There aren't many independent films that do well in sales or in box office receipts - but they are critically acclaimed.

I have never been into independent films unless is some horror film  or something along those lines. But times change. Since I have been running the site and catching any movie I can get my hands on my tastes are expanding.

Colin Farrell has never struck me as a dramatic actor, but he does a nice job in the role of Bobby Morrow. The film shines thanks to his surrounding cast. The young Farrell, played by Andrew Chalmers is an excellent performance.

A Home at the End of the World is a simply wonderful film about life, friendships and love. It's the story of life changing events of a troubled youth name Bobby Morrow from childhood into manhood.

PACKAGING
The cover art for the film isn't much to look at. It has a faded $5.50 bin look to it.

VIDEO:
Like most new films the transfer looks excellent presented in the 16:9 anamorphic widescreen. The blacks are dark creating bright colorful images that are sharp to the viewer. Forget about the debris, the film is clean.

AUDIO:
The features soundtrack is true retro, maybe worth a purchase on CD. There's nothing in the film to show off the digital surround but the voices are clean and come through the center channel nice and clear.

BONUS FEATURES:
The film has almost no extras.

  • Go Behind the Scenes on The Journey Home

  • Theatrical Trailer

SUMMARY:
This film was a pleasant surprise. The dramatic swing of the film is excellent. The acting, the story and the direction make for nice picture. The men out there should know this is a chick flick to the extreme, and it's a quality film too.

Feature Film Rating:  B
