Scott Shots 2: First Wave...Good-Bye...Good RiddensLook...Look Eddie had it wrong. I've figured out the last quatrain and man does it all make sense now An ex-pornstar shall arrive on scene The writers, produces and directors will get a brainlock You'll got out with a whimper, not a bang Now don't get me wrong I poke fun, but I WAS a very big fan of the show at one time. Sadly all that went down the drain in the last eight terrible episodes. Look the show had a 66 episode commitment...I knew that...the fans knew that...you'd had hoped the creators of the show would know that too. THEY DIDN'T. For two years we've followed Cade has he fought the Gua. We watched as he foiled their experiments...ruined their master plans and built allies along the way. Then finally after two years Cade had finally done it. Along came Raven Nation and finally Cade had an army to fight the aliens and send them packing. What happened? All right...sure the show got canceled...that happens but it's no excuse for what happened to a great show. You had eight episodes to wrap it up...EIGHT EPISODES!!! Instead at least for me you ruined a show I loyally watched for two years. Where's the big fight? Where's the pay off? Where's everything the showed had geared me up for? No instead in a horrible episode inspired by numerous direct-to-video Alien clone the four Generals of Raven Nation were wiped by some strange chameleon like creature. I'm not sure were it came from or what it was it just appeared and ruined that plot option. So what do we have left now? Yup just our four heroes left to fight the Gua all by themselves. Cue-up bad time travel ending, In a move done even lamer then the writers of Voyager Cade travels in time to get a powerful weapon that will destroy the Gua. Huh? If that's all he needed to do then why bother with all the other crap he did before? I'm sorry, but it just sucks. I'm not even going to mention the moment when Mabius started telling Cade he was really one of their best agents. I tell you a shudder went down my spine when that was spoken. They had eight episodes and this was the best they could do. I'm sorry, but that sucks. The fans wanted the big payoff and they deserved it. Anything and I mean anything would have been better. Give us a war story in the final eight episodes...hell have Cade wake up in a hospital and we find out it's just a comatose dream. Anything, but the crappy ending we got instead. I was sad to hear the show got canned after seeing the end result I'm not. SUMMER LEFTOVERS: MURDER IN SMALL TOWN X FOX Overview: ten people are brought to a small town in Maine where a serial killer is on the loose. They must work together to find out who the killer is while each week the killer eliminates one of them My Take: The reality show bases on "How to Host a Murder" was really a good idea...that was until I saw it. To be honest did the contestants really have to do anything? Each week the host of the show gives them the clues and the course to investigate...HUH??? Now if Jeff Probst gave people wood, matches and food every week would survivor be as interesting? No just a little less fake. This was a great idea for a show, but the execution was terrible. Contestants had no way of getting a leg-up on one another and the all pretty much shared the exact same information meaning an alliance was pointless. In the end the revelation of who the killer was really didn't make much sense and the winner Angel just kinda lucked hoist way into winning. Sadly Angel a New York city fireman is listed as missing his unit was one of the first called in. The show had great potential, but the execution just didn't work for me. Judging from the ratings other people felt the same and I'd be surprised if it was back on next year. The Chronicle Sci-Fi Channel Fri 7 PM Starring: Rena Sofer, John Polito Overview: The Chronicle is a newspaper in the vain of The Weekly World News. It publishes stories about ghosts, aliens, conspiracies and come to find out they are all true. My Take: First off Rena Sofer is damn sexy and alone is a good enough reason to keep tuning every week. However the show itself has a nice charm and it's done very well. It's a Kolchak: The Nightstalker for a new generation. The effects are done well and the stories are entertaining. Thankfully Silvo Horta isn't left alone in the writing or it might turn out like those crappy Urban legend movies. In one episode the reporters wondered just how old The Chronicle editor played by Jon Polito really is. This in itself I found funny, because the guy doesn't seem to age and looks almost exactly as he did on Crime Story 15 years ago. I was also very entertained by the episode "Bring me the head of Tucker Burns" is a nice send-up to the classic Kolchak episode "Chopper" in which a biker returns from the dead looking for his missing head. The show was picked up from NBC so it will be interesting if the quality will stay the same once it's under the direction of the Sci-Fi Channel only. Anyone remember what they did to Sliders? Oh well at least Rena Sofer will still be there...did I mention she's damn sexy??? NEW SHOWS: DEAD LAST WB, Tues 9 PM Starring: Sara Downing, Tyler Labine, Vaughn Parrish Overview: Members of an unsigned band gian the power of an amulet that allow them to talk and communicate with ghost. During their travels they help the ghosts stuck her eon earth move on. My Take: Now I'll admit I dropped the ball on this one and didn't see it until episode five. It's basically the Sixth Sense as a sitcom and it's not as bad as it sounds. The three main characters aren't annoying and I got a few laughs at the episode that I saw. It will make me tune in next week, but it's not good enough to miss the premiere of Enterprise. I'll catch the replay on my satellites west coast feed. WOLF LAKE CBS WED 10 PM Starring: Lou Diamond Phillips, Sharon Lawrence, Scott Bairstow, Graham Green, Bruce McGill & Tim Matheson Overview: After police officer John Kanin;s girlfriend disappears he embarks on a search for her. A mysterious tip brings him to the town of Wolf Lake where the townsfolk are secretive and the seems to be a lot of wolves around My Take: I was looking forward to this show since it was announced last fall. Sadly over the summer the show nearly fell apart the pilot had scenes re-shot to make a more coherent story line. Well things surely did not look good. To my surprise I liked the show. It's got one hell of a cast and the first episode set up a storyline I'd like to see more of. Sadly I know that will never happen as this wolf is one dead puppy. Up against Law & Order and 20/20 there's no chance of it lasting. Good move CBS...hey whatever you do don't show the premiere after something like the final of Big Brother 2...that might make it a success. There is room for a successful show Wednesday night at 10 that is aimed at a younger audience...this won't be it Too bad as they have really assembled one hell of a cast. Behind the Terror: Understanding the Enemy TLC Overview: A joint TLC and BBC report on Osuma Bin Laden and his network of followers. It covers his past as a freedom fighter against the Soviets and what made him become the enemy of the United States My Take. while the show it not sci-fi I felt that given the times where in it would be an excellent show to recommend people watch. While the content is a little slow at times it lays out the terrorists networks throughout the middle east and explains how Bin Laden has become the evil bastard he is today. It in no way justifies anything the man has done it's just helps you understand where he is coming from and why he's carried out such actions. The show is extremely informative and it should not be missed. In Closing: Well the fall season starts this Monday and I'll be here with my reviews just as soon as I get don watching the shows. things are looking good this year as Enterprise could be an excellent addition to the Star Trek franchise. This Monday I'm looking forward to Crossing Jordan as I've always liked Jill Hennesy. Also FOX's "24" looks to be a unique show and a real time drama is something I've been waiting for. Also ABC's "Alias" could be a sleeper of a show as it might get a boost from being on before The Practice and the fact the X-Files is past it's prime won't hurt either. Also I'll try and get a few shots in on the weekends and give my opinion on the host of returning shows and the direction they take in the new season. See ya soon...again if you won't to reach me I'm at Scott_Strout@hotmail.com. I'll read all feedback and try to respond no matter what your response is. I enjoyed talking with those who replied last time and I thank both of your for writing <G Scott Strout Got a comment? Email Scott - CLICK HERE
