28: Aeon Flux in Flux Again: Once
locked in development hell, and then forgotten, Aeon Flux makes a
fantastic return to a possible major motion picture. Apparent the
project could move into production by June of this year, with gorgeous
actress Charlize Theron in the lead role. Aeon Flux was created by
Peter Cheung, which premiered on MTV.
Feb
28: A Waste of Talent: Talk
about wasting some serious talent. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy comic
books, and even better seeing them come to the big screen. But when
talent like Joss Whedon and Bryan Singer decide to write X-Men comic
books and take time from their television and feature endeavors,
something is really wrong. At least the comic X-Men will take off in
huge sales with these two working on it.
Feb
28: Punisher II: How good will
the Punisher be when it hits theaters this spring? Only the dollar
signs will tell. The early reviews have been good and Lions Gate
Entertainment seems to be so happy with the film that they are already
in negotiations with Marvel comics for a sequel.
Feb
28: Batman Stupid: That might
as well be the title for the fifth film. The real title is just as
exciting. Batman Begins is what Warner Bros. has decided to call the
new film. Nice. Doesn't that title just make you see action, adventure
and continued boredom? Stupid, Stupid, and yes... Stupid.
Feb
28: Shatner Gets Some Practice:
William Shatner, legendary starship captain, will join the cast of The
Practice for four episodes near the end of the season. He'll be taking
on the role of a lawyer named Danny Crane. If loses the case I hope he
pulls out a phaser and zaps the judge a time or two.
Feb
28: xXx: Vin Diesel's
popularity has obviously gone to his head. I was wondering why Diesel
was not doing the sequel to a character he made his own. When an actor
asks for $25 million dollars to do a film, I can see why a studio
balks. Greed cost the actor a cool franchise that could have produced
a slew of new action films for the actor. Now we get Vin Diesel
returning to the third Fast and the Furious feature, where he'll be
upstaged by the cars. Nice choice, dick head.
Feb
28: Will & Grace Growing Old:
We've seen Friends walk away along with Frasier and Sex in the City.
Three hit series this year alone. Ray Romano is ready to walk away
from his hit series "Everybody Love Raymond" despite the
rest of the cast wanting to return. With his box office flop at
theaters right now, the actor might rethink his stupid decision. Also
on the brink of extinction might be Will & Grace. After a
sub-standard season, the court battle over rights to the show, and now
the shows creators getting booted by NBC.
Feb
26: Underworld II: The sequel
to the very cool feature Underworld has been give a production
schedule. Screen Gems & Lakeshore Entertainment will begin
production in the fall of 2004. Kate Beckinsdale will reprise her
role, as the heroine vampire, who fell in love with a werewolf played
by Scott Speedman - who is also expected to return. Len Wiseman will
return to helm the project on a script from Danny McBride. The script
should be ready by early April.
Feb
26: Blackwater Mini: The
Sci-Fi Channel, king of mini-series, and horribly cheap made two-hour
telefilms has greenlit Backwater. A four-hour supernatural mini-series
based on the six novels from the deceased novelist Michael McDowell.
Sony Pictures Television is teaming up with Mandalay Television and
the Orphanage are producing the project. (scifi.com)
Feb
26: Passion For Dollars: The
new Mel Gibson flick, The Passions of the Christ opened to nearly $20
million, and should make close to $60 million for the five day total
providing the lines remain strong. A 50 year-old healthy woman
suffered a heart attack, and expired, during a matinee showing of the
film.
Feb
26: Sin City: The black and
white graphic novels from Frank Miller (who also did the classic
Daredevil comics) are being turned into a feature film. At the helm of
this project is director Robert Rodriquez (Spy Kids, The Faculty, From
Dusk Till Dawn). Josh Harnet will be starring in Sin City along with
Marley Shelton. (cinescape.com)
Feb
26: Blade III: David Goyer is
using scenes that were cut from the first two films in the third
installment. The scenes were recreated and expanded on. Goyer is in
the process of editing the film at Henson Studios in Hollywood. A
scene left from the first film was to show the human farm bank being
used by the Vampires. The original scene, that was filmed but not used
had maybe four humans in it. Goyers version has thousands and
thousands of bodies in it. Another scene is now the films opening
scene of Blade in a 1968 Charger fighting with the vampires in cars
and on motorcycles.
