AUGUST 31: SciFi Channel: Possible series/movie about a Female Werewolf Adventures titled "Force of Nature" may appear this season.

AUGUST 31: NBC 's 'Leprechauns',a four hour mini series will air November 7 &   8 stars Whoopie Goldberg, Randy Quaid, and Kieran Culkin. Directed by Nick Willing and scripted by Peter Barnes.

AUGUST 30: Patrick Stewart, is busy doing work with TNT this season. His voice will be used in TNT's movie 'Animal Farm', and then will star in TNT's 'A Christmas Carol'

AUGUST 30: Speilberg-Dreamworks TV has produced a 20 hour miniseries, "TAKEN" for the Sci-Fi Channel, regarding the history of alien abduction. To air in July of 2000.

AUGUST 30: Kevin Sorbo soon to be ex-Hercules hero will portray Captain Dylan Hunt on "Gene Roddenberry's" new series "ANDROMEDA" previously titled "Phoenix Rising".

AUGUST 28: Confirmed new shows for the fall include, Roswell, The Lost World (looks cheesey), Relic Hunter, Amazon (looks good), Now and Again, Secret Agent Man (pushed back by UPN), &  the Beastmaster (will not star Marc Singer) is syndicated. And yes there will be quite a few others. But nothing confirmed for sure yet. At least no commercials avertising the shows.

AUGUST 28: Profiler star Ally Walker will depart the show after the second episode this season and be replaced by Jamie Luner (Melrose Place). Luner will be introduced in the season premiere.

AUGUST 28: The Kingdom, a 10 hr epic, will air in February, and NBC's 4 hr special, Jason and the Argonauts, on April 30 & May 1st. The same night that ABC will air their Arabian Nights which will star Jason Scott Lee and new X-Men's star Dougray Scott.

AUGUST 27: Top Nine SciFi Shows: Not in order sorry. Voyager, Seven Days, Buffy, X-files, Pretender, Charmed, Futurama,  3rd Rock and Early Edition.

AUGUST 27: The Green Mile: by Stephen King is rated as an 9 on a scale of ten. Movie stars Tom Hanks, David Morse, Bonnie Hunt, Micheal Jeter, Patricia Clarkson, Micheal Duncan, & Sam Rockwell.

AUGUST 26Total Recall 2: Jonathan Frakes will direct Arnold in this sequel as soon as his schedule is free.

AUGUST 26: SHAFT: Samuel L. Jackson get the lead in this remake after being passed on by Wesley Snipes & Will Smith (who was offered $20M to star). This one is now in production.

AUGUST 26: Universal: Planning to begin preproduction of "A Bride of Frankenstein" remake.

AUGUST 25: BLADE RUNNER SEQUELMight start production as early as this fall. (rumor)

AUGUST 24: Planet of the Apes: Shake up in work by Micheal Bay who is interested in a teen friendly cast for the leading roles. Fox wants a 2001 release, with Stan Winston doing the SFX. The budget is speculated at $100M to $140M (oct. cinescape)

AUGUST 23:  New Movie Preview Ratings. Out of a possible 10.  End of Days 6, the World is Not Enough 7, Toy Story 2 8, Man in the Moon (Carrey comedy) 8, Sleepy Hollow 6, Bone Collector 4, and Fight Club 8.

AUGUST 23: Wizard of OZ movies:  two unique cuts of this movie are in work. "Wicked" will star Demi Moore as the Wicked Witch fo the West, while "Pamela West" will star Drew Barrymore in the same character. These are new approaches to the film which portray the witches as the innocent victim.

AUGUST 22:  Cube: Budget on this scifi channel movie & theatrical release was $500K and with a better ending would have been a decent movie.

AUGUST 22: Rober Downy Jr., age 34 was sentenced to 3 years in prison for parol violation.

AUGUST 22: Scream 3 previewed at 8 out of 10 at a recent screening. Stars Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette & Parker Posey. The $40M sequel has been declared by director Wes Craven. "That is it. No more sequels". I say...  Sure, if it makes $100M there will be another one.

AUGUST 22: Elizabeth Shue tore her achillies tendon causing a temporary shutdown of Paul Verhoeven's invisibility epic "The Hollow Man".

AUGUST 21:PAX TV is doing Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century with a robot Dr. Watson for 26 initial episodes. Exact dates are unknown.

AUGUST 21: Rutger Hauer is back again as the bad guy in ABC's 10 hr mini-series "The 10th Kingdom". A $40M epic with John Laurroquette and Kimberly Williams as father and daughter caught in a parallel universe where snow white, cenderella, and others really live.

