30: Star Trek Overhaul:
Paramount Television is FINALLY getting fed up with the state of the
Star Trek franchise. There are rumors within the organization that an
overhaul may be in order for Enterprise and the Star Trek franchise.
An overhaul that could mean the firing of the two biggest Trek Killers
of all, Rick Berman and Brannon Braga. Paramount Television Prez. Gary
Hart may be making changes as soon as the February sweeps are over.
Hopefully some fresh blood will be brought in to make the changes. If
smart they would bring in some scifi fans as consultants for ideas,
and storylines. Believe it or not fans are loaded with fresh new
ideas. Hey, I got mine that's for sure.
Jan
30: Indiana Jones: The script
is finally completed for the fourth Indiana Jones installment by Frank
Darabont. The film may begin filming this year, which would be correct
if they wish to get done by the 2005 release date.
Jan
30: Buck Rogers Heads to DVD:
The website TVShowsonDVD.com is reporting a rumor that Universal is
planning a DVD boxed set release of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century
for the shows 25th Anniversary later this year. The Digital
Bits website has confirmed that the discs are indeed in
production. Gil Gerard & Erin Gray have also been contacted to
record audio commentary. The boxed set would also include the movie
which started it all. No word if it will be the entire 37 episode run,
or just the 24 (including the film) episode first season...
Jan
30: Starsky & Hutch: The
classic cop show, Starsky & Hutch, is heading to DVD March 3rd.
The 5 disc boxed set first season from Columbia Tristar Home
Entertainment will MSRP for $49.95. The 22 episode set will also
include a featurette on the Ford Torino Speedster, original TV promo
spots, audio commentary and some useless shit for the comedy Starsky
& Hutch feature currently in production.
Jan
30: Playmakers: The ESPN
defunct series Playmakers, while not getting renewed at ESPN thanks to
the NFL, is getting the DVD treatment. Fans of the critically
acclaimed series can purchase the season boxed set on April 30, 2004.
The 3-disc set will be costly at $49.95.
Jan
30: Babylon 5: The final boxed
season of Babylon 5 on DVD on April 13th, 2004 with a still high MSRP
of $99.95. Should be able to get the boxed set however in the $70.oo
price range.
Jan
29: Dragon Storm: The latest
Sci-Fi Channel original film has set of few network marks. Dragon
Storm, starring Lord of the Rings actor John Ryes Davies (sliders,
Indiana Jones Trilogy) was the most watch original movie in the
networks history earning a 2.3 house hold rating (3.03 million
viewers).
Jan
29: Got Yoda?: Some moron
actually stole a limited edition bronze Yoda (one of only 36) from the
back of a delivery flatbed taking four of the statues to LA. The
statues were bolted down in the truck. The driver, who stopped for the
night discovered one missing the next morning. The rare statue is
valued at $15K to $20K. A reward is being offered of $1000 for info
leading to the recovery of Yoda. How stupid can you get. A person
could even sell the item without getting busted. For that person it
has zero value.
Jan
29: Anonymous Rex: The
Anonymous Rex telefilm is about intelligent dinosaurs living among
humans. The project was to have been a series developed for the
Sci-Fi Channel from Alliance Atlantis the SFC themselves - with a
premiere in late 2001, which did not happen. Now the Sci-Fi Channel is
going into production with a telefilm version. Sci-Fi vet Joe Menosky
is writing the script, and BBC director Julian Jarrold has signed to
to helm the telefilm. Anonymous Rex," based on a series of novels
by Eric Garcia, is scheduled to begin shooting in March. The project
has been in the cable network's development pool for over three
years.
Jan
29: Not Enough Film Work: What
do movie folks do when they don't have enough films to go around? Why
they turn to television now of course. The fall 2004 season will have
projects from known film names as well as familiar television names.
JJ Abrahms (alias), Aaron Spelling (to many to list), Mel Gibson, Joel
Silver (lethal weapon, tv's The Strip & Freedom) and John Wells
all have new series or pilots coming.
Jan
29: King Kong: Director Peter
Jackson (Lord of the Rings) has signed his leading lady for King Kong.
Actress Noami Watts also told folks that production will begin in
August. This one could be a huge bomb for Jackson.
