30: Ratings Drop: The audience
for both Smallville & Enterprise are beginnnig to take a dip as
both series ratings have fallen below five. Enterprise came in for the
week of 11/4 with a 4.9, and Smallville a 4.4 rating. Dark Angel
scored a 4.5 rating - what is has been hitting most of the season.
Last year the series stayed in the mid to low six range. Fans
obviously aren't so happy with the changes in the series.
Nov
30: ABC Gets Stupid: ABC has
purchased the network broadcast rights to 'Harry Potter, and the
Sorcerers Stone' and its sequel for a mere $130M. They do however have
exclusive non-pay rights for 10 years on each film. The first film
should break the $200M market this weekend in North America alone. The
deal includes airing the films on ABC affiliates, the ABC family and
the Disney Channel.
Nov
30: Special Unit 2: The second
season of SU2 has been maintaining its ratings near 3 for the entire
season so far, keeping it right on the heels of 'Angel' and 'Charmed'
(which has lost nearly a point since this season started).
Nov
30: New Covers: Hey, the sites
on a role. Got four new covers put up today. Got a new 'Miami
Vice' cover along with a much nicer 'Beauty and the Beast' cover to
replace the older cover currently on site plus a Mann & Machine
cover and Outer Limits one too. "CLICK HERE"
for the VHS Cover Sheet Area.
Nov
30: Cradle to the Grave: Director
Andrzej Bartkowiak wants action star Arnold Swartzenegger to costar in
his film 'Cradle to the Grave' with rapper DMX (exit wounds). Grave
will be a hip hop remake of the 1931 German Classic 'M'. DMX would
take on the role of a crime lord helping the police. There is no word
on what role Arny would play in the film. DMX helped boost the career
of Steven Seagal in 'Exit Wounds' from producer Joel Silver.
Nov
30: Static: Sony has plunked
down some chump change, about $575,000 for the Brad Ganns spec script
that mixes 'the Warriors' & 'the Guantlet'. The feature will
center on the imprisoned leader of Los Angeles' toughest street gang
who, under the protection of his gang, must battle corrupt cops and
rival gangs on his way across town to testify against the cops who
wrongly convicted him. ( moviehole.net)
Nov
30: Collateral Trailer:
Arnolds new picture, 'Collateral Damage', due out in February now has
a new trailer out for the film. Be watching for it.
Nov
30: Invincible: Anyone take
the time to watch the TBS, Mel Gibson/Jet Li telefilm? I thought the
telefilm was horrible. It was mostly action scenes with bad acting and
a below average soundtrack. I had been looking forward to this piece
of... work. There is no way - the way it is - that it will be picked
up as a series. Even the acting by bald Billy Zane was below his norm.
Nov
30: Epoch: The Sci-Fi Channel
original film 'Epoch' scored well in its premiere Nov 24th with a 2.3
rating. This likely means the SFC will dump the film to DVD at some
point. Epoch starred Ryan O'Neal, and David Keith as they battle alien
weapon threatening the existence of Earth. (scifi wire)
Nov
30: Star Wars Fans Screwed Again:
Once again Star Wars fans get the shaft as 'Lucas Online &
Homestead' will dump Star Wars fan sites from its fan.starwars.com
site claiming changes to the online hosting marketplace. Fans though
will suck it up, and return to Lucas fandom. They always do. If
you are planning to move your site to a new host, make darn sure you
comply with the terms of service.
Nov
30: Video CD gets cheaper:
Want to record your stuff to Video CD? Well, it's gotten cheaper with
Terapin dropping the price from $499 down to $389 through the AV
Store. Visit their website by
CLICKING HERE or call their toll free number at 1-888-748-9675. If
you visit the site just type in 'Terapin'. (thanks to Jewel for
passing the information along)
Nov
28: Enterprise Cover: I have
added four new covers today for download. The new 'Enterprise',
'Justice League' (the animated series), Roger Corman's 'Fantastic
Four', and 'the Chronicle'. Enjoy. CLICK
HERE for the VHS Cover Sheet area. Also recently added to the area
were 'Batman Beyond' and 'Seaquest'. There are over 100 VHS Cover
Sheets on site, and 355+ VHS side and top labels for your favorite
series.
Nov
28: Riverworld: The Sci-Fi
Channel original telefilm 'Riverworld' has begun filming in New
Zealand. The telefilm based on the novels by Philip Jose' Farmer, is
hoped to be a pilot for a Sci-Fi Channel series. Riverworld
stars, Bard Johnson, Emily Lloyd, and Cameron Daddo. It is due land of
the SFC mid 2003 and is being coproduced with Alliance Atlantis,
Tasman Films and Box TV. (scifi wire)
Nov
28: Batman A Go: Warner Bros.
has decided to go a head with one of their Batman projects rather than
another few years. the WB has greenlit 'Batman: Year One' from Darren
Aronofsky after having some meetings with him. Work is to be started
right away in hopes of an early 2003 release. Yes, there will be
a toy line from all this too. (moviehole.net) Next question... who
will wear the mask.
Nov
28: the Hulk: Along with
Jennifer Connelly comes word that Nick Nolte has signed on to the
project as well. He will play General Ross in the film.
Nov
28: Stargate SG-1: The Sixth
and final season of 'Stargate SG-1' is scheduled to begin the last
Friday of June. The start date coensides with Farscapes season four
premiere. (Thanks to Ron Wolfe)
Nov
28: More SG-1 Stuff: A series of
four CD Rom discs will be available this week when Serious USA, Inc
releases its first set of Stargate SG-1 'CD Cardz'. The collectible
discs retail at $19.95 each, and include screensavers, production
stills, sound effects, and behind the scenes featurettes. They
will/are compatible with Windows, and mac. The release date was set
for November 22. (thanks to Ron Wolfe)
Nov
28: Hogan's Heroes: I
mentioned this one going into development earlier this month. It is
getting the star treatment now with Russell Crowe, Brian Grazer, and
Revolution Pictures. Crowe will take on the role of Colonel Robert
Hogan, originally played by Bob Crane. Now this one, could be a great
action comedy.
Nov
28: A Berry Bond Girl: Looks
like X-Men's Halle Berry will be the next Bond Girl, according to
People News.
Nov
28: Cover Sheet Update: I have
pulled 8 covers from the VHS Cover Sheet Area. Another 6 to 8 new
covers will be going up this week and next. One of the Farscape and
Magnum PI covers were removed along with two of the three older
X-Files covers. One Dark Angel, the Dune mini-series, and one Dune
cover were taken down.
Nov
28: Relic Hunter Set: Any fans
expecting the season one boxed set of 'Relic Hunter' will be waiting a
long time. Due to... unforeseen circumstances the set will not be
happening. Likely a lack of interest. The series is not doing that
well in its third season. Advertising for the series this season is
non-existent.
Nov
27: Thieves Cancelled: The
John Stamos & Melissa George series about two thieves forced to
work together is halting production of its last three ordered
episodes. 8 episodes have been aired with 2 more in the can. Thieves
ratings have dipped below three despite having a nice lead in
series.
Nov
27: Rutger Hauer: The 80's big
screen star, now in his 50's will step up from his slew of 'B' films
for two higher profile Miramax produced features. First up Hauer will
join the cast of George Clooney's directorial debut (and he stars in
it) as an East German hitman. He joins Drew Barrymore and Julia
Roberts. Then Hauer will step into the cape and fangs for the lead
role in the Dracula 2000 sequel 'Dracual Resurrected'. (zap2it)
