STARS:
George Peppard, Mr. T, Dirk Benedict,
Dwight Schultz (Voyager, Next Generation), Lance LeGault
The A-Team. A
crackshot unit that could never hit the broadside of a barn with an
automatic weapon. It was an action packed comedy hour with Murdock
and the face man headed by the cigar smoking Colonel that loved it
when a plan came together. While loaded with bullets flying
everywhere and cars spinning through the air no one ever died, much
less suffering an injury.
The fan base for the
show has changed over the years. Like those who loved the Dukes of
Hazzard they would never admit they watched the show. Hey, I
watched. It was never good TV but it was entertaining television for
the first two or three years the show was around. In all
actuality the second season is generally considered the series
best.
I enjoyed seeing the
Dirk Benedict recover from the dismal Battlestar Galactica series to
join a successful series. It was a surprise to actually see George
Peppard take on his role as Hannibal Smith with Hollywood attitude.
But he was excellent in the character.
PACKAGING
The second season is dual
layered and Universal when for the new thin case design, which I
really enjoy. These were also used on the series Millennium and the
new Pretender release.
VIDEO:
I detected a some dust and debris here and there but the 21 year old
tape transferred extremely well to DVD. Looks like Universal did a
nice job. Unlike some of the series being released today this set
has the auto play which totally rules when watching a disc.
AUDIO:
The
audio didn't get any digitizing at all really. It's just the mono
sound track and it's like OK. You can pick up some crackling here
and there but it sure doesn't rock the system in the least.
BONUS FEATURES:
There is no bonus material for the A-Team in the boxed set. But it
does have a Knight Rider feature on it.
SUMMARY:
If your a closet fan or stand up fan this is a decent boxed set to
become a fixture on your shelf. The A-Team has to be one of the most
action packed adventures ever to hit television with lots of guns,
bullets and flying vehicles. It's not a must have in my book, but it
would be a pleasure to have series.