Jan
28: UPN Goes Tru Calling: UPN
and Aaron Spelling are doing their own style Tru Calling series titled
Silver Lake. Shit, bring back Wolf Lake instead. The pilot, just
greenlighted by UPN, revolves around a record store owner who uses his
psychic abilities to communicate with the dead who still have issues
to resolve. Too many supernatural dramas coming out these days. (scifi.com)
Jan
28: Picard Retired: Patrick
Stewart has once again reported, this time to the SyFyPortal.com
website, that if the Star Trek franchise continues with feature films
it will be without him. He is finished with Star Trek. A nice
decision once the franchise goes into the toilet, walk away.
Jan
28: Affleck To Script: Ben
Affleck is writing a script similar to Good Will Hunting for himself
and Matt Damon.
Jan
27: Enterprise Moves: UPN is
moving Enterprise from its Wednesday at 8pm timeslot to 9pm. This move
was not done to help Enterprise, but to make room for UPN new stupid
animated series Game Over and the return of the Mullets. The 9pm
timeslot is just as bad for Enterprise facing the likes of Frasier,
King of Queens, The West Wing and Angel. Way to go UPN, you friggin
assholes.
Jan
27: More Hulk: After a
disappointingly horrible first Hulk film, Marvel is determined to
create a second film. Marvel's Kevin Feige promises the film will be
more action packed. Who cares. Hard to imagine anyone running back to
a theater for a chance the second film might be better.
Jan
27: Ali Baba: Doesn't look
like Sly Stallone is done making movies, even after a dismal run of
features. Up now for the Sly is a remake of Ali Baba and the 40
thieves with Cuba Gooding Jr. They are currently searching for their
leading lady, and that could be Haifa Wehbe, a Lebanon pop starlet and
local beauty. (darkhorizons.com)
Jan
27: The Longest Yard: Every
movie remembers the awesome Burt Reynolds flick, The Longest Yard.
Unfortunately Paramount has signed Adam Sandler to star in the remake.
He will play Paul Crewe with the likes Snoop Dog & Chris Rock
offered roles to star as two of his team mates. Paramount will
co-produce this box office bomb with Columbia Pictures. The extra
roles are to be filled with former and current NFL players. Sounds
like Necessary Roughness all over again.
Jan
27: Matrix No Threat: One of
the most anticipated series of 2003 is no TV threat. ABC's Threat
Matrix has stumbled and bumbled its way through most of this season.
ABC had picked up the series for a full season, but now trims the
first season down to just 16 episodes. The series is not canceled yet,
and ABC is still considering the show for its 2004 season.
Jan
27: Namor: The project is
slowly moving along. Universal Pictures has started conceptual artwork
for the feature about Prince Namor: The Submariner (Marvels equal to
Aquaman). Kevin Feige told the Comics Continuum website that they have
just gotten the second revision of the script and its spectacular.
Jan
27: Time Tunnel: Fans of
the series can look forward to watching the series on the pay per view
Encore Channel come June, 2004. The series will be uncut and yes,
digital if you have digital cable.
Jan
26: Spears Gets The Dukes: The
hot rumor concerning Britney Spears comes with word that she is
apparently the front runner to play Daisy Duke, in the upcoming
feature
Dukes of Hazzard, which is based on the television series. Imagine the
roles she could land if she could actually act.
Jan
26: Fuckin' Paramount: What is
up with UPN and Paramount? The claim to care so much about the Star
Trek Franchise, yet they let it get crushed on one of the worst nights
on television. The competition is unbelievable, but rather than move
Enterprise and Jake 2.0, Jake is axed and the Trek is left alone with
only stupid model bimbos to follow. Why not swap the shows with
Thursday night wrestling. That would be better Wednesday comp, and
give Enterprise and Jake a chance. Time for UPN to disappear. The
friggin' stepchild of CBS and Viacom. This network has yet to move
series around to improve the audience.
Jan
26: New Star Wars Series?:
Just might be happening. A proposed series to take place after episode
III and before episode IV. It is unknown however, if the series would
be another animated project, or live action. A live-action series
would be very cool in syndication.
Jan
26: Scooby Doo: 25 episodes of
the original Scooby Doo animated series is hitting DVD on March 11th,
2004. The MSRP is $64.98, but you should be able to locate a set
around $45 to $50.
