29: Enterprise Crap: Rick
Berman just doesn't get it. When he talks about the changes the show
needs he sounds like a moron. In the coming season or seasons fans
will get nothing new from Enterprise. This guy isn't looking for
something fresh. In a recent interview with TrekWeb.com he told the
site they are looking at ways to bring in Q, a young Sarek and even
Kirk as the Kirk's father or grand father. Is this fresh? We'll even
get the Borg at the end of this season and we've already had
time-travel. In two-seasons the characters in the series have yet to
be defined. You can't feel close or associate to any of them.
Enterprise sucks as it is. The changes planned by Rick Berman are
wrong and take the series in the wrong direction.
Mar
29: Potter for Dollars: The
second Harry Potter film has joined the original as just one of three
films to gross over $600 million on the international box office. The
three would be the first two Potter films and the third is Titannic.
Mar
29: Spy Hunter: Another game
is coming to the big screen. Universal studios has hired Fast and the
Furious duo, Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, to pen the script for Spy
Hunter. The Rock, Dwayne Johnson has signed on to star in the
film.
Mar
29: C.S.I.
Miami Gets Larger:
Variety reports that CBS's hit series is growing. CBS
has tapped Sofia Milos (THE SOPRANOS) to join the cast of CSI: MIAMI.
Milos will take a permanent spot on the show in Fall 2003 playing
Detective Yalina Salas, a role that she has played in a guest starring
capacity this season.
Mar
29:
Angel:
Writer/Producer David Greenwalt tells the Zap2it.com website that
Angel has a better than 50/50 chance of returning next season. David,
Josh Whedon and others went to Fox and the WB to talk about the
series. If renewed, Angel will get completely revamped. The ideas they
have could last at least two seasons.
Mar
29:
Batman
to Fly Again:
In the face of the Superman fiasco, Warner Bros. is moving forward now
with its Batman project. How serious is Warner? They've gone out and
hired David Goyer to pen a completely new script. Goyer previously
said he would no longer pen scripts for anyone other than himself. It
is believed this is the talked about Batman: Frightening project.
Mar
26: Smallville: The WB gave
the series a one-year renewal, but signed the shows creators Al Gough
and Miles Millar a two-year deal to continue working on the
show.
Mar
26: The Job Ain't Enough: In a
time when having a quality job is a rare commodity workers at three UK
film studios have threatened to walk in one week if they can't secure
high wages. Freelance workers including carpenters, painters,
plasterers, riggers and stagehands, have given the studios a one-week
notice before walking out. This could effect the latest Harry Potter
potter film and Troy which are currently in production there.
Mar
25: Sincere Wishes: The hopes
and prayers go out for the men and women defending freedom in Iraq.
Thank you all.
Mar
25: Disappointed: I have been
extremely disappointed in the Hollywood Scene the past few days I
haven't been able to update the site. The uneducated Iraq Sympathizing
actors of the movie industry have put a sour taste in my mouth.
But I will be doing an update today. I wish them the worst things in
life.
Mar
25: Angel: Despite decent
ratings this season the WB failed to renew the series just yet, though
they have renewed five others. The decision on Angel will happen in
May.
May
25: Charmed Life: The WB's
Smallville and Charmed got the official greenlight for another
season.
May
25: Affleck- More Red: Ben
Affleck is set to become Daredevil once more - but is also negotiating
to return to the role of Jack Ryan in Red Rabbit. An adaptation of Tom
Clancy's novel.
May
25: Veritas: Gone: ABC has
placed the new series Veritas: the Quest on indefinite hiatus,
whatever the hell that means. Just say canceled for cryin' out loud.
Ratings have been dismal for the unique series. fans of the series can
hopefully expect the remaining nine episodes to hit the network this
summer.
Mar
25: Cube TV: the Series: After
two low-budget films the Cube franchise seems to be taking the
Television series route ala Tremors. Apparently a new series in
the development stages. We lose series like Farscape, Odyssey 5,
Invisible Man, and Witchblade - but we get crap like Tremors and a
Cube series. Oh... nice, real nice.
Mar
25: $1.5M worth $110 tip:
Jennifer Lopez dropped her six carat $1.5M engagement ring to Ben
Affleck down a drain in a ritzy eatery. After freaking out and having
the drain dismantled the ring was recovered. Lopez was nice enough to
tip the staff $110. Wow, thanks JLO. Imagine wearing $1.5 million on
your finger.
