 4: Walston Passes: Ray Walston who starred in 'My Favorite Martian' and appeared two of the Star Trek series has passes away. Walston passed on Jan 2, in his Beverly Hills home of natural causes. Ray Walston was a great actor and appeared in a wide number of series and feature films. He will be missed.

JAN 4: Paxton Hulking:  Rumors from Coming Attractions are reporting that 'Aliens' star Bill Paxton is in the running to star as the mild mannered 'Bruce Banner' in the new HULK feature film.

JAN 4: Tron II: After a years worth of rumors Disney has now began on a second draft of the script from original writer and director Steven Lesberger. He is working on it with writer Richard Jefferies. Lesberger is planning to direct the sequel - remake. (hollywood reporter)

JAN 4: Nakita 8: USA Network will begin airing the 8 episode season five of LeFemme Nakita beginning January 7. Unlikely the series the will return after these 8 eps., but you never know with USA Network.

JAN 4: Bewitched: Well, another television show is getting a look at a feature film in 'Bewitched'. The ABC running television series ran for 252 half-hour episodes from Sept. 1964 to Mar. 1972. Popcorn.com is reporting that Cameron Diaz is being considered for the role.

JAN 4: Trek X:  Writer John Logan (gladiator), told the official Star Trek web site, that the new star trek will mention the Dominion war from DS9 and Worf's assignment on the Klingon homeworld, (but will he be in the film?). Picard will have a nemesis equal to Kirk's Khan, the Romulans will appear in the movie along with some aliens we may not have seen in a while since the original series. Logan has also added some great new aliens and starships. Logan is being extremely mindful of the long legacy of the series. Why aren't they mixing in some of the DS9 characters.

JAN 4: Voyager:  Paramount and producers have taken the actors out of the loop as to whether the ship and crew will get home. They are afraid the cast will let it slip, or that maybe that Robert Beltran will just tell everyone. Who really cares. Those watching the show for the last seven seasons, like me, will watch regardless. Those who hardly every watch may or may not. Not like the ratings are going to sky-rocket for that night. And who would give a shit, since it is the last episodes of the friggin' series. Shit, it isn't like 'Who Shot J.R.?'.

JAN 4: More Labels: Per request VHS Side Labels for 'Lois & Clark' and 'UFO' have been added to the site. Enjoy.

JAN 4: Mac Hurts: Apple Computer  is cutting prices on the Powermac G4's, Powermac G4 Server & Powermac Notebook computers through online retailers and their Mac Stores. The price cut comes after less than expected sales in October and November. For example their Powermac 500Mhz dual processor system will drop $1000 to $2499. Impressive.

JAN 4: Terminator 3: The Swartz told WNCI radio morning show that Pita Wilson was in the running for the role of the female terminator. They are interested in someone who could play the villain like Robert Patrick did. They haven't picked anyone yet. (This tidbit was reported from CHUD who say they got it from Dark Horizon. This seems unlikely as the Dark Horizon website is currently not being updated. Check it out for yourself at Dark Horizon.com)

JAN 4: Oceans 11: The remake starring George Clooney is due to begin filming in Las Vegas, at the Bellagio hotel and Casino in February. The film also stars Julia Roberts and Matt Damon.

JAN 4: Frakes Wants In: If at all possible with his scheduling Jonathan Frakes would love to direct the ten film and first of the new millennium. He said he would be thrilled and Proud. He does feel the Paramount needs to go balls out on the next film. A true action/adventure film. Paramount needs to quit being so tight fisted with the cash on a project (star trek) that has made the studio over a billion dollars in revenue counting series, movies, clothes, and toys. Spend some dough and go all out. There have been Ten features counting this new film, and NEVER has Paramount spent $100M on one of the movies. Never have they gone out and gotten a huge actor to play opposite of the crew in the features. They just want to make money off 'Star Trek' without putting any $$$ out. Fuckers!

JAN 2: New VHS Labels: Just added some new labels for some favorite series out there.  Sheena (3 one), Starsky & Hutch, Queen of Swords, Replaced Walker Texas Ranger (this one is great), Nikki, and the series Man From Uncle. There are over 220 labels for your collection.

