This pack marks the completion of Millennium on DVD. Season 3 is less than season 2 in the method of stories. the psycho of the week storylines begin to wear thin but near the end of the season the writers get on a bit of role with some unique storylines.

Frank Black is still able to look into the mind of evil and his daughter is showing signs of the same abilities as her father. In season three Frank returns to the FBI determined to expose the Millennium Group. He must now protect himself and his daughter.

I found season two so much better than the shows final 22 episodes. The makings for the season would have been so much better with a bit more humor to such a dark storyline.  Some of the shows intense suspense driven by the Y2K scenario is a bit washed out since it's already come and gone without so much as a whisper.

Overall the three season boxed sets make for a great series, that fans can enjoy. There are 66 episodes in the series which create more than enough suspense for any one individual enjoying a weeks vacation with nothing to do. Lance Henrickson does not play the family man very well, but he surely has it down playing a psycho analyst hunting bad guys in the dark.  This series mixed with Carter's other hit series "The X-Files" can keep ones mind in a twist binge for hours on end.

PACKAGING
The packaging is as outstanding as the previous boxed sets. Season 3 uses a blue overtone mixed with eerie images on every cover. The set continues the use of the single disc mini-dvd holders with the digipack holder. The set look excellent on the shelf. Fox TV and Ten Thirteen have create a colorful set.

VIDEO:
The video is a bit off from season three. Some scenes appear a bit soft or washed out. The darks just not black enough to bring out the sharpness of the colors. There are scenes that are filled with beautiful contrast and color before going back to a washed out appearance. For the shows age the video does look good and fans will not be disappointed. Viewers should know by now that the older series were shot on film rather than digital media. Quality will vary.

AUDIO:
The audio transfer has been dubbed to Dolby Digital 5.1 and it sounds excellent for a television series. The base is deep and the voices are sharp and soundtrack for the series is pretty good.

BONUS FEATURES:
The film has a limited amount of extras.

  • Commentary on selected episodes.

  • The X-Files season 7 episode "Millennium"

  • End Game: Making of Millennium season three documentary.

  • Between the Lines Featurette

SUMMARY:
James Wong and Glenn Morgan took over this series and turned it into what it was. Chris Carter gets nearly all the credit as the shows creator, but it was Wong & Morgan that gave the show its life.

Millennium is a dark series that premieres excellent writing and some quality acting. The cinematography on the series mixed with the moody style background music brings the series into a unique ride for the viewer.  The season three boxed brings Millennium to a excellent close and the opportunity for fans to have a great series as part of their collection.