Feb
25: Batman: David Goyer, who
wrote the three Blade scripts and is directing the third film, also
wrote the Batman script fans will be seeing starring Christian Bale.
Goyer tells the scifi wire that this script is more realistic than any
of the previous films. Goyer is a comic book freak, and excited about
the new film.
Feb
25: From Rings to King:
Director Peter Jackson told the Hollywood Reporter that he will be
bringing over some of his veteran crew from Lord of the Rings to work
on his new King Kong. Jackson is still scripting, and doesn't know if
any of the cast from Rings will be coming over to take on some roles
in the film.
Feb
25: Billion Dollar King: The
third Rings film, Return of the King, has become only the second film
ever to break the $1 billion dollar mark. Titanic is number one with
$1.8 billion total, but King has broken the billion dollar mark a week
earlier than Titanic had. Imagine a $300 million investment returning
a gross figure of $2.8 billion world-wide.
Feb
25: Poseidon Remake: Wolfgang
Peterson and Mike Fleiss are planning to team up to remake the classic
Poseidon Adventure, which starred Gene Hackman.
Feb
25: Johnny Quest: Fans of the
animated series can begin picking up their copies of the cartoon on
May 11th. Unfortunately the Johnny Quest boxed set (26 episodes on
four discs) will street with an SRP of $64.92. A bit high for animated
adventure, despite how good it was.
Feb
25: Robocop: The series isn't
coming to DVD, but the three films are coming in a boxed set for
$36.96 on June 8th. The first two films are very good, and the third
film is quite humorous. (digitalbits.com)
Feb
25: Voyager Art Crappy:
Paramount dropped the ball again on cover art for Star Trek: Voyager,
just as they did with Deep Space Nine. It's just plain ugly. Fans have
designed much better art for their own personal collections.
Feb
24: MI 3: What's the hold-up
for Mission Impossible 3? Well, it must be the friggin' script. A
completed script has FINALLY been handed in to Paramount for
consideration. (darkhorizons.com)
Feb
24: Enterprise: There is so
much talk these days about the possible cancellation of UPN's
Enterprise. There has been more advertising with this than
Paramount and UPN combined has spent to advertise Enterprise over the
last two seasons. Everyone can point fingers at who is
responsible and decided what changes need to be made. But it comes
down to the idiot suits are CBS who actually run Enterprise to get
behind the series. The second decision MUST be to walk Rick Berman and
Brannon Braga out the front and toss them into the street. Rather than
deal with the franchise they let Berman/Braga do whatever they wished
without thought. The franchise needs changes and new leadership. Not a
cancellation of the best running franchise in television
history.
Feb
24: Runelords: I was never fascinated
with the fantasy novels "The Runelords", but they look to be
headed back to the big screen by Franchise Pictures. Warner Bros. will
distribute the film. The first film is budgeted for $80 million in a
potential trilogy franchise. Look for the ensemble casting names to
begin appearing in March.
Feb
24: Sword of Dracula:
Universal has optioned the rights to the comic book series "Sword
of Dracula", from comic Jason Henderson. Daybreak Productions and
Prime Universe Productions inked the deal with Henderson to bring his
creation to the big screen in a live-action feature. Henderson will
also get to act as an executive producer on his material, which a bad
day. They picture the film to be like and Raiders of the Lost Ark
style film, except no nazi's.