Jan
22: Cameron Ready to Roll:
After six years from doing feature films James Cameron has announced
to Variety that he is ready to return with a new Sci-Fi film using
high-definition 3D cameras. While not talking about any particulars
Cameron did say the film would be a big budget science fiction film
with a pile of special effects. 3D? Just make film already.
Jan
22: Enterprise: The
relationship between Commander Tucker and T'Pol may finally be taking
off according to Connor Trinnear, who plays Tucker. (scifi wire)
Jan
22: Khitomer.net Update: The DVD/VCD download website for television
series and mini-series should be back online with their new server
very soon. They have received enough money and hardware donations for
one server, and are working on a second. Once they have uploaded all
the software and material the site should be back up. KHITOMER.NET.
If you're creating your own DVD or VCD library this is the site for
clamshells and labels.
Jan
22: Noble Pass Away: Character
actor Noble Willingham has passed away. The actor played in such films
as City Slickers I & II, Star Trek the Next Generation, Walker:
Texas Ranger (as C.D. McCall), The Last Boy Scout, Ace Ventura Pet
Detective, The Howling, Tales From the Crypt, The A-Team, and Quantum
Leap among many other roles. Rest in Peace.
Jan
22: Galactica 6: Cinescape
Online has scooped the news that the Sci-Fi Channel has given
Battlestar Galactica a six episode commitment. Most of the original
mini-series cast will be returning. The biggest scare for the network
is the cost per episode, which lead to the cancellation of the
networks best series "Farscape". They should be doing
six two-hour telefilms rather than taking Galactica into the hourly
format. They were successful using the format, why not stick with it.
Jan
22: Mutant X Continues: The
Tribune Entertainment Group has renewed its Mutant X series for a
third season. Mutant X is the only first run drama series airing
exclusively in syndication.
Jan
22: Animated Trek: Want the animated Star Trek series on DVD?
Paramount doesn't know why anyone would. Star
Trek.com is now gauging fan interest in getting the complete 22
episodes on DVD. Head on over and let them know you want the series
released on DVD format. You'll find the question at the very bottom of
the page. The site didn't make it easy to find.
Jan
22: Frankenstein Turns Weekly:
The USA Network is resurrecting Dr.Frankenstein and his monster for
another go around. This time as a weekly series from Martin Scorsese
and writer Dean Koontz as they team up with director Marcus Nispel and
producer Tony Krantz. The series will take place in present day
Seattle. The good doctor has survived through his own genetic
tinkering.
Jan
22: She Spies: The babe trio,
She Spies, is taking over the syndicated ratings slowly. The second
year series is currently rated second with a 2.2 share with only
Andromeda sitting on top at 2.3. A ass hugging third at 2.1 is Mutant
X with repeats of Stargate SG-1 also at 2.1. MGM is currently
marketing the series for a third season, but no official pick-up has
been announced. The ratings are excellent and the series should be
picked up.
Jan
22: Century City: The
futuristic law show "Century City" takes place in the year
2030. It debuts for six weeks beginning March 16th, Tuesdays at 9pm on
CBS. The new series will use science fiction storylines to deal with
modern day problems.
Jan
22: King Conan, Is No King:
The troubled King Conan feature is hitting a few more problems as the
Wachowski brothers have left the project. They would have produced the
film with Milius writing and directing. The Wachowski's left on their
own after constantly arguing with Milius over the films direction and
tone. The project is at Warner Bros and Milius is still intent on
getting the project off the ground. Wrestler Triple H is the front
runner to star in the film. (IGN Filmforce)
Jan
22: Andromeda: The fifth and
final season of the series will still air in syndication despite
airing on the Sci-Fi Channel. The episodes will air in syndication 7
to 10 days after airing on the SFC with an encore showing. The
syndicated market is approx 85% of the television markets in the
United States (140 stations)
Jan
21: Carnivale: HBO's series
Carnivale is up for two nominations in the ASC's three catagories. The
American Society of Cinematographers awards show will take place
Sunday, Feb. 8th
Jan
21: Another Dark Shadows: The
WB is bringing back another attempt at the 1960's "Dark
Shadows" remake. They have hired John Wells, from the West Wing
and ER, to develop the new series. They dumped Buffy years ago, and
now want a second vampire series again. Nice.