JAN 2: Busy Beginning: A slew of productions should be getting underway to start the new year due to the looming writer and actors strike scheduled for the summer. Hopefully 2001 will bring us a better selection of genre films than we had for 2000. Pitch Black had to have been the biggest surprise. There were way to many disappointments to mention here.

JAN 2: More Sci-Fi: The Sci-Fi Channel has reached out again ordering another new series for 13 eps in 'News From The Edge'. It an hour long drama about a tabloid new paper whose strange stories keep coming true. The series is schedule to begin airing this summer. Production is expected to be completed before the writers strike.

JAN 2: Blade Money: In order to cut production costs for Blade 2: Bloodhunt, both star Wesley Snipes, and director Del Toro are deferring part of their salaries. Production is due to begin March 12.

JAN 1: Happy New Year: Hope the new year brings all of you what you wish and are working towards.

JAN 1: Site Changes: There have been some slight changes to the site for 2001. Hopefully a more professional touch while still lending to the genre theme, which is nothing like the ordinary sites on the web. Lots of information and stuff to do. Enjoy...

JAN 1: Hot Nicole: Anna Nicole Smith is getting pissed off with 'Playboy' magazine as they are planning to run photos of the playmate from extra photos taken in the early 90's.  She doesn't think it will help her court case in the getting the $450M she was awarded in an early court case which was appealed by her dead husbands son. Playboy doesn't care if she is pissed off or not.

JAN 1: Freedom: The UPN short lived series 'Freedom' has finished its run with seven of the thirteen episodes being broadcast. If your recording them, hopefully they will hit the TV in the summer, when UPN is likely to bring them back with the new episodes. Maybe sooner than later the series will find its way onto the Sci-Fi Channel. January 5 will be the final rerun of the series.

JAN 1Swellon' Melons:   Catherine Zeta Jones was six months pregnant when she did the new movie 'Traffic'. As you can see by this picture the soon to be mom (she's had the baby now) should have put those swinging milk sacks in a tit hanger when out in public.

JAN 1: Retail vs Internet: Thanks to retailers worry about a rivalry of manufactures selling their products online, nearly 80% of the manufactures in the market do NOT sell their own products online. That is why some manufactures allow their products to be sold online, but only at retail price. Some manufactures are offering incentives for online sales. for example Ethan Allen gives 25% to retailers selling directly from their stores and gives 10% to the closest store near someone purchasing the product online. Nice payment for doing nothing.

JAN 1: Military Playstation: Iraqi groups linked to President Saddam Hussein bought 1,400 PlayStation 2 units at toy shops around Detroit and are shipping them to the Iraqi military, NBC reported, citing an unidentified U.S. customs official. Although no export controls exist on such games, NBC reported, the microprocessors in the PlayStation 2 are extremely powerful.  "If somebody buys and uses PlayStations for military purposes, it is something we cannot control," a Sony representative told the Agence France-Presse. Sony says it has no control over the use of the microprocessors in its PlayStation 2 game console, after NBC reported that Iraq bought the machines for their military potential.

JAN 1: AMD goes to War: In 2001 AMD is planning to enter a war with Intel as it will enter the Corporate PC market. Intel is constantly under bidding deals AMD works with companies like HP, DELL and others. Under bidding to a point that the company will lose money just to keep AMD out of the Corporate PC accounts. Intel is already having execution problems with their new chips which AMD does not have now. AMD is looking bright with $1.2B in cash going into 2001. Intel is scared, they are no longer the top dog. AMD should be entering a heavy advertising campaign this new year. The Athlon chip is incredible even compared to the P4, who system ram is sooooo outrageously priced to AMD's PC150 ram.

JAN 1: Star Wars Rough Cut: Lucas' rough cut of the SW: Episode II was about two hours in length. There will be about 4 more full length cuts before the film is released. In March Lucas, crew and cast will return to Australia to shot some additional footage. The special effects still need to be added. Imagine those five rough cuts floating around the internet. It would be great.