Mar
21: VHS Hears Death-rattle: VHS
is a dying breed, doomed to follow the Beta-max format. For the first
time DVD rentals passed VHS for the week ending March 16th. DVD's
totaled $80 million, while VHS took in another $78 million. Fan
recording is the biggest obstacle in the death of VHS. The DVD
recorders, Panasonic specifically, has dropped to under $400 online
and hit the $499 mark at retailers from the previous $699 price just
two-weeks ago. When the price of the units hits under $200 and the
media to CD-R prices VHS will fade into the laserdisc and Beta
realm.
Mar
21: Digital Hoo-Haa: George
Lucas' demand for digital theaters has pretty much fallen on deaf
ears. After declaring that Episode III will be a digital release only,
the producer/director might just want to hold off. Only a few theaters
in the U.S. upgraded to digital equipment after Lucas's demand. The
units have mostly gather dust since Episode II. There are actually
very few films released in digital format these days. The digital
projection equipment is expensive and it isn't worth the upgrade. If
Lucas hold true to his words very few theaters, much less fans, will
be taking in the sixth and final installment.
Mar
20: Optical Printer: Any idea
what it is, much less what it's use for? It is one of the most
important pieces of film equipment in the industry. It is broadly used
today even with the advancements of CGI software. Read about the Optical
Printer in the SFX
Article section of the website today.
Mar
20: The Punisher: Old Guy or
Young Guy? Does it matter which takes on the role of Frank Castle, aka
the Punisher? As long as the film is dark and gritty it could be a
great project. (I actually enjoyed the Dolph Lungren version
immensely) Currently in the running for the role are two persons. One
is a proven action star and the other has already done some quality
roles in the action and drama fields. Our proven old timer is none
other than Kurt Russell (Stargate, Tango & Cash, Soldier) and the
young action gentleman is Thomas Jane (Deep Blue Sea, 61, Dreamcatcher).
Thanks to Superherohype.com
Mar
20: Superman: Brett Ratner's
option ran out on Mar 15th and the director has pulled out of
Superman, along with every main stream actor being sought for the lead
role. It's an expensive project that no one really wants to be
involved in. Whom ever dons the cape and tights runs a great risk of
forever being lock in the role. A very career threatening gig. Plus
the contract is for three films over a six-year period. Ratner plans
to do Rush Hour 3 instead. However, Jackie Chan has already commented
that he will NOT be doing anymore Rush Hour films, ever.
Mar
20: the Peacemaker: Tom
Berenger may be joining the USA Network in The Peacemaker as a cop in
the old west in 1881. Berenger will play a marshal who helps introduce
"modern" crime-fighting techniques -- like fingerprinting --
to the Old West. Peter O'Meara ("Band of Brothers" )
and Clara Jager, who co-starred with Berenger in the Hallmark
Channel's "Johnson County War," are also in the cast.
Peacemaker will mark USA's third original series with The Dead Zone
and Monk.
Mar
20: Diller Quits: Vivendi
Entertainment CEO Barry Diller called it quits today in what some
found to be unexpected. Speculation is that his resignation is that
oilman billionaire Marvin Davis may be purchasing the company over
Viacom.
Mar
20: Another T2 Disc Coming:
Yet another Terminator 2 Special Edition DVD is coming. Fans must have
stupid written on their foreheads as companies release three an four
versions of the same film. This take on the Disc will include
interviews and commentary from James Cameron and supposedly a better
looking film which has been restored frame by frame. You just get
tired of companies trying to suck a few bucks from you with the same
new and improved crap you already have.
Mar
20: Monk: Fans of the USA
Network series MONK will be happy to learn that the network has
increased in second season order from 13 to 16 episodes. The extra
episodes, USA hopes, will help cover the increased cost of production
after moving the series from Canada to Los Angeles. (why you would
move from production friendly Canada to Los Angeles is beyond me)
Mar
20: Barbarella: Drew Barrymore
and Nancy Juvonen's "Flower Films" has signed a two-year
extension first look deal with Sony, which includes Barbarella.
