I think this was
suppose to have been a religious Indiana Jones type project. It
wasn't.
Don't rate what you
saw on television against what you will see on DVD. Without the
commercials to sidetrack the viewers this is not a bad mini-series.
That being said it can see to drag on forever and you need to make
sure you enjoy religious themed programs. Come on, Revelations is
about the Antichrist and the second coming of Christ. So it's a bit
heavy handed and hard to swallow.
Give it a watch and
you might be surprised by how entertaining Revelations with it name
brand actors and feature film look.
What's it about? Dr
Richard Massey, Harvard professor, a non believer in the matters of
Heaven and Hell. After being teamed up with a nun - Sister Josepha
Montafiore - Massey learns the devastating truism that the
prophecies foretold in the Bibles "book of Revelations" is
actually coming true and the world is in the End of Days. A
true battle of good vs evil through two humans.
PACKAGING
Almost archaic by today's new DVD storage standard Revelations comes
in a two disc single sided burn and uses the old snap type cases
rather than the new ultra thin case. Both snap cases slide snuggly
into a cardboard designer sleeve. The graphics are good looking, but
not eye catching if you know what I mean. The snap-case inserts are
the same photo used on the designer case.
VIDEO:
The video looks splendid. It should,
considering the mini-series project is a recent production. The
blacks are black, the colors vibrant and there is little debris on
the transfer.
AUDIO:
The audio rocks, but if felt like
something was missing. It could have used the rear channels a so
much better.
BONUS FEATURES:
Not much is included with this set. You will get an on-set
featurette and interviews with Bill Pullman, Natashia McElhone,
Michael Massee and with writer/producer David Seltzer.
SUMMARY:
All these anthology series are getting out of hand. Hollywood works
hard to run a new favorite into the ground. Yunno, vampires, undead
and others. Fans might find this an interesting and entertaining
mini-series.
