Scooby Doo
By Bruce Cox

The Review:    4 stars out of 5

I was prepared going into the movie NOT to like it. I had read some information on the web that lead me to believe that this movie was another of Hollywood's failed attempts at converting a TV show to movie. Remember such greats as Josie and the Pussycats, McHales Navy, and Super Mario Brothers just to name a few.

The movie is one hour and 20 minutes long, but moves a a very good pace, the movie starts as the gang is finishing up a case of the Lunar Ghost. After unmasking the Ghost in their usual way, the team breaks up and goes there separate ways, Pamela Anderson makes a guest spot. The Movie then fast forwards two years, as Shaggy and Scooby are summoned to Spooky Island to help the owner, at the airport the gang is reunited and takes a flight to the Island.

Upon arriving at the Island the gang makes it a contest to see who can unmask the villain first, the movies then jumps a bit from person to person to see what they are doing. After a trip through a broken down joy ride, the gang is gathered again to put their clues together, A small flash back sequence is given to the audience. and a small guest hero is shown (pun intended).

At this point the action starts building fast and furious with a unmasking of the villain at the end, I will not reveal who the villain is, but let me say, If you have not figured out who the villain is you have not watched enough of the shows.

There is a small outtake at the end of the movie with Scooby and Shaggy and a jar of hot peppers. well worth the watch.

The CGI Scooby and other creatures were done well, but hopefully the next movie if one is done a bit of improvement will be done.

There were a few lines of dialog that could have been done differently as to not use any foul words. The audience had about 60% children and they were laughing so hard at times that it was hard to hear all the dialogue.

I will be ordering the DVD when it comes out, and hopefully there will be some more outtakes to watch and a Making of special.

On one Web site there was mention of a body double for SMG for a scene where she runs down a tunnel nude, well the scene was not in the movie or was any girl/girl kissing.

There is a body switching sequence that would make most adults laugh that were very similar to the Farscape episode.