Jan
21: Charmed: Boo-Delicious
checked in with Charmed news that the WB has officially given the
greenlight for season 7. While many shows become stagnant after seven
seasons, if Charmed remains the same in the ratings the show will
continue. I lost interest in the show after Shannon Doherty left.
Milano spends most of the show in tight shirts showing off her
knockers while carrying the lesbian hairdo. She looks horrible this
season. To little hair and to many tattoos.
Jan
21: Galactica A GoGo?: Looks
like the mini has become a full blown series. The Vancouver
based-teamsters Local 155 has listed a production office for
Battlestar Galactica season one on their website. (Hollywood North
Report) the SFC has yet to make any official announcement on the shows
status. They have ten more days to make it official or the actors
walk.
Jan
21: AvsP Gets Weller: Robocop
star Peter Weller (and now B actor) has joined the cast of Alien vs
Predators according to a source at AICN. Weller will play Yutani of
the Weyland-Yutani company. Billionaire brothers running the greedy
company.
Jan
21: Disney Screws Employees:
In a typical Disney fuck up, they will be closing their Florida based
animation studio. Disney of course used the standard best strategy for
business in the short and long term line of bull-shit. (VFXPro.com)
Jan
21: Potter Gets Expensive: The
fourth Harry Potter film is costing $30 million more than the third
Lord of the Rings did to make. The fourth Potter film will be budgeted
at $130 million.
Jan
20: 2.0 Equals Zero: UPN has
had enough of the shows sub 2.0 ratings and finally pulled the plug on
the struggling series. The crew was told on the 15th that production
will be halted immediately and pulled from the networks current
schedule. There are at least four more episodes already in the can. If
not aired in the summer, fans can hope that the series will end up on
the SFC. A useless campaign to save the show has been started by the
series five fans.
Jan
20: R.D. Anderson Done: Lead
actor Richard Dean Anderson has told fans that he will help launch
Stargate: Atlantis by appearing in the pilot, which is being filmed
concurrently with the final season of Stargate SG-1. With the
final SG-1's airing, Anderson will walk into the sunset retiring from
show business. The article by Yahoo also states that the series will
end this year, the series 8th season. There was to have been a ninth
season to air alongside Stargate: Atlantis. That may be a misprint on
their part.
Jan
20: 4400: Three Deep Space
Nine alumns from behind the camera are joining together to create the
USA Networks six hour mini-series "4400"
(click link to learn about the mini). Robert H. Wolfe (Andromeda)
along with Rene Echevarria and Steven Behr will mix it up producing,
writing and showrunning with mini-series creator Scott Peters. One of
the producers is Francis Ford Coppola, whose television credits
include First Wave. The mini-series will air sometime during the
summer of 2004, with production beginning next month.
Jan
20: Enterprise On Red Alert:
With the cancellation of Jake 2.0, which UPN and Paramount, after
being told they were safe, the rumors on the set of Enterprise are
flying fast and hard. The latest on set scuttle is that UPN could be
moving Enterprise to a new timeslot followed by cancellation and
possibly shopping the series to another network or taking the series
into syndication. (cinescape.com)
Jan
20: Fantastic Astin: Sean
Astin (Lord of the Rings, Rudy, and The Goonies) is in the running to
actual direct the loooong anticipated Fantastic Four feature from
Marvel Comics. The original script done years ago was a favorite of
the studio but would have cost well over $300 million to make has been
in the rewrite mode for at least three years now. Also on the list to
helm includes George Clooney, who continues to star in films that make
little cash at the box office.
Jan
20: More C.S.I.: How long can
you keep creating new hit shows from one theme. It worked for Law and
Order creating three distinct series, and now CBS is hammering out
another C.S.I. series. With the success of C.S.I. and C.S.I.: Miami
comes C.S.I.: New York. I can't wait until C.S.I.: Bumfuck
Egypt. The new series, theirs and not mine, will be part of next
seasons line-up.
Jan
20: Family Guy A Go: Creator
Seth McFarlane has confirmed that The Family Guy will indeed be
returning to television with new episodes. He just doesn't know when.