Feb
24: Lost In Space: The
Robinson's have picked up a few new cast members. Brad Johnson,
scifi's Riverworld, has picked up along with Ryan Malgarini of Freaky
Friday to play the roles of John and Will Robinson. Mike Erwin has
picked slated to play Don West. The series pilot is budgeted at $2
million dollars an episode. (futon critic.com)
Feb
24: Starsky & Hutch: Anyone
seen the horrible previews for the upcoming Starsky and Hutch turned
comedy feature starring Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller. The feature is
absolutely and abomination of the what the series was. The previews
aren't even funny. What a box office flop in what could have been the
next Lethal Weapon duo, given the right actors and not idiots.
Feb
24: Quantum Leap Return: While
on the canceled Wayne Brady show, Enterprise captain Scott Bakula told
fans that he went to Universal Marketing with his Quantum Leap costar
Dean Stockwell concerning a return of the series and was told that
Quantum Leap was NOT a marketable name. What is up with that? The DVD
sets are coming soon, and there were rumors of two Quantum Leap movie
projects in development.
Feb
20: Cable or the Dish:
Decisions, decisions. Should you go for the dish, or settle for cable.
It's not an easy decision and it comes down to need more than
anything, but you might as well have some good information before
making such a huge decision. I have had both and CLICK
HERE to read my take on both systems.
Feb
20: More Time Machine: Warner Bros. and Arnold Leibovit Entertainment might be
considering a new Time Machine mini-series to continue from where the
feature left off. It successful the mini could become a weekly series.
(dreamworksfansite.com)
The feature from the same people was not that successful at the box
office. Time Tunnel would be a much better project.
Feb
19: Elektra On The Move: Rob
Bowman (X-Files & Reign of Fire) is currently negotiating with Fox
& Regency Enterprises to helm Elektra. The feature stars Jennifer
Garner, who played the character in the Daredevil film. Mark Steven
Johnson, Gary Foster, and Marvel's Avi Arad are producing the
film.
Feb
19: Dark Shadows: Speaking of
director Rob Bowman, he will helm the pilot Dark Shadows for the WB.
Bowman seems to enjoy the genre directing episodes of VR5, MANTIS, and
the Lone Gunmen.
Feb
19: From Top to Nada: Hard to
imagine the quick transition from hot commodity to see ya around dude.
That is what happened to TV Vets Chris Carter with Fox, and Joss
Whedon at the WB. Chris Carter ruled with the X-Files and went on to
create Millennium, Harsh Realm, and the Lone Gunmen. Now the creator/
writer and director has nada on Fox. For Joss Whedon at the WB he had
Buffy and Angel which ruled the network for years, later creating the
short lived series Firefly. Now for Whedon he has no programs airing.
It must be a hard jolt starting over, hoping to come up with something
fresh the network will take on.
Feb
19: UPN Unlikely for Angel: As
I told fans at another website a few days ago, UPN picking up Angel is
unlikely. A long shot at best according to series creator Joss Whedon.
20th Century Fox is currently putting a package together in an attempt
to get UPN interested. If it does happen it could be for the 2005
season, and not this year.
Feb
19: The Batman: There are
trying to get some really big names to increase the buzz on the new
Batman film starring Christian Bale as the Bat. Joining the cast,
which already includes Michael Caine and Katie Holmes, have signed
both Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman.
Feb 18: Green Hornet:
Miramax will be bringing a Green Hornet feature film to a theater near
you. They have hired Kevin Smith (Jersey Girl - hacker) to write and
direct the new movie. Miramax expects to begin lensing by late summer.
Smith claims he'll have the script done and ready to go in time. It's
to early to predict the actors, but Jackie Chan or Jet Li could could
be the for the front runner as Kato, played by Bruce Lee in the
television series.
Feb
18: More Enterprising Gossip: A
source for Cinescape online, that broke the news about the shortened
season, has again been in contact with their site. The news still is
not very good, and could be great news too. A decision on the shows
fate likely will not be determined until the end of April. Febuary
sweeps will likely have little to do with the shows fate. After all,
they have no special guests for sweeps or two hour telefilms to
highlight the show. After sweeps the decision will be made to either
kill the show, and likely dump Berman and Braga... OR give Enterprise
one more season and still show Rick Berman and Brannon Braga the door
- sideways I hope. It would be bad for the fans and franchise to
cancel the show, it would be great putting the franchise in new hands.