Nov
27: Gadget 2: Disney is
considering the possibility of releasing its 'Inspector Gadget 2'
sequel at theatres rather than direct to video. The first feature was
a mega-flop at theatres.
Nov
27: Black Hawk $$$: It will
take a lot for the film to make profit, as Ridley Scott's latest film
was budgeted at $200M. Co-star Eric Bana promises fans that they will
see ever dollar in the film. (moviehole.com)
Nov
27: Female HULK: Dark City's
Jennifer Connnelly has landed the female lead in the Hulk. She will
play 'Betty Ross', the lead interest and female colleague of the mild
mannered Bruce Banner. (zap2it)
Nov
27: Bond 20 Rumor: Another
Bond Girl is being rumored in 'Selma Hayek' stepping into one of the
female roles in the film. Dang, hire someone already. Filming begin in
January and reportedly they haven't decided on a storyline yet, which
means a script isn't even ready.
Nov
27: Potter Bootlegs: They are
out on VCD and so is the heat looking for the fools selling them. Asia
is apparently the largest supplier, but a Taiwan bootlegger was caught
with over 100,000 copies of the film. Other copyright infringers
include, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Video traders had better watch their
butts even messing with this film.
Nov
27: Update Problem: Sorry for
the lack of update yesterday. Couldn't get the ftp software to work.
Working now though.
Nov
27: Area 23: the new series
'Area 23' currently in development from 'Mindshadow Entertainment' and
Will Crawford is moving forward again as they move into their new .com
at www.area23movie.com The new series will star familiar sci-fi faces, which includes
Farscape's 'Virginia Hey'. Look! effects, who do the Witchblade
effects, will handle the series SFX material. The script is complete
from Will Crawford, and the entire package being put together for the
bank loan includes a soundtrack for the music to be used in the
telefilm. Unlike standard sci-fi fare, Area 23 will be more conspiracy
based with lots of military high-octane action. Mindshadow is
working the 'package' similar to the way Roger Corman marketed his
'Black Scorpion' series to the Sci-Fi Channel. (thanks to Will
Crawford of Mindshadow Entertainment for the email.)
Nov
27: Invisible Man: The Perseus Project has gotten a very comedic script for the
Invisible Man from the mult-talented Mike McCafferty. It would have
made a great episode. CLICK
HERE to check out a special edition of the Perseus Project
Dispatch. (Thanks Joan for the info) Make sure you check out the
script.
Nov
27: More Covers Coming: I now have
two people supplying SciFi 2000 with series vhs covers in Colby Deitz and Josh Hadley. Coming soon will be 'Enterprise',
a new 'First Wave', 'Earth Final Conflict','Witchblade', 'Conan, the
serie', 'Fantastic Four rare movie', 'Tracker', 'UC: Undercover', 'Thundercats'
and 'the Justice League'
animated series.
Nov
27: Galactica Work Continues:
The project might have been pulled by USA Studios & Fox, but
producer Tom DeSanto continues to work hard on the project. Chris
Gilman's 'Global Effects' have come up with 6-foot-8-inch Cylon and
will cast a set of armor this week. The Cylons will be stunt men in
costumes and cgi will only be used when a superhuman battle will be
needed.
Nov 25:
Lethal Weapon 5: Richard Donner told
E online that there are NO plans for a Lethal Weapon 5, though he
would love to work with Mel Gibson again.
Nov 25:
The Punisher: Moviehole has a scoop
that a Punisher movie is in the works based on the Marvel Comics
character. Apparently three writers have been asked to come up with
work treatments for the possible film. They are wanting a more
low-budget gritty feel than the other Marvel projects currently in
work. The film 'the Punisher' starring Dolph Lungren was a well
done film. I bought the DVD of it. Excellent! Very action packed
film.
Nov 25:
DC Comics?: Other than the same ol
Superman and Spiderman crap, where the hell are the other DC Comic
character features? I am not a huge DC fan, but the Flash, Aquaman,
and Green Lantern deserve film treatments. They are great characters
too, among many others. Why not a Justice League live action film and
branch the characters off from there?
Nov 25:
Terminator 3: Three companies are now
vying for the distribution rights to the film. Two of the three
include Universal and Sony. Still no word on who is up for the
other terminator roles in the film. Vin Diesel seems unlikely with the
projects he has lined up.
Nov 25:
Starsky & Hutch: Still not sure
if this film is a comedy or action picture with Ben Stiller attached
to play Starsky. However, word comes that Stiller would like to have
Snoop Dogg play the part of Huggy Bear.
Nov 25:
Retro TV: Well, another detective
series is in consideration for a feature film. This time it's the P.I.
series 'Simon & Simon' about two very different brothers working
together in their own P.I. firm. Movie Headlines.com is
reporting that Billy Bob Thornton is considering doing a feature based
on the series. Billy Bob would play the part of Rick Simon, and he
would like to have Brad Pitt or Kurt Russell take on the part of A.J.
Simon, the flashy dressing ladies man.
Nov
24: SeaQuest Covered: A SeaQuest Cover Sheet has joined the rest
of the cover sheets. SeaQuest joins the most recent shows, The Agency,
24, Lost World, Mutant X, Boston Public, Batman Beyond, and even a new
farscape. There are over 108 VHS Cover Sheets
on site, 85+ VideoCD/DVD covers, bottoms, and CDR Labels. Want a VHS side label? There are 355+
VHS Side Labels for download too. Check them all out.
Nov
23: Andromeda Trouble: AICN
reports that co-creator Robert Hewitt Wolfe is no longer involved
involved with the series. Nor is he the head writer for the series.
Executive Producer and star Kevin Sorbo was glad to see him go. Sorbo
complained that the stories were too complicated and clever for
everyone else to understand. Supposedly there are no hard feelings.
Tribune, Fireworks, and Sorbo wanted more episodic series, and not so
much backstory. An opportunity to create small story arcs, with more
action and Sorbo out of uniform and into civvies.
Nov
23: Xena Gets Knocked: Ex-Xena
star won't be doing any action roles for a while. Lucy Lawless is
pregnant with her second child with husband, creator of Xena, Robert
Tapert. Lucy's first child, with her first husband is 13.
Nov
23: Goonies 2: The only
original cast member returning for the sequel will be Sean Astin, Cory
Feldman, Josh Brolin, and Martha Plimpkin. The actors who played
'Chunk' and 'Data' will not be returning. Richard Donner has agreed to
direct the sequel which looks headed for a 2003 release. (moviehole
from countingdown.com.
Nov
23: Dark Angel Trouble: Second
year series 'Dark Angel' looks to be on its way out. The latest new
episode scored a whopping 4.4 rating. Down almost 2 points from last
season. Fans obviously do not like the story changes put in this
year.
Nov
23: Who's Next: Personally I
hate to see any genre series cancelled. But this season many
shows are already suffering. The X-Files ratings are down, Roswell
is in trouble. The new series 'Tracker' starring Adrian Paul
has such a horrible time slot you don't even know it is on. Sheena is
absolutely... bad. Beastmaster isn't much better. Relic Hunter has
become a stagnant series as well. The Lost World seems very solid this
season, and
everyone know that Andromeda and Mutant X are tearing up the syndie
ratings. Special Unit 2 and the Chronicles are hitting their strides