(DarkHorizons.com
Mar
20: Wonder Woman: Joel Silver
really wants to do the film based on the DC character, but will not
attempt it until he feels he has the material to make a cool
film.
Mar
19: Riverworld: The new Sci-Fi
Channel telefilm RIVERWORLD based on the Riverworld novels by Philip
Jose Farmer premieres Saturday, March 22 at 9pm.
Mar
19: Farscape Finale: There
will be no closure in the series finale Friday night at 8pm. The
series was canceled before a wrap-up telefilm could be done, and then
cost negotiations were deemed to much. This is the final time for
genre fans of all types of series will have a chance to give Farscape
a fan laden good-bye. Watch the Friday night episode and say so long.
Mar
19: Embassy Visual Effects Inc.:
There's a new special effect house in Vancouver Canada. Embassy was
founded by Winston Helgason, Stephen Pepper, Simon van de Lagemaat and
Jim Hebb. Their main objective is to be small to medium sized
full-service digital effects house. The new company has already
been contacted by companies and individuals interested in the possible
use of their company. Vancouver is currently the television series
haven. A perfect place for a visual effects house to be. (vfxpro.com)
Mar
19: Andromeda Slipping: The
ratings are beginning to tumble for Andromeda as fans become
disgruntled. Changes have been made to increase the ratings only to
see them fall. The shows creators and vfx supervisor have been forced
out after just three seasons. With a 2.0 ratings the series has fallen
from number one to number three in first run syndicated series.
Mar
19: She Spies Renewed: In a
somewhat surprising move the syndicated joint effort between NBC and
MGM has been renewed for a second season. She Spies averaged a 2.0
rating this season and repeats see the series earning 1.8
ratings.
Mar
19: Adventure Inc.: The slow
starting, and under advertised series, Adventure Inc. is steadily
gaining fans and ratings. With the first season nearly done, ratings
are impressive at a 2.1 rating share. That puts the series in the
number two spot for first run syndicated series behind Mutant X at
2.4. These ratings look good for another season of Adventure
Inc.
Mar
19: Affleck As Ryan Again:
Paramount Pictures is planning to bring back Ben Affleck as Jack Ryan
in another Jim Clancy film. The studio has bought the film rights to
Clancy's "Red Rabbit". Robert Rodat, who scripted Saving
Private Ryan will adapt the book for a mere $2 million. The rights
were purchased for as a vehicle for Ben Affleck to return.
Mar
19: Micronauts: The mego
company has sold the feature film and television rights to producer
Gale Anne Hurd and Emmett/Furla Films. In the late 70's and early 80's
the toy line was a hot commodity earning Mego over $300 million, which
is second only to the Star Wars franchise toy line. (moviehole.net)
Mar
15: Superdoom: No one with any
sense wants to step into the Superman role. Josh Hartnett has step
away, and now Jude Law, Paul Walker along with up & coming Ashton
Kutcher. None of them want their careers locked up being known as
Superman. Especially when the deal is a six year, three film
commitment. This problem is causing some unrest between Brett Ratner
and Jon Peters. Amazing when no one wants a lead role in a $200
million dollar bust film. Can you say Ishtar? I knew ya could.
Mar
15: DVD Recording Prices: Prices
are dropping drastically on the Panasonic DVD recorders. The E30's
have dropped from $699 to as low as $449 at retail stores like Costco
($449) and Fry's Electronics ($499). Time to get yours today.
Mar
15: Catwoman: Well, Halle
Berry appears set to play Catwoman in Warner Bros. feature. It was
great with Kidman being courted for the role, but this isn't the
greatest news. Filming should be set for later this year.
Mar
15: Foundation Trilogy: Core
scribe John Rogers has finished the screenplay for the feature film
based on the Isaac Asimov trilogy, "Foundation".
Mar
15: MIB III: Will Smith &
Tommy Lee Jones have pitched an idea to director Barry Sonnenfeld for
a Men In Black III sequel and Paramount is will to let the director
run with it and for Walter Parks to take a back seat on the project.
The two don't get along. Smith and Jones will NOT do the film without
Sonnenfeld.
Mar
15: Thank You & Fuck You Very Much:
A special thanks to The Sci-Fi Channel for bringing us the incredible
television series Farscape. A show that is truly one of the best
written, directed and produced shows in television genre history. And
a horribly huge and monsterous FUCK YOU to the same dipshit,
narrowminded, ass-wad network known to many as the Sci-Suk Channel,
for canceling the same series that set the new standard for genre
television. FARSCAPE ends its four year run next Friday night at 8pm.
