This is the final season of Babylon 5. The shadow wars are over. It's time to complete storylines and move the characters beyond the space station.

Season 5 takes place on TNT rather than syndication. Fans of the series noticed a difference on the show. Changes that JMS would not have made with out pressure on him to do so. Important pieces of stories were left open. However it did allow JMS to complete his epic adventure. A series that actually had a the beginning, a middle, and an end.

This is the first series that Warner Home Video has completed.

VIDEO

Like previous B5 boxed sets some of the shows effects suffer a slight quality drop from time to time. The transfer from the series effects were done originally to tape and then enlarged and cropped for widescreen. Like previous boxed sets I found the overall video to be very good. Sharp colors. Dark scenes are crisp creating vibrant colors.

AUDIO

The audio transfer is in Dolby Digital 5.0 and sounds great on the stereo television. But it could have been a better transfer for the surround sound. They missed the potential for outstanding surround sound.

EXTRAS

The boxed set contains "Digital Tomorrow", "Beyond Babylon 5", "The Universe of Babylon 5" and "Additional scenes. The Universe of B5 includes data files for "Drakh, Interstellar Alliance, Book of G'Kar, Day of the Dead, Fall of the Centauri Alliance. Personal files for Captain Lochley, Byron, Ta'Lon, Minister Virini, Mack & Bo. Plus a gag reel.

SUMMARY

What can you say over and over about the DVD boxed sets. They get an awesome overall rating. Despite a few sound glitches and some effects quality issues it's a great product. Get yours today.