Gimmee the keys, I'll drive! Oh, Scott Bakula has been in secret
meetings with Gary Hart, President of Paramount, minus Rick Berman.
They are rumored to be putting together a new production staff to save
the series. If Enterprise is saved fans could expect a likely shake-up
from the way the series stands. First up is to get the series
renewed for the 2004 season. (cinescapeonline)
Feb
18: The Thing II: Everyone
knows that both features of "The Thing" were left open for
the creature to return again. Counting Down.com has a report that
director John Carpenter may have a sequel script ready to go. In
August of 2002 Universal contacted Carpenter about such a project. The
hold up then was contract negotiations between the two. At least
he doesn't have to worry about bringing anyone back. There were only
two survivors and they could have frozen to death - one of them
being... The Thing.
Feb
18: Quantum Leap Cofirmed:
Fans of the series can show their happy face. Universal home video has
decided to bring Sam Beckett and his holographic side-kick Al to DVD
in seasonal boxed sets. Looks like the early planning stages for a
couple of Quantum Leap movies has Universal hot and heavy to release
the DVDs. Look for the first set on June 8th at a pricey $69.99. The
price is a bit high considering is just the nine hours of programming,
that includes the pilot and Genesis episode. (tv
shows on dvd)
Feb
18: Genre Stars Return to TV: What
do ex-genre stars do when there is no scifi work? They head to
whatever comes their way of course. Lois and Clark's Teri Hatcher
landed a co-star role in an ABC drama pilot titled "Desperate
Housewives". Back to the Future's Christopher Lloyd heads to the
CBS drama pilot "Clubhouse". Meanwhile Jeff Goldbloom of
Jurassic Park, ID4 moves from feature to tv in a new Paul Reiser
comedy pilot "My 11:30" and Hellboy's Selma Blair comes to
television in the new David E. Kelly pilot for ABC titled "DeMarco
Affairs".
Feb
18: More Tomb Raider: Just
can't keep a mediocre franchise down. Despite poor box office returns
in the United States, both Tomb Raider films has done very well
overseas along with the DVD sales. So much so, that there is now talk
of a third and final Tomb Raider feature. According to actor Chris
Barnie, who plays Lara butler Hilary there is a third film on the
slate. Producer Lloyd Levin says that the international returns on the
film more than warrant a final film. (darkhorizons.com)
Feb
18: SuperDoomed: What a
screwed up feature project. The fifth Superman film shouldn't be that
hard to come up with something exciting for a storyline. Yet once
again comes rumors that the project has shut down again. Warner Bros.
wants some major rewrites on the script. Hell, these bozos can't even
decide on who they want for Clark Kent and the supporting cast.
Superman 5 has been screwed up since they started working on it. What
a mess.
Feb
18: Goonies II: What is up
with Goonies 2? Well, according to Corey Feldman, Richard Donner has
the fans petition in his hands, Steven Spielberg is ready to go, as is
the ensemble cast. However... despite having five or six scripts to
choose from, none of them live up to the original. The WB is even
willing to do the film. Script writers have been brought in to hash
out some story lines. Feldman tells fans, if you haven't signed the
petition get off your ass and sign it. (moviehole.net)
Feb
18: Episode III: Dreamwatch
magazine was told by fight coordinator Nick Gillard that Episode III
is action packed with about 60% to 70% of the movie involves fighting.
He also tells Dreamwatch that the final prequel will tie in well with
the original films.
Feb
18: Space Above & Beyond: Fox
is actually considering the release of the series in a DVD boxed set.
It could still be awhile before it happens. The Chris Carter series
will likely come first. This one I'll purchase.