It is my hope that all genre fans will tune in that night and give
this wonderful series a heart-felt good-bye. A series that will truly
be missed. A special thanks to the actors, special effects guru's,
writers and working stiffs that made it all happen. :)
Mar
13: Werewolf:
Remember the half-hour series Werewolf? There are many people looking for
the series today. Well, Sony has the rights and are interested in
releasing the entire series to DVD. But you have to let Sony know you
want it by taking their poll. CLICK
HERE for the SONY POLL . Take the poll today. Make sure you
also select the seasonal boxed sets.
Mar
13: Fantasy Island DVD?: Want Sony to release Fantasy Island to
DVD? let them know in the
same poll when you pick your top five series. I picked Werewolf and
Fantasy Island twice. Sorry but my fifth vote was for... T.J. Hooker.
Nothing better than James T. Kirk in a cops uniform. Click
Here for the Sony Poll. Also select seasonal boxed sets.
Mar
13: Riddick to Film Soon:
Production on the trilogy is set to begin in Vancouver B.C. in just
two weeks. Diesel will be using soft contacts in this set rather than
the hard contacts used in the first film.
Mar
13: Selleck Out: Tom Selleck
(Magnum PI, Three Men and a Baby) was slated to do a four episode
stint on Third Watch, but backed out due to a commitment on a new
pilot for NBC. Stepping into the four episode stint will be actor Tom
Berenger (major league, Sniper, the Substitute, Shattered).
Mar
12: Black Lagoon: The Creature
From the Black Lagoon is getting remake. Imagine that. The
rewrite will be done by Tedi Sarafin. Gary Ross will produce. Sarafin
is also noted for writing a draft for the upcoming Terminator 3: Rise
of the Machines.
Mar
12: The Gargoyle: Sony owned
Columbia Pictures has pulled up the film rights to Marvel's
"Gargoyle" - the leathery orange winged character.
Jonathan Hales will script the feature. Hales wrote the Scorpion King
and even co-wrote Attack of the Clones. The character on the big
screen will have very little to do with the comic book character. (cinescape
online) Where the hell is Marvels... the Avengers, the West
Coast Avenger, the Inhumans and others?
Mar
12: Superman: Who would fans
want to don the tights and cape of Superman among this great slinging
of names being thrown about? It isn't a name we've heard any studio
people mention that's for sure. Think about it. DEAN CAIN was a
great small screen Clark Kent/Superman. the fans actually think so
too. Dean Cain has taken 49% of the poll at Zap2It.com. Other actors
who have been mention for the role, Paul Walker 14%, Jude Law 13%, and
Victor Webster 9%. These are the closest runners to Cain. I think Dean
Cain is an excellent choice for Superman. Zap2It.com is re-launching
the poll. Cast your vote today. (As of Today, Cain is taking 65% of
the voting, with Tom Welling a distant second at 28%.
Mar
12: Another Creator Gets Fucked:
It has got to be hard getting canned from a series you created.
Another one bites the dust as Larry Wilmore, creator of "The
Bernie Mac Show", as Fox has dumped him from the series. He
creates and Bernie Mac takes it over. How pathetic is that.
Mar
12: Banderas Turns into a Phantom:
Antonio Banderas is out. Director Joel Schumaker told the Chicago Sun
Times The Banderas is not attached to the film. Banderas becomes the
Phantom that was, NOT.
Mar
12: Fearless: Rachel Leigh
Cook (SHE'S ALL THAT) will make her television debut on FEARLESS from
Jerry Bruckheimer. The show follows a young woman (Cook) born without
the gene that causes fear. She is recruited by the FBI to work
undercover youth-oriented crimes in the Y-Unit. (Scott Strout)
Mar
12: the Mummy 3: Fans would at
first be excited that a third mummy film is in the works rights. Are
you just as excited when you hear that Brendan Fraser is not in the
film? We already knew that Rachel Weisz want out and that's fine. But
when you take Fraser from the mix is the film worth seeing. It looks
like they are putting the planning to move the Mummy to more
contemporary times in the 1950's or 60's. I surely not as
interested.
