MAR 31: Pern
Pilot Halted: The new series in production for the WB, 'Dragonriders
of Pern' has grinded to halt due to creative differences. The series
isn't cancelled yet, but it is close to it. The pilot was already in
production and most of the sets for the series have been completed. If the
WB backs out, like Alliance Atlantis did, Fox Regency could still shop the
series around to another network. It would be great fit for UPN if they
have the funds to put into it.
MAR
31: Trek V: The new Star Trek
series is now in full pre-production. Within the next few weeks set
construction is due to begin on the series. Herman Zimmerman is
working on both interior and exterior designs. Rick Berman believes
they will have the pilot movie, and at least one episode in the can
before the strike. Sets will be constructed where Vanilla Sky, with
Tom Cruise is being shot on the Paramount lot. Hard to believe they
won't be moving the series to Vancouver. :)
MAR 31: Alien
Nation: The DVD version of the original movie is due out soon. No
extras worth mentioning folks. A Trailer and a 6+ minute featurette. Big
whoop. This is not a recommended purchase by any means unless you just
wanted the film for your DVD collection. Save the cash and purchase the
DVD release of 'V' the mini-series.
MAR 31: Fandom.com
Out?: Looks like the Science Fiction company Fandom.com may be
closing down if they don't find a new partner in a hurry. The company was
already in trouble and now an important investor has backed out sending
Fandom into a rush. UGO.com is interested in acquiring the company but
nothing is done yet. Fandom.com purchased 'Cinescape Magazine' and
Creation Entertainment. This is another case of a company growing to
fast on the internet and now is having financial trouble. (trek today)
MAR 31: Voyager
Love: According to Star Trek Central, first officer Chakotay
and Seven of Nine will get together in the season finale. So far now, we
know that no one is going to die, Seven and Chakotay will get together,
and possibly Janeway will be left behind in the Delta Quadrant as Voyager
gets home.
MAR 30: Crusade: Babylon 5 spin-off series 'Crusade', which TNT
cancelled before ever airing, will premiere on the Sci-Fi Channel
beginning April 9th. The series only has 13 episodes.
MAR 30: Invisible
Man: The Sci-Fi Channel's 'Invisible Man' airs its season finale
part 2 episode tonight at 8pm. Season 3 begins the following Friday
night.
MAR 30: Conan
Goes King: Conan, the series star 'Ralf Moeller' has apparently
landed a major role in the upcoming 'Scorpion King' (Dark Horizon). At one point last year Conan was suppose to return for a second season.
Not likely at this point.
MAR 30: C.S.I.
Repeat Rights: With only one season under its belt, the new series
'C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigation' has landed a mega rerun rights deal
with TNN worth a reportedly $1.5M per episode. TNN is not permitted to run
C.S.I. during primetime hours until 2004.
MAR 30: UPN
negotiations continue: Karmazin praised the "tremendous
progress" UPN has made. He called it a "great asset" that
he would like to keep. Viacom is in continuous negotiations with News
Corp. on a new affiliate agreement for the Chris-Craft stations and a
possible ownership stake and management involvement of News Corp. in UPN.
Karmazin confirmed that he is considering letting News Corp. have an
ownership stake in the network. "If we're able to enter into
long-term affiliation agreement with the owner of these stations,
essentially Fox, then I sure as hell am prepared to give it every shot and
do everything ... to make it profitable," Karmazin said.
MAR 30: Voyager:
Star Trek Voyager scored what is likely its best rating this season for
the week of March 5th hitting a 3.5 rating taking out Buffy, Charmed and
Angel. The season finale, if we ever get to it, will likely score the
series best ratings. The series has been airing repeats for the last
month, dragging out the final season.
MAR 29: Neverending
TV: Neverending Story novels from writer Michael Ende spawned three
successful movies has now been picked up by Hallmark Entertainment as a
new TV Series. The series is currently filming Montreal Canada. Mark
Rendall will play the key role of Bastian. Other actors joining the series
will be Jane Wheeler, Lisa Bronsyn Moore, and John Dunn-Hill.
MAR
29: Visitor Blond: Deepspace
Nine actor Nana Visitor will be a blond when she makes her
appearance on Dark Angel. Photo courtesy of SFX
network. She will play the villain in the last few episodes of
the first season. Visitor is married to DS9 actor Alexander Siddig,
who played doctor Julian Bashir.
MAR 29: Voyager
Finale: Robert Duncan McNeil, Tom Paris, told Cinescape's Greg
Norris and Laura Van Vleet that none of the characters die in the season
finale. But the two hour ending is loaded with action, great space battles
and emotionally charged scenes bringing all the characters and their
stories full arch.
MAR 29: Lone
Gonemen: That might be the new title by FOX in the near future for
Chris Carter's third attempt for another successful series since the
X-Files. The ratings continue to drop and it is now a wonder whether the
series will make it the fist six episodes done much less the full 22
episode season. For Fox TV Carter has done X-Files, Millenium (3 seasons),
Harsh Realm ( 3eps before cancellation) and Lone Gunmen. Carter warned Fox
that a ninth season of X-Files depending on their handling of 'Lone
Gunmen' after the way 'Harsh Realm' was treated.
MAR 29: Las Vegas
Filming: Thursday found Oceans 11 filming outdoors in the sin city
again. This time near the front of the Flamingo Hotel & Casino and
across from the Mandalay Bay at the famous 'Glass Pool Inn'.
MAR 29: Brady
Bunch 3: Fox is rushing into production a third 'Brady Bunch' film.
This time a made for television movie about the unlikely story of Mr.
Brady becoming the president of the United States. Fox is currently
negotiating with Gary Cole and Shelley Long to reprise their roles as Mr.
& Mrs. Brady. You just gotta hope this one falls through.
MAR 29: New
Transformers: Fox Kids Network has ordered up the full 39 episodes
of the new 'Transformers: Robots In Disguise' animated series.
MAR 29: Matrix
Villain: Titus star Harry Lennix has signed on for both Matrix
films to star as Morpheus' nemesis 'Lock'. Production will move into its
Australian facility in September. Warner Brothers is still negotiating
with the Australian government in order to get tax breaks, but has decided
to film there regardless of the outcome.
MAR 28: X-Men II:
Marvel's Kevin Feige told Comic2Film that nothing is set on which new
characters will appear in the sequel. Take what rumors you hear with a
grain of salt. The latest rumor was that Gambit would not be in the
sequel, while the Beast and Sentinels would be.
MAR 28: Austin
Powers III: Mike Myers is currently working on what will hopefully
be the FINAL Austin Powers script. While the films have done decent at the
box office and on video, the films are really terrible.
MAR 28: Gravity:
Fox has picked up the rights to the Sci-Fi medical thriller, 'Gravity'.
The film is based on the book by Tess Gerritsen.
MAR 28: Syndicated
Shows: Andromeda was the number one Sci-Fi syndicated series for
the week of March 5, narrowly beating out Stargate SG-1 and Xena. Amazing
that with Xena still doing so well the series is being brought to an end.
Smart business? Don't think so.
MAR 28: Born
Again: Another cloning movie is in work titled 'Born Again'. This
one is being done for HBO by OZ producers Tom Fontana and Barry Levinson.
Production on the script from Bradford Winters and Sean Jablonski is set
to begin before the impending actors union strike. Bob Balabon is
directing the film. (variety)
MAR 28: Band of
Brothers: Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg will be broadcasting
their $120M, 10 part, TV project 'Band of Brothers' on HBO beginning
September 9th. The project features 500 speaking parts and over 10,000
extras and done by 8 directors. The budget was saved by using virtually
all unknowns with the exception of 'Friends' David Swimmer.
MAR 28: Thieves:
John Stamos is returning to television this fall in 'Thieves'. Joining him
will be rapper Tone Loc (wild thing). Stamos will play a thief forced to
work with the government while Loc plays a government agent in the series.
A female thief co-star will also be joining the cast.
MAR 28: Disney
Jobs Bye Bye: Disney will be dumping 4000 employees citing a
softening economic environment. That's 3% of its work force.
MAR 27: Invisible
Man: The season one finale airs Friday night on the Sci-Fi Channel
with season two starting up the following week. The Prey star turned
Invisible Man, Vincent Ventresca, told the Sci-Fi Wire that season two
will see the Invisible Man use his power for good as always but for bad as
well. If you could become invisible would everything you could use it for
be good?
