This is actually Universal's way of ripping off the fans for $40 extra bucks since the next release will have these episodes and the remainder of the second season.  It's a direct slap in the face to all the fans of the series. Please do not purchasefrom this boxed set. Get the release at the end of season 2.

The quality writing, acting and special effects continued from where the first season left off. The series is simply amazing. There is just something to the drama that pulls you in. You don't even consider this is a science fiction series. It's a drama that simply takes place in the future. It's exciting, it's fun and it's dramatic.

The series is packed with unfamiliar faces that bring the series to life. The acting of these unknowns is incredible. What we get is an action packed drama the likes of... Farscape.

PACKAGING:
The outer slip pack is beautiful using the familiar foil technique with two of the main characters on the cover. The mini-cases have unique slip covers with beautiful images printed on them. However the same cannot be said for the underside. These are clear cases so you can see that the backside is nothing more than a blank white backing. It was a missed opportunity to share info between the original and the new series. The boxed sets appearance is awesome and looks exceptional next to Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and my Babylon 5 series.

VIDEO:
The digital transfer looks as awesome as season one. The blacks are dark the colors vibrant. Man it looks good on the the new 32 inch LCD. whew!

AUDIO:
This is the best audio transfer for a television series that I have ever seen. Like season one it freakin' rocks.  It's AWESOME!

BONUS FEATURES:
Universal Television packed it full. Fans get it all with this DVD boxed set.

  • Deleted Scenes - Some rough and other compelte that are up to 20 minutes in length. Very cool stuff.

  • Episode Commentary - Who give a shit on this.

  • Battlestar Galactica Sneak Peak - Won't be so cool in January when the season starts back up.

  • Previews - Eh...

SUMMARY:
Please do not purchase this boxed set if you can help yourself. It simply plays into Universal's pockets and makes sure the studio will pull this crap every season. Wait until the end of season 2 and get all the episodes in one boxed set.

That being said this set is pretty damn nice. The bulk of the extras are standard shit and from the Sci-Fi Channel's web content on the series. The deleted scenes are primo stuff you love to have. The quality, the writing, acting and special effects keep you riveted to the television. Without commercials it's like watching a mini-feature. Battlestar Galactica rocks.