Feb
18: Millennium DVD: Fox is
looking to bring Harsh Realm and Millennium to DVD after the X-Files
DVD boxed sets wrap up in November. Fans of the Lone Gunmen
should hope Realm and Millennium do well. There success or failure
will determine if the series hits DVD.
Feb
18: Lucas Screws Indy: As
everyone knows, Frank Darabont has completed the Indiana Jones 4
script, but it was rejected by George Lucas, who is producing. Funny
thing about all this is that Steven Spielberg loved it and was ready
to do it. Lucas had issues with the script and deferred the rework to
himself. Based on Lucas' previous script work, the project could be
doomed. If Darabont wrote it, and Spielberg enjoyed it, just do the
damned thing and leave it the hell alone.
Feb
16: Enterprise Again: Star
Trek: Enterprise may not even make it to it's new 9pm timeslot before
cancellation comes looking for the series. Without so much as a day
and timeslot change Paramount may pull the plug on the franchise. The
ratings have not improved and UPN/Paramount has spent $2 in promoting
the shows episodes each week. There is a good chance UPN will cancel
the series in the near future, and Paramount will can Rick Berman,
along with Brannon Braga. Fan response and save the series petitions
will have NO effect on the studio and stations decision. Thanks
guys, for your hard work destroying a potential cash cow. Paramount,
you stink.
Feb
16: Blade: The Series: David
Goyer has plans to spin off Blade: Trinity into a weekly series. The
new series would be set when Blade is just twenty years old with
Whistler in his forties. Yunno, gotta have the twenty-something thing
going on. (moviehole.net)
Goyer and friends may find there are no spots available for the new
series if it syndicated.
Feb
16: Mutant X, End Coming?:
There is a good chance next season of Mutant X, its fourth, will be
the shows final season. Lion's Gate had considered canceling the
series at the end of this season despite Mutant X being one of the top
three syndicated sci-fi series behind only Stargate SG-1 and sister
series Andromeda.
Feb
15: Angel Buried at WB: Late
Friday afternoon, the WB officially gave Angel it' burial plot. It is
unknown if Angel will be allowed to complete the seasons run, but the
WB looks to be allowing Josh Whedon to rewrite his scripts to complete
the series with the remaining episodes. Wow... The ratings had really
turned around for the series this year after an early season decline.
Makes one wonder if the Sci-Fi Channel would be willing to pick up the
rights - if they have the money after greenlighting Battlestar
Galactica. (Thanks to Mark Egan for turning me on to the story.)
Feb
15: Brosnan Still Rules: MGM
has issued a statement that they would like Pierce Brosnan to star in
the 21st Bond film due in theaters on November 2005. Brosnan has said
he would like to do the next one, and maybe one more after that.
Brosnan is a great Bond. Hopefully the next one will be young enough
to do about ten before looking for another guy.
Feb
13: Lost In Space: The
character of Maureen Robinson will be played by actress Jane Brook.
The original Maureen was played by June Lockhart in the 60's series on
CBS. She joins Adrianne Palicki, earlier signed on to play Judy.
Feb
13: Batman: Liam Neeson has
signed on to play a part in the upcoming Batman film. Neeson got his
start in the genre with Krull, and starred in Darkman. After
co-starring in Episode One the actor was put off with genre features
and even bitched a bit about it. He will reportedly star opposite of
Christian Bale, who plays Batman.
Feb
13: Doctor Who Returns: The
BBC has finally let everyone in on their plans for Dr. Who to return
to the airwaves in a new series. The BBC plans a 13 episode first
season run. The man behind the Who revival, Russell T. Davies, will
write seven of the 13 episodes. They will be contacting other writers
in the near future.
Feb
13: Angel: The season three
box set of the WB's Angel has jumped to the number one selling spot.
Something else to make sure that the WB greenlights another season of
Angel, eh. The only other boxed sets in the top ten DVD sci-fi
sellers... Red Dwarf, season three and four along with Stargate's
season five.