MAR 27: Terminator
3: Variety is reporting that U571 helmer, Jonathan Mostow is
negotiating to direct the C-2 project. Production is slated to begin with
the end of the pending writers strike. Mostow has met with Arnold a few
times and the meetings have been positive. He may also bring his producing
partner, Hal Lieberman, along.
MAR 27: Biehn
Attitude: Ever wonder why Terminator star Michael Biehn hasn't been
doing to many big time features of late? The character actor has a
reputation in Hollywood for an explosive personality. Biehn has been
signed to costar in the Direct to video sequel 'Omega Code II' with
Michael York, who is also producing. During his two interviews with
director the actor has emotional outbursts and was familiar with Biehn's
reputation. However York thought it might help the production and signed
him anyways.
MAR 27: Pee Wee
Trilogy?: If Paul Ruebens gets his wish Pee Wee Herman will come
back to the big screen in three new films. He told Cin City's Cindy
Perlman that his has written the first two and is working on a third
script as he shops the set around. It has been ten years since Ruebens'
done Pee Wee and got back into it when he did the voice again for a new
doll coming out soon.
MAR 27: Rangers
Delayed: This must be one horrible film for Dimension Films. The
once April 2000 release 'Texas Rangers' starring James Van Der Beek has
again been pushed back to the first quarter of 2002. Why not just release
the film directly to video? With so many push back dates no one in their
right mind will spend $7 or more to see this film.
MAR 27: Alien 5:
While there is really no action on this side of an 'Alien 5' feature and
little talk of an Alien vs Predator film, there actually is an 'Alien 5'
script done. This according to Sigourney Weaver in an interview with IGN
FilmForce. She has never been asked to do it, and really doesn't have the
fire to do another one, though she believes the character isn't finished.
Weaver is 51 years old. The character is done.
MAR 27: Dr.
Bashir: We haven't seen the good Deepspace Nine doctor, Alexander
Siddig, much since the shows ending. His wife, Nana Visitor of DS9, is
joining 'Dark Angel' and Siddig is doing a feature titled, 'Reign of Fire'
for director Rob Bowman. He will play an unkept urchin after dragons have decimated
the world. A few survivors are held up in an old medievil style castle. Be
sure to catch him in the May 22 DVD release of 'Vertical Limit', which did
very well at the box office.
MAR 27: Witchright
Hall Pilot: Comics2Film is reporting that Fox will air the Buffy
spinoff series pilot 'Witchright Hall' sometime next week. The series will
revolve around Sabrina's cousin who is sent to the witches school,
Witchright Hall
MAR 27: Michael
Myers: Michael Myers now has someone cast to be behind the mask.
Stuntman Brad Loree will done the Myers Mask in Halloween 8. It would be
cool though to have the mask removed at the end of the flick and have it
be someone famous.
MAR 27: Episode
One DVD?: Well it just might be. The reported disc set might be
hitting the streets on October 16. AICN
is reporting the story and digital
bits says there may be some truth to the rumor. Lots of time between
now and then. More should be leaking out later.
MAR 27: Demons:
Dark Horizons is reporting The Irrefutable Truth About Demons is a dark,
creepy, and kick ass horror movie from New Zealand. It is a gothic
thriller that is extremely graphically impressive. Run on over to Dark
Horizons for the trailer.
MAR 26: Black
Sheep: Disney's 'Black Sheep' begins filming today in New York and
next month will move to Prague. The Joel Schumaker film stars Chris Rock,
Anthony Hopkins and NYPD Blues Garcelle Beauvais.
MAR 26: All Souls:
With UPN having a quick trigger finger the network only ordered up six
episodes of the Aaron Spelling hospital supernatural series, 'All Souls'.
Naturally if the series does well they would order more.
MAR 26: Babylon 5:
For the week of March 5 thru 11 repeats of Babylon 5 beat out the Sci-Fi
Channels repeats of Farscape, First Wave, Invisible Man, and the Outer
Limits.
MAR 26: Mothman:
darkhorizons.com is reporting that Richard Gere's Paranormal 'Mothman'
should be wrapping production in a few days. Mothman Prophecies is only a
working title and Lakeshore Entertainment is now searching for a suitable
title.
MAR 26: Trek
Death: TrekWeb is reporting a rumor, they doubt, that Captain
Picard rather than Data is being considered for a deathly exit. Stewart
reportedly has wrote the ending that producers and Paramount are
considering. If this should happen we could actually lose two Star Trek
Captains in Janeway and Picard. Time to mix and match the shows cast for
the next film.
MAR 26: Rick
Baker Wins: Rick Baker and Gail Ryan won the Academy Award for best
make-up for the creation of Jim Carrey as the Grinch.
MAR 26: L.E.X.X.
DVD: Acorn Entertainment has fucked up and will be releasing two
LEXX DVD sets on May 29. The screw up coming in the each DVD having just
four episodes from the second season on each one and not a seasonal boxed
set. Nice work guys.
MAR 26: Voyager
Movie: Despite the constant rumors about a possible Voyager Movie
after the series ends, will not happen. The series has not done as well as
DS9 or Next Generation in the ratings. The Star Trek fan base has not be
happy with the series premise or writing on the show. The only way the
Voyager will see a feature film is with some of its cast members mixing
with the other two series in a Star Trek XI film.
MAR 26: Pussycat
Cartoon: Josie and the Pussycats aren't just doing a live action
feature, as they will now be a new animated series too. DIC Entertainment
got the contract for the new series just weeks before the live action
release on April 11. The original animated series was from Hanna/Barbera
and ran from 1970 to 1974 on CBS and 1975 - 1976 on ABC
MAR 26: Harry
Potter Boycott: In case anyone is interested in why you haven't
seen information on the Harry Potter feature film being done by Warner
Brothers is due the actions of Warner Brothers, who have been attacking
kids websites that have anything to do with 'Harry Potter'. Last
year WB stated it would hunt down all Harry Potter cybersquatters
beginning with 'harrypottersawizard.co.uk'. They have done just that since
the statement. I will not report any news for the feature film on this
website nor see the film either. The boycott is on, and I hope you will
all join in on it. These kids websites have been non-commercial and
dedicated the children's stories by the same name.
MAR 26: Duke
Ain't Alone: Threshold Entertainment and Dimension Films may be
bringing 'Duke Nukem' to the big screen in a live action movie but
Threshold has plans for other action big name films which include, 'Conan
the Barbarian', 'Red Sonja' (this tv series is in development hell), 'Ozzy
Osbourne', and 'Heavy Metal'.
MAR 26: Duke
Nukem: The PC Game hero is scheduled to begin production later this
year after the writers strike, even though the first rough draft of the
script has yet to be written. Two new Duke Nukem games are also in
development also.
MAR 26: Exit
Wounds $$$: Joel Silvers 'Exit Wounds' was number three at the box
office this weekend, and has taken in $32.7M. The film has not received
good ratings, but Seagal would not get decent ratings from the media no
matter what he did.
MAR 25: Battlefield
Earth: The votes are in and 'Battlefield Earth' swept almost every category
to win this years worst movie 'Razzie' award.
MAR 25: Outermax:
Another quick note to remind you folks that the folks of 'Cinemax' will be
opening a new pay channel titled 'OUTERMAX' on May 17. Check with your
local cable company to ensure they are going to carry it. Hopefully we'll
see some series broadcast without commercials.
MAR 25: Shadow
DVD: Shadow of the Vampire will hit shelves in DVD format on May 29
at $29.98 with the now standard extras.
MAR 25: The
Invaders: There is a bit mention at 'thedigitalbits.com'
website that Paramount is considering releasing 'The Invaders' series on
DVD. Don't worry though, it won't be a seasonal release like HBO or FOX.
Paramount only release in two or three eps at a time so they can screw
over the public. So, at least you know what to expect.
MAR 25: WWF/WCW:
The WWF has purchased the struggling, money losing sister wrestling
franchise, the WCW form Time Warner/ AOL. The WWF Inc. is planning to keep
the WCW separate. What is nice for the WWF is that all previous law suits
against the WCW will stay against AOL/Time Warner. McMahan is happy with
the ratings of the WCW despite recent drops in the ratings.