AUGUST 21: Battlestar Galactica movie: Glen Larson ready for production of his $50M movie w/ 1/3rd of that for special effects. (scifi channel) Richard Hatch told NO by Universal executives about box office movie. So he asked about a rom game, or television movie and is waiting to hear back. (scifi channel)

AUGUST 21: Mad Max 4: Mel Gibson now interested in portray Mad Max again. #4 to take Max in a new direction.

AUGUST 20: Final Fantasy Movie: CGI movie with a $70M budget. They have secured the voices of Alec Baldwin, James Woods, Donald Sutherland, Steve Buscemi. Due for a 2001 release.

AUGUST 20: Movie Money MakersSWPM $419M, Austin Powers $199M, Wild Wild West $110M, Blair Witch $80M, The Haunting $78M, Inspector Gadget $65M, Deep Blue Sea $46M, and Lake Placid $29M. The last two movies are better movies than many others in front of them. Give them a chance and check them out. I enjoyed them both. If you willing to see Blair Witch and the Haunting spend the money for these two.

AUGUST 20: Doc Savage: Arnold Swartzenegger has sign to portray the Man of Bronze on the big screen. Budget is said to be in the $100M range.

AUGUST 20: Computer Chip update: The New AMD K7 is 30% faster chip speed than the equivilent PIII. It also has a 200mhz front bus to PIII's 100mhz and has 128K on the chip as well. The bottleneck for the K7 is the present graphics cards. The K7 has more potential to hit the 1gb chip speed over the PIII. Nice work AMD. That should be my next chip. Complete systems with the K7-550 for $1300. Impressive.

AUGUST 19: TBS: SciFi flick 'Time Shifters' will star Casper Van Dien & JAG's Catherine Bell. Movie follows a tabloid journalist who notices the same man in photos of many distasters throughout history.

AUGUST 19: BUFFY: star Gellar signs a mid to high six figure deal with Maybelline. (entertainment weekly)

AUGUST 19: James Cameron, director: spends $4.5M for 6900sqft home and 100 acres in Santa Barbara, Ca. Includes lagoon style swimming pool, stables and barn. Awesome tax deal with it being on a preserve. (entert. weekly)

AUGUST 18: ABC-TV: Dinotopia books adapted into a six-hour miniseries. Live action, animatronics, & cgi. Budgeted forabout $50M. Will be filmed in New Zealand, Mongolia, & the Gobi Desert and will premiere 2001

AUGUST 18: WB : Developing DC comic hero, Jonah Hex for TV. A hard bitten wild west gunman who regularly encounters strange phenomena, and also finds himself traveling in time.

AUGUST 18: Death Race 3000. Tom Cruise has bought the rights to Roger Cormans epic movie "Death Race 2000" Cruise will produce and not star. The title was changed from 2k to 3k.

AUGUST 17: The CROW, STH: update 4: At the recent San Diego Convention. Pressman who was in attendance told the 30,000 attendees that he has acquired the rights to the show from Universal. The original cast will be returning. But NOT until the fall of 2000. Not enough time to get it in this fall.  (from convention attendee Jeff Most)

AUGUST 17: Mortal Kombat:Conquest  was cancelled but producers of the show may be moving it to cable. They already have the rights to the show.

AUGUST 17: SOF (Special Ops Force) has joined the list of shows in the scrap heap. It will not be back next season.

AUGUST 17: Jedi Master, Liam Neeson update: said he spoke in anger and  he will not be retiring. But he did say that you will NEVER see him at a Star Wars convention.  What a bone head!

AUGUST 17: Dungeons & Dragons Movie: to star Jeremy Irons as the villian & includes Justin Whalin, Bruce Payne, Thomas Birch, Marion Wayans, & Kristen Wilson.

AUGUST 17: STAR TREK: TV/MOVIES: No more Patrick Stewart. Rumors abound that Paramount will be dumping middle-aged baggage and inflated salaries like Stewart's $14M salary & creative control over the film series. READ MORE in Movie News.

  AUGUST 16: VOYAGER: Will have 2 full length features this season. One will involve the crew awakening an ancient war like race from hibernation. Voyager will have to put them back. They use slug weapons and are only capable of warp 2. Sort of early edition Borgs.

AUGUST 16: Lord of the Rings: Update 2: Elijah Wood will play "Frodo Baggins" and it is rumored Sean Astin will play "Sam Gamgee" and Jude Law as Legolas. Anthony Hopkins turned down the role of Gandolph as did Sean Connery. This is due to the 14 month filming schedule with no breaks. This allows no time for more than the one movie over that time. And big name actors don't want to give   up that time.

AUGUST 16: Space Cowboys: To star Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, and James Garner as retired pilots brought back to active duty by NASA for an emergency space mission involving a satellite that is in trouble. Also to star James Cromwell, and Donald Sutherland.