Mar
12: Nemesis DVD: The DVD will
include seven cut scenes that amount to about 45 minutes of footage.
Hey, buy the disc and put the footage back in.
Mar
12: NCI: NAVAL CRIME INVESTIGATION:
The New JAG spin-off series has cast its lead in Mark Harmon. Harmon's
character will be debuted in an upcoming episode of JAG.
Mar

have a hard time canceling Angel this year. Angel scored its highest
ratings since the November sweeps earning a 3.7/5 share this
week.
Mar
11: Beastmaster: Beside
nabbing the film rights to Mutant X last week, ADV Film has landed
another Tribune series, the Beastmaster. Fans will not be getting
boxed sets of Mutant X and Beastmaster. ADV is not release the volume
dates, but hopes to hit the shelves with them soon. Like the mistake
with Andromeda, they will be not be releasing the series in seasonal
boxed sets. Beastmaster will begin hitting retail stores in
2003.
Mar
11: UPN Being Pulled: UPN has
is starting to be pulled off the air in various places across the
nation. In an email from a reader in South Padre Island Texas, Time
Warner there has already pulled the channel. When fans tune in all
they get is a message saying "UPN IS OFF THE AIR". (Thanks
to the Sporlock in Texas)
Mar
11: The Right Stuff: This
movie was like a mini-series and it was awesome. Look for the two-disc
"The Right Stuff: Special Edition" DVD this summer with lots
of extras.
Mar
11: Sci-Fi For Sale: The
Sci-Fi Channel and its Parent company, USA Network, are apparently for
sale. The French media conglomerate Vivendi Universal is strapped for
cash and wants to sell its US based companies, which include the SFC,
USA Network, Universal Studios, Universal Theme Parks and Television
Company. Viacom, which owns CBS, Paramount, and UPN are the
likely candidate. There is also some interest from MGM and General
Electric. AND... some friggin oil billionaire named Marvin Davis is
interested and acquiring Vivendi. He has made an offer of $20 billion
for the business. Hope Vivendi goes bankrupt.
Mar
11: More UPN Trouble?: If
Viacom should make the purchase of USA network and the Sci-Fi Channel,
what would happen to UPN? It could become the odd network out, since
Paramount and Vivendi have been looking into a science fiction
channel. Would it be such a big loss?
Mar
8: Stepford Men: Actor John
Cusack is negotiating to co-star with Nicole Kidman in the Paramount
Pictures remake of the "Stepford Wives". Hollywood
Reporter.

started. If you want to know about the business and his thought you
will love the interview when it's posted. Look for it here soon.
Mar
8: Tudyk Turns Robot: Alan
Tudyk, who played on the Fox series Firefly, has signed on to the I
Robot project and will play an animated robot for director Alex Proyas.
For me Tudyk is most remember for his awesome acting job in "A
Knights Tale". He was awesome.
Mar
8: Superman: Jerry O'Connell
has confirmed that he is indeed in the running for the role of
Superman.
Mar
8: Tremors 4: Michael Gross is
again reprising his role for Universal on the Tremor series and in the
new direct to video feature Tremors 4. Production started last month
and being directed by Rick Bota.
Mar
8: Stargate SG-1 Season 3: The
third season boxed set if priced at an impressive $69.99. If you want
an even better deal, deepdiscountdvd.com is offering the boxed set at
just $45.76. Check out there website today and order your set. (I am
not affiliated with them in any way.) (Ron Wolfe)
Mar
7: UPN in Trouble: The UPN
network, owned by CBS, has huge monetary problems which may make it
difficult to renew it affiliate deal with Fox Television Stations
Group. FTSG says that UPN owes them $108 million dollars due to breach
of contract. It concerns special breaks issued to Chris Craft that Fox
feels they should have received as well. Whether a legit complaint or
not, it is an indicator of what negotiations will be like to extend
UPN's current deal with Fox. Without the deal UPN is done.
Mar
7: No Shit Sherlock:
New Line Cinema will be rehashing Sherlock Holmes in a new updated
venue titled Holmes & Watson. The film will center on the
descendants of the legendary sleuth and his sidekick, Dr. Watson, and
will be set in modern-day London. The heir to
the Holmes legacy will be portrayed as a twentysomething playboy who
uses his talents mainly to pick up girls, until he is unwittingly
drawn back into the family detective business by a young, sexy Dr.