Feb
13: Lethal Weapon IV: Not
going to happen, but during an interview with Paul Fischer Mel Gibson
was asked about a possible fourth Lethal Weapon film. His reply was
that he is surprised how much money gets thrown at him to do another
film. However, Gibson believes he is to old and can't deal with the
action stuff any more. He uses the same argument about Mad Max
4.
Feb
11: Galactica: It's finally
official that a new Battlestar Galactica series will be coming to the
Sci-Fi Channel. The first season, of 13 episodes, will take up where
the mini-series left off building of the shows characters and
situations. Ron Moore will quickly assembling his writing staff, which
should include some of his old pals from Star Trek and even Carnivale.
Moore would also enjoy finding some roles for many of the original
series cast if they are interested.
Feb
11: Wonder Woman Ruined?:
Would you really be interested in attending a feature film with Sarah
Michelle Gellar as Wonder Woman? I sure wouldn't. Besides not looking
the part, she really isn't a very good actress. Gellar is currently
being rumored as the leading candidate for the role. Wonder Woman has
been in development for over three years now. If Gellar is up for the
lead, maybe the feature should stay in development hell.
Feb
11: Las Vegas Spin-off: Could
a first year series actually be getting a spin-off? Maybe. Las Vegas,
on NBC, has already gotten a 22 episode second season commitment. Feb
16's episode has some of the series main characters heading to the
Montecito New Orleans to find a gambler owing the Montecito $5
million. This episode could be pilot for a new NBC series, likely
titled New Orleans. The episode will star Dennis Hopper.
Feb
11: Wolverine 007: The rumors
are out that Hugh Jackman is still in the running for the role of
James Bond. The producers of the James Bond films apparently believe
he could be the man for the tuxedo. Imagine Wolverine decked out in a
tux, or James Bond in a pinch sliding his claws out from under his
skin to handle the bad guys. Hugh Jackman could be a man with two hit
franchises of his own in the near future. He could be doing the
Wolverine Franchise and then stepping into the famous role of James
Bond... hey, what about Van Helsing? This guys could be the thrice
blessed man! WooHoo! (main story from moviehole.net)
Feb
11: What About Brosnan: Is
Brosnan done already as James Bond? is being in his mid-forties mean
he's done? The box office is saying different as Brosnan's latest
exploits in Die Another Day garnered over $600 million worldwide. Why
isn't another film already in pre-production with that kind of
success. Why wait until Brosnan is to old for the role. Use the man
while you can, before looking for someone else to take on the
role.
Feb
11: Star Wars Coming: As long
expected the first three Star Wars films are finally coming to DVD on
Sept 21st. These will be the special editions and NOT the theatrical
releases. The set will be sold only as a boxed set and will include a
fourth disc with never before seen making of footage.
Feb
8: Khitomer Up Again: The Khitomer.net website
is finally back online and should be updating regularly again soon. If
your dubbing your own series, or have a nack for creating custom DVD
or VCD clamshells/labels check out there site.
Feb
7: Raven: Anyone remember the
20 episode series Raven? It starred Jeffrey Meek and one Lee Majors.
Encore is actually airing the pilot right now on their Action Channel.
The pilot, Raven: Return of the Black Dragons also starred a very
young Tamlyn Tomita and TV/Movie supporting actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa
(Space Rangers, The Phantom, Walker: Texas Ranger).
Feb
7: Paris Sues: Yeah, Paris
Hilton is a real piece of work. First she does a sex tape with her
boyfriend, and has the ignorance to believe that if she makes it big,
no one else will ever see the tape. Now the internet porn star (even
if by accident) is actually filing a $30 million suit against Kahatani
Ltd. for distributing the tape. Gee, after all this time and getting
all that publicity - now it's time to sue. Here's a girl who very
little acting ability and while good looking is no beauty queen.
Loooooooser...
Feb
7: Medium: Here's a new
winner. Patricia Arquette will star in a new NBC pilot titled Medium.
