True Review:

I was amazed as well as excited to find a copy of the film in my mailbox yesterday from Josh Hadley. You can check out Josh's website at... Josh Hadley

From: New Line Cinema
Director: Jim Isaac
Written by: Todd Farmer
Producers: Noel Cunningham, Sean Cunningham, and Jim Isaac.
Stars:  Lexa Doig, Lisa Ryder, Chuck Campbell, Jonathan Potts, Peter Mensah, Melyssa Ade, Melody Johnson, Phillip Williams, Derwin Jordan, Dov Tiefenbach, and of course Kane Hodder as Jason.

Digital Effects: Toybox

Filming Note: Only one scene had to be cut to stay away from an 'R' rating. It was a scene when Jason rips through the hull and one female passenger is sucked through the hole. Writer Todd Farmer also gets into the act with a small part as a bald marine who gets his head bashed in by Jason.

Jason X: Better Than the Rest:

After ten films there is little surprise as to what is going to happen. It now becomes how will you package the events to keep the fans interested. By taking the slay-master into the future and off the earth Jason now has new life in what could lead to more adventures.

The Earth is decimated into a barren wasteland unable to support life. There, frozen for over four hundred years within the depth of the earth a research team discovers Jason frozen in a cryo-chamber. (Hanging, lethal injection, electrocution and firing squad did not work), After the expected thaw and re-animation Jason gets a ship load of personnel to take out. The hockey masked murderer of co-eds wastes little time acclimating to his new environment. Jason is nothing but business as usual, first taking out the military team on board, and then begins stalking the college students that are left.

Jason X is loaded with beautiful women and you might expect this to be a tit flick, but it isn't. Breasts are seen early, but the android has no nipples. The gratuitous breast shots are late in the film and rather quick. Killing? Oh man is there master slaying happening here. The first victims face is frozen and shattered. Another gets the head amputation - another sliced in half. One marine finds himself impaled on a huge drill bit as Jason watches the body rotate down the bit, while another becomes part of a giant hook in the cargo back, Another, the throat slashing. Don't worry though, there is a lot more. Jason is a busy boy in this film.

But never fear some retribution by the victims as the mellow android is reprogrammed into ninja-killer-assassin bitch, and does some serious Jason buttkicking... Jason, shall we say, falls to pieces from the ass kicking he gets. They leave what is left in the cargo bay while attempting to heal another wounded crewmember. Is Jason really gone? Will those left alive survive the damaged ship that bleeding atmosphere into space from Jason rampaging? Could there be another Jason film in the future? Good questions all.

For those answers you must see the film. No point in ruining the film for the fans. I will however tell you this. I am no Jason fan, believing Freddy is much better, and I have seen the nine previous films. 'Jason Takes Manhattan' was the best of those for me... but Jason X is by far the best film to date in the franchise. I know that isn't a hard feat to accomplish, but Director Jim Isaac and New Line Cinema do an outstanding job. They actually created a film which takes Jason in a  somewhat new direction- literally. The budget is spent wisely and the special effects are very good.

In closing, the best of the franchise. Worth a see if you like Jason, you enjoy horror or whatever. Take in a matinee and see the film. It won't make you think, there isn't a story to tell, not really. This is nothing more than a sci-fi-horror-action packed romp.