this season as Smallville and Enterprise are the two very surprising
series this season as both are maintaining high ratings for their
respective networks. Even Angel has proven a solid series without
Buffy as its lead-in. But syndication series really are struggling
this season. Time slots and poor writing seem to be the main reasons
for their decline. Next season, we will see less new series. We've
already lost the Invisible Man, as well as L.E.X.X. for next season.
Which series are going to fall? I doubt Sheena will get the full order
for the rest of this season. Relic Hunter was nearly cancelled before
the season began. The Immortal? This one was so crappy in its first
season that the guaranteed second season has yet to begin
airing. The writing for syndie series is just horrible - and no one wants to
bring in fresh meat with fresh ideas. With some of the crap on today
you miss the antics of Xena and Hercules.
Nov
23: Blade 2: Word has it that
New Line is extremely happy with what they have seen of Blade 2. They
are planning to give the movie the push in advertising it deserves.
Even Playstation and XBox will be giving the film the game treatment
from Activision, which is slated to hit stores in early 2002.
Nov
23: Batman Beyond: Have you
been recording the series for your collection? Then download the VHS
Cover Sheet for Batman Beyond. It was just added to the site today.
CLICK HERE for the VHS Cover Sheet Area. Other cover sheets
for great new series have been added recently. Make sure you locate
the cover you need.
Nov
23: Smallville: Finally got to
watch the first episode of the new series, 'Smallville'. I was
impressed with the show. It is a quality addition for the WB.
Very character driven series rather than SFX enhanced. If you watch
the series you can see why the shows ratings are in the mid 5's. A
definite watch.
Nov
23: Sci-Fi Store: The sites
collectible area has been revamped with a new look and new
collectibles. Check out the new Sci-Fi
2000 Store. The area is still getting some work done with photo,
pricing and adding new material, but it is up and working.
Enjoy.
Nov
23: Beauty & the Beast: I
mentioned earlier in the week that UPN was working on bringing back the
series 'Beauty and the Beast'. The biggest problem facing the series is
one, stories to tell on a weekly basis and two, can they capture the magic that
Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman brought to the show. Having Vincent come to
Catherine's rescue every week got old after a while. Will they bring any of the
original cast members back to the series? How drastic will the storyline
change? To bad networks have
yet figured out how to take a limited style series and turn it into a
monthly series of two hour telefilms. You only need about 8 quality
stories per year to tell in a telefilm format. It's equivalent to 16
episodes. Each telefilm could be budgeted in the $2M to $2.5M range
leading to better actors and high quality effects. TV Series
essentially do it already with the two-part episodes.
Nov
22: Happy Thanksgiving!: I
wanted to wish all of you a very happy Thanksgiving Holiday. And..
YES! there is an update for you today. It isn't much, but there is
some news. I have also updated the collectible area into a new Store
with a new look. Feel free to check it out.
Nov
22: Mad Max 4: Mel Gibson
isn't on board but the script is complete, and not to be shot in
Australia. The film needs long stretches of desert area where the cars
will not get bogged down. Production is scheduled to begin in 2002. (
moviehole.com )
Nov
22: Roswell: Despite all the
hoopla by UPN and the extra stuff being done like having fans on the
sets and so forth, the series is in trouble. The series continue to do
horrible in the ratings this season despite having Buffy as a lead in
series. Fans just aren't showing up for the series.
Nov
22: Andromeda Reins Again!:
For the week of 10/29 Andromeda moved into the top spot edging out it
sister series 'Mutant X'. Andromeda scored a 3.3 and Mutant X a 3.0.
Stargate SG-1 fell from first to a second place tie at 3.0.
Nov
22: Green Hornet: Miramax
Films has acquired the rights to the 'Green Hornet'.
Nov
22: No Spawn In Spawn?:
According to Todd McFarlane, Spawn may not even appear in the action
sequel being worked on. McFarlane told Starlog Magazine that the film
will star police detectives, Sam and Twitch. Spawn might be just a
presence in the film. This will NOT be a superhero film.
Nov
21: Terminator 3: The script
is ready and Arnold is hot to get started according to Variety. What
is really amazing... the budget for the film being $160M. And knowing
how things work that same budget could balloon to over $210M easy
based just on the types of SFX ( ILM ) that will be used in the film.
It looks like production could happen as early as Spring or Summer
2002.
Nov
21: Fast But No Diesel: Universal
had no idea that the $38M 'Fast and the Furious' film would gross
$144.5M. So much so, that they didn't have a sequel clause built in to
the contract for Vin Diesel. With Diesel chugging along at $2.5M for
'El Diablo', an impressive $12.5M for 'Pitch Black 2', and another
$10M for 'XXX', the chances of getting the actor to return to a sequel
for chump change isn't likely. Universal has contracted for two
scripts to be done. One with the Diesel's character returning and
another without him. But when does an actor say... "I've got
enough money, lets do some great projects for less money." They
never will. (Zap2It)
Nov
21: Scoring With Justice:
Cartoon Network scored huge with its new animated series, 'Justice
League'. The ratings for the new series were its highest ever. Over
four million viewers tuned in for the 90 minute premiere pilot.
Justice League airs Monday's at 9:30pm.
Nov
21: Bad Boys 2: Michael Bay
has put the offer on the table for Will Smith to rejoin him and Martin
Lawrence in 'Bad Boys 2'. Smith is nearly complete with 'Men In Black
2', but has another offers= that
might interest the actor more. This one is Juror 2 in the upcoming
Grisham project 'Runaway Jury'. Smith has the potential to become a
great action star should he choose too. Movies like 'Bagger Vance'
while good will NOT get the actor there.
Nov
20: Willard: James Wong is
producing the Glenn Morgan remake of Willard. Wong has told the Sci-Fi
Wire that Willard will be getting a liberal update. Wong recently
helmed 'the One', and Morgan makes his directorial debut in this one.
They are still working on getting the budget set for the film.
"With today's technology this version will be creepier and
scarier," says Wong.
Nov
20: EPOCH: The Sci-Fi Channel
premiere of 'Epoch' happens Nov 24 at 9pm. The telefilm will star Ryan
O'Neal and David Keith. Epoch tells the story of a mysterious
structure that suddenly appears during a massive electrical storm,
which blankets the Earth with a huge shock wave. They must discover
the mystery of the structure before all the human life on earth
vanishes.
Nov
20: Chrome: The new
images for Timothy Hines 'Chrome' are up on the site. Check out the Chrome
area to see the new pictures. Enjoy.
Nov
20: Nemesis: Jerry Goldsmith
has been signed to compose the music for the latest Star Trek film,
'Nemesis'. Goldsmith now will have scored 5 of the 10 films in the
franchise. The budget for the film is about $80M with a huge chunk of
that going to planned special effects for the film. Hard to believe
that 'Insurrections' budget was nearly $60M. Wonder what they spent it
on! ( 13th street )
Nov
20: Iron Fist: The latest
