Peta Wilson is pretty incredible in this underrated television series about a young woman
forced to become a government secret service agent for Section
One.
I caught the original
broadcast for all three seasons. The was deeply intense and so far
off the charts hardly anyone was watching. If you have watch
Jennifer Garner in the ABC series "Alias" you know right
away that it's a near clone of LaFemme Nakita. The major difference
is that Peta Wilson is much better in the role than Garner could
ever be. A neat trick for Alias would be having Wilson show up for a
season working for the other side. She is beautiful, athletic and
quite the skilled actress.
I was amazed at the...
lets say amount of flesh that the young Peta Wilson was more than
willing to expose in a direct to video film "Mercy" that
she did with Ellen Barkin (Switch, The Big Easy, Bad Company). It
was an interesting drama.
LeFemme Nakita
struggled in the ratings to get through its four and a half season
run. Fans of the show fought hard for that short lived fifth season
with a serious writing campaign. The show ran from January 13th 1997
to March 4th of 2001 amassing 96 dramatic episodes.
Warner Bros. and LPN
Productions have worked hard to create an awesome third season boxed
set. It's got some interesting material.
PACKAGING
LaFemme Nakita is fitted with my favorite packaging, the book style
format using cardboard flaps and hard plastic pages with great
images behind the discs. It's a beautiful boxed set.
VIDEO:
The masters aren't that old and the digital transfer looks
exceptional. The colors are crisp with a bit of washout is some
areas, but overall they are vibrant and sharp. This is consistent
through out the seasonal episodes.
AUDIO:
It soundtrack for the episodes sounds pretty good in Dolby Digital 2.0. There's
almost no use of the rear speakers and I never expected any. But
through the front and center speakers the voices are crisp without
any distortion.
BONUS FEATURES:
LPN Productions and Warner put a nice bonus package together for the
boxed set.

SUMMARY:
Nakita's season three boxed set kicks some butt. It has the complete
mix of drama, action, acting, writing and music to make for a
quality production. Peta Wilson is exceptional in the role of
LaFemme Nakita with a supporting cast that rivals any series.
Something this set
offers that many of the new boxed sets do not is the autoplay
feature. Likely the best option a studio could offer but
doesn't.
The worst part of this
boxed set is the incredibly boorish price tag of $99.99. This is a
sure sign that this will not be a big seller or able to make the top
ten in sales. Even at the reduced price of $69.99, which many online
retailers are offering the disc set, will find few takers.