MAR 25: We Are
Older Now: Hard to believe that the once star co-star of 'Karate
Kid' and 'Cocktail', Elizabeth Shue is 38 years old. The actress has given
birth to a six+ lb. baby girl. Congrats Shue.
MAR 25: Crime
Channel: Cops producer John Langley and USA Cable are teaming up to
form a new cable channel called 'Crime'. Hmmm... any idea what the channel
will be about. Who would have thought the 'Sci-Fi Channel' would have been
more about horror than sci-fi?
MAR
25: X-Files 3: Fox is planning
the third season DVD boxed set of the 'X-Files' to hit the
shelves May 8th. Go Fox!!!
MAR 25: More DVD
Boxed Sets: Twenty Century Fox has learned well on the boxed sets.
In development at fox are the following series. X-Files S4, Simpsons S1,
and Angel S1. Coming this year is the completed Buffy first season (S1).
Hello Paramount! How dense are you? Never mind, we already know.
MAR 24: DS9
Movie?: Paramount says no, but if fans could have their
way there would be one. Another Star Trek petition is underway to let
Paramount know the fans want one. There are currently 5400 signature on
the petition. If your interested in signing up for that Deepspace Nine
feature film CLICK
HERE. Isn't is like Paramount ever takes the fans of the series in a
serious light. They know we'll take what they give us and like it.
MAR 24: Babylon
Rangers: Production offices have already been set up in Vancouver
for the new Babylon 5 movie 'Legends of the Rangers', which is also a
pilot for a new series. The movie will take place three years from final
events of the Babylon 5 series. Which means ANY of the characters from the
original series could return, even Boxlietner though unlikely. Hope
Garibaldi gets to return.
MAR 24: Iron Man:
There is a rumor, and nothing more than a rumor that Opie Taylor, aka Ron
Howard, has been approached to direct the new film that is still in
development.
MAR 24: Voyager:
Filming began this week on the series finale, 'Endgame'. Rumors should be
flying like crazy. Kate Mulgrew already said she has read the final scene,
and it will be profound and very moving. A diabolical day for her. (trek
today)
MAR 24: Taken:
Steven Spielberg's long, long in development project 'Taken' will now be
showing on the Sci-Fi Channel. The 20 hour mini-series will be shown in
two ten-hour stories. While it will begin filming this year it will not be
seen on the small screen until sometime next year.
MAR 24: X-Men II:
Producer of the first X-Men and the new Galactica series, still isn't
signed for the X-Men sequel. The project continues to move forward as
negotiations continue with him. He is hoping to sign on but it is going
slowly and possibly might not happen.
MAR 24: Blade 3:
David Goyer is interested in a Blade 3 project. He originally talked to
New Line about it and they are interested providing the sequel makes
money. Goyer has always invisioned 'Blade' as a trilogy. Snipes is also up
for a third film, though neither one of them is interested in anything
beyond a third film. Goyer and Snipes are already kicking around ideas for
a possible third storyline.
MAR 24: Charlie's Angels
II: Director McG is up for a sequel and want
the three leading ladies back for one more film. There haven't been any
negotiations with them yet, but scribe John August is working on a script
for the project.
MAR 24: 007:
Drug user 'Whitney Houston' has agreed in principle to co-star with Pierce
Brosnan in the next James Bond film. The final decision has yet to come
from the movie bosses though. And yes, if signed, she will likely
sing the title song for the film too. (dark
horizons) Houston would play an actress who
gets caught with dope at the airport and manages to board her plane
anyways but is later confronted with the crime. OH, Wait! She has already
done that one. Hmmmm...
MAR 24: Halloween
8: Halloween 2 director 'Rick Rosenthal' is now locked in for
Halloween 8 according to halloweenmovies.com.
MAR 23: Buffy
Bidding: UPN wants Buffy, the Vampire Slayer on its 2001 schedule.
They have made a significant offer to 20th Century Fox for the series.
Reports are that even if UPN was to have the highest per episode bid, 20th
would likely not give the series to them. Face it, 20th Century wants the
series on Fox-TV. It was the plan all along.
MAR
23: Battlestar Galactica: The
new proposed series for the Sci-Fi Channel is beginning to gear up.
Offices for the series will open up this month. They have an outline
for the series as are developing a bible on the characters, ships,
aliens, and so on. The Cylon's will be back, but not as the clunky
slow moving robots. Singer and company are saying they will be cool.
Producer DeSanto (X-Men) will be talking with Richard Hatch soon
about the series, but will not say if any of the characters from the
original series will be returning for the new one.
MAR 23: Nick Fury
Returns: The Nick Fury concept is being considered for television
again. This time likely without 'David Hasselhoff' as Nick Fury.
MAR 23: Thor
Dead?: Well, it looks that way. Rick Unger of Marvel Studios told
the comics continuum that the television series is basically nowhere. The
completed script was not picked up for a pilot. They are now trying to
decide what to do with it. Well, why the hell don't you get a new
first time script writer and let them come up with something fresh.
Another series UPN dropped the ball on... Nice goin' guys.
MAR 23: Vailing
Trouble: Seven Days co-star Justina Vail isn't getting along with
series star Jonathan LaPaglia. They are currently filming around her
character as negotiations continue to bring her back after she walked off
the production. Hey, first she has some sort of nervous break down last
season and the cut back on her role, and now this. Man, dump the woman and
get another actor to take her part. Jeez, ya just don't need the headache
and bellyaching.
MAR 23: Firestarter:
The Sci-Fi Channel has green lighted a new mini-series 'Firestarter: The
Next Chapter'. The story picks up 20 years after the end of 'Drew
Barrymores' 1984 film 'Firestarter'. Robert Iscove will direct and
Tom Thayer will produce.
MAR 23: Halloween
8: This moronic eighth sequel finally has landed Halloween 2
director 'Rick Rosenthal' to helm the project.
MAR 23: Trek V:
UPN had a closed door presentation for 135 media buyers but did not have
the fifth Trek series listed. They did say the series is on their season
schedule but would not reveal the premise of the series much less the
title of it. However, UPN honcho Dean Valentine says the new series would
be extra-ordinary and blow peoples minds. Yeah, and writing will be the
same crap we have had for years now. We know.
MAR 23: Rambo IV:
Dark Horizon's reports that Rambo IV may be gearing up for as early as
2003. Stallone has given Warner Brothers a 2004 dealine for the film. The
film will not be titled 'Rambo IV' and reportedly onboard for the project
are Stallone, Jackie Chan, Richard Crenna and Brian Dennehy. It may get
made whether Stallone is onboard or not.
MAR 21: Duke
Nukem Alive: The forever in development project 'Duke Nukem' has a
new home with Dimension Films. The film still has the same producer in
Threshold Entertainments 'Larry Kasanoff', but has no director, actors or
even a scribe. And... Dimension films has release date in mind.
MAR 21: New
Babylon 5 Movie: J.M.S. is working on a new Babylon 5 TV
Movie titled, 'The Legend of the Rangers'. This could be a prelude to a
new series based on the mysterious Rangers. Douglas Netter will return and
produce the movie with J.M.S. Former Babylon 5 cast members may appear in
the new pilot movie. (scifi wire)
MAR 21: Xena to
Die: There are rumors coming from a Local New Zealand Radio station
that the final episodes of Xena: Warrior Princess are in production and
the series will leave Gabriel's future unknown and Xena killed by a group
of Samurai warriors. If true, this is truly an unusual way to end a fan
favorite series. But remember, this one is just a rumor, so
far.
MAR 21: Buffy Up
For Grabs: The deadline has passed for negotiations between 20th
Century Fox and the WB and Fox is now free to offer the series to other
channels. This has been 20th's plan all along in the hopes of moving Buffy
to Fox-TV. This was predicted two years ago in the tabloids. I hope it
will make other networks stay away from 20th Century Fox's television
productions studio.
MAR 21: Poltergeist
Fans Unite: Fans of the Sci-Fi based series
'Poltergeist: The Legacy'. have begun a writing campaign to resurrect the
show. 'Click
Here' if you want to bring back a well done horror series.