draft of the upcoming film 'Iron Fist' based on the Marvel comics has
been turned in by screenwriter John Turman. Ray Park (Toad in X-Men)
will star in the film.
Nov
20: Mothman Prophecies: Screen Gems has launched the official website for the
Richard Gere film 'Mothman Prophecies'. You can check out the new site
at " http://www.themothmanlives.com
"
Nov
20: No Galactica: At least not
at Fox. With Bryan Singer pulling out of the project, so has Fox.
Without the X-Men director attached, Fox feels the project has little
value.
Nov
20: Invisible Man: Zap2It.com
is actually running a small article on the cancellation of the
Invisible Man. You can head over there if you would like to read the
article. It is under 'Today in TV'.
Nov
19: Chrome: The new Timothy
Hines & Susan Goforth independent film 'Chrome' is slated to begin
production on November 29th. I have some new images from the
production as well as images of lead actress Katie Tomlinson and
producer Susan Goforth working out for the production.
Nov
19: Aliens vs Predator: According
to Fox, rumors that Pitch Black's David Twohy is attached to a
possible 'Aliens vs Predator' film may not be true. Twohy would write
and direct the feature film from Fox Entertainment and Davis
Entertainment. No deal is set in place but Twohy is interested. (movie
headlines)
Nov
19: Beauty & the Beast Return?:
UPN is considering a new version of the 80's series 'Beauty
and the Beast' which starred Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton.
Original producers Tony Thomas and Paul Junger Witt are believed to be
attached to the series remake.
Nov
19: Black Star: A new series
from Trilogy is being developed by UPN. The series would be a
top gun in space storyline style show.
Nov
19: Blair Sculptures: A great
website 'Blair Sculptures'
was featured on the main page a few months ago and is linked in the
great links area has some wonderful original one of a kind genre
sculptures. Blair has a great Arnold Swartzenegger sculp. Check out
his website. Some wonderful additions have been added to the site.
Blair is currently designing a unique award for a favorite horror
magazine.
Nov
19: Phantom of the Opera: With
Catherine Zeta Jones backing out as the female lead, Kate Winslet is
now being considered for the role. (dark horizons)
Nov
19: Ron Perlman gets Ticked:
Actor Ron Perlman of Blade 2 and the live action series 'Beauty
& the Beast' will be appearing in an upcoming episode of Fox's
'The Tick' on Dec. 5th. (moviehole.com)
Nov
19: Bond 20: Production is
slated to begin on January 13th.
Nov
19: Sliders Movie?: Apparently
only ex-series star Jerry O'Connell is interested in a film based on
the series. Representatives from Studios USA have little to no
interest in such a project.
Nov
19: New Wong Series: James
Wong and Glenn Morgan (Space: Above & Beyond) are pitching a new
Sci-Fi TV series to NBC based on a novel coming out by one time
scientist Gentry Lee. It follows a 22nd-century historian's look back
at the 21st century and a family living through that time period
Nov
19: Star Wars Returns... Again:
After George Lucas releases 'Episode 3' to theatres once again amazing
George will re-re-release Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and Return
of the Jedi to the theatres. Lucas still attempting to suck up the
cash from his work, before they hit DVD.
Nov
19: Great Links update: Found
two dead links and one now leading to an adult site. These will be
removed hopefully in the next update. I hope to find some more great
sites to take their place.
Nov
18: Spy Game: Robert Redford
& Brad Pitt star in Spy Game. That should be enough information
for movie goers to stay clear. Neither actor has done worthwhile film
in a while. Save you money and see Harry Potter, again.
Nov
18: Potter Dollars: I would
say the film made a few bucks over the three day opening. It is
expected that the film will make an incredible $93.5M. Harry cost
Warner Bros. $125M to make and they spent another $42M in advertising
just in the North America alone.
Nov
18: Invincible Tonight: TBS'
telefilm/pilot movie 'Invincible' starring Billy Zane premieres
tonight at 8pm. Get the VCR's warmed and the tape ready.
Nov
17: All Star Trek Chat: TNN
& AOL have teamed up for an 'Ultimate Star Trek Chat Marathon', in
order to promote an after Thanksgiving Day 'Star Trek: the Next
Generation' marathon on TNN. The Chat event will take place 'Monday
Nov. 19th' and be hosted online by Patrick Stewart and feature cast
members from the original series and the three spin-off series. Next
Gen is premiering now on TNN with DS9 coming in 2004 and Voyager in
late 2006.
Nov
17: Tick Licked: Fox pushed
the series premiere back an entire season, and after watching the show
you can see why. It is a horrible television series. It was hard to
sit through an entire episode.
Nov
17: C.S.I.: Thursdays episode
of C.S.I. on CBS scored an impressive 15.7/24 rating and was watched
in 25.1 million homes. Could propel the second year series into the
one of the top two spots for the week. C.S.I. follows the Crime Scene
Investigation team in Las Vegas as they attempt to discover the clues
that will lead them to the killer.
Nov
17: Be Invincible Tomorrow:
TBS' new telefilm 'Invincible' from Jet Li and Mel Gibson premieres
Sunday night, Nov 18th, on TBS at 8pm. The telefilm stars Billy Zane
as the 2000 year old dark angel, 'Shadowman' who kills for pleasure.
In a single moment of clarity, he switches over to the good side and
trains four young fighters to battle evil forces that are menacing the
Earth. Invincible hopes to spin into a weekly TV Series in the U.S.
Hopefully though, not on TBS. TNT & TBS are terrible homes for new
series.
Nov
17: Canseco Kicks Ass:
Baseball star Jose Canseco would be a great 'B' action hero. To prove
it the 37 yr old slugger and his twin brother Ozzie kicked the crap
out of three men in a bar on Halloween after one man grabbed a lady
friend of the twins inappropriately.
Nov
17: Manson Becomes Resident:
Resident Evil has brought in Marilyn Manson to provide music for the
upcoming feature soundtrack. Manson says the work he does for it will
be more electric than his usual shock rock music.
Nov
17: Potter to Break Records:
the new release of Harry Potter will break records simply because of
the number of theatres it opens in this weekend, not to mention the
number of fans who have been waiting to see it.
Nov
17: Aliens Trilogy: Disney has
picked up the rights to the young adult Alien Trilogy by Jonathan Etra
& Stephanie Spinner. The books are 'Aliens for Breakfast', 'Aliens
for Lunch', and 'Aliens for Dinner'.
Nov
16: Superman vs Spacemen: This
season has been a great surprise for the WB & UPN. The WB with 'Smallville'
and UPN with the series 'Enterprise'. Both series are now competing in
the genre ratings too. Last weeks run of both brought Smallville out
on top with a 5.5 rating and Enterprise right on his heels at
5.2.
Nov
16: Other Battles: Special
Unit 2 is kicking the crap out of UPN's other series 'Roswell' which
continues to flounder in the ratings. Seven Days scored equal ratings
in or near the 2's when it got the axe in favor of picking up Roswell.
SU2 is scoring a 2.7 per week. The WB's Charmed appears locked in a
battle with UPN's Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. Charmed scored a 3.6
rating last week and Buffy kicked in with a 3.5, hot on its trail.
Angel sits on Buffy's rear end with a 3.1 rating.
Nov
16: Pretender: The new
Pretender telefilm 'Island of the Haunted' premieres on TNT Dec 10th