Jan
15: Stargate & Jeremiah:
In the new boxed sets of Stargate SG-1, fans will be getting a free
Jeremiah DVD. MGM's way of introducing many possible new fans to the
series and a prelude to the new DVD Jeremiah boxed sets. Nice.
Hopefully Scifi2k.com will be getting a set or two to give-a-way this
time around from MGM. Keep checking back.
Jan
15: Babylon 5 Give-A-Way: It's

stunning boxed set. All you have to do is send me an email with

thru Feb 15th. Enter today to win. It's on sale at Amazon for $69.99.
You could get one who gets it for free!
Jan
15: Andromeda Comes to SFC:
Tribune Entertainment has finally inked a deal to bring it dismal
Andromeda television series to the Sci-Fi Channel. Season Five of
Andromeda will be the LAST for the series, and will be a Sci-Fi
Original Series rather than finishing up as a syndicated entity. This
season, its fourth, will become available to the SFC beginning in
March - which includes the previous 66 episodes from the first three
seasons.
Jan
15: Beastmaster Too: The new
deal with the Sci-Fi Channel for Andromeda includes the three seasons
of Tribune's Other series The Beastmaster (which is already available
in seasonal DVD boxed sets).
Jan
15: Fearless Dropped: You were
warned the series was horribly stupid. The WB finally agrees with news
that Fearless has been cancelled before it aired. After nothing but
criticism over the pilot by Journalists, and yours truly the WB
decided it was something that could not be fixed.
Jan
15: Babylon 5 Scores: The new
season four boxed set of Babylon 5 is the number five selling Sci-Fi
DVD. It Follows the likes of Two Towers Extended Version, Pirates of
the Carribean (not really scifi), Finding Nemo (Not Sci-Fi), and
Fellowship of the Rings Extended Version. This is proof that
Babylon 5 is not dead and fans want a new project, feature film or
television.
Jan
15: Bewitched: Jim Carrey has
apparently dropped from the role of Darrin in the upcoming Bewitched
feature starring Nicole Kidman. Next up for the role is Will Farrell
(Elf, Old School).
Jan
15: Johnny Quest: Warner Bros
may possibly be preparing to release the Johnny Quest animated series
to DVD. The folks over at Digital Bits.com have a good source that
confirms it could be happening. (digitalbits.com)
Jan
12: Lost In Space: The first
season of Lost in Space is out on DVD. 29 uncut first season episodes
with a few extras thrown in. The Boxed Set is running for a mere
$54.99 at retailers now. Yes, that is a bit expensive for a series
that wasn't high on the Sci-Fi fans list of wants... like maybe
Logan's Run, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Space Above &
Beyond, Misfits of Science, V: The Series, Alien Nation and many
others. What boxed sets would you like - The Crow: Stairway to
Heaven, M.A.N.T.I.S., Airwolf, Automan, Ark II, Jason of Star Command,
Adventures Inc., The Lost World, Adventures of Jules Verne, Beauty
&the Beast, The Flash, Time Trax, Viper, Nowhere Man, Highlander
the Raven, Something Is Out There, Seven Days, Werewolf, Six Million
Dollar Man, The Bionic Woman, The Burning Zone, Miami Vice, Brimstone,
PREY, Conan the Series, The Chronicle, Dark Skies, Early Edition, The
Pretender, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat (a classic), FX the Series,
First Wave, Freddy's Nightmares, Friday the 13th the series, Good vs
Evil, Greatest American Hero, Man From Uncle, The Green Hornet, Jack
of All Trades, and many many more. Many of these aren't on anyone's
list. The biggest problems comes down to the studios overpricing the
boxed sets so fans won't purchase them.
Jan
12: Cruise Goes For World: Tom
Cruise is acting as if he is suddenly interested in doing a remake of
War of the Worlds. As if this is a new revolution that suddenly came
to him. Actually the actor and Paramount have been working on this for
a while. First they had to fuck over an independent production company
working on such a project before officially announcing their plans to
do the same film. Nice, real nice.
Jan
12: Twilight Zone: The New
Twilight Zone repeats are returning to television in half hour or back
to back half-hour segments in about 75% of the television market. The
22 episode series originally aired on UPN last season. Picking up the
show include Tribune, WPIX of New York, KCAL/KCBS in LA, and WGN
Chicago among others.