MAR 21: Whining
Lycos: Lycos is now claiming the removal of those 100 plus site
with supposed 'copyrighted' material on them was an error. They
don't know how many sites were affected, but will restore them within the
next 24 to 48 hours. Sure they will.
MAR 20: Halloween
8: The new Halloween project still has no official
direct, but the producer 'Paul Freeman' is already scouting locations in
Vancouver for the film.
MAR 20: Voyager: If Michael Piller was heading Star Trek Voyager the
fans of the show would have had an awesome final season rather than the
same stale material we've had from years past. He would have had Voyager
get home half-way through the season and deal with circumstances they've
come home to. Read the entire interview at TREKBRASILIS.
MAR 20: Pluto
Nash Delayed: The long awaited Eddie Murphy feature 'Pluto Nash'
due out in April is being pushed back to sometime in 2002.
MAR 20: Fans
Never Learn: When will fans learn? Lycos Network has deleted more
than 100 fan and fan fiction websites as of March 18, out of concern that
the sites 'MIGHT' have contained copyrighted material. This included
dozens of sites dedicated to Buffy, Angel, The X-Files, and Star Trek.
This included some sites that were the most popular fan sites on the web.
This type of censorship includes the web carriers 'Lycos', 'Tripod' (Lucas
Owns?) and the shitty one 'Angelfire'. BOYCOTT THESE SITE HOSTS. IF YOUR
SITE IS ON ONE OF THESE THREE MOVE IT TO ANOTHER ONE.
MAR 19: Exit
Wounds: Steven Seagal kicked some serious ass at the box office
this weekend taking in $19M. This is Seagal's first movie in three years.
His last film was a direct to video feature in 1998 titled 'The Patriot'. Now
to see if the film has any staying power and can make some decent cash.
Seagal is 49 years old and Exit Wounds was done for $40M.
MAR 19: CDR
Images: I have added a CDR image area to the site. You can check it
out in the VCD area. Enjoy. So far there is only about 10 series
there, but more is coming soon. Check them out.
MAR 19: VideoCD:
Prey, and VR.5 front and back covers have been added to the site today.
CLICK HERE for the VideoCD Area.
MAR 19: Captain
Backula?: Trek Today is reporting that Paramount is in negotiations
with 'Quantum Leap' star, 'Scott Backula' to star in their new Star Trek
series 'Enterprise' as the ships captain.
MAR
19: Hamlton Out?: In an
interview with Linda Hamilton to the Associated Press, her manager
says the 44 year old Linda Hamilton would NOT be returning for
'Terminator 3'. Earlier reports had been released that she was
already signed on to the project. Perhaps the actress has withdrawn
from the picture. (44? Man, almost to old for a Beauty and Beast TV
Movie)
MAR 19: Artisan
Rules: Artisan Entertainment has decided to release Wayne Wang's
'The Center of the World' feature unrated and uncut after getting an NC-17
thrown at it. Artisan says they stand behind the artist and their vision.
Excellent! Maybe companies like Univeral, Dimension, and others
should grow some balls and take a look at Artisan. Way to go!!!
MAR 19: Big Money:
The year 2000 found over 100 movies breaking the $100M mark. A new record
from 1999 which had 21 films surpass $100M. Universal lead the way
with four films break the mark. Dreamworks and Disney's Buena Vista each
had 3 films.
MAR 19: WCW
Slammed: Turner network has announced that TBS and TNT will no
longer be broadcasting the WCW on their networks. Says Turner Network
spokesman, "It is not consistent with the upscale brands we've built
with TNT and TBS." ( Of course it has nothing to do with the
fact that Turner is selling off the WCW and it is losing over $80M per
year. No way.)
MAR 19: New Deal
for Artisan: Artisan Entertainment and Showtime Networks have
extended their current deal through 2008. The deal involves more than 130
films which includes some of their new films as well.
MAR 19: Affiliate
Meeting Cancelled: ABC, NBC, Fox, and UPN have all cancelled their
Affiliates summer meetings. It is likely due to the fact that over 600
affiliates have filed with the FCC that they are being man-handled and
pressured programming and operation decisions. Likely a matter of time
before CBS and the WB join the others.
MAR 18: New
Sci-Fi Channel:
On May 17th Cinemax will launch it own Sci-Fi Channel. Check with your
cable company to make sure you are going to get this one.
MAR
18: VCD Cover: Quickly added
Land of the Giants, and Brimstone to the VCD Cover area. They came
out great. Other great series have joined the bunch like 'LeFemme
Nakita' and 'First Wave'. Check them out. Click
Here for the new section to the site. Covers are full size to
print, cut and insert.
MAR 18: PJ's Dead:
The Eddie Murphy animated series 'The PJ"s' is apparently headed for
the scrape heap based on the series cost to produce it. (e online)
MAR 18: PREY:
The group to save 'PREY' are creating a new VCD/VHS video to promote
getting once mentioned Sci-Fi Channel TV Movie back on track. Since the
idea of Battlestar Galactica and a new Babylon series/movies, the idea for
a Prey Conclusion movie has been put on the back burner. When the video is
ready look for it here at Sci-Fi 2000.
MAR 18: Farscape:
The season 3 premiere of Farscape stayed as far on the edge as season 2
ended with an incredible episode. This is by far the best and most
unique Sci-Fi drama series on television today. Each episode continues to
offer something spectacular to its fans. If you aren't watching this
Sci-Fi Channel original series you are missing out.
MAR 18: Star Trek
V: The folks over at Trek Today are reporting that the new series
could begin production as early a May 8. They are also reporting on what
might be the crew, which seems to line up with characters from the
original Star Trek. And at least for the first season or so we might not
have to hear about the stupid 'Prime Directive' that Star Trek throws up
at the fans and don't do what they should, while breaking it every chance
they get.
MAY 18: Green
Arrow: DC Comics and writer Kevin Smith are pulling out a near
forgotten superhero, 'Green Arrow'. One reason for dusting off the
archer could be an attempt to shoot the superhero on the big or small
screen sometime in the future. GA was a great comic years ago and was
suddenly forgotten by DC Comics. I hope his return is a long one.
MAR 18: CDR
Stickers: Coming Soon I will add a section of CDR Covers to the
site for being stuck on the cdr's you are dubbing. They will match the
covers coming to the site. Got a few done already. When I have some to go
with it, I'll get them up for ya'll. Keep checking back for them.
MAR 17: Dead Zone:
Michael Bloom shot me an email today with news that 'Anthony Michael Hall'
will be reprising Christopher Walken's role in the upcoming UPN Pilot 'The
Dead Zone'. (thanks Michael)
MAR
17: Mutant X: The new series
continues to move forward. The official website has posted that
casting is down to a short list as screen tests continue getting
done. The new series will also have some unique vehicles and ready
room called Mutant-X Sanctuary.
MAR 17: Trek V:
On the new series, sets have been constructed already and casting will
begin soon.
MAR 17: Weaveworld:
Clive Barker told the Sci-Fi Wire that his six-your Showtime mini-series 'Weaveworld'
may be nearing production soon. Casting has yet to take place. Filming of
the mini-series will be done in Australia and take approximately two years
to complete due to the extensive special effects that have to be
completed.
MAR
17: Terminator 3: Casting still
continues as WWF's 'Chyna' gave an interview with French Canadian's
MTV, that she hasn't signed onboard yet, but is still trying hard
for the role. Last rumor was that Chyna and Peta Wilson were going
after the role as the female Terminator. (dark horizons)
MAR 17: Voyager:
Who dies? Rumor has always been that Janeway will die in the finally
trying to get Voyager home, and may be true as the series finale opens in
the future with the Janeway character being an imposter. With what they
haven't done with the characters they might kill off 'Chekotay, Torres,
and Kim'. These were forgotten the most over the past three years. Berman
says the two-hour finale is more than enough time to deal with the end of
Voyager.
MAR 17: Futurama
Renewed: The animated TV series 'Futurama' has been renewed for
another season of 18 episodes.
MAR 17: Fox
Catches a Roach: Austin Powers director Jay Roach has signed a long
term contract with 20th Century Fox and Fox 2000. Upcoming projects at Fox
for Roach include 'Spy vs Spy' and the third 'Austin Powers' feature.
Other studios were interested in locking him up on the same type of deal
by Fox pulled the trigger first.
