Man! Nearly crapped in
my drawers yesterday catching the Season 2 boxed sets in Costco.
While it's not my favorite show it is one of them for sure. There's
no kick ass dramatics or heavy story telling, but it's fun. Light
stories, great music and gorgeous women every freakin' episode. And
hey, it's Las Vegas too ya'll.
Season 2 picks up with
Danny returning from IRAQ and the shows get better from there.
Season 2 continues to keep things rolling along for all 24 episodes
with the final demolition of the Montecito.
While stylingly
different I find that this show is reminiscent of the seventies
series "VEGA$" which star the late Robert Urich as private
investigator Dan Tana. Las Vegas previews great area shots though
filmed in Los Angeles. Of course Las Vegas takes things to another
level and the way shows are filmed deliver a broader more glamorous
picture.
As things rock and
roll on the show I hope season three offers some new experiences and
maybe some fresh blood. Either way the show remains entertaining and
fun.
PACKAGING
Season 2 looks great and butts up well with the shows first season
boxed set. There's a great cast photo on the cover and unfortunately
is the same one used on all the inserts too. The double-sided discs
are stored in the new thin-disc cases that I think are are a great
change from the larger units.
VIDEO:
The
letterbox burn looks incredible. The
video is pretty much debris free and the quality kicks ass. The
colors are vibrant without fade or color distortion.
AUDIO:
The audio is in Dobly Digital 5.1
and yes it sounds very good for a
television series. There's not much use of the rear speakers but it
rocks. I still miss the Elvis tune but I am getting use to it.
BONUS FEATURES:
NBC and Universal haven't issued any
killer extras so far and season 2 isn't much better. But there is a
cool gag reel and and new VIP area.
SUMMARY:
Las Vegas remains one of my favorite shows and given a change you
will enjoy the series too. There are now 48 episodes in the series
with season three sure to follow. The sets are excellently priced
and play well.