Jan
12: Die Hard 4: The studio and
Willis are ready to do the fourth and final installment. However, the
script must be a good one worth doing. (USA Today)
Jan
12: Cave: Second & third
director of the last two Matrix films, Bruce Hunt, will make his
directorial debut for the Screen Gems/ Lakeshore Entertainment horror
feature CAVE. Starring in the film will be Cole Hauser from
Pitch Black. The Story - a group of expert cave explorers who find
themselves trapped in a deep-sea cave collapse and who mysteriously
mutate into primeval beings.
Jan
12: More Zorro?: The feature
is actually in pre-production and everyone is back. Banderas tells
Coming Soon that the script is awesome. Much better than the first
one. Come April of 2004 this one should be going into
production.
Jan
9: Bourne To Rent: The Bourne
Identity, starring Matt Damon, wasn't a great action flick to pay
$8.50, or more, at the box office. It was however an action renters
dream movie. For 2003 The Bourne Identity was the number one rented
movie on DVD & VHS - taking in an impressive $79.2 million. Second
and third in the rentals were the not so great DiCaprio (and
Spielberg) flick with $75.5 million, and M. Night Shyamalan's boring
Mel Gibson flick "Signs" with $74.9 million. The Bourne
Identity has done so well in rental format that a sequel looks to be
happening.
Jan
9: Enterprise Copies Voyager:
If you really want to know why the Star Trek franchise is dying, here
is a good reason - Lack of Originality. Wednesday's upcoming episode
titled Doctors Orders, has the entire crew sedated as they traverse a
dangerous portion of the expanse with the doctor and T'Pol being
awake. Isn't this similar to the idea to the Voyager episode where the
crew is sedated with only Seven awake as Voyager traverses a portion
of space on the way back to Earth? Sure the hell sounds like it to
me.
Jan
9: No Sweeps For Enterprise:
Always the same. Paramount and that Dynamic Duo of Dummies (Berman
& Braga aka "Triple D") have scheduled zero special
guest stars for Sweeps week. Not to surprising as this bunch has done
little to save the series or the franchise from stagnation.
Jan
8: Earthsea: The Sci-Fi
Channel has given the greenlight to a four-hour mini-series titled
Earthsea. Earthsea follows the tale of a reckless youth destined to
become the greatest sorcerer that the mystical land of Earthsea has
ever known. When the young wizard Ged discovers that he possesses
infinite magical powers, he seeks to master the ancient arts. As he
journeys to manhood, he will combat dragons, fall in love, cross
death’s threshold, and ultimately wield the power to reunite a
kingdom. Earthsea is produced by Hallmark Entertainment and Bender
Brown Productions, on a script from Gavin Scott. Producers for the
mini-series are Robert Halmi Sr., Kevin Brown and Lawrence Bender.
Earthsea is based on the novel from Ursula K. Le Guin. (Futon Critic).
Jan
8: 4400: The USA has given the
greenlight to a new series from Deepspace Nine's Rene Encheverria and
Ira Behr along with Francis Ford Coppola's production company. 4400
centers on individuals who go missing and turn up, reincarnated of
sorts, on Earth. The pilot episode surrounds a murder involving one of
the 4400s, which prompts a government agency to form in order to track
these superhuman-like beings. The 4400s will appear unaged since their
disappearance or death but possess strange healing powers. Repeats of
the series could appear on the Sci-Fi Channel as well.
Jan
8: Scooby Doo 3?: Man, the
first one was horrible, and the sequel has yet to scare into theaters.
Now comes word that Linda Cardellini, who plays Velma, is already
signed for a third feature. Scooby II hits theaters March 26th.
Jan
8: New Give-A-Ways Soon:
Coming soon will be two give-a-ways from Scifi2k.com. Warner Bros will
be donating the Box Set of it's Babylon 5 season 4 and MGM will
gracious donate a box set or two of Season 5's Stargate SG-1, which
will include a Jeremiah Disc also. Look for it to happen soon. Thanks.