marathon on Dec 9th.

air a Repeat of the Buffy Musical tonight on UPN at 8pm before their
'Battle of the Chefs' special kicks off at 9pm.
Nov

number 20 has hired 'Elton John' to score the new feature.
Nov
16: Look At Me: MovieHole.net
has reported that Kate Winslet (Titanic) will bare all in the upcoming
film... 'IRIS'. Is that a good thing?
Nov
15: Willis Goes Action: Bruce
Willis (Die Hard), Cole Hauser (Pitch Black), and Italian actress
Monica Bellucci might be joining up if negotiation go as planned, in
the action film 'Man of War'. Willis leads a special forces unit
into Africa to rescue a doctor (Bellucci) who is performing
humanitarian work in a small village before a civil war erupts.
Nov
15: Wolf Lake Mistake: The CBS
network made a huge mistake with this series. I watched the UNAIRED 41
minute pilot episode today. If was awesome. I was hooked after the
credits started to roll. If this was the direction the series had
actually taken it would still be on today. The unaired pilot episode
was extremely well filmed and written. The 41 minutes (no commercials)
flew by, only to leave me wanting more.
Nov
15: Shallow Hal: It ain't
Sci-Fi or Horror, but it might be Fantasy. Either way - making $23M in
its first week, this film has got to be funny as hell. This one I have
got to see.
Nov
15: The One: This film could
be the 'Lost One' after dropping to just $9M in its second week. Jet
Li just isn't able to carry this one to the big money. At least it
isn't a hundred million dollar 'Tomb Raider' flop.
Nov
15: X-Box: Today is the day
people! X-box is here and it looks so cool compared to Nintendo's
ultra cheap looking 'Game Cube'. The Xbox is stylish and game quality
likely to kick the crap out of the cube. You want the best gaming unit
on the market? Buy the Xbox. Don't trust the Gate's new toy, spend the
dough for a new Playstation 2.
Nov
15: Fritz the Cat: Ever wanted
the animated XXX feature 'Fritz the Cat'? Well, the hunt was on across
the internet for a while. NOW, the film is on DVD fans. If you were
looking for it... look no further than your video store, if they carry
the film. If not - get it on line. Make my very good quality video
worth crap now. :) Is the sequel far behind? That would 'Nine Lives of
Fritz the Cat'.
Nov
15: Special Unit 2: Last
nights episode of SU2 was decent and the special effects dollars were
saved for the final 15 minutes where we get to see the dragon in some
nice effects. What is so cool about this series is that if the effects
are off a bit, it doesn't matter. It is just fun to watch.
Nov
15: XXX: The action flick XXX
starring Vin Diesel (pitch black) was scheduled for a July 26th
release date until Austin Powers 3 announced the same date. Now 'XXX'
will release on Aug 2nd. Principal photography begins on XXX January
7th in Prague. This is two months later than originally planned.
Filming there should take about two weeks.
Nov
15: Goldmember: There is a
report floating around that Seth Green will reprise his role as Dr.
Evils son.
Nov
15: Battlestar Now!:
It is time for any fan of the series 'Battlestar Galactica' to get
their butts on over to Battlestar
Galactica.com and sign their petition for Fox to continue work on
the series telefilm pilot despite Bryan Singer departing for X-Men.
DeSanto is the man behind the series, the man getting the job done and
putting it all together. Not Singer - and DeSanto is still with the
project. HE is the one asking fans to please sign the petition. They
need 10,000 signatures. SIGN, SIGN, SIGN.
Nov
15: Enterprise: the latest
Enterprise episode was another nice character driven piece for two
weeks in a row. The show seems better when the writers don't have to
include but a few crew members in the episode.
Nov
14: Special Unit 2: UPN has
been extremely happy with the success of its second season series
'Special Unit 2'. They have ordered a full second season of the
series. UPN has noted the series double digit audience increase from
last season. Its average across the demographic board is 50%. The
largest increase coming in the 18 - 34 demographic at 70%. Like
I have been saying - this is a fun series to watch.
Nov
14: Wesley Returns: After
appearing on 'Weakest Link' with the Star Trek crew, Wil Wheaton's
agent called the young actor who played 'Wesley Crusher' in the Next
Generation has been asked to reprise his role in the upcoming Star
Trek film Nemesis. There will some minor rewrites to fit the character
into the film. Wheaton told LeVar Burton on 'link' that he thought
Rick Berman didn't like him and that was why the character had never
returned in any of the films. Burton contacted Berman after the show
and now Wheaton will return in the final Next Generation feature.
Nov