MAR 16: Alien vs
Predator: While talking with TV Guide online, and debunking the
Alien 5 Rumors, Sigourney Weaver did mention she had heard that 20th
Century Fox was working on an 'Alien vs Predator' feature, which she not
interested in doing. (and we don't want her in that one either unless she
dies in the firs two minutes.)
MAR 16: Trek X:
While talking to UK's News of the World and again responded that Trek X
will likely be out next year and it will be the final movie for just the
Next Generation crew. She thinks that Patrick Stewart doesn't want to do
anymore movies since he has two franchises going on with Star Trek, and
now the X-Men. ( Hey, what fans said we wanted you back for another one.
Take a hike. The DS9 crew would be much better.)
MAR 16: Basic OO7:
Pierce Brosnan told USA today's Jeanie Williams that also turned down the
male lead in McTiernan's 'Basic Instinct 2'. The character has some
distasteful elements that he wasn't interested in doing. (It looks to me
that NO ONE wants to do a picture with Sharon Stone, and not the script,
director or producer)
MAR
16: Spawn 2: It appears that
Michael Jai White (spawn & universal soldier 2) will be
reprising the role of McFarlane's 'Spawn'. White is excited that the
new film will be more true to the comics that the first film. A true
horror/action film. This will be the film everyone anticipated for
the first one.
MAR 16: Apes
Finale: Tim Burton has reportedly filmed five different endings to
his new film 'Planet of the Apes'.
MAR 16: Florida
Wars: For true 'Star Wars' fans who have some bucks in the bank,
George Lucas and Disney World Florida have teamed up for four consecutive
weekends where fans can gather with cast and crew of the four star wars
films. There will also be a cantina street party and take part in a Jedi
knight training program. It begins May 4.
MAR 16: Spiderman
Comics: Babylon 5 creator/writer J. Michael Stracynski takes over
on Amazing Spider-man #30. He wants to make the comic more relevant to
current teens. JMS is also working on a new series/ TV movies for the
Sci-Fi Channel. Possibly set in the Babylon 5 universe.
MAR 16: Farscape
Premiere: Season 3 premieres tonight on the Sci-Fi Channel. Don't
miss it! This is a unique... out there series, that all sci-fi fans should
be watching. First Wave too for that matter.
MAR 14: Ocean's
11: Filming in Las Vegas throughout this week at the Bellagio, and
include a night shooting at Four Seasons ( which is attached to Mandalay
Bay) and an early daytime shooting outside the Flamingo, which is across
from Caesar's Palace.
MAR 14: Trek V:
As expected, Star Trek series designer Michael Okuda will be crossing over
into the same job for the Star Trek series currently in development at
Paramount. Okuda has worked on all the Trek series and all the movies
since Star Trek: the Voyage Home. (official star trek website)
MAR 14: Zippy:
The animated series Zippy, the Pinhead is now set to be a series for the
Showtime cable network. Pentamedia Graphics of India has bought 60% of the
animated series stake and will produce it with Simpsons producer Film
Roman. (hollywood reporter)
MAR 14: Matrix
Effects: Manex, who did the incredible special
effects for the Matrix will not be hired to do the effects for the
sequels. They will be using in-house effects unit for both sequels that
are filming now. (dark horizons)
This is a big mistake!
MAR 14: Freakylinks:
Despite fan support for the show and petitions to save it, Fox appears not
to have any intentions of bringing the show back. There are four unaired
episodes which Fox may air this summer, but Fox isn't sure about that
either as they are deciding what to do with them. They could do like
'Harsh Realm' and air them on FX at some point as well.
MAR 14: Blade 2:
Production began Monday in Prague at the soundstages and various
locations. The entire film will be shot in the Czech Republic. (variety)
Blade 2 is budgeted at $50M which may be why the film is being done in the
Czech Republic to help cut costs.
MAR 14: Jurassic
Park III: Knowledge Adventure has acquired the game rights for the
new feature film. They will produce a total of three CD Rom games based on
the Jurassic Park III.
MAR 14: the Mummy:
Rachel Weisz again mentioned in an interview with the Calgary Sun, that if
they do another Mummy feature she will not be in it.
MAR 14: Wolf Lake:
The new series mentioned here last month (it's in the Channel News Area
too) now has cast Lou Diamond Phillips, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead to
roles in the upcoming CBS Werewolf Drama.
MAR 13: Scorpion
King: Kelly Hu has officially signed on to the Scorpion King. She
will take on the female lead, Cassandra. A prisoner of an evil warlord the
Scorpion King must attempt to defeat. They fall in love with each other.
MAR 13: Tracker:
The new syndicated Adrian Paul series, 'Tracker' has been picked up
by more than 70% of the U.S. television market as 'Chris Craft' has signed
on to carry the series. Craft stations include KCOP in LA, WWOR in NY, as
well as the UPN affiliates.
MAR 13: More
VCD's: Two more VCD jewel case covers have joined the
others. The Pretender and Star Trek Voyager make their debut today. VCD
Covers
MAR 13: Bab 5
Wins: For the week of 2.19.2k1 repeats of Babylon 5 outscored the
Sci-Fi Channels Farscape, First Wave, and L.E.X.X.
MAR 13: Gunmen
Struggling?: The second episode of 'the Lone Gunmen' did not do so
well dropping 4M viewers from it 13M the previous week. (hollywood
reporter) With Fox, it won't take much for them to pull the plug.
MAR 13: Duchovny
Wants Change: X-File actor David Duchovny appears ready to leave
the genre for a while according to his interview with E-online. He is
planning his next feature to not include aliens. He is currently doing the
Ivan Reitman SF Comedy 'Evolution'. The guy just isn't a great
actor that he can carry a feature film. He should stick to
television.
MAR 13: Freddy vs
Jason: Dark Horizon's is reporting that the new script for Jason vs
Freddy is being written Matt Thompson and Camren Burton. The storyline
revolves around a witch who has resurrected Jason to avenge the death of
her son. Jason has others plans and goes head to head with Freddy Krueger
in a twisted dreamworld.
MAR 13: More
Simpsons?: Producer Michael Reiss is reporting that negotiations
are underway for the Simpson 13, 14, and possible 15th seasons. (dark
horizons) The ratings for Simpsons on Fox are in line with the past
seasons. Simpsons has yet to be renewed for the fall.
MAR 12: Tick in
Black: Patrick Warburton, who stars in Fox's upcoming series the
Tick, has announced that he will be in the new 'Men In Black 2' feature.
He will play Will Smith's new partner in the opening of the film. (before
Jones is brought back). (action-adventure page)
MAR 12: Corpses:
New Line Cinema is hot to pick up the distribution rights to 'the House of
1000 Corpses." According to AICN, the next wonder is whether New Line
(AOL/Time Warner) will release the film as an NC-17 rating and be willing
to suffer the screams of Politicians and parent groups. Apparently
Universal feared an NC-17 rating and backed away from the Rob Zombe $8M
feature film.
MAR 12: Mutant X:
The series now scheduled for the fall 2001 season is moving forward as
production prepares for the move to Canada where the series will be
filmed. Jamie Paul Rock (producer) and Rocco Mateo (production designer)
are onboard from LeFemme Nakita. Several veteran genre writers are
onboard. Howard Chaykin ( the flash, & viper), Mark Lisson (viper,
hunter & MacGuyver), David Newman (superman 1, 2, & 3) and
Elizabeth Keyishian (queen of swords).
MAR 12: VCD News:
New covers should be uploading today which includes 'the Lone Gunmen'
& 'Andromeda'. VCD Covers
MAR 12: Green
Lantern: The underrated DC Comic Superhero 'Green Lantern' is
sitting with Eagle Cove Entertainment, who produced the movies 'Deep Blue
Sea', and 'Family Man'. Eagle Cove also, interestingly enough, has
the rights to 'the Sandman', 'Starsky & Hutch' and 'Tomcats'. Wow,
Starsky and Hutch... if done right, with the right actors, could be the
next Lethal Weapon franchise.
MAR
12: Wars 3 Novelization: The man
blamed for killing 'Chewbacca' is about at the half-way point in the
Star Wars: Episode II novelization. Like Terry Brooks who did
'Episode I' will be expanding the story from the film. He will be
able to tell events not seen in the film. Of course the story is
getting guidance from the big head, George Lucas.
