STARS: David
Rasche, Anne-Marie Martin, Leslie Morris, Kurt Paul, and Patti Tippo
What a series this
was. Dirty Harry gone comedy and it was funny. David Rasche was the
perfect person for the role of Sledgehammer. Rasche went on to play
in many telefilms and features but never scored the big time, but he
was perfect for the role of Sledge Hammer.
Like the first season
the series stays nutty, whitty and makes fun of everything. The
biggest thing a new fan must understand is that the second season
takes place about five years before season one.
Sledge Hammer is one
of the funniest television series to come along. Not ever Seinfeld,
Friends or Raymond can touch the humor laid down in the two years of
Sledge. It was a series before its time.
Despite the grainy
picture and average sound the series is outstanding and so it this
boxed set.
PACKAGING
The
packaging remains like that of season
one - the book style fold out with the Sledge Hammer. The cover art
looks great.
VIDEO:
The video was filmed originally in 16mm film so the DVD cut of the
series has a grainy look that runs throughout the entire season.
There are no chapters but it does offer fans the option to play all
on the disc.
AUDIO:
The
audio
is there. The dolby digital 2.0
doesn't do anything to help or hurt the DVD. It sounds pretty
good.
BONUS FEATURES:
Creator Alan Spencer went all out on both season boxed sets and
season two doesn't disappoint. It's loaded...

SUMMARY:
Anchor Bay and Alan Spenser kicked some butt on this DVD boxed set.
The images, packaging and extras were outstanding. The series is
totally underrated and nearly forgot before the DVD release. Fans
are returning to the series and it's even finding new fans. Get your
copy of season one and two today.