great weeks in the ratings battling with the new Mutant X series
Andromeda falls to number three behind syndicated repeat series 'Stargate
SG-1' and 'X-Files'. It was a close battle between the three
series.
Nov
14: Galactica On Hold: The
Battlestar Galactica 'telefilm' being readied by producer Tom DeSanto
has been put on hold by USA studios after the departure of director
'Bryan Singer'. Even though work was continuing it appears that
getting the series pilot done for 'Fox and the Sci-Fi Channel' really
depended on Singers direct involvement. Apparently another director
for the telefilm is not an option. (variety)
Nov
15: Angel Warriors: The Rutger
Hauer/ Arnold Vosloo medievil feature, 'Angel Warriors' being filmed
in Lithuania wraps filming at the end of this month. ( dark horizons )
Nov:
14: Universal Summers: Universal
Studios has inked Mummy director 'Stephen Sommers' to a three year
deal recently. Will that lead to a 'Mummy 3' installment. Sommers is
ready to do something non-mummy for a while, and says that the gang
could come back together for another film, but only if it could be
bigger and better than the last two. Why does it
have to be bigger and better? Why not just as adventurous as the last
one. Indiana Jones was never bigger and better. It was just fun
adventure and the fans love that. (variety)
Nov
14: The Core: The
Patriot's, Tcheky Karyo has joined the subterranean adventure
film, 'The Core'. (e-online)
Nov
14: Horror Deal Done: The deal
with Universal on a feature based on the toys created by Todd
McFarlane have been finalized. The deal is for horror director Clive
Barker and Tom McFarlane to create a new feature film based on Barkers
'Tortured Souls'. An idea from the McFarlane line of toys with the
same name.
Nov
13: Mutant X: A dedicated fan
to the new series 'Mutant X' who I call 'big D', dropped an email
asking for a Mutant X VHS Cover Sheet and help me garner some photos
for the series. Well, it paid off in a nice looking VHS cover sheet
for all the Mutant X fans. And judging by the ratings there are a mess
of fans out there. There are 109 VHS
Cover Sheets on site for download. Please enjoy them all. Make
your VHS collection look great on the shelf. Special thanks to big 'D'
for his efforts helping with the cover sheet.