MAR 11: VCD
Covers: Just added a few new VideoCD
covers to the site which includes, 'LaFemme Nakita'.
MAR 11: Terminator
3: Filming of the third installment appears to be set just before
the summer. Still no official word on who will play the female villain in
the film. Arnold seems to want 'LeFemme Nakita's' Pita Wilson. With the
Matrix sequels starting to hit full stride Carrie Ann Moss is out of the
running.
MAR 11: Ghosts of
Mars: Anthrax is currently recording the score for John Carpenter's
'Ghosts of Mars' feature film.
MAR 11: No
Enterprise: We now have a Trekker newletter that is debunking all
rumors surrounding the new Trek series, which includes being entitled
'Enterprise' and the characters the vulcan T'Pau and Captain Jackson
Archer. (scifi wire) Oh, it's from a very reliable source. Yeah, we'll see
what we'll see.
MAR 11: X-Files 9:
Fox is currently negotiating with Chris Carter for a ninth season. He is
willing to return for another season under the right circumstances.
Duchovny is also being negotiated with, except his will be for even LESS
screen time. (just dump the guy). Gillian is reportedly signed for a ninth
season.
MAR 11: Knight 3k
update: The new Knight Rider 3000 movie could be a television movie
rather than a feature film. (dark horizons)
MAR 11: Did You
Know: Batman Forever had nearly one hour of footage cut from the
final version of the film. It is rumored, though unlikely knowing Warner
Brothers, that the new DVD boxed set of the live action Batman films may
have that version in them. The said boxed set is also scheduled to be done
like the new Superman DVD set. (only the first film starring Michael
Keaton will have all the extras done to it.) Personally I am rooting for
the hour of new footage in Batman Forever.
MAR 11: Carmen
Electra: On the Daily Show 'Carmen Electra' mentioned she has a
part in an upcoming Stan Lee superhero movie. Unfortunately she did not
mention the title.
MAR 11: Van Halen:
the release of their new album is due soon. Their first with the return of
David Lee Roth to the bank. The first single of the album will be 'Magic
Carpet Ride'.
MAR 10: Knight
Rider 3000: In a recent chat with David Hasselhoff, aka Michael
Knight, he told fans of his plans to resurrect the 80's series 'Knight
Rider' for the big screen. Michael will be brought out of retirement after
being frozen, because he was injected with a fatal poison. Devon, who is
now the great- great- grandniece of Devon, Michael's boss, is now running
the Foundation for Law And Government, which is called FLAG. She with here
new partner (a very young Michael Knight type), will team up with the
original Michael Knight and the new K.I.T.T. to carry on what will be the
Knight Rider 3000 in the future. (cinescape) Knight Rider on the big
screen doesn't sound like a great idea. About six TV movies has a better
ring to it. Hasselhoff doesn't have the feature film savy to carry it off.
MAR 10: Halloween
8: With director Whitney Ransick no longer being involved with the
project director of Halloween 2, Rick Rosenthal, is being considered to
step into the chair. Also, model Tyra Banks is being considered for a part
in the film. Wonder which victim she will be? Maybe a shower scene.
Heeheheheheh. Kidding.
MAR 10: Genre
Ratings: The Fox series Dark Angel scored well again in the ratings
for the week of 2/12 hitting a 7.0. X-Files kicked it with a 9.4 ratings.
Also doing well based on their networks were Futurama 4.9, Charmed 3.4,
Buffy 3.3, Voyager 3.2. Even Angel and Seven Days kick it up a notch with
3.0 figures.
MAR 10: Basic
Stupidty: For some reason there is a delay in 'Sharon Stone'
approving actor Benjamin Bratt to costar. They have given her until
5pm this Wednesday to decide. Who the FUCK is Sharon Stone? Is she
paying for the friggin' film? She is just a mediocre actress at best.
Mario Kassar and Andy Vajna are putting up the dough for this one. Tell
the bitch to shut and do her job. What a load of crap this report is. Man!
MAR 10: Rollerball:
The release of McTiernan's feature remake of Rollerball is now scheduled
for an August 17 release date.
MAR 10: More
Matrix Bits: According to the Hollywood Reporter Daniel Bernardt
and Harold Perrineau have joined the cast of the both sequels of 'Matrix'.
Within the next few weeks production is set to begin filming in
Australia.
MAR 10: Voyager:
Rumor begin abound over what the final two-hour (80 minutes minus
commercials) will bring. The latest being that the first hour of the
finale takes place 20+ years in the future (back in the alpha quadrant)
with Tuvok in an asylum, claiming Janeway is an imposter. (trek today)
Sounds interesting in the least.
MAR 10: All Souls:
The new UPN series will air beginning Tuesday April 17, at 9pm for six
weeks. This is a series that looks like it has potential, depending on
stories and writers.
MAR 10: Special
Unit 2: Another UPN series will make its debut on Wednesday nights
at 8pm beginning April 11 sending 'Seven Days' on Hiatus. Special Unit 2
is a comedy Sci-Fi series, that I doubt will last. Seven Days is
again on the bubble as to whether or not it will return next season. My
fingers are crossed that it does.
MAR
10: Level 9: The series has not
officially been cancelled, and still has four unaired episodes. UPN
Entertainment Prez. Tom Nunan told the Hollywood Reporter that it is
unlikely that the series will be on the fall schedule. Sure hope
Seven Days is on the fall schedule. What an underrated series.
MAR 9: Dark
Angel: Deepspace Nine's Nana Visitor, Major Kira, will be joining
the cast of 'Dark Angel' for the final five episodes of the first season.
She will be playing the role of a Bad person that no one attached to the
series will talk about. No word yet on the series being renewed for a
second season.
MAR
9: Robocop PD: Well, it looks
like we will finally get to see the Mini-series 'Robocop: Prime
Directives' ( a four movie mini-series) in the United States come
this summer. Unfortunately we are getting them on the commercial
heavy, Sci-Fi Channel. The much anticipated 8hr mini-series is
airing in Canada this month. Check out the information I have
in Channel News on
Robocop PD.
MAR 9: New
Trek Update: It appears that Trek creator Brannon Braga may be
bringing over 'Bryan Fuller' ( Voyager co-producer ) from Star Trek:
Voyager to the new Trek series tentatively titled 'Enterprise'. He is
excited at the possibility.
MAR
9: V DVD: You got it! The
mini-series is coming to DVD, finally. It is scheduled for a
possible JULY street date. It should include a gag reel with
interviews and commentary. It is said to be presented in its
original 1.85:1 ratio with Dolby Digital 2.0 sound. ( the
mini-series was originally shot 1.85:1. This is a must buy for the
scifi fan. Price as yet unknown, or if it will be the complete
mini-series, both parts...
MAR 9: Ghost
Rider: Comics Continuum is reporting that comic artist 'Bernie
Wrightson' has contributed some some designs for the feature in
production. Wrightson is working with director Steve Norrington on designs
for the title character. Norrington got his started as an effects guy. He
was one of the effects guys in Cameron's 'Aliens' film.
MAR 9: Black
Knight: The comedy time travel feature starring Martin Lawrence is
being filmed in South Carolina where huge medievil sets have been set up
for the feature. Black Knight has a scheduled release date for an early
2002.
MAR 9: Werewolf: If you remember the show, you might
enjoy checking out the newly refurbished 'Werewolf
TV' Website. It is a great site dedicated to the nearly forgotten and
lost series that co-starred the Rifleman's 'Chuck Connors'. You can
see video and images from the episodes.
MAR 9: Matrix:
For those of us who loved the 'Smith' program in the 'Matrix' film are
excited to know that the the Smith model played so excellently by 'Hugo
Weaving' will return for the two sequel films which begin shooting in
three weeks. This is the set of movies to look forward to, more so than
the two upcoming Star Wars films due out. No offense, but the Matrix was
much better than Episode 1.
MAR 9: Impressive
Tramp: Disney's new release 'Lady and the Tramp 2: Scamps Aventure
has grossed over $50M in less than a week in release on VHS & DVD. It
should break the 1M units sold in just seven days. Impressive! (I still
think Disney sucks)
MAR 9: Indiana
Jones DVD: the Digital Bits is reporting that Japanese Indiana
Jones Trilogy DVD's are being posted on eBay. They seem to be created from
the Laserdisc set. CLICK
HERE for the ebay link. It may or may not work depending on when eBay
catches the post and closes it down. Lucas and Spielberg need to get off
their ass on this one and get the set out on DVD. The quantity
available is 15 sets.
