Rodgers, Lou Diamon Phillips.
The Triangle was an
interesting mini-series from the SciFi Channel. The reason is likely
due to the involvement of Dean Devlin and Brian Singer. The mix of
script, actors, and effects are incredible for a television
project.
I like Sam Neil,
particularly in the Jurassic Park features. His role is smaller than
the others and Eric Stoltz is excellent and a nearly down and out
reporter who career is in the virtual toilet. Catherine Bell is
beautiful but she just isn't that great of an actress. That being
said the cast works well together to create characters you begin to
care about.
See this mini without
the one-hour worth of commercials actually creates a 180 minute
feature film that tells a quality story with a mix of television and
feature film actors.
What does the Bermuda
Triangle mean to you? Fact or Fiction. Truth or bullshit. Truth is
we just don't know what it really is...
PACKAGING
The packaging
looks good. The images mixing black
and ocean blue to create the cover for the miniseries, but it comes
across very nice.
VIDEO:
The burn for this is excellent. The SciFi Channel network here in
Las Vegas looks like shit most of the time, and the dvd burn looks
outstanding. The blacks are dark and the colors in the mini-series
are bright.
AUDIO:
The audio is outstanding. Likely the
best i have heard from anything television. The use of the rear
speakers is excellent. The mix
of hearing traffic, rain and even the wind sounds very cool and
helps set the mood of the film while your watching. Excellent!
BONUS FEATURES:
Lion's Gate did shit for creating extras for the mini-series. With
guys like Dean Devlin & Brian Singer there should have been
hours of bonus material. Not the crap you see below.
-
Sci-Fi Inside the
Triangle - A 21 minute behind the scenes look.
-
Trailer Gallery -
7 minutes worth of trailers.
-
Trailer for
Battlestar Galactica
-
Trailer for Eureka
SUMMARY:
Grabbing this for a mere $19 is gonna be a steal. It's enjoyable to
watch. The cast works well together and the producers tell a great
story.
The story telling
truly tells the story in a way that will make you stop and think
about what the Bermuda Triangle
Good mini-series don't
come along to often with this type of quality. Let's remember
other great minis (not on DVD) like "Creature",
"The Beast", "Something is Out There",
and "Goliath Awaits".
