Time Tunnel season 2 was as enjoyable at the fist season with two time travelers adventuring through time saving the world and from unknown events in the worlds history.

Season two was a bit better in writing and storylines. With just 15 episodes in season 1 and 2 the complete series should have been released as a single boxed set for $30 rather than the two sets hitting thirty bucks each.

Also included in this set is the 1976 Time Travelers TV Movie, which has aired on Encore a few months ago, was a weak attempt to bring the series back. The telefilm starred Sam Groom (from the original) and Tom Hallick as the duo Time Traveling team.

The 2002 unaired pilot was pretty freakin' cool. It makes the boxed set for me. Based on the pilot the series would have been extremely interesting. A definite watch for me. The story was good, the characters interesting and the special effects pretty damn good for a series pilot. Producers did a good job on updating the time tunnel itself. It's a long walk off a short pier. Fox missed out on this opportunity. Amazing they didn't at least air the telefilm since they spent the bucks to make it.

PACKAGING:
The packaging is nothing more than a color change using black and gray with yellow letter, but it fits well with the season one look that used white and black with red lettering.

VIDEO:
The digital transfer looks pretty damn impressive on the analog television. The images are sharp and clean. There's minimal debris and dirt anywhere on the transfers. The colors are look good and there's no bleeding. An excellent job by fox. On the digital... It doesn't look to good, but neither did the first season.

AUDIO:
The 5.1 is awesome and sounds outstanding. The background theme music during the time tunnel sequence kicks. For the series it's good and clear, which is all you can ask for a series this old.

BONUS FEATURES:
Fox actually packed the box set with some nice extras that were expected. Fans get it all with this DVD boxed set.

  • Available Subtitles: English, Spanish
  • Available Audio Tracks: English (Dolby Digital 1.0), French (Dolby Digital 1.0), Spanish (Dolby Digital 1.0)

  • Time Travelers TV movie from 1976
  • Unaired 2002 TV pilot

SUMMARY:
This is a nice boxed set. The biggest knock as usual is the price tag. Forty bucks for the entire series would have been awesome for $40 for half is another slap in the face.

What makes this enjoyable is the 2002 unaired pilot telefilm. It's a great bonus for the fan along with the 1976 movie from Irwin Allen.

Time Tunnel  Rating:  C