MAR 9: Jack
Ryan: With Harrison Ford stepping down as the legendary Jack Ryan
"The Sum of All Fears", Ben Affleck steps in. Most already knew
about that. But did you know that Margan Freeman has stepped in to play
the new Director of the CIA, Bill Cabot.
MAR 7: Rush
Hour 2 Filming: Filming began today in Las Vegas. I got a
call for a downed slot machine at the Las Vegas Airport Tuesday.
When I arrived there was four semi's parked out front of Terminal 2 and
crapload tech gear in a near parking lot with a catering truck parked to
the side. Once inside they were set-up to film people arriving at the airport. Along
with the supporting actors was Chris Rock, and Jackie Chan. Filming there
lasted most of the day. Later a small red car was seen driving down Las
Vegas Blvd with a camera truck in front filming it. Their likely to
move inside the Old Desert Inn (Dragon Inn) today or Thursday.
MAR 7: Smallville:
Casting is continuing on the new WB Superman series 'Smallville'. Dukes of
Hazzard star John Schneider has signed on to play Clark's Earth father,
Jonathan. Also joining the cast is Urban Legends Michael Rosenblum will
play Clark's young friend Lex Luther. Beginning March 8th production
begins in Vancouver. (cinescape from Superman Fandomain)
MAR 7: Justice
League: The new animated series will feature DC Superheroes 'The
Flash', 'Aquaman', a black 'Green Lantern', 'Wonder Woman', 'Hawkman', and
'Martian Manhunter'.
MAR 7: Lone
Gunmen: The new Fox series pilot 'the Lone Gunmen' scored big
winning it March 4th 9pm time slot. ( the X-Files normal time slot ) Lone
Gunmen will air two more week on Sunday and premiere in its Friday 9pm
time slot on March 16.
MAR 7: Spiderman
Rating: Sam Raimi is aiming to make his Spiderman a PG-13 film. The
movie is being made for the entire family Raimi told the official Marvel
Comics site. The
official Spiderman site gets new content on March 23.
MAR 6: Immortal:
ex-WWF star Rena Moreno will apparently not be doing the long, long
anticipated series Red Sonja, as she will join the cast of Lorenzo Lama's
'The Immortal' for season 2. This is likely to bring in the male
audience each weed, with Moreno being so wonderful on the eyes. This is
NOT a very good series either. It needs something. Likely not to survive
beyond the guaranteed 44 episodes.
MAR 6: Neelix
Leaving?: An SFX source (Trekspy) revealed, if true that Neelix
(Ethan Phillips) won't be getting home (if they do) with Voyager. Their
source is reporting that in the episode in which Voyager finds a planet of
Talaxians that Neelix will be staying behind with them. Is it true... time
will tell.
MAR 6: Enterprise: Dark
Horizons website reporting that that new Star Trek Series will be
simply titled... 'Enterprise'.
MAR 6: Babylon
5: Doing a new series based in the Babylon 5 world may not be a bad
idea as the repeats in letterbox running on the Sci-Fi Channel are
continuing to score ratings similar to their first run series. Only
Farscape is beating 'Babylon 5' in their ratings.
MAR 6: Halloween
8: Entertainment Tonight (& dark horizons) are confirming that
Jamie Lee Curtis will be making just the cameo per her contract. They were
trying at one time to talk Curtis into expanding her role in the 8th film.
MAR 6: Tomb
Raider Poster: Dark Horizons was sent the teaser poster from the
new 'Tomb Raider' film. Cruise over and check it out if you haven't seen
it yet. Looks good.
MAR 6: New
VCD's: Added some new VideoCD covers to the new area. Added 'Knight
Rider', 'Amazon' and 'Seven Days'. Fronts and backs on all three. VideoCD
Area
MAR 6: Crusade:
The Babylon 5 spin-off series that was screwed up by TNT will be airing on
Monday, April 9th on the Sci-Fi Channel. The series will air Monday thru
Thursday @ 8pm. If you want to see the letterbox version of this series
you best watch the Pan and Scan version first. If the ratings are high
enough, the station will then perhaps air the letterbox versions. Crusade
ran for 13 episodes on TNT and was cancelled before the first episode was
broadcast.
MAR 6: Saturday
Night Prime: March 5 is the final Monday Night Prime... March 24
will mark the new Saturday Night Prime line-up with 'First Wave', 'the
Secret Adventures of Jules Verne', and 'Black Scorpion'.
MAR 6: Invisible
Man: The final two-parter of season 1 for the series will air the
first part March 23, and part two March 30, and leap into season three the
following Friday night. This gives 'the Invisible Man' 22 episodes plus
the two-hour pilot movie (24 eps in all).
MAR 5: Basic
Instinct 2: It is still uncertain whether the Kassar/Vajna picture
will get made. John McTeirnan is on board to direct the $70M picture. If
Benjamin Bratt backs out from the leading man role the picture will likely
be scrapped. Coming out of the budget would be Sharon Stones $12M and
McTiernan's $7M salaries. Now we are down to a $51M film.
MAR 5: Witchblade
Premiere: The new 11 episode series will premiere on TNT in June.
TNT will air the new limited edition series between repeat episodes its
'Law & Order' series. The Witchblade pilot scored a 4.5 rating last
year, and was the highest rated TV Movie for the 14 to 49 bracket than any
other movie in 2000.
MAR 5: VCD
Area: My new VideoCD area is up and running. The number of titles
is limited at this time but will be growing as the VHS Label and Cover
Sheets did. Hope you enjoy them. 'CLICK HERE'.
Approx. 12 covers are in posted (front and backs)
MAR 5: Cruising
With Power: Mega-actor Tom Cruise (mission impossible & Days of
Thunder) is number 13 in wealth but rated as the most powerful man in
Hollywood and appeared on 11 magazine covers and 139,000 web hits. Julia
Roberts fell from number one last year to number sixteen in 2000.
MAR 5: New
Writer: Ben Affleck & Matt Damon have selected a new writer in
their contest at liveplanet.com. Unknown writer-director Pete Jones was
selected this past Thursday in the screenwriters contest. His screenplay
was selected out of 173,000 entries. Jones will have one million dollars
to make his film which will be distributed by Miramax Films. Miramax
TV will document the film making process which begins this week. HBO will
air the mini-feature in 2002.
MAR 5: Rush
Hour 2 Vegas: There are new images taken yesterday of the near
completed 'Desert Inn' Conversion for the new Rush Hour 2 feature. Jackie
Chan and Chris Tucker are staying at the 'Venetian' Hotel &
Casino. Filming seems set for this coming week. 'CLICK
HERE'
MAR 5: Greene
Gone: Leading man Anthony Edwards (top gun) will leave the number 1
rated shows when his contract end after next season after 8 years. Like
almost every other actor he has his own production studio and plans to
operate behind the camera for awhile. ( I know this isn't sci-fi, but it
is a great show that endures its leading actors leaving the show)
MAR 5: Blue
Man Group: While I thought they were actually just three guys
performing in Las Vegas, they are actually a 33 (1 is a woman) man
company, 'Blue Man Group Productions, which operates on a $28M budget
doing shows from Boston to Las Vegas. They have failed to sell out a show
despite their recent added advertising through Intel Commercials and
appearing at the Grammy's.
MAR 4: Exit
Wounds: Just previewed the Making of... Exit Wounds on HBO. What I
saw made me want to see the film and Seagal looks great for the film.
Definitely getting older, but physically he looks good. If the fans give
Seagal and Joel Silver a chance this will be a money maker. The action
looks hot!!! I'll go see this one.
MAR 4: CSI:
Crime Scene Investigation known on television as series 'CSI' is the hit
of the 2000/2001 season currently ranked fourth in the top ten was the
last series picked up for the fall season. CSI creator Anthony
Zuiker and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are pleasantly surprised at the
series success. The series was in the top 15 to 20 series before moving to
Thursday behind 'Survivor' where the series reached more viewers and
jumped to number 4 in the ratings. CSI is a great quality show, and an
updated 'Quincy'. And hey... it's filmed in Las Vegas!