for Rambo 4. In this one John Rambo parachutes into Afghanistan to do
battle with the Taliban.
Nov
13: X-Files Falls: The season
nine opener for X-Files had a ratings drop of 35% from last years
opener. Trouble? Might be when the series goes head to head with the
hit show 'Alias'.
Nov
13: Chronicles: The Sci-Fi
Channel has greenlighted the backside nine episodes for its surprising
series, 'The Chronicles'. This give the series the full season 22
episodes.
Nov
13: Episode 2: George Lucas is
taking some action against the Anti-Piracy of the next movie by
releasing the film around the world on the same day. However, what
George fails to realize is that for fans, it doesn't matter when or
where it is released. It is about having it on the shelf at HOME while
the film is still at theatres.
Nov
13: Trek Feature: The
SyFiPortal has news from Patrick Stewart that despite rumors that will
be no changes in the script as previously reported. It was nothing but
rumors reporting that the script needed rewrites after the Sept. 11th
attack.
Nov

Bro. has officially announced a February 8th release of Arnold's
actioner 'Collateral Damage'.
Nov

According to reports at Dark Horizons there the Season 4 boxed set of
Buffy and the season 2 boxed set of Angel will be in widescreen
format.
Nov
12: 007 & Billy Bob: An
insider has released information that Billy Bob Thornton may play the
Villain in the upcoming James Bond film should they go with the oil
tycoon story - one of several being considered at this time. Thornton
would play a Texas oil Billionaire wanting to take over control of the
worlds oil supply. And of course is very interested in the part.
Nov

Peter Webber (men only) will direct.

Ribisi.
Nov
12: No Battlestar: Looks like
FOX is losing interest in the new 'Battlestar Galactica'
telefilm/pilot after Bryan Singer pulled out. CLICK
HERE to check out the petition you need to sign, if you want to
see the telefilm get made. They need about 10,000 signatures.
Nov
12: X-Files: David Duchovny
just can't stay away from the X-Files, even though he has bitched
about being part of the series for years. Creator Chris Carter has not
ruled out the possibility that Duchovny might return for an episode or
two as Mulder this season. Might as well to set up the second film.
That would be the only reason for bringing the character back at
all.
Nov
12: No Showbiz: The Mr.
Showbiz website has closed down after six years on the internet. The
website went black a few days ago.
Nov
11: X-Men Villain: The
Moviehole website is reporting a great rumor that possibly actor 'Tom
Sizemore' (the relic, saving private ryan) is being considered for the
new villain in X-Men 2. His part would be a human 'Military Leader' in
the film. I would rather see him as a mutant.
Nov
11: The Forgotten: Nicole
Kidman will join the cast of the thriller 'the Forgotten' about a man
& woman in their 30's who join up together to find answers about
the abduction of their children. The male lead has not been cast yet,
nor has a director.
Nov
11: Austin Powers: Mike Myers
is reportedly after Nicole Kidman for a small role in his upcoming
Austin Powers sequel 'Goldmember'. Kidman has reportedly said she is
almost positive she will accept.
Nov
11: Sinbad: In an interview
with director John Singleton he was very excited about bringing back
'Sinbad' for Columbia. They are planning a whole series of 'Sinbad'
films. The first being planned for the near future. Singleton thinks
it might even be his next picture or possible one more small film for
him and then Sinbad.
Nov
11: RH1658: Ron Shusett Prod.
has purchased a script for the Sci-Fi/Actioner 'RH1658: A Very Human
Story'. The story... is set in 2091, the surviving society of a
catastrophic plague rebuilds a post apocalyptic paradise by
manufacturing an underground society of cloned humans to serve as a
quasi-slave labor force. While searching for meaning and illegal
love, one particular clone laborer, among the millions, becomes the
unwitting hero of an underground clone rebellion.
Nov
11: Jake & Mimi: A
psychological Thriller based on the upcoming novel from Frank Baldwin.
Brian Carr will adapt the script about Jake, a guy who has no limits
when it comes to sex and women…until Mimi came along. As Jake
starts to rethink his life, trouble begins as women he had slept with
in the past begin to be murdered and all fingers point to him.
Nov
11: Tripod: Disney has picked
up the rights to 'Tripod' - a sci-fi film. Another film set in a
post-apocalyptic world story. This one about a boy fighting off aliens
trying to brainwash him. The film will be based on a novel from John
Christopher.
Nov
11: Invincible: The latest
previews for the new Mel Gibson & Jet Li telefilm, 'Invincible'
have looked incredible. The fight scenes appear done in Matrix style,
while the scenes shown with Billy Zane look nice. This is definitely a
telefilm worth watching Nov 18.
Nov
10: the Lost World: I have
added a new VHS Cover Sheet for 'the Lost World' to the site for
download. That makes six new cover sheets to the site this week and
one piece of new 'Digital Art'. Amazing how much 'the Lost World has
been ignored by most of the major genre magazines. Very few articles
and even less photos from this series - a series that is in its third
season. CLICK HERE for the
VHS Cover Sheet area. HERE
for the digital art area.
Nov
10: Trek Apartment on eBay: A
British Star Trek fan who did his whole apartment in Star Trek: the
Next Generation theme is auctioning it off on eBay with a starting bid
of $3.9M. The apartment is in Leicestershire UK. Interior designer
Tony Alleyne is the man responsible for the impressive creation.
Nov
10: Aquaman: Amazing as it
sounds, the Justice League will only feature the wonderful character
of 'Aquaman' in just two episodes. Aquaman was part of the original
superfriends cartoon. Hopefully fan support will help bring the
Aquaman into a regular role on the animated series.
Nov
10: The Tick: Scott Strout
checks in with his review of the new series on Fox... THE TICK.... Based
on the cartoon that I was a huge fan of Fox finally unveils their live
Action version of The Tick. While the show did have it's moments what
is really lacking is the performance by Patrick Warburton. He's just
not funny. For me he doesn't click at playing The Tick - something the
show needs to be successful. Warburton and David Burke who plays
Arthur share no real on screen chemistry. However the show does have a
few things going for it. I was laughing from the moment Nestor
Carbonell stepped on the screen as Batmanuel. He's just got the
character down pat and he's funny. Also Liz Vassey as Captain Liberty
does her role well and they share chemistry that the two leads are
lacking. Another plus is that the shows' special effects and The Tick
outfit look pretty good, but it's still going to be hard transforming
a cartoon world on a half-hour comedy budget and do it convincingly.
It was a decent start, but unless The Tick improves from it's pilot I
don't see it lasting too long.
Nov
10: Original Trek Auction:
Original creators of some props, now in their 70's and 80's are
auctioning off their original series 'Star Trek' stuff on eBay. Any
fan such as myself would love to own this stuff. True fans, such as
myself can't afford to even bid on the stuff. :) One item going
up for bid is the ONLY remaining production model left of the
Enterprise. (value: about $50,000) Other items... Spock's Bed and
tricorder, some phasers, models and other great stuff.
Nov
9: Next Gen Box Set: On March 17th next year fans will get the season 1 boxed set
of 'Star Trek: the Next Generation'. Season 2 will follow on May 7th
next year. Deepspace Nine should not be far behind.
Nov
9: New Digital Art:
I have uploaded a new piece of digital artwork titled 'Otherworlds 2'.
Check out the area titled 'Space
Art'. Remember, several original pieces of art are being removed.
Nov
9: X-Files 2: Chris Carter
confirms that David Duchovny will be returning to the X-Files for the
sequel to the first hit film. Joining him will be his partner Gillian
Anderson. 20th is hoping for a franchise ala 'Trek'. You could
then possibly expect appearances by Gish and Patrick along with other
regulars from the series.
Nov
9: First Wave Feature: Thanks
to the German company that bought Pearson Ent. the series 'First Wave'
is done. However, Sebastian Spence has been talking with executive
producer Chris Brancato about the possibility of a feature film based
on the series. Spence is amazed because with the series cancelled it
is more popular now, thant when it was filming. Spence says the
series is definitely dead, but you never know about a feature.
Nov
9: More Digital Art: Been a
while since any new digital art has been posted. Well, there is more
artwork coming too. In the next few days I hope to add a piece or two
of new art. Got about 24 new works but need to sift through it for the
best quality pieces you might enjoy. Please note that a few of the
older pieces are likely to be removed as well. Enjoy.
Nov
9: Back to the Future: Dark
Horizons confirms that the summer of 2002 will bring forth a new DVD