Jane Watson.
Mar

Clive Owen has landed the lead role as Arthur in Disney's new film,
"King Author".
Mar
7: ROAR: The series will begin
airing on the Sci-Fi Channel April 2nd at 10pm. There are only 13
episodes in the short-lived series, and only 8 of those ever made it
on the air. Fans of the series will get to see the unaired episodes...
cut down of course. ROAR stars a young Heath Ledger.
Mar
6: James Bond 21: The
twenty-first feature film of James Bond could begin lensing as early
as January of 2004. Pinewood Studios has reserved for the feature
beginning in August to begin pre-production. (darkhorizons.com)
Mar
6: New Legends Area:
Scifi2k.com has added a new area to the website. The SFX
Legends area is open and has some mini-biographies for legends of
the business. Spielberg,
Lucas, Irwin
Allen, John
Dykstra and L.B.
Abbott are already there there. Check them out. More will be
coming.
Mar
5: New Interview: The
Interview with Make-Up Effects creator "David Mosher" is
finally complete and uploaded to the website. David has worked on a
some great projects which include, Star Trek: Insurrection; Soldier,
Dark Rising (one of most favorite movies) and Alien: Resurrection. CLICK
HERE for the interview section. I have also started the interview
with Jim Finn, who is currently finishing up his stint as the VFX
supervisor for Andromeda and is also the VFX sup. for Fox's John
Doe.
Mar
5: Mutant X on DVD: ADV Films
have purchased the home-video and DVD rights to the syndicated TV
series Mutant X. No release date is set, but ADV Films wants the set
released as soon as possible. They also own the rights to Tribune's
Andromeda. Unfortunately we may not get seasonal boxed sets for Mutant
X. Andromeda was released in episode sets rather than seasonal boxed
sets.
Mar
5: Riverworld: Right behind
Children of Dune comes the Sci-Fi Channel's two-hour telefilm,
Riverworld. A TV Movie based on the novels by Philip Jose' Farmer.
Riverwold stars Brad Johnson, Emily Lloyd, Cameron Daddo, Jonathan
Cake, Kevin Smith in one of his final roles.
Mar
5: Lois Lane Call It Quits:
Teri Hatcher, who played Lois Lane in the television series Lois &
Clark, has filed for Divorce from actor/hubby on nine years - Jon
Tenney. Hatcher currently does the Radio Shack commercials with TV
pretend hubby Howie Long.
Mar
5: Enterprise Changing: UPN
has had enough of the Rick Berman Enterprise. They aren't canceling
the series but there will be more changes next season. In an effort to
bring in more viewers, and at least bring the trekkers back UPN will
make the series more epic. Enterprise will change directions that
better exploit the sense of awe and danger for the crew. It's still
Berman and Braga... the series is in trouble.
Mar
5: Hobbit TV Series: Ian
McKellen, who plays Gandalf, has asked Peter Jackson if he would
produce a year long television series around the Hobbit. McKellen
feels the story would best be told this way to cover all the different
strands to the story. (Time Europe)
Mar
5: Superman: Man, don't you
get tired of the hype for Superman? The franchise has had two huge
flops (worse than any of the Batman movies). Who really cares, who
wears the cape if the film sucks. Just pick a friggin actor and get
the project going. We've gone from it being a non-body to now being a
familiar name. Do the damn movie.
Mar
5: Deathlok: Comics2Film.com
is reporting that Marvel's cyborg soldier could be Marvel's first big
project with Paramount Pictures. The script has been penned by Retzner
and Stu Zicherman, who are both newcomers. Kevin Feige of Marvel tells
that the script is "A Great Draft". Deathlok is targeted for
a summer 2004 release. I have read the comic from Marvel. It's... not
exactly what I would call a Marvel classic and would be expensive to
do well. How much is Paramount ready to sink into this second tier
product?
Mar
5: Hellboy Is On: Production
has begun in Prague on Guillermo Del Toro's Hellboy project. Don't
forget that special effects master Rick Baker is working on the
project as well. Ron Perlman, starring as Hellboy, has spent a lot of
time doing B movies, but the actor gets around in the good stuff too.
