STARS:
James Caan, Josh Duhamel, Nikki Cox,
Vanessa Marcil, Molly Sims, and James Leisure.
Season 3 is a rough
season for me. The producers changed the entire casino adding Lara
Flynn Boyle who I found annoying as hell. These changes adjusted the
format a bit, which I was not at all pleased about.
The stories were still
decent and the cast was as wonderful as ever. The new hotel,
completely digitized, is impressive and the new interior built in
Los Angeles is beautiful. Killing off Boyle was a save the day for
the show and season three ended on a positive note. The biggest
missing link for this season was Marsha Thomason who played Nesa.
She has moved on to another show which of course flopped... big
time. Also missing much of the season is beautifully breasted
Nikki Cox and that wonderful smile. Her role was greatly reduced in
season three. Hopefully season four will have her role expanded
again.
The uncut version
really is... uncut. In the shows second episode, "Fake the
Money and Run", The pool side scenes are really uncut. The pool
is a topless pool and it really is topless in the DVD cut added an
expected dimension to the show.
Once again the opening
Elvis tune has been replaced by the same opening theme music used in
the first season. It is a catchy tune but you really miss the Elvis
opening.
The quality of the DVD
boxed set kicks ass. Fans will love this version of season three and
will not be disappointed.
PACKAGING
Season 3 is probably the best looking boxed set. The cover is a
beautiful silver foil with the cast on the cover and the inserts for
the DVDs are white with the same cast image. They are beautiful. The
DVDs are placed in the thin dual dvd cases. For some reason the set
went from to a five disc set when last season had more episodes on a
three disc set.
VIDEO:
The
letterbox burn is sweet. The
video is debris free and the quality kicks some serious butt this
season. The
colors are vibrant without fade or color distortion.
AUDIO:
The audio is in Dolby Digital 5.1
and rocks. The rear speakers are going
to get a work out but the music and soundtrack sounds incredible
through the sound system. The voices through the center channel is
crisp and clear. I really enjoyed the overall effect from the boxed
set.
BONUS FEATURES:
NBC and Universal haven't issued any
killer extras so far and season 3 isn't much better. But there is a
cool gag reel and and a useless special.
SUMMARY:
Las Vegas remains a favorite and given a chance I believe you will
enjoy what the show has to offer.
This set rocks ass and it's definitely
one for the shelves.