It's about a girl who must learn to balance her psychic abilities and
family life. This one is a small clone similar to NBC's previous
series "The Profiler". It is a Paramount based series.
Feb
7: Enterprise Ad: Fans of the
Star Trek franchise are already attempting to save the Enterprise
series before UPN makes any decisions. This is a great thing, but
these fans should be petitioning Paramount to dump the franchises real
problems in Rick Berman and Brannon Braga - who have run the franchise
into the ground with Voyager and Enterprise. Enterprise is actually a
nice series, but B&B have destroyed any chances of getting back
the fans who left after season one. Paramount has ground the series on
a horrible night where the competition is just to tough on Enterprise,
while our boys have dumped poor storylines on the fans. Change people,
change before saving the franchise.
Feb
6: George Says No Indiana:
George Lucas has put Indiana Jones IV on hold after rejecting the
completed script from Frank Darabont. He has commissioned a new
script. Lucas has done some lousy scripting on Episode 1 & 2, so
it's probably a good thing that he isn't scripting the fourth film
himself.
Feb
6: Bewitched: Nicole has
agreed to star in the upcoming Bewitched film as Samantha Stevens
opposite Will Ferrell, who takes on the role of her mortal husband
Darrin.
Feb
6: Lost In Space: The new WB
pilot has picked up its first cast member. Newcomer Adrianne Palicki
will take on the role of Judy Robinson. (Cinescape Online) The actual
title for the series seems to be "The Robinsons: Lost In
Space". This one is loaded with executive producers... John Woo,
Doug Petrie, Jon Jashni, Terrance Change, Suzanne Zizzi, and Kevin
Burns.
Feb
5: Club Dread: Bill Paxton's
new film Club Dread has a new trailer, and official website you
can check out. Click MOVIE
TRAILER
or OFFICIAL
WEBSITE to check the features latest updates. Club Dread opens in theaters
on Feb 27th. Broken Lizard is back and surrounded by limber, wanton
women on a booze-soaked island resort owned by Coconut Pete (Bill
Paxton), a rock star has-been. But the non-stop party takes a turn for
the weird when dead bodies start turning up faster than you could
drink a rum punch. But Coconut Pete wouldn't dream of bumming out his
guests. So, while the resort-goers tan, guzzle and get their groove
on, the staff frantically attempts to figure out who is stalking them.
Feb
5: The Lighter Side of Sci-Fi: You've
seen the satire cartoon work of Tye Bourdony in Starlog and Sci-Fi
Magazines, and you'll be seeing his work here as well each week. Click
on the image for a larger picture. Visit his official website for
more.
Feb
5: MONK Returns: How popular
is MONK? I know I watch it. The ratings for Monk's return were
outstanding as the season premiere as 6.3 million viewers tuned in. In
the key 18 to 49 demographic the series earned a 2.3 rating and a cool
3.0 rating in the 25 to 54 demo. It was Monk's most watch episode to
date.
Feb
5: City of Dreams: Jimmy Smits
makes his return to television in a new action drama series for NBC,
from Jerry Bruckheimer (C.S.I.), titled "City of Dreams".
Smits will star as a slick L.A. PI who specializes in fixing the
problems of rich clients. They are waiting for NBC to greenlight the
pilot. (FutonCritic.com)
Feb
5: Perlman Injured: Ron
Perlman (Beauty & the Beast) who stars in Hellboy broke a rib
attempting to jump onto a train during the filming of an elaborate
stunt for the film. The train was coming toward Perlman at 45mph
during the stunt. Hellboy hits theaters April 2nd from director
Guillermo del Toro.
Feb
5: Alien Lockdown: The next
Sci-Fi original film premieres on the Sci-Fi Channel this Saturday at
8pm. It's theme isn't original as a scientist uses alien DNA to create
a weapon that can wipe out humanity. A covert military force is
brought it to contain the creature after it escapes and begins killing
people inside the lab.