He starred as Vincent in the television series Beauty and the Beast
(done by Rick Baker), Blade II, was outstanding in Alien Resurrection.
He was wonderful in the Sean Connery drama, The Name of the Rose.
Hellboy is slated for a 2004 release.
Mar
5: Incredible Hulk: Universal
Pictures is expecting a huge box office for the upcoming Hulk feature.
While the effects look incredible for the final product we will get to
see, I find it hard to believe the film will be a Spiderman or X-Man
juggernaut. The Hulk will be... fortunate to do as well as Daredevil
at the box office.
Mar
4: Olmos Galactica: Edward James Olmos
will step into the role of Commander Adama in the four-hour back-door
pilot mini-series. Along
with Olmos is Oscar nominee Mary McDonnell as President Laura Roslin.
Michael Rymer, who directed the pathetic Queen of the Damned, will
helm the four-hour mini-series.
Mar
4: Pump Him Up: the Arnold
Fans website is reporting that Arnold Schwartzenegger is going into an
overdrive workout routine. Arnie's hitting the weights 2.5 hours per
day in an effort to regain the body mass he once had for the Conan
films.
Mar
4: The Prophecy Sequel:
Dimension Films is planning two direct to video Prophey sequels to the
Steven King feature that starred Christopher Walken. The coolest thing
is 'B' actress Kari Wuhrer (8 Legged Freaks, Sliders (tv), Anaconda)
will be starring in one of the sequels. Kathy Wuhrer also has a part
on one of the direct to video features. (Clint Morris moviehole.net)
Mar
4: Tomb of Doom 3?: Could
there be a third Laura Croft: Tomb Raider feature? If the filmis
successful Anjolina Jolie is up for doing it. (My
Frequency)
Mar
4: Alias After Some Men: ABC
believes it has a secret weapon in Sydney Bristow, the sexy double
agent of "Alias." But the Sunday night drama hasn't been
able to penetrate TV's top 25 tier of shows, despite kudos from
critics and a cult-like following. As a result, ABC is planning to
throw more money at the program in an unusual marketing blitz. Coming
soon: "Alias" DVDs, comic books, action figures, trading
cards, video games and even a new cell phone ring tone, all designed
to attract more young men to complement a core audience of young
women. "Shows like these are hard to find," said Susan Lyne,
entertainment president of ABC, a unit of Walt Disney Co. "We'd
rather put more time and energy into
building this show than take a risk on four others that we might put
in that time slot and cross our fingers." Meanwhile, ABC's two
stalwart dramas are nearing retirement. "NYPD Blue" is
expected to run one more year, and "The Practice" might not
last the summer. Four new dramas that ABC rolled out in September were
yanked off the air by November. (Ron Wolfe)
Mar
4: More C.S.I.: How much can
you beat a great horse until you kill all of it? CBS wants to find
out. Idiot President and CEO Leslie Moonves is interested in another
CSI spin-off or two. He is interested in one set in New Orleans and
maybe another favoring a CSI/JAG style setting. Never the less, the
idea is ridiculous and the actors of the two current series don't like
it.

2: UPN Makes It Final: UPN has
FINALLY made the Buffy cancellation official. This will allow Sarah
Michelle Gellar to work on her practically non-existent feature film
career - if you can call playing Daphne in Scooby Doo a film career.
Buffy, the Vampire Slayers wraps up with seven seasons and 144
episodes. Creator Josh Whedon is down to just one series, in Angel -
which is currently teetering on cancellation on the WB.

2: Internet Speeds - Viper Style:
The new system, which can zip music files between computers and let
laptop users surf the Web from coffee shops at never-before -seen
speeds, is actually too fast for average users, since the Internet
suffers from other bottlenecks, but that does not slow down
enthusiasts. Called Wireless G, the new networking system is the
latest version of the popular WiFi standard that already powers most
wireless networks in homes, coffee shops and airport lounges. The new
version works with the older one, costs about 50 percent more, and is
five times as fast -- a blazing increase. However, that makes it about
50 times faster than most cable Internet connections, a level of speed
that is irrelevant for most user many users, at least for now. Linksys,
a leading WiFi seller, believes the faster technology offers a degree
of insurance against as-yet unavailable applications with high
demands, said Allen Huotari, director of research and development.