Jan
8: Greenfield's Got Sound:
Douglas Greenfield, the sound consultant on numerous films including
"Alien 3" and "Jurassic Park," will be honored
with the John A. Bonner Medal of Commendation by the Academy of Motion
Picture Art and Sciences. The Bonner award recognizes Greenfield's
contribution to the Academy and the world of films since the late
1970s. He's been an active member of the Academy for many years and is
a member of the newly created Science and Technology Council, a
committee formed by the Academy to monitor the current state of
technological arts.
Jan
8: Firefly: Joss Whedon had
completed the script for the proposed Firefly feature film. He
believes the film has a good chance of getting done, but that it may
not happen at all. The Firefly script was the hardest writing he has
ever done.
Jan
8: Crowe In With Howard: Never
break up a winning team right? Sure looks that way for Ron Howard and
Russell Crowe. The two seem to be on a role together, and now Crowe is
negotiating with Howard to star in his next feature film, The DaVinci
Code. Crowe is already in production with director Ron Howard in
Cinderella Man.
Jan
8: Batman Ice's It Up: Looks
like the new Batman will be spending at least two-weeks filming up in
Iceland, fairly soon.
Jan
8: CSI Goes Into Attack Mode:
CBS has put its hit series C.S.I. into attack mode against NBC's new
series The Apprentice on Wednesday night. This means that the
fledgling series first two weeks will be pitted against CBS' number
one product. This also means that Enterprise and Smallville, on UPN
and the WB respectively, could take some serious damage in the ratings
as well.
Jan
6: Galactica Gets Prepped:
Executive Producer Ronald Moore is prepping Battlestar Galactica for a
run at being a new series. However, Moore tells the SyFyPortal Website
that the shows status is still up in the air. Discussions are still
underway with the network, and the major actors contracts have been
extended through January. Moore's been working on the shows bible
along with the first few episodes. The Sci-Fi Channel is anxious for
the series, but needs to understand the what the economic implications
will be for them. He seems positive the series will be picked up. He
has decided NOT to return to HBO's Carnivale in its second season to
concentrate on development of new projects and on BSG. With an
ensemble cast, even of mostly newcomers, and the heavy special effects
the series will be costly. Likely more the Stargate SG-1, the SFC's
flagship series, and not likely to garner equivalent rating numbers.
Why not just do two-hour movies rather than a weekly series. The
numbers would work much better for budget as well as ratings.
Jan
6: Lord of Dollars: Return of
the King has already made $291 million domestically. That's just $50
million from the total made by The Two Towers.
Jan
6: Enterprise: What fans are
being treated to this season is what the first season should have
been. If Berman and Braga had pulled their heads out of their
collective asses earlier, the fifth Star Trek series would not be
struggling to get the greenlight for season four. Thanks guys... you
assholes.

6: Hobbit trouble: United
Artist and New Line Cinema are bickering about distribution rights to
the Hobbit. New Line owns the film rights, but UA owns the

Tolkien's great grandson Royd, who's 34, would love to see his
grandfather's vision come to an end with Jackson helming the Hobbit
film.

1: Jolie In Egypt: Angelina
Jolie had taken blankets, winter clothing and toys to a refugee camp
in Egypt. She has also pledged $20,000 to build a health center for
the camp. This is great and all. But why don't these Hollywood
types start helping the homeless and destitute here in the good ol
United States? Everyone believes there are tons of free stuff
available for the struggling here in the States. This is a load of
shit. Some people just need a place to start to get back on their
feet. If you don't have children, you generally aren't entitled to
anything. Time for these people in Hollywood making millions from US
and Canada residents to give a little more back to the country which
made them rich.

1: Disney Steals Another One:
It's a never ending story with Disney and the way they do business. In
1995 a French Writer came up with the fish character called, "Pierrot
Le Poisson Clown", which has an uncanny resemblence to Disney's
NEMO. Clown fish, including many story ideas. Disney has of course
taken the high road and denied the lawsuit. Disney, you SUCK!

1: When Divas Attack: Does anyone
really give a good shit if singers like Christina Aguilera and Britney
Spears are feuding in a music magazine? This should be something on
the Discovey Channel, like their Shark series. Unless these to
bombshells are lip locked and
rolling around naked together I don't think anyone cares. Just two
spoiled
brats. Boo fucking hoo.