Feb
5: Playmakers: ESPN's quality
drama football series has been put on waivers thanks to pressure from
the NFL. The series hit to close to home for the NFL, and they used
the pressure of renewal against ESPN.
Feb

Sarah Wynter will join the cast of USA Network's hit series The Dead
Zone in a recurring role. (hollywood reporter) Season three begins in
June.

was reduced to a part-time role this past season, is set to return
full-time in season 4.

photography has wrapped on the final Blade film. David Goyer, most
known for his writing, is taking his first directing gig into post

13th.
Feb
5: Alien Quadrilogy Gets Serious Head:
The Japanese are getting the most awesome DVD ever created for their
Alien Quadrilogy nine disc set. The 20th Century Fox Home Video boxed
set will come in a replica Alien Head overseas for $282.oo. It's got
to be the most impressive DVD set ever with this new addition. The
alien head doesn't look to be coming anywhere near the United States.

5: Underworld: The feature
film didn't set any box office records, and I thought the film was
outstanding. The DVD however is the number one selling DVD right now,
and the third most rented video. Hopefully there will be a sequel to
this film.

5: X-Men 2005: Patrick Stewart
told the Bradenton Herald, during a red carpet event, that fans
should expect X-Men 3 in 2005.

5: Daredevil Uncut Delayed:
The directors cut of Daredevil was slated for this year, but will now
be delayed until next year sometime. The new version is to be uncut
and feature the deleted Coolio scene, plus new commentary from
writer/director Mark Steven Johnson. Fox gave no reason for the delay.

3: Galactica In April: The
Sci-Fi Channel is only planning to shot the first six of a thirteen
episode commitment in Vancouver beginning in April. If the ratings are
strong enough, the remaining seven would be shot.

3: New A-Team: The A-Team
feature film looks to finally be moving forward. Stephen J. Cannell
tells IEB.com that this feature version will be more towards a Die
Hard type film rather than a television comedy. The A-Team will also
have better aim as people will die in the feature film. Rather than be
Vietnam vets on the run, they will be from Desert Storm.

3: 21Jump Street: This feature
version from Cannell will bring in young blood as expected, but fans
can expect appearances from many of the original cast.

3: Highlander Won't Die: Despite
three horrible sequels, and a failed Highlander: The Raven series -
another feature and series are in the works. A four-hour mini-series
is in the works, but won't star a MacCleod. It will be a MacKensie
instead. The new Highlander mini will be titled Archangel. The mini
should be going into production some time in April, with the feature
entering production in 2004 as well.

2: Karen Sisco Takes It In The Ass!:
Carla Gugino is really taking it up the ass by ABC as her television
series Karen Sisco gets canned. The network shot all kinds of sunshine
of the cast and crews ass for months telling them filming of the first
season would be completed and the show would get a second chance over
the summer, along with a new timeslot. On the cusp of starting
production on the remaining episodes ABC backed out taking the low
road... again. It is unlikely the remaining unaired episodes will see
broadcast time.

2: Las Vegas to Return: CBS
has given their first year series Las Vegas a passing grade, renewing
the series for the fall 2004 season. It ain't no Dan Tana, but the
series has been averaging over 12.3 million viewers per week. For the
18-49 demographic the series has highest ratings of any new series
this season.
Feb
2: Pixar Dumps Disney: Steve
Jobs must be singing from the highest mountain, as his animation
company has completed their deal with Disney. Jobs will NOT renew his
contract with the greedy, backstabbing company. They will now have
complete ownership of its productions. Deals will be made with other
studios soon to distribute its films in 2006. Disney has the
distribution rights to Pixars first 7 features per their current
contract.
Feb
2: Galactica 13: Aaron
Douglas, who plays Chief Petty Officer Tyrol in the mini-series told
Cinescape Online that the series is a go, and his contract calls for
him to appear in all 13 episodes. There is still no official word on
the series renewal from the Sci-Fi Channel.