have been waiting YEARS for this boxed set. Likely to be a huge seller
when it hits the stores.
Nov
9: Invincible: The new TNT
telefilm, 'Invincible' starring 'Billy Zane' (the Phantom), and
produced by Mel Gibson premieres Nov 18th. At one time the film was to
star 'Jet Li' as a pilot for a new series. Billy Zane stepped in after
Li's departure.
Nov
9: Ghost Rider: Despite all
the crap going around about Ghost Rider, director Steve Norrington
says he still might direct the comic book turned feature.
Nov
9: Bounty Hunter: Christian
Slater looks set to star in the feature 'Bounty Hunter' being directed

magazine out with 5 different covers dedicated to the new 'Lord of the
Rings' film. Hey, the advertising in on fans. Look out!
Nov
9: Aylssa Speaks: Charmed actress Alyssa Milano told Stuff
Magazine that 'Shannon Doherty' was like a bad roommate and that she
was fearful to say anything because she was afraid of her. Says Milano...
"I have a fear of confrontation, and she can be so
aggressive." What a load of bull! Can you believe this crap? I was
afraid... HA haahahahahahahaha, that's good. Can you picture it...
"Aaron!... She yelled at me?"
Nov
9: Lost World Campaign: Your
help is needed - if your a fan of 'The Lost World'. Season 3 did not
come without sacrifices. Now fans want the return of a character lost
in the first season... the character of Professor 'Summerlee' played
by... Michael Sinelnikoff. There is a campaign to bring the character
back to the show. If you would like to help click the link and help
the fans out... CLICK
HERE NOW to save Summerlee.
Nov
8: 24 Ratings: The new series
'24' debuted with crappy ratings in its first night. Why... well, when
you put the series up against the NYPD Blue and Frasier, what chance
do you really have? NONE! Why is it with so much BAD television hours
these networks put their best series up against each other. What
friggin' sense could this possibly make.
Nov
8: New VHS Covers: I have
received a few covers from Josh Hadley and will begin putting them up
on the site this week. Covers include a third 'Farscape' cover,
Crossing Jordan, Boston Public, and even Wolf Lake.
Already up for download are 24, Wolf Lake and
Boston Public. Download yours today. Check out all the covers in the VHS
Cover Sheet Area.
Nov
8: Crappy Sci-Fi Mag Resurrected:
The Sci-Fi Channels magazine was a poor style Sci-Fi Mag and went
under when Sovereign Media decided to shut down the mag with no
notice. The Sci-Fi Channel has reportedly taken over Sci-Fi Magazine
and will publish its first issue in December. No word on the mags
content or if it will return to its 8 issues per year or become a
monthly mag. Hopefully it will be better under the SFC's banner.
Couldn't get much worse.
Nov
8: Just a Pilgrim: Catch 23
Entertainment has purchased a sci-fi script from author Garth Ennis
titled 'Just a Pilgrim'. A religious Green Beret who quotes scripture
while giving the Lord's harsh judgment on what he considers the
unholy, must lead a group of refugees to sanctuary.
Nov
8: Special Unit 2: The
Medusas invaded the squad of SU2 with First Wave's 'Sebastian Spense'
(his role was kind of weak though) on board for the ride this week. The episode was again fun, and the
effects decent. With the sayings like, 'Let's Get Some Head', and
'Easy opening my ass' you can't go wrong. The series is a great mix of
acting, music, and humor.
Nov
8: PhotoImpact 7: Fans of the
wonderful internet/photo package from Ulead will enjoy knowing that
PhotoImpact 7 is now available. The price is likely to be in the $90
price range. This software package is loaded and terrific for the
Internet Webmaster. Better than photoshop for this kind of work at one
sixth the price. The package comes with an applet creator, animation
software, special effects and 3D text. A button creator and more. What
is better is that the photo workshop of PhotoImpact is incredible. You
will love it.
Nov
8: Enterprise: Nice character
driven episode this week as the Vulcan actually warms up somewhat to
the ships first officer. Nicely written episode this week.
Nov
7: Farscape VHS: I have added
a new Farscape cover sheet to the website for download. There are
currently 108 VHS Cover Sheets
available for download. Over 85 VideoCD
fronts, back, and CDR labels. Over 255 VHS
side & top labels are on site as well. All free, all the
time.
Nov
7: UPN Kicks Ass!: The
addition of Buffy, the Vampire Slayer and Enterprise have propelled
UPN's year to year ratings to the highest increase ever for a network.
UPN has done it across the age demographic board for about a 19%
overall total increase. Roswell... has been a disappointment so far -
Special Unit 2 the surprise. UPN still has 'the Dead Zone' in waiting
from Lion's Gate and should pick up 'The Invisible Man' -
if they were smart. The audience is larger than that of Roswill.
Nov
7: X-Files 2: Chris
Carter is currently negotiating with 20th Century Fox for a second
X-Files film. One that will likely involve Gillian Anderson and David
Duchovny ( who are both sick of the series but willing to do a
feature film ). Carter and Frank Spotnitz are expected to pen the
script over the next few months. The target is a Christmas 2003 or
summer 2004 date.
Nov
7: Blade 2 Trailer: The new
trailer for 'Blade 2' will be attached to Lord of the Rings when it
hits theatres at Christmas. The Wesley Snipes sequel is boasted to be
better than the first film. And it was outstanding. Snipes is already
working on getting a third sequel into development and New Line has
given David Goyer the green light to pen the script - he will
also produce the film as part of the agreement. Goyer says he is done
writing for other directors after the third 'Blade' film is complete.
Nov
7: Highlander 5: Don't bet on
this one. Adrian Paul was unhappy with Highlander 4, and told fans in
the Yahoo Clubs, that it is unlikely that he would be willing to do
another Highlander feature unless he was given more control of the
film. For now, he says the franchise is done with him involved.
Nov
7: Irwin Allen: There is a
rumor floating at Dark Horizons that Fox will be making DVD boxed sets
of all the Irwin Allen series. Very Cool! That includes 'Lost In
Space', 'Land of the Giants', 'Time Tunnel', and 'Voyage to the Bottom
of the Sea'.
Nov
7: Fox Gets Time: Fox TV has
won the rights to the new two-hour pilot telefilm 'Time Tunnel'. Fox
and ABC were dueling it out to get the rights. Fox now has the
'Battlestar Galactica' pilot and Time Tunnel. The network is also
ready to outbid ABC for the rights to the proposed 'Lost In Space'
series/mini-series that is in development.
Nov
7: Space Above & Beyond:
Just watched Morgan & Wongs Space: Above and Beyond for four
episodes on the SFC. This was a great series. Incredible effects for
TV and a cast that
was outstanding together. the story arc was intriguing and the writing
was well done. It is truly to bad this series only lasted
one season and ended in a cliffhander. SAAB would be awesome if taken
to the big screen. A true underrated series, even today.
Rumor
Repeat
Nov 7: Sci-Fi Channel Dismantled?: Here
is an interesting rumor being started by someone with a source close
to USA Studios... posted on the sci-fi channel bulletin board... I
hate to be the start of what I could only hope to be a spurious rumor,
but a dear friend in the industry has related a very nasty story from
a family member of theirs in the inner circle at USA Networks. Plans
are to dismantle the Sci-Fi Channel within the next year, to be
replaced with what is being tentatively called The Adventure Network.
Other titles include AdventureUSA or USAdventure. This channel will
feature adventure series such as the USA produced Hercules, Xena,
Pacific Blue, as well as stockpiled movies in the USA film vaults.
This project has already been experimented on with the showings of
"Cape Fear" and "Ravenous" on Sci-Fi. There will
be some science fiction, but nowhere to the degree that it is now. The
cancellation of First Wave and Invisible Man are the start of the
dismantling operation due to production costs. The next head on the
chopping block is said to be Farscape, whose costs are being measured
by some as being a better package for syndication. With Season 4
coming soon, they will have achieved the prerequisite number of
episodes for a syndication deal. Likely nothing more than
a rumor... but in rumors come some truth. Ehhh.
Nov
7: Alien vs Predator: A source
for Moviehole.com has turned in a report on the lately talked about
'Alien vs Predator' feature. Davis Entertainment apparently now owns
the entire property after buying out all the other producers which
included Joel Silver and Walter Hill. Pitch Black's David Twohy is
apparently the front runner for the directing job. Davis Entertainment
has apparently been shopping the project around for the past six-weeks
or so.
Nov

7: 101 Part 2: Disney is so
happy with the direct to video sequel to 101 Dalmatians that the film
may get a theatrical release instead. Disney is searching for
alternative methods over direct to video.
Nov
7: Andromeda #1: For the week
of 10/15 Andromeda made its move on the number one spot - this week
sharing the number one syndicated slot with its sister series 'Mutant
X'.
Nov
7: Talisman Dumped: ABC has
dumped the mini-series based on Stephen Kings novel of the same name.
The script was well received but ABC still stepped back from the
project. Director Mick Garris says the project may be dumped by ABC,
but that doesn't mean it won't be on some other potential network.
Look-out, this sounds like a job for the Sci-Fi Channel. All they care

over the weekend as expected. The new film shattered the record set by
Toy Story 2 taking in $63.5M - $6M more TS2 did. Of course it costs
about $1 more ticket than it did then. Records should be done by total
number of tickets sold instead of the $$$$ intake of a film.

in the number two spot.

5: Prey Fans Listen Up!: Prey fans are urging everyone to hit the channel hard for the next two weeks, pointing out that the
IMAN-Prey crossover was a huge success, as was the chat with Adam
Storke. Likewise, Vince is one of the channel's hottest items, so with an audience that combines both IMAN and Prey fans, a Prey wrap up movie comes with an enormous guaranteed audience.
This project won't necessarily be a "sequel", but it will address the cliffhanger in Deliverance and bring out some new dimensions in the creepy concept of a violent enemy that looks like, is descended from, and lives among us.Fans of Prey, Vincent
Ventresca, and Adam Storke can help by immediately sending several emails, phone calls, and postcards to
Sci-Fi. E-mails go to program@scifi.com and feedback@scifi.com. Phone numbers:

4: Battlestar Galactica: It is
true that Bryan Singer has pulled out of directing the pilot telefilm
for Battlestar Galactica. It is also true that many of the crew
constructing sets for the film were let go. However the production is
still moving forward in Vancouver and Tom Santo is in the process of
hunting down a new director. Because of the closeness of filming
schedules Singer was forced to step away from the pilot to work on
X-Men 2. Galactica is already well into pre-production with
storyboards and the script already completed. Getting a new director is
the first business at hand. Fans can continue to hope that we'll see
the pilot movie from USA Studios by the end of next year on Fox.
Singer will likely still be involved with the project as a whole.

thought it a decent series.

In an amazing experiment it may be possible that someday very soon
Superman star... Christopher Reeves may indeed step away from
his wheelchair. The possibility comes after doctors
successfully transplanted fetal stem cells from pigs into the spines
of six paraplegic patients in an operation designed to restore their
movement. The pioneering procedure may offer hope to tens of thousands
of people such as the tragic "Superman" star, who was
paralyzed in a horse-riding accident. Reeve is said to be keeping a
close watch on the experiment, as his condition makes him suitable for
the same therapy.