MAR 4: Multi-players
Gaming: While you may have dozens of .com companies falling by the
waste-side due to poor business strategy the sub-genre video online gaming
industry is raking in the millions. Sony's Everquest, its leading title,
has generated over $30M from subscription fees in 2000. ( Over $60M from
fees and CD Rom sales on just EverQuest.) They are on a pace to surpass
$40M this year. Online gaming sucked up just $211M in 2000 and should hit
$770M by 2003. (Inside.com)
MAR 4: Hannibal
Eaten: Hannibal gotten eaten up by Superstar Julia Roberts new
feature 'The Mexican' as the film grossed $6.5M Friday and is expected to
take in around $22M over the weekend.
MAR 4: Matrix:
Keannu Reeves told Entertainment Weekly that he has read both scripts and
they're fantastic. (he obviously read 'the Replacements'. Was it
fantastic?) He also told EW that filming is due to begin late March in
Oakland, California. The first film has many one on one battles,
while these will have multi-battles going on, which means a lot more wire
work for the sequels. Not including the strike filming of the sequels is
scheduled to shoot in 200 days. (scifi.com)
MAR 4: Video
CD Covers: I have started working on the VCD covers and have a few
done (fronts only). Not quite ready to start passing them on yet, but we
are getting close. Keep checking if your into that. Got all the folders
and html pages ready. We are close. Video CD Covers will be for
television series and special edition features.
MAR 4: WETA
Whistle: Some can whistle while they work, but WETA Digital doesn't
even have time for that as they have kicked it into high gear as they work
to pump out the digital effects for Peter Jackson's 'Lord of the
Rings' trilogy. Even miniatures of the sets have to be built for the
digital work that needs to be done. These guys are working hard to meet
schedules and deadlines for effects.
MAR 4: Different
Kim: Does anyone, other than myself, remember that Ensign
Harry Kim isn't the original Kim that went into the Alpha Quadrant with
the crew? Neither is Naomi Wilder. Kim & Naomi came from an alternate
reality. Not to alternate since everything with Kim is that same as his
other self. Stupid screw up by the writers and producers of the show. A
few decent side stories were missed on this fubar.
MAR 4: Voyager:
We already know that if Voyager is going to get home, it won't be til the
two-hour season finale. But now they are filming the finale and have this
super security thing going on. Who the hell cares now! We aren't going to
see them deal with getting home or how Seven deal with it, or Neelix for
that matter. The actors are getting the scenes as they shoot them because
they don't want anyone to know. With our luck, the last seen of the
season finale will show them break back into the alpha quadrant and get
hailed as the show fades to black. What a screw job the fans got with this
series. The finale airs in May.
MAR 3: Conan
3: John Milius is now working on the new script tentatively called
'King Conan: Crown of Iron' feature. For some reason Milius wants
Swartzenegger to return in the lead role. (ign-filmforce)
MAR 3: Cleopatra
2525: The USA Network has just finally said the heck with it, and
pulled the plug on Cleopatra 2525. The show was originally scheduled to
expand to one hour and replace the soon departing Xena, Warrior Princess.
With all the statements coming from USA about the cancellation, it comes
down to the fact that with the TV marketing environment for hour shows
today it isn't financially viable as it was just a few years ago. They want to follow the dual platform production model they developed for
the 'Invisible Man' series. (hollywood reporter)
MAR 3: Writers
Strike: According to the Hollywood Reporter, if possible the
writers strike possibility has gotten worse as the Writers Guild walked
away from the table. Work stoppage folks, just like the baseball players
(and their union) and the owners did to the fans. It's the fans/viewers
who lose out. No one else.
MAR 3: SFX
Closing: The Britain website 'SFX Network is closing. Site owner,
Future Publishing says "The decision has been made as part of a
worldwide rationalization to improve profitability." This is due to a
world wide changes in the companies structure. Despite raves from the
company over the website, it isn't very unique or interesting to visit.
Right now they have a stupid planet that tracks across the bottom of the
browser. It isn't neat, it's annoying. It is terrible to see another
big name site close down. Recently Mothership announced its merger with
scifi.com. (same owner so it did make since). Future has 20 magazines that
are losing money out of their total portfolio of 134 mags. Big genre
sites are dwindling.
MAR 3: Dark
Angel: The Feb 25th broadcast of Fox's 'Dark Angel' jumped in the
ratings in a 7.1 share. In the genre only the X-Files scored better with
an 8.2. There is still no word on the fate of the first year series from
James Cameron. The ratings in the 6's for most of the year may be
high enough versus the cost of the creating the show each week.
MAR 3: Mummy
Trailer: The new Mummy Returns trailer is
online. You can check it out at... THE
MUMMY.
MAR 3: Kindred
DVD: The short-lived vampire series that really started it all is
now available on DVD. SRP for the seven episode series has a SRP of
$29.95.
MAR 3: Scorpion
King: The Rocks, Dwayne Johnson, website has some tid-bits about
his in work 'Scorpion King' feature. The picture will take place
about five to ten years before he becomes the Scorpion King when is an
akkadian assassin. As an assassin he was ordered to kill a sorcerer. And
the Rock won't give out anymore details, though he did mention that they
are currently negotiating with Chow Yun-Fat for a role in the film.
MAR 3: Scooby
Dumb: Coming Soon has posted some photos from the filming of the
feature film 'Scooby Doo'. And if you saw them you would not believe that
Sarah Michelle Gellar would step in to a STUPID picture like this. It
looks like something from 'That 70's Show'. I would pay for rental to see
this thing. Why not just make an animated feature film. It looks horrible!
MAR 3: Hannibal
Mini-Series: CBS has agreed to terms with director Ridley
Scott to broadcast 'Hannibal' in 2003. The film when shown on television
will include an additional one-hour of unseen footage. CBS will turn the
movie into a two-part mini-series. CBS paid $18M for the exclusive first
run rights while USA-TV paid another $14M for subsequent runs of this
version. It is unknown whether or not the film will be released this way
to video/dvd or not.
MAR 3: Star
Trek DVD: the Digital Bits has confirmed rumors that Star Treks
Voyager, Deepspace Nine and Next Generation are scheduled for late this
year. Voyager and DS9 are likely to be ahead of the Next Generation.
Nothing is known about extras, or features of the discs or how many per
disc. HELLO people!!! If they don't release seasonal boxed sets, PLEASE
don't buy any of them. Paramount needs to learn something from Fox
(X-Files), the WB (Buffy) and HBO (Sex and the City & Sapranos). If
you buy these disc without boxed sets we will never see them from
Paramount.
MAR 3: Video
CD Covers: I hope to be adding Video CD (VCD) covers for television
series to the site soon. Keep watching the site if your into that.
MAR 1: Five More
Please: James Cameron's 'Lightstorm
Entertainment' has renewed its deal with 20th Century Fox for another 5
years. Cameron has been with Fox since he did Aliens in 1985, and has been
very happy with them.
MAR
1: BloodQuest: The CGI feature
based on Games Workshop's 'Warhammer 40K' is being done by Exile
Films. Yesterdays demise of Exile Films was premature. It was
another Exile Films that went under. The project though taking
forever is still continuing. It is my bet the film will likely be a
direct to video feature. Exile
Films has images from the work being done up on their site.
MAR 1: the
Coffin: One of the projects slated for Fox
from Lightstorm is 'The Coffin'. It will be helmed by 'Blade 2' director
Guillermo Del Toro. It is based on the comic book series by Phil Hestor
and Mike Huddleston.
MAR
1: Hulkster: The Incredible
Hulk, if director Ang Lee and producer James Schamus get their wish,
will be totally CG. They believe they can create an interesting, yet
realistic monster no one has seen before. The rest of the film will
of course be live act
MAR 1: Mike Myers @
25: If you can believe it, Mike Myers is in negotiations to do 'Austin
Powers 3'. Myers wants $25M in advance against 21% of the gross
profit. Who the hell is Mike Myers to be worth that much? What has
this guy done in his career to earn that kind of money? Two Austin Powers
flicks, and only one of them was successful. Gimmee a break will ya. The
dude ain't a Harrison Ford.