AUGUST 15: X-Men update 3. Halle Barry is signed to play "Storm".  Rebecca, ex-sports illus star, Romjin-Stamos will play the Villainess "Mystique" and Maria Bello will play "Jean Grey".

AUGUST 15: VOYAGER: UPN will be editing first run episodes from 44 minutes to 42 minutes for more commercials. So it won't be just for reruns as people were thinking. (sept starburst)

AUGUST 15: MATRIX, two sequels are go. Keanu Reeves has signed for two sequels. Both will be filmed simultaneously with only a few months between releases. The first sequel will include a cliffhanger.

AUGUST 15: the CROW:STH update 3. Pressman has reported that Universal is giving him a hard time getting the rights to the show. But he also feels he will have them soon. So, cross those fingers. (dreamwatch 60)

AUGUST 15: FARSCAPE, has been reportedly purchased by the BBC for their new channel for run in the autumn. SciFi Channel will get first repeat rights after BBC2 has shown the 22 eps. (sept starburst)

AUGUST 10: big screen movie Texas Rangers, has signed on James Van Der Beek in the lead role.

AUGUST 10: Cat People Remake. Rafael Moreau has been tapped by Will Smith's Production company to write a second remake of the film for Universal.

AUGUST 9: Journey To The Center of the Earth  USA Network, September 14th & 15th. 8pm-10pm. Mini-series produced by Hamlin-Entertainment. Stars, Treat Williams, Jeremy London, Tessa Wells, Bryan Brown, and Petra Yared. Predicted to be a winner.

  AUGUST 9: BLADE 2  in production. Possibly due to theatres at Christmas or summer of next year.

AUGUST 9: Ghostbusters III, Interest in a possible 3rd installment increasing. Possibly due to re-release sales of Ghostbusters I & II.

AUGUST 9: SciFi Channel Original Movies, for Nov. Airing  ' Laserhawk ' & ' Velocity '

AUGUST 9: Universal Studios Projectsis planning new versions of 'Invisible Man', 'Phantom of the Opera' & 'Creature From the Black Lagoon'.

AUGUST 8: UPN Thursday Night Movie is moving to Friday nights as " Blockbuster Videos Shockwave Cinema " this fall with all new genre type movies. Thursday nights get the new UPN Wrestling Lineup.

AUGUST 8: UPN's "Secret Agent Man" is being pushed back to mid-season to give extra time for the creation of Special Effects and the high-tech gadgets. Was to premiere Sept 14 at 9pm. Still listed on UPN site as a fall premiere.

AUGUST 7: Dragon Riders of Pern series, A one hour series based on the books is scheduled to begin filming in February of 2000. Alliance has world wide distribution rights. Nothing yet on who will star in the seires.

AUGUST 7ALIEN V update:   Joss Whendon who penned Alien Ressurrection has turned down 20th Century Fox's offer to do 'Alien V'. He was not happy with what they did to his script and how Alien Ressurrection turned out.  He will be helping with the X-Men script for Bryan Singer.

AUGUST 7: WONDER WOMAN: Actress Sandra Bullock is interested in portarying the superhero on the big screen.

AUGUST 7: TBS has bought the rights for Deep Blue Sea at $15 to $20M.  HBO has locked up the cable rights to the movie.

AUGUST 5: Sentinel, Hercules, and Outer Limits come to the SciFi Channel in September of 99. Check the Scifi Channel website for more details and exact air dates. Hey, how come they never showed "The Nowhere Man"?

AUGUST 4: Spiderman Movie - Cameron has passed and director Ron Howard is interested in a shot at the webslinger.

AUGUST 4Indiana Jones & the Lost Continent fourth movie. Script accepted. Now schedules must coincide for movie to be made. Not until 2003 at the earliest. Three to five years.

AUGUST 1How the Grich Stole Christmas. Comedy actor Jim Carrey will portray the Grinch in the live action movie. He has turned down the lead role for 'The Incredible Mr. Limpet".  Rumored to star in that is either Robin Williams or Mike Myers.

AUGUST 1: Battlefield Earth UPDATEForrest Whitaker and Barry Pepper will costar with John Travolta. The film is currently shooting in Montreal. (sept. starlog)  Movie is only the first half of the book. Sequel talks with Travolta are already being discussed to conclude the book.

AUGUST: DEEP BLUE SEA 
hit the theatres Wednesday, July 28. This movie is a three out of five stars. Great action, and special effects. A few "Oh yeah, a shark could do that." things. But overall, a very enjoyable movie. A smart shark is a dangerous thing. Three of them is even worse! Go see this one! Just enjoy the movie and don't worry so much about the basic storyline. Action, action, and some more action.
